We booked for 3pm but on arrival was told our booking was for 4.45pm, a quite hostile attitude and given a table we have sat at before where everyone walks past repeatedly., so we politely refused and were directed to a table in the bar facing the wall (felt like the naughty table) there were plenty of tables laid up and free when we got there and when we left. We eventually got the drinks we ordered plus the water. I ordered the buttermilk chicken starter, my husband ordered garlic prawns which were smothered in tinned tomatoes, however the prawns still had their shells on, making them almost impossible to eat. The waiter who took his plate acknowledged there was a problem with the prawns. We had both ordered the rib of beef roast, however when the meals arrived I got the roast but my husband got a rib eye steak with chips! He didn't send it back as this would have meant me eating alone. However no-one came near us to ask if our meals were ok, my husband's steak was undercooked and very fatty, difficult to eat, my roast beef was overcooked. No-one approached us for dessert or coffees so We paid our bill at the bar and left. Not a good experience from start to finish. We have been customers for over 20 years, on today's offering we will not be back anytime soon. Comments please

There is a very good menu currently here and also ‘pie nights’ ‘fish nights’ and ‘steak nights’. We tried the latter. A beautifully cooked steak was served with sides and a sauce, plus a glass of wine or pint of lager for around £19. Really good value. Also good choices of desserts which were delicious. The place was buzzing, as far as I could see every table was reserved . The server was really good, although she was very busy we were not ignored. A very nice evening.

We have a family get together here evey 3 months as central for us all to travel. Very disappointing this time around. Seems it is under new management, which is so obvious. Seemed rather upset when we complained about the portion size of the dessert. Which compared to others was half the size. Was taken away never to be seen again. Still nearly charged us.

Still good even if not quite as good as previous owners. We eat regularly as a family at the Wheatsheaf. It has recently changed hands and there have been several negative reviews recently so it was interesting to see what it was like. The interior is very similar and not seemingly packed in as some reviews suggest. The menu was the same as previous but the food was not identical. Portion sizes were smaller but not small but the food was tasty and hot. The old owners seemed to employ lots of staff and service was super quick so while service wasn’t too slow the waitress did take a while to rake our order and the food took maybe 30 minutes. They did forget the vegetables though. Maybe I’m wrong but the beer did seem better. Staff were very friendly so altogether a good experience and good meal. Just probably a very hard act to follow. I suspect things will change for the worse when they bring in a new menu next month.

Unfortunately our dining experience at The Wheatsheaf in Perry did not live up to our expectations. Two of our party ordered steak and kidney puddings but when they arrived they were actually pies. When a member of staff was approached we were told,"our suppliers say they are puddings", but, as the meat was encased in a shortcrust pastry case, that does not constitute a "pudding" in our eyes. As an aside, the meat content in one of the pies had a large "tube" running through it, which was rather off putting! With regard to the "lasagne" which was ordered, that was actually a chilli sauce, complete with kidney beans, in layers of pasta, so completely unlike any lasagne we'd ever seen before, or wish to again! We mentioned on two occasions to members of staff that we weren't happy with the meals but they seemed completely indifferent to our comments. Needless to say we will not be returning!

New owners have taken over this pub based in Perry, Huntingdon by Grafham Water, we had pre booked and on arrival was seated at a table with virtually no room to sit, obviously too many tables placed in the restaurant to maximise profit over Customer Service. We ordered food and when served the food brought was not what was ordered as different dishes served, when challenged they eventually brought right food but were still missing sides which again was challenged, so 15 minutes after serving we had the right food, but in this time found no condiments on the table, and when ordered ketchup, barbecue arrived and then the waiting staff disappeared. We would have had dessert but waiting staff disinterested in taking orders as overwhelmed by too many patrons. But you guessed the bill came at the stated price, and when asked for a discount, they looked shocked, I mean £3.50 for a small glass of Coca-Cola from a free running pipe. So a big fat no to a return visit, the pub needs to concentrate on less tables and better service, this was the same reason the previous owners failed as it is the locals like us who make or break the the ongoing viability of the pub restaurant in this area.

I know the pub has been recently taken over and all looks very similar. The menu hadn't changed much but my friend had the chilli beef which was a very small portion and was nowhere as nice. My dinner was okay as was my other friends. There was only two choices of pudding and the coffee machine was broken. We chose tea which only had one tea bag between us. After a long day at work I didn't have the energy to complain. Staff need to smarten themselves up as I do not expect to keep seeing somebody stomach while I am eating.

This is a much loved local pub/restaurant which has recently changed hands. We went to check out the new ownership and were looking forward to seeing what they had done with the place and the menu. Staff are perfectly pleasant but in desperate need of a dress code (hard to tell who are staff and who are casual guests), they also need some training in good service e (e.g. don't lean over the table). Food was average at best (we tried the fish & chips, gammon, and a chicken pie) and desserts were what you might expect out of a packet. Most bizzare thing were the chairs they seem to have acquired - old fake leather, half of it peeled away - you can get away with 'shabby chic' but these are just scruffy? Sadly, not a very positive experience - Dear new owners...you have a great opportunity here with regular customors but food and service will have to improve for us to return. On the positive - the pub is still open and serving food, pricing is not unreasonable and providing you don't have high expectations it is a night off slaving over a hot stove :-)

Update: 21st January 2024 Now under new management. Sometimes that's a good thing, but for today it's not. The menu has remained, but the execution and delivery has changed. Very little Marie rose sauce on the prawn cocktail, processed cheese (not cheddar) on the burger, no salad garnish and chips over cooked, the chilli beef was a much smaller portion and the rice was lumpy. One main was completely overlooked and arrived later. Had to ask for condiments and sauces. Service not very good, no checks to see if everything was good or if we wanted more drinks, but maybe they haven't worked in a restaurant/pub previously. It's a nice venue, but if the food and service aren't as good, people will find somewhere else. Doesn't feel quite such a locals pub anymore (bar stools and low tables have gone) and given the reduction in the quality of the food, not sure who they want to attract? Time will tell. Before: Really well kept beers, great food and nice people. The garden is large with plenty of tables and the dining room and bar offer more space if you're eating and you want to be indoors. It's proximity to Grafham Water means it can be busy at weekends and bank holidays, but on a normal weekday it's a perfect place to be for just refreshments or a meal. I love it and visit regularly. I normally make a reservation if I plan to eat as it can get busy. Yet another visit of many. Continues to be a great place to eat and drink. Not the most inspired of menus, but the specials are good. Still good value, nice staff, good service and the food is tasty and well presented. Just hope they don't change anything too quickly! Yet another visit at lunchtime in early November. Still just as good as ever. It never disappoints.

I cannot complain about the food or the lovely waitresses but there were two issues. On entering the pun and looking for my friends I went in to the bar, then though to the first dining area and on to the second dining area. I then spotted them in the garden so went forward to the open patio. There was bunting all across here and I was told I needed to go back out of the entrance and round to the garden area. I am of limited mobility and had already had to walk quite a way from the nearest place I could park the car. I was not impressed. The manageress is inconsiderate and bordering on the rude. I did however notice that the designated fire exit is part of this access route to the garden. It should NOT have bunting impeding it or, indeed, have a table and chairs directly beneath the green emergency exit sign. I think Health and Safety should check this out. Otherwise: lovely!

Lovely food and staff but beware if you have limited mobility. Expect no sympathy from the manager. It was boiling hot so we chose to sit in the garden. We had to walk all round the pub to get there rather than direct access via the patio doors. I mentioned to the manager that if you had mobility issues, as two of us had being walking stick users, it made it difficult to go in and out to the bar to order and pay for food and drink. No tabs allowed in the garden. As soon as I said excuse me to the manager, she was immediately defensive before I got a word out. I explained our difficulty and she said it was our choice to sit in the garden. Customers complained about people passing between tables to go in and out. The tables were crammed in tightly and the chairs were large so the path to the patio doors was crowded. The doors were cordoned off to prevent use. Incidentally, the doors were a designated fire exit so should be available at all times and the passage between tables was narrow. Staff were lovely but the manager was hostile.

Had chicken and chorizo Caesar salad. The dressing was poured over, not drizzled and it was a SLIME FEST in my mouth; so much dressing the croutons were soft mush. Chicken was succulent but it was spoilt and overpowered by the dressing. It left a...

From the outside it looks like your typical old British pub but when you enter your pleasantly surprised by the modern and fresh decor. Staff seemed friendly enough and a good choice of food. The BBQ chicken was good but lacked a bit of meat...

Celebratory meal for 8 last night, had read the reviews and was looking forward to a lovely meal. Average is all I can describe it. I had liver and bacon, liver had a very weak gravy and no onions, then was given a pan friend...

Great location near Grafham Water. Lunch with friends. Dog friendly although not much room for them to lay down due to proximity of next tables, and size of chairs. Nice menu. Generous portions. More vegetables available with mains, just have to ask. Staff friendly. Only...

Best meal I’ve had for a long time! Food cooked wonderfully with large portions. Myself, husband and step son all had steak which was cooked to perfection even the side of mushrooms and tomatoes was delicious, we will certainly be back again.

The atmosphere is cozy with comfy chairs. The service is friendly and efficient. The most important thing, though, the food is … quite simply delicious. Two people loved their fish pie, one raved about his steak and kidney pudding, and I had the best meal...

Excellent experience start to finish. 5* across the board. Arrived to be greeted by cheerful, friendly staff. Shown to a table and drinks order taken. Drinks arrived with menus as requested. We had 3 different starters of garlic mushrooms, pate and halloumi. All of them were delicious , generous portions and hand made. Next we had gammon, a lasagne and sausage and mash. Each meal well presented, tasty, plentiful and piping hot throughout. Zero complaints from any of us, which is rare! We sampled a couple of the desserts - Sticky Toffee Pudding and a Cheesecake. Both beautifully presented and served on really pretty slate hearts. The beer was cold and poured well & the G&T well presented and always with a smile from the staff. The quaint Welsh pub holds a wealth of character and a beautiful small beer garden. It’s dog friendly as well as human and certainly worth a visit if you fancy some honest, home cooked food. We will certainly be back and recommend it to our friends and clients alike. A rare find for customer service, quality and value for money. Well done to all the staff at The Druid Inn , Gorsedd, Holywell. Flintshire.
