This was an absolutely delicious meal. The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection and our server with the brown hair was a pleasure to be around. Definitely will be back very soon.

Have not eaten here in a long time and it’s safe to say I am already wanting to go back. Was greeted by very friendly staff who definitely made us feel welcome. For starters I had the scallops which were definitely the most delicious ones I have even tasted. For mains I had the Turbot, which was, like the scallops delicious and perfectly cooked. For desserts had the Crème Brûlée which was the perfect finish to a delicious meal.

We have been to this lovely restaurant as a couple and as family many, many times and every time we have been served some of the finest Scottish produce, treated with the respect it deserves. We have never been disappointed in either the amazing service or the fantastic food coming out of the kitchen. I would not hesitate for one moment to recommend this wonderful establishment to anyone looking for a beautiful meal.

Had the most delicious lunch started with some amazing cocktails then moved onto the tasty starters of which we all enjoyed The stars of the day had to be the lobster and the dauphinois potatoes cooked to perfection presented beautifully We skipped dessert as we were full with our starters and mains, however we did indulge in the Black Forest gateau cocktails which were absolutely superb Can’t recommend highly enough what an amazing restaurant!

Enjoyed lunch today with friends. My first visit but my friends had been a good few times before as they love it so much. Welcomed on arrival. Plenty of time to enjoy a lovely catch up with starters, main courses and some bubbles. Very relaxed atmosphere and excellent service. The food was absolutely amazing and we can’t wait to visit again soon.

I could have written the same review as susanl466 did below. Party of 4 booked 6:15 to 8pm. After the drinks, starter and main course, at 23 minutes to 8 we were promptly advised by the waitress that there would be no dessert because we had to vacate the table by 8. We were well aware of our time limit. I was facing the clock on the wall that is as large as life and ticking down the minutes to 8pm. We are adults who would be good guests and leave on time. We do not need to be scolded. There was no suggestion to come earlier. There was no offer of just a quick coffee. A 2 hour window would be more appropriate for a party of 4 if it is, indeed, your desire to provide good food in a relaxing atmosphere as stated on your website.

I had read the reviews before we went and had maybe lowered my expectations, that was a mistake....We were greeted at the door and directed to our table by a very nice pleasant woman, we we had a few minutyes to relaxt and the asked if we wanted water and drinks, ordered and delivered with smiles and chat. They then csme to take the food order, we new we were on a time schedule, but had not quite decided, the waiter said no problem and gave us some time to make our choices, order place, service prompt but not rushed, food, well all i can say was what an experience, excellent food. I was not disappointed by the quality, the cooking or the presentation. We were given some time before they asked us about pudding and once again what excellent sweets. We sat for a while as our taxis was a bit late and finished our wine, no pressure to move.We both enjoyed or evening and said it came a close second to our visit to Martin Wisharts in Edinburgh.A couple of small changes and it would be there. So, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. For me a five star night and the main person lved it so that was the important part.

Myself and four friends decided to have a special night at the Wee Restaurant, I would not recommend this place for a group evening , you only have your table for 2 hours, its impossible to eat a 3 course meal and socialize in this time limit. We felt the whole meal was rushed and to find the bill put on the table while we were still eating a little unprofessional , I may add it was over £300, the food was lovely but over priced. We were then asked to leave as the next bookings were there and they needed the table. Our advise to this restaurant don't try and have two table covers when your opening time from 7 to 11pm on a Saturday evening, it might work for couples but certainly not for a group who would like to talk as well as eat. There is nowhere else in the village to continue so we walked up the hill to the hotel at the top to finish our evening

What do I say about The Wee Restaurant?Absolutely smashing it out the park. Great warm welcome from the staff as you enter. Quick to sort out drinks for everyone with recommendations. I’m now in love with Gruner Veltliner, so much so I’ve already ordered some online. My partner was driving so missed out on this but the kind waitress suggest a non alcoholic Prosecco. Which my partner really loved to pretend with, a great wee touch. Now if I wasn’t impressed already the food blew us away. We only had two courses as we were all defeated by starters and a main. I had the scallops which were cooked masterfully and the black pudding bon bons were a bonus delight. For my main course I enjoy one of there lovely specials that night. A 12oz Rib eye with a fried duck egg. Yes folks you heard me correctly a 12oz steak. Each bite just got better and better. I’m already planning my next trip back and will definitely try one of there desserts which I know will be incredible. The friendly and attentive staff and the stunning food makes this one of the best places round the area and definitely worth the trip out from Edinburgh. Don’t miss out folks

Our friends & I were looking for a place half way between Perth & Edinburgh for a spot of lunch. Not quite half way but found this gem just off the M90 motorway north of the Queensferry Crossing. We were welcomed like old friends, with the menu & the specials board explained to us. As two of us were driving we opted for a glass of the non alcoholic Prosecco which was very palatable. The non drivers shared a bottle of Chenin Blanc which they said they very much enjoyed. The menu is fairly concise but still difficult to choose from as everything sounded so lovely. Between us we had the hand dived scallops, calamari, duck rillette & the soup for starters. All winners. For mains we had the ribeye steak which was so flavoursome. Two of us had the turbot dish which was very generous portion & divine. My parter enjoyed the venison so all good again. I couldn’t fit in dessert but the men had the Tarte Tatin with calvados ice cream which they were giving all sorts of noises of enjoyment! The service was friendly, prompt & knowledgeable when asking about certain dishes. We loved it so much we have booked to return already.

I really wanted to like this restaurant as it's always good to support small independent places but our whole experience was genuinely so disappointing.1st the service was just so rude. We arrived 14 minutes late and 2 minutes after we sat down, the waiter told us bluntly that we needed to order as the kitchen actually closes in 5 minutes and he went on to remind us that we were 15 minutes late. We wanted to consider the menu and maybe order a drink but he was insistent that the kitchen was closing. Anyway we were taken aback and do just skipped the starters & ordered mains. We thought maybe he just had a bad day & hopefully the food will make up for it as this is what really matters for us as food lovers. Anyway the ribeye main was so average as it was thin cut with no char and so much juice was on the plate as the meat simply wasn't seared on a high enough heat. It was served with a side salad but chips were an extra. I don't mind paying £32 for a steak but this was just so disappointing. The venison was better and a well rounded dish but we simply felt so disappointed by the rudeness of the waiter & quality of steak that it would be hard to justify returning. Anyway on a positive note, the olive tapenade & the decor was nice. The price vs quality performance just doesn't compare to other local places with £14 for a glass of red and £5 for a side of chips. Anyway, if any of my staff greeted a customer like that then I know what I would do! Read all the reviews and not just the positive ones to make your own mind up.

It has been some time since we last visited the Wee Restaurant but we will not leave it so long the next time. It is a very small restaurant and social distancing caused us concern but the owners have managed to keep clear distance between tables. Well done! The food was impeccable. We started with hand dived scallops with black pudding and rillettes of duck with a duck egg, both dished were delicious. I ordered sirloin steak which was cooked exactly as I asked. My husband's roast venison was soft and silky. Gratin of dauphinoise to accompany and affogato to finish. The puddings looked delicious but that may have been a step too far! Service was friendly and efficient. What more can I say? We will definately be back.

Good gracious, three days later I'm still getting over the experience... - in a good, nay great, way!The restaurant is a cozy affair, with the lighting and background music just right; ditto for the amount of interaction with the serving staff (who is helpful and polite by Scottish standards - brusque by the going-overboard American standards). The food though is the star of the show. The wife had mussels and she loved them even though she's not much of a food-lover. I had a ribeye steak and roast potatoes, followed by a Christmas pudding. The potatoes and pudding were great but the steak, especially, was exquisite. It was one of the best dadgum steaks I ever had in my life and I say that as something of a steak connoisseur. The place is pricier than most nearby establishments but it's worth every wooden nickel! Unlike many Michelin-star places (which I was unaware of until the next day), The Wee Restaurant didn't get its by serving tiny portions of pretentious nonsense but by specializing in a few dishes and doing them to perfection. The size of everything we ate was just right so you definitely feel you're getting your money's worth.I really, really hope fate takes me to Scotland again, for no reason other than to be able to dine at The Wee Restaurant again!

Went here for lunch on Saturday with my husband as we had a rare child free day to ourselves. We had high hopes as the vast majority of reviews are excellent and the menu looked good. Firstly the positives. A lovely cozy restaurant in a beautiful town and we felt welcome and comfortable. The service was attentive and pleasant and they noticed the little things like we needed more water, which they replaced before we had asked. We ordered the starter of scallops and black pudding to share which was tasty and well presented and got the meal off to a good start. Unfortunately this is where things began to go downhill. For main courses, I ordered mussels with fries and my husband had the venison and a side of potato dauphinoise. On ordering, my husband was advised that the venison is served pink which he was very happy to accept as it is his preference for meat to be cooked this way. When his plate arrived, he was disappointed to discover that the meat was cooked through and while some pieces were ok, most were pretty tough. The squash served with the venison was black on the skin and the texture was like play dough and not at all pleasant. The best thing on the plate was the onion sauce. My mussels main was tasty but some of the mussels were very stringy and difficult to remove from their shells which is a problem I have never encountered before when eating mussels. My husband's potato dauphinoise side dish was lovely but my fries seemed to be like they were from a packet, I don't think they could have been fresh made and at £5 for a portion I was disappointed with them. Overall our bill came to £71, for one starter, 2 mains and 2 sides. We didn't have desserts or coffees or any other drinks as we had tap water. Normally we would be happy to pay this amount for really good food however for some reason on this occasion it just didn't hit the mark unfortunately. We were asked a couple of times during our meal if everything was ok and we did say yes, however in hindsight we probably should have brought it to their attention that there were things wrong. We did leave a 10% tip in recognition of the good service and in support of an industry that has been struggling over the last couple of years.I did initially post this 2* review without explanation as to why we had given this rating, which was promptly followed up by the clearly disgruntled owner calling me and asking for an explanation. Whilst I think we were at fault for not initially giving an explanation behind our review, I didn't appreciate the manner in which the owner contacted me. I hope this serves as an explanation and the feedback is useful going forward.

Went here for dinner and got the "summer deal" which was a bottle of Champagne, two whole lobsters and sides of salad and chips. It's years since I've been so I wasn't sure what to expect but I was blown away by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. Our champagne was chilling in an ice bucket at our table prior to our arrival! We got mussels and scallops to start. Both were great but I'd recommend the mussels as the parmesan and bacon sauce was phenomenal.Only had room to share a dessert but had this with a cocktail, which were the banana tarte tatin and a penicillin.Overall it was an amazing night and an amazing experience! PS...One thing I would say which is nothing to do with the restaurant itself is that we overheard two customers being rude to staff for absolutely no reason, making little jibes at them etc. People in the restaurant and pub industry have had an awful 18 months. Some of us have been lucky enough to have kept working throughout. If you're going to go out for dinner and be demeaning or rude to staff, why don't you just stay at home. It's completely unnecessary and unacceptable. The staff were incredible and the way they brushed off such abuse says more about them than the idiots dishing it out! Thanks Wee Restaurant!!!

Started with a Bakewell sour aperitif from the specials board - it was fabulous and the right side of sour. Starters were scallops with black pudding and pea purée and crispy calamari both were really good. Mains of ribeye and half lobster. Just one very minor point the steak could have rested for a wee bit longer but it was extremely tasty as was the lobster. The truffle and manchego fries were amazing and one portion between us both would have been plenty. We shared a pudding of creme brûlée which was gorgeous. We’d also had the bread with tapenade and lovely butter and you can buy the tapenade to take home so it would have been rude not to! Now looking forward to having it for supper. We visited the wee restaurant today for the second time and we honestly can’t fault it, the flavours and texture, just all of it is perfect, brilliant chefs and the waiters/waitresses are very efficient and quick! The restaurant has a great atmosphere and not to mention it’s located in such a stunning location! We highly recommend the fillet steak and mussels. Thanks again for a great experience, we will definitely be returning!

Just really fantastic food. The scallops for starter was the best scallops I’ve ever tasted and I’ve had a few. Steaks cooked to perfection with the best salted peppers as a side. Superb puddings too. Treat yourself to The Wee Restaurant!

Visited here on Friday evening for dinner. Warmly welcomed and shown to our table; the restaurant is very cosy and welcoming with a lovely ambience. The food was exceptional, as was the service. I had scallops in a squid ink risotto to start (excellent) and then the duck as the main, which was cooked to perfection. We were so impressed with our meal and very glad we chose to come here. It’s a great family run business and it’s apparent they do their best to keep customers happy and create a really positive dining experience. We look forward to our next visit.

Treated my wife for her birthday. Was concerned about going to a restaurant due to COVID & restrictions in Scotland. Wee Restaurant website & communication was 1st class regards the measures they had introduced to protect staff & customers. This was clearly demonstrated on our visit as we felt totally safe.A great menu, professional service by polite & friendly staff. The food exceeded our expectations.A little gem and will definitely return.

Just been to the Wee Restaurant and have to say appalled is an understatement !My husband had the venison and had to call the waiter over as no one asked how our food was.It was tough and the sauce was tasteless he was asked if he wanted another but by this time he had lost appetite I ate my lobster but it was chewy !He did eat the side to go with the venison the potatoes and had a desertNow when the bill arrived good service is to at least offer free coffee or desert nope all on the bill along with the side of potatoesI said to the waiter you charged us for the side and he quickly responded with “well you ate them” I said to him are you actually kidding to which he responded with “no he did eat them “No customer service or real apology for the fact the venison was tough at all Won’t be back !!

Excellent. Worth the trip across the bridge and won’t be our last visit. We went for lunch and can highly recommend it. We enjoyed a relaxed and indulgent meal and in these troubled times it was very much appreciated. The fish was amazing, sole with prawns and a lovely butter. The fillet steak was delicious too. The restaurant was busy with a great atmosphere. We would definitely do lunch again as it is easy on the train from Edinburgh. Good luck to the Wee restaurant!

First visit here and it was perfect. Covid 19 requirements properly met, hand sanitisers, transparent seperators for tables etc. and didn't significantly impact our evening. The space is cosy, warm and comfortable affording a relaxed ambience, although the lack of quiet background music made it unnaturally quiet for normal dinner conversation. This is of course no fault of The Wee Restaurant and it is unfortunate such ridiculous guidance should impact their excellent offering.Service was relaxed, friendly, informative and efficient. Courses were perfectly spaced, including an offer to pause before dessert if we wished. The food was quite simply delicious and included hand dived scallops with black pudding starter, a fabulous lemon sole with shrimps, an excellent Kirriemuir venison cassoulet with lentils and truffle shavings and a yummy vanilla creme brulee with berries. Even a deceptively simple sounding side dish of boiled potatoes with shallots and garlic was perfect, not to mention very substantial. In fact the portion sizes of all dishes are generous but well balanced. The evening was beautifully enhanced by the location affording a close up view of the magnificent floodlit Forth Bridge as we strolled back to the car.The final event of the evening was while driving home the restaurant called to advise that I had left my Fife Card on the table. Luckily we were not quite to the motorway so returning to collect it was easy. How diplomatic of the waitress to hand it over, call it my Fife Card and say I would need it if going to the library next day. Come on, we all know it was my bus pass We have intended for years to try The Wee Restaurant and somehow never got around to it. We were in fact celebrating a birthday (74th) and our 52nd wedding anniversary and took the opportunity to "get around to it". Turned out we could not have chosen better. Thanks to all at The Wee Restaurant, definitely be back.

First visit to this restaurant on a cool autumnal Thursday evening. The Covid protocols were excellent and made us feel comfortable. This restaurant has a very deserved reputation. I had potato soup, pork and apple tart. Husband had feta, lobster and cheese board. Every dish was wonderful. The waiter was very friendly and helpful and easily accommodated my husband’s request for no cow cheese.Pace of the meal was perfect and it was nice to see all the tables booked in the upstairs area. Everything was excellent. Look forward to returning.

We love this restaurant and this was our first time back since lockdown. It was so good to see it busy and as good as ever. We both had starters and mains and they were excellent, fantastic mussels and feta cheese starters, followed by perfectly cooked steaks. We only had room for one dessert to share but the creme brûlée was to die for. Lovely atmosphere, beautiful decor and felt very safe with the screens and the hand sanitiser. Thank you Vicki and Team for your outstanding hospitality, keep smiling, and we’ll be back soon.

Very impressed with this wee gem.... We had booked for lunch and when we arrived we had a warm welcome, asked to use the hand sanitiser before being shown to our table. The menu although limited has a good variety and there is a specials board each day too.We were made to feel very welcome the moment we walked in and the waitresses were both very attentive. My mum had The Mussels to start and was very impressed... My scallop starter was just as good too. We both ordered the Halibut from the specials board and it certainly did not disappoint.. The creamy garlic mash and sea vegetables really complimented the fish.Although we were full we couldn't resist the chocolate and hazelnut tart with raspberry sorbet and the apple tarte tatin was well worth the 25 min cooking time.We would both highly recommend this wee restaurant and it won't be long before we make a return visit.

We spotted the Wee Restuarant when visiting the Forth Rail Bridge and decided to go back to check it out. We booked a table for two on a Tuesday evening at 19.45, but there were a few tables spare, so you may be lucky if you just turn up. Upon arrival, we managed to park on the road right out front. When entering, we wore masks and were asked to use the automatic hand sanitiser dispenser. The tables were well separated and there were transparent plastic screens in between. Now, to the important stuff! The food was excellent - really fresh and tasty. To start, we shared the pork terrine and fresh bread with olive tapenade - both were delicious. We then had the lobster risotto and the filet steak with chips - equally as excellent. That fresh lobster! To finish we had the apple tart, which was well worth the indicated 25 min wait. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there were clean toilets. For four dishes, several drinks, and coffees, the bill was very reasonable for the quality. One minor negative was that the restuarant was a tad quiet, so most tables were whispering for fear of being overheard - a little background music would've helped. Nevertheless, an excellent experience, and one we would go back to replicate!

It was great to be out for lunch again and we picked a wonderful restaurant on our first outing. I was last here over 10 years ago with work and it was fantastic then and it's fantastic now.Menu is packed with delicious options and then you have the specials to tempt you. I went all seafood and the mussels and lobster were so fresh and cooked perfectly. My wife had the scallops and pork from the specials menu which were equally delicious.Having had bread and tapenade with starters and fries with truffle oil and manchego with mains, I was stuffed but my wife enjoyed her sticky toffee pudding.Current circumstances means there's hand gel on arrival and outside the toilets. Screens up between tables. Doesn't intrude on the atmosphere in this beautifully decorated restaurant. Warm and friendly service and great online booking system with email reminders. Enjoy your visit!

This is one of our favourite restaurants. The owners, Craig & Vikki Wood and, more recently, members of their family, have worked tirelessly to make a success of their business. With the recent Covid-19 restrictions and the necessary closure of the restaurants they have creatively started "Wee Deliveries". A selection of pre-prepared dishes, wines and other food supplies are available for delivery within the locale. The dishes are carefully thought out and the food is beautifully prepared. Prices are very reasonable in keeping with "The Wee Restaurant" philosophy. Instructions for any additional preparation at home are supplied and are easy to follow. The dishes are delicious. We recently spoiled ourselves for a special occasion under "lockdown" and enjoyed Anstruther lobster for lunch then for dinner Scallops & Boudin Noir, Smoked Pork Belly with Harissa Sauce, boiled new potatoes & asparagus followed by cheese & biscuits. Delicious!Wee Deliveries are a great idea and will hopefully sustain the business until both "The Wee Restaurants" in North Quensferry and Edinburgh can open once again.Try Wee Deliveries - you won't be disappointed!

We've visited the restaurant on and off over the years and not had a bad dish (the mussels are amazing). The switch to doing takeaway has provided us with a weekly treat. We have had some great food - highlights have been the sourdough and tapenade, the chocolate brownies, the risotto, the cheese, the smoked salmon mousse ... We are going to keep ordering in the hope that this gem will still be there once we are through the current crisis.

We stopped in here for dinner and I have to say that the food was very good. I had the mussels and chips and I would rate the mussels as the best that I have ever eaten in a restaurant (look at some of my other reviews of seafood restaurants). I even asked for the recipe. If I was rating on the food alone then it comes close to being excellent. Small gripe, not enough to put you off going though, there were too many tables crammed in so it just felt that it lacked a bit of intimacy and you could hear other diners conversations. Decor is a bit plain. Staff all know what they were doing and were friendly and helpful. I am sure that I will be back.

Wow - what can I say other than fabulous.Booked a table for me and my wife at 6.30 yesterday on a promo for 2 people @ £29. Honestly would have paid the full price of £58 as they present such high quality, superb tasting food, in a small but cozy restaurant. My Shetland mussels to start were absolutely delicious and the cream sauce that accompanied them was divine. A few weeks ago I had Shetland mussels in Amarone in Edinburgh and they were average compared to these. My wife’s ravioli was also delicious. For main I had Haddock risotto (I’ve never eaten it before, always wanted to try) and it was amazing. My wife ordered sirloin steak (an extra £7.50) and she could not remember a better steak she had eaten for a long time 9even our cockatoo got some as there were leftovers)We had home made bread with their homemade paste - again delicious. We can’t thank Kirsty and ALL the staff at the Wee Restaurant for such a really great night.(Ps please ignore all the reviews that less than 4 or 5 stars - genuinely we not eaten or been to such a fantastic small family restaurant as this in a very long time)

What could be better after walking the Forth road bridge (or surviving the mayhem of Deep Sea World) than Saturday lunch here? The setting and service are relaxed and the food and wine exquisite. A friend recommended this lovely restaurant while we were in Scotland for a wedding. I cannot rate it highly enough. We were a table of five and were well catered for by our waitress Kirsty who was delightful, very friendly and helpful and was just attentive enough without us feeling harassed or forgotten. The food was tasty and very well cooked. I had the acorn fed iberico pork and it was tenderly delicious. The ox cheeks were gobbled up without the usual taster offered by my partner! Recommend the pineapple tarte tatin and the bread and butter pudding with homemade rum ice cream. The wee restaurant is smaller than we're all used to but the the clues in the name and it is tastefully decorated, it all adds to the comfortable atmosphere provided by the staff. Can't wait for my next visit.

Having heard so much about the lovely restaurant was terribly disappointed with our meal. The venue is lovely such a pretty area but sadly in a group of 5 don't think anyone was happy. The restaurant was very quiet the night we attended so getting the steaks mixed up and having far too much salt on every meal (not just one) really spoiled the night. Sorry, I don't like giving poor reviews but I also give what I beleive is my honest opinion.
