The Waverley Hotel in Stirling

Popped in for an early midweek tea. Lovely food from the Belhaven menu. Well cooked and presented. Loving the separate vegan/veggie/ gluten free menus. Lovely decor and friendly staff, especially Donna

We dropped in for an early dinner and were very impressed. The menu was varied and service was fast and efficient. Our food was delicious and beautifully cooked. The desserts were very tempting but on this occasion, as the main course was so generous, we didn't feel we could do justice to them. The toilets were spotless. The only downside was the price of soft drinks, at £3.85, it is the most expensive bottle of J20 I have ever had.

Was lucky enough to win a Sunday Roast dinner and it did not disappoint!!!! The portion was a fab size and the food was absolutely delicious and I love a Yorkshire pudding and there were two on the plate and the cauliflower cheese was another level !!!!!! I could just have happily eaten a portion of that on its own !!! The chef James came out to make sure that everything was to our liking and we told him that it was the best ever !!!!! Give it a go guys you will not be disappointed and the staff in the Waverley were very attentive including Arran who made sure that our day was special and it was !!!!! One of the best Sunday roasts I've had in ages!!!!! The kitchen manager James even came out to make sure we were happy. The cauliflower cheese was unreal!!!!

Lovely friendly pub. Very tasty steak pie lunch served by Chef James who chatted and interacted with customers which is really nice to see and hear. We will be returning and maybe stay over next visit. Certainly recommend

Great place for a quick stop for food and drink. Dogs are welcome. Donna served us she was great, gave our dogs some treats also after our morning walk. Would recommend.

Staff very pleasant. Good atmosphere in the bar but not so much in the restaurant area. My husband and sons' burgers were tasty but my scampi portion was small, garden peas were hard and presentation not great. Left feeling hungry.

Food was great - good value for kids and they all enjoyed it. Myself and the two other adults also both really enjoyed our meals.

We stopped en route on our tour of Scotland for lunch. We could tell that the fish was fresh and hadn't been frozen. Generous portions and lovely beer garden.

Excellent service and food. We were a party of 3 adults, a teenager, 2 younger kids and 2 dogs. All our needs were met very well. Wide choice of vegetarian dishes. Met at the door and seated appropriately- we were a group of 6 which was quite large for their seating arrangements. Ordered at the bar with time and care taken to describe kids options etc. Food arrived in good time and all meals were delicious! Excellent all round experience which all staff deserve credit for.

Great for a cosy and casual dinner. Prices reasonable and atmosphere lively. P.S. Haggis was yummy!! Sport shown on TV’s.

After spending a week travelling around West coast of Scotland our last night was in beautiful Callander. Arrived at hotel to a warm welcome from Leon and Nicole.. check in was easy and we were shown to room 1.. lovely clean, bright airy room with a massive and exceptionally comfortable bed, had ensuite shower room, tv and plenty room to unpack. Had a few drinks then dinner in the restaurant, again, service was friendly but professional, food was delicious ( Balmoral chicken and Balmoral steak) with an enormous Eton mess to share. Our dog Ronny was also made very welcome . After a great sleep we had breakfast ( poached eggs and pancakes) which was perfect.. Hotel is on the main high street, central to all the lovely shops etc.. we just parked beside hotel.. Will definitely return to the Waverley as the staff and service is spot on. Highly recommend

Fantastic pub to visit was visiting Scotland and staying at forset holidays and calldener was the next village so we decided to have tea would highly recommend

Our umpteenth visit to the Waverley and it was as excellent as always. Even though my Haggis Neeps and Tatties was 'Neepless!' They had unfortunately run out of swede and I had mine with peas instead. Not a terrible outcome, especially when the staff, (Donna, in this case) presented me with a £15 gift card as an apology for their oversight! My wife's Chicken and leek pie was superb apparently, as was Auntie Ellen's Macaroni. We always stop here when we are in town and have never had a serious issue. Great staff and atmosphere. Drinks selection is first class with a good range of malt whiskies and beers. We will be back.....again!

We visit The Waverley every year when we stay in Callander. Although on this visit, there were clearly some issues (length of time for our food to he served), they kept us fully updated and were so apologetic. They really went out of their way...

Stayed one night in a room facing the road in the centre of Callendar. The bedroom was very nice, clean, with everything you need. There was some noise from the road through the night but not really an issue and perhaps less with the curtains...

Really enjoyed our meal here - standard menu of eg steak pie, fish and chips, burgers - but all very nicely cooked and nicely presented. Didn't have a pudding, but ones I saw looked great! Staff were lovely - really friendly and helpful.

We dined here as a family who all have different requirements. The lady that served us was lovely, warm and friendly. All meals were tasty and well presented. Gluten free was well catered for. Drink service was a little slow. Thank you.

This bar, in my opinion, has THE worst customer service I have ever encountered.Waited 40 minutes after three attempts to get a drink. ..however if you are a local the young people serving have all night to chat away.Food was average BTW...but even if it was 5Star this place would still be a No-Go.They kept saying they were very busy but we heard a young guy tell people who turned up "we're not busy, there are tables through the back!!!!"...busy chatting to each other was all we saw.We spoke to two other tables and they felt the same. If I owned this I would be dishing out P45's to whoever was on on Friday 16th July as they are going to cost you business!Apparently this is the sister hotel of The Crags...well they must have been separated at birth ..we stayed in the Crags the same night..young lad Connor (I think) who was in bar/ reception...couldnt have been more attentive and the young girl on breakfast duty in morning...service personified.....nothing was any problem....would not believe The Crags had anything to do with The Waverley.

Went with a group of friends for drinks and was well worth the money. However, service was very slow despite it being relatively quiet. Staff were too busy chatting behind the bar than serving drinks. Young girl in particular behind the bar ignored us the full night and were not offered drinks. When it came to paying for the bill we had to work it out ourselves as they could not be bothered.

We had a lunch earlier in the day which was very good and excellent service then revisited later in the day. We asked for a glass of Pinot Grigio but we’re told this was not possible. We had alternative drinks and left shortly later. We then came back the next day and we were told this was a total misunderstanding and to our delight they offered us a complimentary drinks on the house. They have went totally above and beyond their responsibilities to rectify the situation. We can only give thanks to Siobhan and her staff for looking after us today. Came here for some drinks and to watch the football we sat in the beer garden outside it was lovely the staff couldn't help us anymore they were lovely , Would reccomend the hullami starter was amazing with the cauliflower rice and broccoli.

We have been visiting Callander and The Waverley for many years and it is still a firm favourite. The food is excellent and plenty of it. The staff are friendly and attentive. An excellent place for a meal, snack or just a drink.

Callander seems to more geared up for day visitors, we were overnighting, and after several days of exotic food we were looking for something more homely. The Waverley did not disappoint, their home made steak pie and lasagne were just perfect. I even managed to squeeze in a apple crumble and custard.Service was attentive and quick, we went back to our accommodation very content.

We had tried for ages to find somewhere to eat which accepted dogs and also catered for vegans. Eventually stumbled upon this place. Friendly and very efficient staff, an entire vegan menu, dogs treated like royalty, food was delicious, this place properly made our evening and ended our little holiday on a high. We booked a table through an Open Table app, received a confirmation, and were even asked to confirm the booking the day before. We turned up at 7 pm and the restaurant is shut?! Could have paused the Open Table account if you're shut or at least let us know. Very disappointed.

Had evening meal and drinks here whist staying in Callander. We had to book. Everywhere was clean and covid procedures were in place including a one way system. Good choice of menu and food was excellent. Staff were all pleasant and efficient. Nice atmosphere.

OMG just had the most incredible Brisket Burger tonight. Delicious. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. The service was great and it felt very safe with good practice very much in evidence.

It doesn’t look promising from outside but we had a lovely meal here. The staff are very friendly and the food was really enjoyable. Not a huge menu, which I think is a good thing and everything tasted fresh and well seasoned. We’ve booked to go back tomorrow as there doesn’t seem to be a lot open in Callander.

We pre-booked lunch for two family’s to get together over some wholesome food and a catch up. I was impressed with the varied menu including some nice veggie options such as the burger. There was plenty of choice for the kids as well who range in age from 10-19. We ordered the burgers, fish and chips, haggis balls to name but a few with a half portion offered for my aunt who’s appetite is not what it used to be.All in all we really enjoyed the food, service and COVID precautions all of which made for an enjoyable experience. Just a same to the weather was typically Scottish the last week of August.Thanks again.

Excellent service - efficient friendly smiley staff. Food really good and fantastic value! Chicken wings ace, Thai mussels beautiful, steak pie, Salmon, chicken burger and apple and rhubarb crumble all scoffed - four very happy full to bursting people! Highly recommended - a real gem.

Beat place in Callander if you have dietary requirements. We were both vegetarian and one gluten free, one dairy free. The staff were so friendly and very helpful. The food was very good! It was so good that we went back on our second night!

Service was first class, if eateries want to know how to open and operate during the covid crisis, then learn from the Waverley. We decided on the Waverley for our evening dinner when staying nearby just outside of the main town. We didnt regret our decision, restaurant is bright and airy, staff were very welcoming and attentive even though dealing with all the covid restrictions. Our meal was excellent, portion were very generous, service was 10 out of 10 and cost was very reasonable. We will be sure to visit the Waverley again when visiting Callander!

The last time we were in the Waverley it was a bit old fashioned and dated but seems to have had a make over. We stopped for lunch and enjoyed the sharing boards on offer between us. Its dog friendly as well.

Stopped in at the Waverley for lunch on a wet and dreich day (my birthday too)It was so warm and cosy and the staff were lovely. Between us, we had burgers, fish and chips and a vegetable burger. All delicious and freshly cooked. We also had home made tomato soup which was a treat! Absolutely delicious and warm. So glad we went there and. Would definitely recommend it for lunch.

Called in based on the reviews, was not disappointed. My sirloin was tasty and cooked perfectly, my husbands salmon was equally as good, we both had puddings. Such a shame we discovered this restaurant on the last night of our holiday. Staff were friendly.

Visited with family including 15 month child. Service was attentive without being invasive. Toddler accommodated well with a high chair, kids menu of suitably sized portion. All food was delicious including nachos, fajitas, steak pie, burger & macaroni cheese. Reasonably priced. Would suggest of you are in callander you book a table at this restaurant, sit back and enjoy the food

Lovely pub with lovely food and attentive staff. We had steak pie and fish and chip which both meals were cooked well and tasty. As for the dessert the sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I’ve had. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We went as a small group upon arriving in Callander. The salmon was delicious and the ambiance was lovely. We enjoyed a quiet dinner and good drinks.

We fancied soup, sandwich and coffee after our Bracklinn Falls walk and were directed to the Waverley (Crags where we had been last time was not doing lunch). Tasty chunky veg soup with a touch of curry, chicken and pesto mayo sandwich and latte - all delish...

We ate dinner here recently when it looked like nothing much else was open and we were glad we did. The service was efficient and friendly. We both had burgers and they were good. He had a Scottish ale and I ordered a glass of wine. It came as a small plastic bottle of wine that the waiter poured into the glass--it wasn't bad either. We were tired or might have moved into the bar for another round of drinks and some local ambiance-it looked like fun. We would recommend this for a good pub dinner.
