Amazing restaurant with beautiful food and views to die for... So relaxing. Staff are very welcoming and helpful... Live music too. Right on the beach for beautiful sunset views.

We found this place by chance after visiting the Needles. It turned out to be an excellent discovery. This is a lovely restaurant right on the water. There is a good selection of beer on tap and a decent wine list. The food was generally very good: both the fish & chips and scampi & chips were delicious, though my son was a bit disappointed by his burger. Prices were very reasonable; service was friendly and attentive.

Efficient online booking. Staff very friendly. We were served our food within 15 minutes of arriving. Food was excellent quality. Would definitely recommend and return.

Arrived just after noon with two dogs. Slightly concerned that they were closed as the entrance was being power showered! Not an ideal start but thereafter every thing was fine. Friendly efficient service and good food. Will return, and recommend.

Staff where rude, my dog accidentally ran in and they didn't handle it properly. I ordered a coca-cola and it wasn't fizzy ONE BIT 😤...

Dropped in for lunch. We were given a great table by a seaview window. Superb choice of dishes, showing imagination and flair on the part of the chef. Everything freshly cooked. Good portions. Service discreet yet attentive, from the very agreeable staff. We much enjoyed our meal and left a sizeable tip. One small comment: on sunny days it is very warm in the window seats and an open window would have been welcome. We should have asked.

We eat here quite often - the food and service are consistently excellent. The specials, which change on a daily basis, are always imaginative and well presented. There are meat, seafood and vegetarian options aplenty, with dishes to suit each all palettes. The mussel chowder on the current menu is sensational and it’s worth visiting The Waterfront just to try this! Every member of the staff team is friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming, which creates a comfortable and relaxed dining atmosphere each and every time we visit. The views of the sea are unmatched - it feels like you are on a boat such is the closeness of the water. You are sure to witness magical sunsets and awesome wave shows depending on the weather! Thank you to the whole team here - both kitchen staff and front of house work together to create a great dining experience. We always look forward to dining here.

Superb Roast on Sunday! We had a new years visit for the weekend over new year and visited everyday attests for drinks. The roast was divine! Greeted by lovely staff, our requests for a large table and children was executed providing plastic cutlery also for our toddler. Staff were very happy and helpful there’s an air of good team spirit we witnessed a lot between staff - it’s a great atmosphere to be around. Service was paced great not rushed nor slow. Just right. The portions were amazing and to taste food that evidently is not just bought but fresh and for some items such as the brownie for dessert we were informed was made and baked freshly from the WF kitchen - we could tell from the taste! Prices are very fair especially with the portion sizes! The restaurant has beautiful views even when the waves are crashing! and a real family vibe with well behaved fur friends who visit in the dog friendly area too! A truly lovely visit, a hidden gem tucked away in Totland bay. Not to be missed.

Food has gone dramatically down hill, four of us went for a meal and three of us had poor meals that were worth even 1/2 the money, unfortunately won’t be eating there again unless they get a better chef.

Went for the Christmas Dinner menu, and the food was excellent. The service was good.

Only gave this one star rating because you can’t give a Zero rating - food was five star but the service was shocking from start to finish. What a thoroughly miserable bunch of female staff, not one of them capable of a smile or a please or a thank you between them. We felt harassed throughout our meal, at one point 2 members of staff hovering wanting to know if we wanted dessert. Dinner was served by Lucy either slamming the plate down or sliding it across the table. Our friend had to go to bar to ask for the bill and we went from being harassed all evening to being ignored - in the end I went up and asked if they actually wanted our money. I then said in the 7 years we have been going there we have never experienced such terrible service which was met with a shrug and couldn’t care less attitude - we only live down the road but we won’t be going back in a hurry - there are plenty of places in West Wight that serve equally good food but have brilliant staff.

Good food and really welcoming staff. Also very dog friendly. In a lovely location overlooking the beach. There is parking available. Wheelchair accessible. There is a good outside area in nice weather. Recommended.

We had a lovely meal. Accommodating staff, lovely food. Camembert starter was great. Steak tender and plentiful. Smokie was great. Could’ve done with slightly less leek and a bit more haddock, but we left full.

Currently serving their Christmas Menu, The Waterfront scores again on both quality food and value and is highly recommended for couples or groups.

Food was really nice, good choice of beers and the location down by the water is hard to beat. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only suggestion is it would be nice to see bottles of condiments provided rather than sachets.

Delicious seafood in a beautiful setting with a view of the ocean and hurst castle from our table. Managed our party of 10 admirably. Great menu for kids too with plenty of options. Really kind staff that went the extra mile, even posting a jacket back to us that was left behind! We’ll be back!

A beautiful location for a drink, but it was spoiled by a lack of service. All four of us stood near the bar and was ignored for a few minutes ( the restaurant was 95% empty at the time ) so we approached the bar to order some drinks. About a minute later a man standing at the bar drinking a beer said “you will have to drink those outside, all these tables are reserved” To which I replied “cant’t we drink them at the small barrel tables near the door” to which he agreed. Turned out to be the manager, found him quite abrupt and seemed to be having verbal digs at his staff the whole time we was there. Every table in the restaurant was completely empty at the time 🤷🏼‍♂️

Good place to eat. Service is very friendly. Book early for Sunday lunch! Parking available outside. If the waves are high your car WILL get wet. 😁.

popped in for lunch as saw the good reviews, and the view looked great. was greated an offered a table by the sea view. even on a rainy day it was a nice view. Unfortunately other then a couple of the staff who seemed helpful and welcoming we felt a bit uncomfortable an unwelcome. dispite never feeling that way anywhere else on the island. The meals were nice but not in my top 10 tasty meals. kind of feels a mix between a posh restaurant and a nice pub both me and my partner couldn't put our finger on it. By the time we left a few more diner's had arrived an a few with dogs that were friendly an chatty letting me an my daughter say hello to the pups. that is probably the best part of the experience meeting the other diner's an dogs. shame as had high hopes for a new place to eat when on the island.

Popped in for a cream tea but they don't do them anymore. Cheesy chips were very nice though. Drinks were good too. Lovely spot in the summer when the weather is good. Dogs are welcome too.

Very good restaurant, right on the waterfront with fabulous views! Weekends are busy as you would expect. We ate on a Sunday night in October which was just a little quieter but still full of atmosphere. Food was good and plentiful. Lots of choice in the menu, with pasta, fish and meat. Prices were average for type of restaurant. Staff were good and friendly. All in all, a lovely restaurant by the sea

Didn't have food, just a glass of wine with our dogs. Very friendly staff, we felt very welcome with our dogs.

We stood for some time and got ignored, so took it upon our selfs to approach the bar to order a drink for four Adults. As we were ordering our drinks the manager said to us that we would have to drink them outside as all the tables were reserved. I looked around the restaurant and every table in the restaurant was empty. I said surely we can sit around them big barrels over there, to which he agreed. Found him rude and overheard him talking to his staff in a belittling way.

Lovely location on the quayside - very good service; excellent local beers and lovely, well cooked food. Very hard to find any criticism - very good value for money

The food was plentiful and surprisingly good. On a previous visit I had the lamb kleftico and I've never had more tender lamb. This time we had the two-streaks-for-£45 offer, and they were juicy and tender. Great views over the sea. Good level of service and very friendly.

First time we have been to The Waterfront. Amazing food, something for everyone. Lots to choose from. My friend and I decided to share a few starters so we could try lots of different bits. Really nice staff and cozy atmosphere with a stunning sea view.

Lovely food although the pan fried Sea bass was slightly undercooked. And the risotto was tasteless. Meal portion was excellent and presentation was great! Extremely slow service....waited 25 minutes for someone to take our pudding order. After becoming fed up waiting we decided to pay the bill and leave. The young girl that came to the table with the bill put her hands on her hips and loudly sighed once we'd changed our minds about staying for pudding and 2 minutes later basically threw the bill down on the table and walked off abruptly.we got up to leave and pay on exit when we had to wait a further amount of time and no acknowledgement from staff. Great location and a nice restaurant however some staff need training in etiquette and dress code.

God moves in mysterious ways. Came here in 2010 with my wife's Dad. He's now dead. We returned to IOW this week for first time. Found this restaurant again, without looking for it. Couldn't believe it. It's BETTER than previously. Great location, super menu and served inside or outside on Terrace immediately overlooking the sea. Motivated staff and their fresh Mackerel with horseradish and salad was exquisite. New owners took over six years ago....it's a must visit, car parking, dog friendly. Terrific all round. Definitely the best fish and chips ever, fish cooked perfectly without the usual oiliness from a lot of chippies. Chips fluffy inside and crispy outside. Calamari had a delicate crumb and was super tender. Home made tartare sauce just added the final touch. Our dogs were allowed which is great. The staff were friendly and the service outstanding. Would go back and I do recommend this restaurant which is right on the beach. The atmosphere is great with magnificent sea views.

I had sea bass with risotto and broccoli for main and Vanilla & Mascarpone Panna Cotta for desert. Sea bass was fried beautifully and risotto was cooked to perfection. It has been a long time since I had such a delicious risotto. The desert was out of this world. Absolutely worth the money, and the added bonus were the views and the fact that dogs are allowed inside the restaurant!!! My dog got very spoiled and was given treats!!! Absolutely recommend this restaurant.

I had high hopes for this restaurant but found it simply “ok” with prices that exceeded the quality. The view of the sunset was stunning in a very lovely location, except we were sat by the toilet even though a table was available in the nicer area with the views. The food felt as though I would find the same quality in a large chain pub. The service was disjointed with (what I assume was the manager) seeming to be annoyed he was taking our order. We went to this restaurant on 14th August. It was around 6.00 pm. We didn't book a table as we couldn't do it over the phone. We asked for a table for 4, though there were many other tables free, we were allocated a table in front of the toilet. Service was nice as the lady was very friendly. Food was ok, however we did not like the atmosphere as there were flies around the table and the atmosphere was very unpleasant. We didn't ask to move the table as we thought other tables may have been booked. We were very disappointed after choosing this restaurant.

Booked a table at the restaurant for dinner but when we arrived we were told that they didn’t have the booking. Eventually that was resolved and a table was found but not a great start to the evening. Service was good - all the serving staff were friendly and helpful. Food was okay. I had Cajun fish on a bed of crushed new potatoes with a sprinkling of rocket. There were quite a few bones in the fish, too many potatoes for the size of the fish, and barely any rocket leaves. Tasted nice though. Pudding was an enormous raspberry posset with a soggy shortbread biscuit. A few errors on the bill to round off the evening.

Service and food was brilliant. The views are beautiful, very nice to get a drink after the meal and watch the sunset. The meal was also very reasonably priced, we hugely enjoyed our visit!

Went for a meal there with friends and one of out party was disappointed with the burger that he ordered. Went in there again for a bite to eat at lunchtime but we were there at 11.50 and was told in no uncertain circumstances that we couldn't order until 12. The male member of staff needs to learn customer relations.
