The Warren in Carmarthenshire

I had the worst service here I have ever experienced. I took my mother here for lunch to celebrate her 85th birthday, we didn’t book but were able to walk in and get a table. The manager took our order, but an hour later we still hadn’t received our food. We asked the waitress what the delay was and they had no record of the food order. They had not checked in with us for the hour we had sat there, even though it wasn’t busy. By the time they had realised their mistake it was too late to order food. My mother was really upset as this was something we had been looking forward to, we were very hungry and it genuinely ruined her birthday. The waitress and bar staff didn’t apologise or offer any explanation, the manager was nowhere to be found. I have never left a negative review before but today’s service has been inexcusable. Shame on you guys.

Lovely bean soup with focaccia and my partner had the fishcakes. A glass of wine and a half or IPA in addition and it was roughly £35 with tip. Happy with this.

I was a bit disappointed in the lack of food on the menu but the food I did order was really nice. I couldn't fault it, the place has a nice feel to it staff were very nice and friendly. Highly recommend

Outstanding food, great service and atmosphere

This place is wonderful. Great menu, really helpful staff, great interior. Someone greeted us when we arrived and thanked us for our custom when we left. Beautiful home made tartar sauce with home made fishcakes and chunky chips. Will certainly return. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic cafe/restaurant. The food is amazing and the staff were wonderful. We visited on a very rainy Thursday evening when they were pretty quiet, but the welcome was extremely warm (despite us getting our arrival in the time wrong by half an hour). The veggie burger was fantastic, really nice to see a proper homemade veggie burger that hits all the spots. Drinks were great, including a delicious organic pinot grigio. Desserts were sublime.

Felt like we hit the jackpot here! Fabulous, delicious, nutritious food. Great friendly service. Welcoming warm atmosphere! All organic and ethically sourced! What more could you want?

Absolutely fantastic, the food was spot on 5*, the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. If the weather is good when you arrive, opt for the outdoor seating, it's a long right alley (very Italian feel) with the scent of fresh herbs that are growing all along the top of the wall. Bottom line is ,we had an absolutely lovely time when we called in. Couldn't have asked for more

Super recommend! Amazing food, lovely service and nice calm environment with good music. Vegan insanely good burger was the highlight for me but all the other options of our table was very much appreciated as well.

Visited last time WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE thank you so much for making our anniversary special they even asked my husband for our first dance song and plays this while we had deserts. Brilliant... Well worth checking this place out. 4 years later and I still remember the meal I had here. Sadly the distance is too great to make it a regular visit. There's something truly assume about a meal, experience that happened all that time ago that you remember and still wish to repeat. One day.

We had a party of 6 and two dogs, and we had an absolutely perfect meal here. We had the days special of pulled pork, a vegan burger, beef burgers, and the hummus starter. Everyone was delighted with their meal. Staff were really on it, giving suggestions that's were really helpful. Fast with the drinks which was important on such a hot day! We also had the tart desert and pavlova which were also very nice. I think it's safe to say theyve got a tight menu and has perfected it. They were very dog friendly and great vegan options.

My husband and I had Sunday lunch here today. The food was fantastic, service was excellent. A little expensive but worth every penny.

We really enjoyed our meal here, the food was delicious.. Hopefully we will be back one day 🤞🏼

Recently had a Sunday lunch, while travelling back to Pembrokeshire. The lunch was very tasty, if not a little small. While I appreciate the ethos of the restaurant in using organic and local produce, I do feel the price of the single course lunch at £22.95 to be a little high. In terms of service, it would have been nice to be asked whether we required any condiments. Having requested horseradish sauce, we were given a small pot between our party of three, which we felt was rather sparse. On a positive, the food was tasty, and the Warren appeared to be a popular eatery in Carmarthen. With this in mind, they must be getting things right.

We had an enjoyable lunch here today. The staff were very accommodating in putting tables together and providing high chairs for our grandchildren. The food was slightly underwhelming. My pulled pork bap was rather tasteless. The organic beef burgers were good but over salted. Fish cakes were quite small. Soup of the day was nice. Children's portions were too big and too expensive.

Great food and even the little one was accommodated in her no sauce on pasta request!! Thanks guys, I really love your ethos, you're a credit to Carmarthenshire ❤️

Had a lovely lunch here with my wife and dog. Waitress brought mat, water bowl and treat for our dog, really nice touch. We had a lovely beef burger and fries for lunch. Really nice atmosphere, great service and feels COVID secure. All at great value. Recommended.

We called in here with our dog and were offered a warm and friendly welcome. They had all the COVID restrictions sorted sensibly and safely. Our dog was given his own rug to lie on, water and a treat and the staff made a fuss of him. Then they moved on to us Our food was excellent, the coffee was delicious, it was reasonably priced and the service was superb. Our veggie burgers were huge and tasty (try the beetroot ketchup) and the cheesecake was delicious. We could not fault any aspect of The Warren, keep it up folks

This place was a great find. It was a bit of a last minute booking as we didn't know the area well and were just staying 2 nights. In the end we ate here both nights, the food was so good. On the first night, my partner had a beetroot curry, which she said was the best curry she has every eaten. And we eat a lot of curry, especially vegetarian. I had the hake, which was amazing. And they had some of the best (local) cider I have ever tasted. Our daughter loved the chips with (homemade?) mayo. Oh and the pudding was fantastic too.

Delicious veggie roast with excellent trimmings. The staff were so friendly and helpful, happy to answer questions etc. We also had beef and pork roasts and those were also really good. We have brownies and the frangipani for pud - amazing shortcrust pastry eaten too quickly for photos. We’ll be back

The menu was quite wide, something for meat eaters, vegetarians, vegan. Price very reasonable, the service excellent and Covid-19 precautions very well put in place. Entry and exit via goods on different sides of the building, so no crossing in doorways.Loos clean and again, very covid conscious. We are meat eaters and had the shared platter which was ample for two adults with healthy appetites and very tasty. We managed to spill the dipping olive oil and were immediately offered more if we needed it (after a quick clean up). Great background music, 20s/30s jazz. not hesitate to recommend to anyone visiting Carmarthen.

The aptly named Warren is a delightful establishment, staff, décor, ambience and of course food are all of the highest standard. Cannot wait for a return visit!

I am gluten free and my wife doesn't like pepper and is allergic to hazelnuts. The staff at the Warren were amazingly helpful with choosing suitable food, even helping out by email in advance of our booking and phoning to discuss the menu with me.They have a great range of gluten free and gluten free adaptable food, including an awesome chocolate brownie.The waiter was very knowlegeable about the food ingredients and the options available.Social distancing was good .In summary, an atmospheric restaurant with excellent food, helpful friendly staff, and excellent customer care.

We had the most amazing meal last night and I had to write to comment. Highly recommended in every way. I had the pan friend haddock which was delicious and a generous portion of fish. My friend had the steak which she raved about. The desserts were exquisite. Great staff, great food - what else could you want. Well done guys, you should be so proud.

I went there with my partner's family and everyone genuinely enjoyed their meals. Everyone chose different options - meat, fish, vegan - and we couldn't fault a thing. Not to mention the staff was amazing and the environment in the restaurant felt very safe which is not the case in all the restaurants we had visited since they reopened. Lovely evening with friends for first time since lockdown..... food was delicious and there a good atmosphere. Planning and organisation was good, a one way system in and out door. Only suggestion is some lighting in the alley way exit would be good.

Had such a lovely lunch with my partner, staff were amazing and friendly and very helpful and conscientious about my gluten free request as I have celiac disease. Both our veggie burgers were delicious, especially the homemade gluten free bun! (Best I’ve ever had). Finished off with a 10/10 homemade cheesecake Thank you all will defo be back! Arrived in Carmarthen and looked for somewhere to have lunch - using the power of the web we found The Warren.Just managed to squeeze us in even though fully booked but table had to be free in 90 minutes.Pulled pork roll & meaty burger with side of fries were the choices for us - excellent choices all round and felt very satisfied with lunch. However, after being told the cheesecake was something special we decided to try.Best cheesecake I have ever eaten - amazing (can’t think of anymore words to use)!!Please support this local business, the staff are great and the food was amazing..

Soup of the day, curried cauliflower was tasty, really rich in flavour with a huge chunk of home made focaccia bread, main, deeply flavoured lentil with roasted vegetable. Will definitely come again for the food. All the servers were lovely and very efficient. All in all a wonderful eating out experience, our first meal out since lockdown.

We have ordered take out on a Fri or Sat night every weekend since that became an option ... have now tried all of the fish and veggie/vegan options, all delicious. The chocolate brownie is divine. Looking forward to Sunday lunch tomorrow, and to being able to eat in from August 3!

The food and atmosphere in The Warren is always wonderful, and we have missed it during the lock-down, so great to it is now available for takeaways. We had a takeaway last weekend and it was fabulous. We had The famous Warren Beef Burger and triple cooked chips, which my son always loves. I had the veggieburger with halloumi cheese and the house coleslaw, which was amazing, and would be my choice again, despite not being a vegetarian. My husband is still raving about the goat curry, slow cooked, beautifully tender meat and gorgeously flavoured. The meal was completed by a chocolate brownie and clotted cream . All in all it was a perfect night in, but can't wait to have a proper night out again.

We had a takeaway Sunday lunch last week and it was absolutely magnificent! We also had a warm welcome when we went to pick it up. It was the first time in 5 months that we have met up as a family and your Sunday lunch was delicious. Thanks so much

Had the fish and chips take away. Fish was cooked perfectly and was tasty. The quality of the ingredients was the best bit.

The food is amazing 10/10 If you are visiting Carmarthen you will not get nicer food and atmosphere.

Three friends booked in for Sunday lunch. Fabulous very generous portions vegetables were super tasty I am a meat eater but I will say could have eaten my Sunday lunch without the beef it was that good.we shared a starter a beetroot hummus type dish absolutely moorish.the puddings were all delicious. Staff super friendly and very efficient would definitely recommend

I had three visits to The Warren during my stay in Carmarthen. Two for lunch and again for dinner on Friday night. The food was delicious and the staff efficient and friendly. Emily and Ashleigh were superb at ensuring I was looked after each time, recognising me on the second visit. I can recommend the chai tea and carrot cake. Worth a visit if you're in Carmarthen.

It's a few years since The Warren opened, always with a variable style and ethos. A slight sense of trying to find it's way. Experimenting and playing. Trying to balance great food with an ethic. We've been there a few times, late 2019 when we felt that the food was disappointing. However very recently we went along, and quite frankly it was just amazingly good! I doubt that the mussels were cooked from live, but who cares, they were delicious and with a wonderful broth and generous chunks of charred garlic bread to soak it up, and even a dish of lemon water for finger rinsing. A nice presentation, and great to eat. But, it was just the starter. Moving on . . . The venison Bourguignon, was to die for. Venison is a difficult meat, very easy to get it wrong. This was certainly not wrong. Moist and rich, just lovely. Big portions, but then we did have a great starter, and better too much than too little.I think that things needs some consistency. Great place, great staff, but food has been variable in the past. To attain a reputation for good food, consistency is essential. I hope that The Warren can reach those heights. Based on this meal, I would think so.

Superb Sunday lunch. Everything cooked to perfection. One of the best Sunday lunches ever. Very attentive and pleasant staff. Would highly recommend.

Visited for lunch today. Great decor dining room, effective use of distressed furniture. Two had Organic Rare Roast Beef from the Specials Board (not sure whether the Rare means the beef's brief but effective relationship with the oven, or maybe we have inadvertently contributed to the extinction of a Rare Breed of cattle (we think not)). Great service from charming and welcoming server, excellent value, <£27 with tasty coffee. All food is from local suppliers, and is as sustainable as it possibly can be (without going vegan). Bottle of tap water placed on table before orders taken, that is a nice (but unusual) touch. We are soon moving from deepest Ceredigion to Carmarthen, and this is likely to be our go to lunch venue. Highly recommended!

A small restaurant just off the centre of Carmarthen, serving locally sourced organic food. Small but adequate menu. Specials of the day too. Service fast, efficient, and friendly. Food tasted very good. Mulled wine excellent.

We looked on TripAdvisor when the restaurant we wanted to have lunch at, was full. As the Warren had 5 stars we set out to find it. So pleased we did, staff were fantastic, as was my wine and partners latte. The food was homemade and packed with not only flavour, but also nutrients....it's a real bonus when a treat lunch is also good for you! Fab cakes which staff kindly packed up for us to take home. We will return, thank you.

Ive been following these guys for ages on social media.. and we finally got around to bookingWe really weren't dissapointedThe staff were really welcoming, the menu was very well put together .. and the food was very very good.Local produce, cooked to a very high standard in a wonderful relaxed setting.. this is my idea of a perfect place to eat out.Really great to see hogget on the menu... and the kids are still raving about the tomato soup..

This was as good a meal as I have ever had, anywhere. Not been there previously but will certainly return soon. We've been eating out on Thursdays for several years on our 'date' night and the Warren has gone to the joint top of our list of places to eat in Carmarthen (the other one is the New Curiosity in King Street).Three course were all 10/10 (pork starter, turkey curry and chocolate/orange torte), magnificent.

The Warren has it all. Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, ethical values and a friendly and efficient team to boot. As a vegetarian, The Warren is one of my favourite places to go in West Wales because of the number of tasty vegetarian options, cooked with ingenuity. Not just your average lasagne’s and goats cheese tartlets.I can’t recommend a visit enough.

If you appreciate great food and drinks you have to visit the Warren! Some of the best food we’ve had. They work with local suppliers to create seasonal menus to offer a fresh experience each visit. Superb! Thanks guys for another great meal

Had our first (of many, I hope) early supper in the Carmarthen Florentino’s last Saturday. More intimate downstairs than Tenby, but every bit as good. Food and service excellent. These guys really know food and how to serve it with style and efficiency!

Outstanding in every way. We stopped for lunch at this amazing place whilst travelling from Fishguard to Chepstow. What a total surprise! Our expectations were exceeded by the incredible home made food and awesome service. We live no where near you guys as we were passing through for a Christmas break. When we do this journey in the future we will definitely return. Highly recommended!

Booked lunch for the extended family (14 of us) and I have to say it was brilliant. Great friendly service and superb food.

For some reason, I had never visited the Warren even though I live in Carmarthen and often dine out with friends. I decided to celebrate my birthday there with friends. I have to admit that I was amazed at the size of the restaurant and it has a central bar and several tables for guests. It is extremely atmospheric with very quirky decor. The staff are very casual, attentive and friendly. We all opted for the Christmas menu. The food was superb - beautifully cooked and very tasty. We mainly had the turkey which was very succulent but one guest had the vegetarian option which was also superb. The bottled beers are locally brewed and sold at reasonable and acceptable prices which is a bonus. I can highly recommend The Warren as a restaurant where the food is produced to an exceptional standard. I suggest you try it for yourself - you will not be disappointed.

I have been here twice now and I love this place.The food and service is always spot on, and the servers are amazing, polite and attentive and cannot do enough for you.The first time I had the Lamb burger, and this was amazing. My friend and I after ordered the wrong cake (it was gluten free), however the staff changed it for us no quibble, I thought this was so nice of them and just goes to show they want you to have the best experience. My friend had the quiche on this trip and it was nice, I knew the next time I would order that too.Anyway getting back to the first meal, the burger was succulent, and whatever chutney/relish was in it was so nice, I want a jar of that to take home. The chef needs to start selling that stuff in jars. Their chocolate brownies are to die for.The second trip we both had the quiche. OMG the crust was just amazing. It has a crunch, a crisp and is just the right thickness. We ordered wedges too, but Im telling you just the quiche is enough if you are not a big eater. Due to the freshness of the ingredients its filling.I love their fizzy drink options too.The prices are very reasonable, 2 courses a fizzy drink, coffee and cake sets us back just under £20, and it is worth every penny. The food experience is amazing, so if you are in the area it is a must visit.

In a town we have never been to before and so glad to have found this little gem. Friendly staff. We had the smoked haddock fishcakes and turkey toastie. The suggestion of roast potatoes on the side was a good decision to take. Lovely organic cider to wash it all down. Squeaked in just before 3pm by pure chance so got this lovely food. Highly recommend.

A warm greeting on arrival and seated in the quirky decorated restaurant. It lives up to us name with lots areas each offering various size of table to cater for groups of any size. Started with a delicious hedgerow cocktail using local gin. Starters of goats cheese with artichoke and a venison terrine were delicious and fresh. Main course of the burger and hogget with potato cake and locally sourced well cooked veg. Waitress was friendly and engaging and able to one advise on what a hogget is (lamb that is over 6months) and who supplied vegetables. Sticky toffee pudding was light and delicious as was the coffee. Efficient , friendly but relaxed service. Only sorry not live locally as a real treat and would thoroughly recommend.
