Lovely lunch today. Good choice of food, very reasonable priced. Service excellent. I would highly recommend The Walnut Tree.

Went today for some lunch, the menu had so much choice to choose from, the staff were brilliant and the kids had so much fun in the play area! Will definitely be returning 🥰

Dined here a fair few times now and each time it’s been excellent! Gets very busy on a Sunday (no surprise there) so you might be fighting for a parking space, with that in mind a small car is much more suited on a Sunday. That is the only negative point really, but then it shows how good the Walnut Tree is, hence how busy it gets on a Sunday. Other than that highly recommended.

A beautiful lunch for a belated mother's day. I hadn't been here for quite a few years so wasn't sure what it would be like now but I was not disappointed. Great menu, food was absolutely beautiful, brilliant and friendly staff and service, and a beautiful country pub with a lovely atmosphere. What more can you want? It was also so lovely to see dogs being welcome.

Pleasant friendly rural pub restaurant. Dog friendly too. Has a relaxed welcoming atmosphere, good and varied menu, and good food with decent portions. Popular, especially at weekends, so worth booking if eating.

Lovely restaurant, been before but the food is even better now than ever! Service was quick and efficient considering how busy the place was. Going again in a couple of weeks for my birthday. 😃😃

All four of us ordered and had a Baguette, three ham and one smoked salmon with chips, they were not only delicious but were made to perfection. A most enjoyable lunch which we will be doing again.

We arranged to meet two other couples here on Tuesday 5th March. We had arrived early so decided to order a couple of drinks from the bar. I ordered a diet cola and my husband had an ale. When my cola arrived it was flat so I asked the waitress if their cababna gas had gone so she went off to ask the bar staff. She came back and offered to get me a bottle of cola instead but I would have to pay the difference.....I thought this was dreadful customer service so refused . In short I paid £3.50 or something like that for a cola I couldn't drink because it tasted disgusting, I was so angry that I was not then going to pay my money to them for food , I felt obliged to order as everyone else was eating but I didn't enjoy the food as I felt I had been treated badly and begrudged paying them my money. I was not impressed with this place at all so wouldn't return I will give my money to another establishment who know how to treat customers. This could have had a completely different outcome had the staff been trained properly in customer service.

I was at the Walnut tree for a Wake, we lost a good friend and neighbour, a very sad occasion, the food was very good and the waiting staff were very good, polite and friendly except for one lady who seemed to think that she should be different. Where the rest of the staff wore the usual smart black outfits, this lady who is rather large seemed to think that we should be treated to something different. She wore a dangerously short light grey outfit that quite honestly I found offensive when I had gone there to eat and this was rather off putting. She was a nice looking lady and maybe wearing a nice business outfit/dress would enhance her figure for the better.

We arrived at after 8pm that kitchen shut at 9pm. Was welcomed in and shown to table. Interesting decor. Given menu options and a specials board. We chose of board and menu. Look, quality and taste were all there and on point. Price was also reasonable for todays market. Currently is now in my top ten, but list only has five restaurants and one of those I have not been to for a very long time. Am I fussy? When it's right it is.

We had a very warm welcome from the team at The Walnut Tree last night. Our party of 12 had reduced to 9 and they kindly set up a large round table for us. We took advantage of the selection of no and low alcohol beers and gluten free drinks too. There was an extensive menu to choose from, with some gluten free and vegan options too. The service was quick and the team very friendly. Will be back!

What can I say, food is delicious and the staff are so attentive and friendly. Great selection of food and drink on offer too. Can't wait to go back.

Food was great, as always. The staff are really friendly, without being obtrusive. The seating is set out in different areas, so it never feels crowded. It's a calm atmosphere and have never been rushed for the table to be used again, they're very good at juggling tables.

My family and I went for Sunday lunch, which was okay. We found it quite expensive for what we had and we were also overcharged on the drinks. (Three more than we actually had. ) They obviously didn't believe us and the barman went through his receipts twice looking for proof of what we hadn't had! He begrudgingly adjusted the bill, no apology, after making us feel like liars. They have lost us as customers, but I doubt they will care, given their attitude. 😢

We went there for my special birthday a few days ago we arrived at 7 waited an hour and a half for our food.We all paid our contribution and there was 18 pounds owing which my husband had to pay. We will not be returning.

We were a large party of all age groups the service was very good. We were all served with in mins of each other. And the food was lovely.

My first visit to this pub Easy parking No food available after 3 which surprised me . Not impressed Looks a busy pub. Needs a bit of refurbishment dated in side old worn furniture. Not a great selection of ales . Wine list not bad . I noticed around 12 work men scattered around the place with mud filled or paint stained clothes sitting on the furniture. Not sure how you manage that . The next person that sits in the furniture covered in dirt. Staff pleasant enough. Not me for wont return.

Booked for the first time for Valentines night. Really warm welcome. It was a set menu with a perfect choice for us. My wife had the see Bass and I had the steak both perfectly cooked and presented. A minor point we ordered a bottle of white and red wine not house . It was plonk on the was table opened already with no offer of tasting . Although this was a negotiation us our overall experience was excellent.

Would definitely dine here again if visiting in the area. Staff were all lovely, very efficient and friendly. Food was delicious. Totally recommend.

Although we were early we received a warm welcome and soon found ourselves seated. Allergens were checked and drinks ordered. The menu is excellent and we all had a good conversation about the dishes. Once again, allergens were checked by the server and we placed our order. There were 8 of us dining and we all ordered something different. I felt sorry for the chef, but it was handled so well. Whilst waiting for the food to arrive, the staff made sure we had plenty of drinks, were comfortable and had everything we needed. When the food arrived at the table, it looked amazing, on hot plates and the aromas were fantastic. The Chef got an A* from us as everything was cooked to perfection. Considering that there were 2 Head Chef's, a Baker, and a Food Nutritional Teacher at the table and only compliments were heard, we can say that the main meal was perfect and a definite hit. Dessert was amazing too and a must. The whole evening was beyond what we expected. - Fantastic staff, amazing food, lovely atmosphere. Thank you

Just had a beautiful meal at the walnut tree. Seven of us ate here and the food was beautifully cooked. The camenbert with crusty bread was delicious and enough for 2 to be honest. The steak in the steak and kidney pie was tender and melted in the mouth. A true culinary experance, in a wonderfully atmospheric place, with very attentive staff

We had my Dad’s Wake today at The Walnut Tree and I couldn’t have picked a better place to have it. The food was incredible everyone commented on what a great selection there was. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the atmosphere was perfect. Would definitely recommend.

Nice restaurant with lots of parking. Staff were friendly and helpful on arrival and showed us to our table. Menu had a good variety with lots of options and a couple of vegetarian options plus a "Specials" board with other options. Also prepared to switch starters up to mains. Extensive wine list but, and this the only thing letting it down - was the lack of beer choices. Otherwise great and very recommended.

A lovely pub/restaurant with great food and friendly staff. Would happily go back anytime we're in the area.

It really felt like vegetarian options here are an afterthought. Very limited choice for main meals and no option for vegetarian kids meals. It's a shame because the rest of the party were happy with there food. This would certainly put me off coming back.

Delicious Christmas Lunch for seven of us at this very popular and cosy country pub/restaurant which has been beautifully decorated for the Festive Season. The quality and the quantity of the food was very good, as was the service. Thanks to all concerned. Try it, if you get the chance.

The Walnut Tree in Runcorn is a large, old public house. It has a large car park and has tables with seating both inside and outside. A number of us went to a birthday party in one of the hired rooms. The service was very warming, friendly and efficient. The food that was served was a good selection, well presented and fresh. As you would expect, being a pub, a full supply of drinks were available. Separate gluten free food was also provided and its quality was as good as the rest.

Lovely food and staff. A little on the expensive side but nice to go for a special treat.

So the positive first of all. Food was really nice and tasty! Howeve4 we had arrived at 12 pm and had previously booked a table. We were shown to a table and asked if it was possible to choose a table as there were no other people in the restaurant. We were originally told no, as people had specifically booked certain tables. I did press the point and we could then choose a table near a window. For the next two hours, there was only one other couple who arrived leaving about 5 plus tables unoccupied! I can only take from this that the original staff member couldn’t be bothered to accommodate our request until challenged. Apart from this, we were given menus but no explanation that there was a specials board! Both myself and my husband would have preferred something from the specials but were not told - very disappointing! The last gripe unfortunately was how the young person was dressed- in shorts and short ones at that. Not what I would consider as appropriate or professional dress but there we are. More importantly was the complete lack of customer care by this person. Both the subsequent staff members that served us were excellent. However this one person let the rest of the staff down and we will not be back. Maybe some extra customer care training would help!!

We came upon this place by chance, and we are so very glad we did. The welcome was warm, a very pleasant ambiance, lovely staff and superb food. What more could you possibly want?

Superb meal whilst staying locally at Chichester Lakeside, only a 4minute drive away. Fantastic service, all staff very pleasant, food was amazing: sausage and mash, ham egg and chips, belly pork, curried fish. Apple and blueberry crumble was out of this world. Thank you all for a fantastic family meal. If we come back to the area we will definitely be back.

We were here for a family lunch, and couldn't fault it. The waiting staff were lovely, and the food absolutely delicious. I had the ricotta & spinach canneloni with garlic bread and a lovely crisp side salad. Would definitely recommend!

Quiet, cute, beautiful, food was amazing mains, desserts, coffee was all spot on, its the first time we've been here, it was our wedding anniversary and we can't fault anything, this was the nicest meal we ve had in a very long time and it won't be our last visit for sure.

The pub itself is a lovely place, very old and a nice ambiance, I went for dinner with a friend for a long overdue catch up, the food was excellent from the starter to the dessert… the service was excellent as well… couldn’t fault anything!!!

Booked a table on the phone for 2 roast dinners for 7pm. We were seated and waited 20 minutes with no service. Another table who arrived after us, were served before us and already had their starters. When my husband asked to be served, a rude, half dressed lady came to our table. He asked what the roasts were to be told they ran out of all roast an hour before. Their website states roast dinner is served 12-3 and 6-9, so how can they have run out before they started!! And actually this was a blatent lie to our faces because the table next to us were eating a roast, the table behind us were eating a roast and 2 plates of roast dinners were taken to a table near us while we were sitting there waiting. They clearly dont want non-locals in there but my hard earned money is as good as the next person's. Dont waste your time going to this place unless you live in the area as you will be treated with disrespect and with rudeness!! Disgraceful!!

On holiday nearby and been 3 times this week, very good menus, plenty of choice.

I was there Sat evening, witnessing poor service, I felt sorry for a family of 6 who came in at 6pm. The waitress was rude and the looks from other customers must have made them feel uneasy. Shame this pub/restaurant is not family friendly.

My husband and I booked a table (just, they were almost fully booked half way through the week). Arrived to a pleasant welcome and shown to our table. Drinks order placed and left to decide what we would like to eat. Good selection to choose from and order taken by knowledgeable waitress. I had roast pork and my husband chose roast beef both served with usual accompaniments and a side of cauliflower cheese. Food hot and delicious enjoyed every bite ( one small preference would have been to have a plate rather than a bowl but maybe that’s just me) For pudding I had banoffee pie and my husband treacle tart. I loved my banoffe pie and my husband enjoyed his treacle tart but could have been more filling and less pastry. However he said his pints of Guinness were excellent. Really lovely meal served by happy people, delicious and seamless, highly recommend. Thank you 😀

This is our favourite venue for any food. Always a warm and friendly welcome, especially Mark! All the serving staff are really pleasant as well. Never had a bad meal.....The lamb shank is to die for & lots more. They bend over backwards to warrant your needs.

I have always enjoyed the tree, but this was something else! Service was laid back! I can’t be bothered! Are we hooters now! We ordered our food amongst a fly infested table. It was delivered and not one of the staff asked how our meals was! It was average not worth the drive or time waiting. I asked for a fillet steak, I asked at the time if I could I have a Stilton sauce because I can’t have pepper, I was told absolutely not, in the years before they would have make i didn’t have my steak went for a chicken burger, not my thing. This has gone from as great restaurant to bad restaurant, i have been twice now, it is still bad and I will not experience this again, never again.

There was 5 of us dining on Friday evening and everything was perfect, food,service and atmosphere. Will definitely go back,

Fantastic from start to finish. The food was amazing!! The service we had tonight was second to none. The staff were all so attentive, very accommodating, friendly, just lovely. Thank you for making my mum's special birthday extra special. We will definitely be back. Special thanks to Karen who booked us in on Monday, and for helping me today with organising the decorations and looking after the cake. Thank you to the lovely gents (I'm sorry I didn't get your names) who served my mums cake and sang for her, you were a delight!

Great place to eat but to many tables to serve if busy

Beautiful food, wonderful service and comfortable surroundings. While exhibiting at Goodwood Revival we ate evening meals here. It was a welcome break from long and busy days. The food was delicious, varied and expertly cooked. Staff were friendly and accommodating and fitted us in despite being incredibly busy. Fast, efficient service and we all enjoyed every mouthful. Thanks so much for look after us all so well! We'll see you again next year!

This place is a firm favourite on our September holidays to Pagham. The staff are friendly, there is a lovely atmosphere and the food is just absolutely delicious! We visited 3 times this week and each time it didn't disappoint. Even kind enough to make us something from the cottage menu which we hadn't realised wasn't available on a Sunday. Highly recommended.

We ordered sausage and mash and gammon steak with chips , both £13.50 soon arrived and were excellent .The gammon was quite large so was the sausage meal , three large sausages with plenty of mash and veg .. My wife then a sweet which again was excellent.

Yet again an excellent experience at the Walnut Tree. We were a large group and we all greatly enjoyed the wide range of food on offer - ranging from veggie to steak ! The pub was busy but the service was very good and we were made to feel very welcome as we celebrated my Dad’s 99th birthday.

Food was fine but totally ripped off for a bottle of wine. Asked at bar and quoted a price to then be billed £11 more at end of meal. Management totally disinterested in customer service, just want your money. Will never return and would suggest...

This is our second trip to The Walnut Tree and it didn’t disappoint. The staff are welcoming and friendly the minute you arrive and are on hand to check in that everything is ok. Food was amazing again and they were great with our dog....

The Walnut Tree is clearly very popular. We had both drinks there on one day and then ate the following evening. The service is efficient and friendly. The food was nicely presented and flavoursome. All in all a very nice visit.
