After years of hearing how good it is from friends and family I finally tried The Waffle House. We sat inside near some of the old mill machinery, visible through some glass windows, very atmospheric. The food was fantastic and the service was great from the young guy who was looking after our section.

The staff were very disrespectful. One of the waiters spat at me on his way to the front. Another spat in my food whilst handing it to me (although by accident it was still gross). The glass cups were dirty and utensils as well. Would recommend other guests to look at their meal carefully.

Lovely place. Been here a couple of times. Limited menu but indeed very tasty. Vegetarian options are very limited. Amazing dessert. I ordered sliced avocado on side for my baby, don't think the portion did justice to the price. That was the only disappointment. They should have a few options at reasonable price for kids.

I'm actually very disappointed with the experience. First of all the place is freezing cold inside (not patio part but actually indoors), I was looking forward to trying the food but again, disappointment. The food lacked flavour and came cold after about an hour wait (monday morning so didn't expect it to be busy). Definitely not worth the price and genuinely even after adding salt and pepper it still tasted bland. Shame as friends recommended the place so I had high hopes. The only good thing about the place is the staff, lovely and friendly.

Very nice place a little outside of London. It has a lot of vegetarian options and also offers gluten-free waffles. The food is really very good, even the gluten-free one is made very well and they are very attentive to those with allergies. There are 2 small points against it, you can't book, and for a group of nine people we were they didn't move the tables but made us put in two separate tables, without being able to join them. Another small point against it is that if it rains, they have awnings, but in some places it drizzles inside and the floor is completely wet. All in all, however, I highly recommend it, especially to those looking for gluten-free and vegetarian options.

Went their with family of 2 kids. Very friendly staff. It may have been what we ordered, but perhaps our expectations were too high. Not for me.. cold chopped ham on a waffle with a bit of sauce is not good food or worth £13.50. Service, not that great, but they add 10% service charge to your bill, so you pay for service either way. The menu is dull and needs more thought and effort. IMO Don't bother. Better places to eat in the area, with more of a wow factor. Also didn't feel comfortable, and when it rains, you get wet whilst inside.

The Waffle House delivered on flavor during our busy Mother's Day visit. My Mexican Adobo waffle was packed with taste, hitting all the right notes despite the slightly tough pork. My wife absolutely enjoyed her chicken waffle too! While the wait in the rain was less than ideal (umbrellas for queuing guests would be a welcome addition), the food made it worthwhile. We'll definitely return, but we'll aim for a less crowded time for our next outing. Suggestion: Offering umbrellas for guests waiting in the rain would greatly improve the customer experience, especially during busy periods.

Average food. Its waffles at the end of the day. Everything is organic and free range, etc. Probably to justify the quite high prices. I completely fail to understand the hype. Also, they don't take bookings, and then only give you 2h30 parking before giving you a fine, at the same time you have to wait average of 1h in a queue at the door (again no bookings). Meaning you end up with circa 1h30 to eat. Probably fine if a couple. Definitely not if a group. Definitely do not subscribe to this type of business model and don't think anyone should.

Take the train from London's Fourth District to St Alban and you'll get to The Waffle House in about an hour. Even on a rainy day, we have to queue up, which proves how supportive the foodies are. After waiting for a while, we were seated, which is so fast! My friends and I each tried the salted waffle (mushroom cheese/avocado & chickpea puree) which was so delicious! You can choose from three waffle flavors: original, wheat, or vegan. After I was full, I felt that it was not enough for my throat, so I encore the sweet triple chocolate waffle. Fortunately, it is not too sweet! It’s best to eat it together with coffee☕️! I’m thinking of trying other flavors of waffle next time

One of my most favourite places for meeting friends in St Albans. Love their whole meal waffle with pecan nuts with mint tea or coffee. I've been there countless times bringing numerous friends and they ALL love it. There are always plenty of parking in the yard, alfresco eating and drinking and friendly staff. If you eat too much, don't worry, the cathedral park is right opposite and you can take a walk around the lake. In my opinion, it's a perfect place in many ways. Highly recommend it.

I used to come here so much as it was an amazing place for food and a great atmosphere. I’ve been today, driving an hours journey to get there, only to feel a bit underwhelmed. I ordered the salmon and scrambled eggs which for £13 was a smaller portion size than I was expecting, it had only 1 tomato which seemed a bit pointless. I came with my baby son and whilst they claim to be a family friendly restaurant, the highchairs don’t have trays, which is extremely unhelpful when feeding a young baby who, like all babies, has a tendency to throw food! Consequently a lot went on the floor which then cannot be salvaged (because it is paving stone). The area in the restaurant which we were seated was very hot and this was acknowledged by the waiter. It made my baby uncomfortable and grouchy and resulted in us having to leave far earlier than I would have liked. All in all, a bit disappointed.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Waffle House, and it was truly an amazing experience! From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for a delightful meal. The staff’s exceptional service, marked by genuine smiles and attentiveness, made the visit even more enjoyable. Now, let’s talk about the star of the show – the waffles. They were nothing short of perfection! Golden brown, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside, each bite was a symphony of flavors. The menu variety and quality exceeded my expectations. What sets Waffle House apart, though, is not just the delectable food but the overall ambiance and the staff’s commitment to making patrons feel like valued guests. It’s evident that they take pride in creating a memorable dining experience. Still with plenty of it's pre-Covid charm, the food choice at the Waffle House is now more limited. Some old favourites - such as the spiced fruit waffle - have very sadly disappeared from the menu. The addition of a licence to sell alcohol is popular with younger people but it makes the restaurant not such a popular venue for families with young children. Maybe that's what the proprietors want. On the basis of one recent visit, there was not the same friendly rapport between diners and staff.

5 stars in my opinion is too little. The long queue at the start is definitely worth it, the location is brilliant with students from st Alban's school going in the afternoon and tonnes of parking round the back, very nice quaint garden with a fish pond, then you have the main building and the tent (extension to the main building), the staff are extremely friendly and promptly take you to your seat and give menus. There are big and small tables so can defiantly suit bigger families. The food is delicious and very fast to arrive, (the Sunday banoffee is my favourite). Once you are finished or whenever you like really you can go and see the old mill at the back of the building. Which is free to all people, it's almost like a little museum. Overall amazing food, amazing staff, amazing interior, amazing service and amazing location. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Long standing restaurant serving all things waffle. The garlic butter waffle was drenched in so much buttery goodness that I had to go to the Cathedral to confess for eating such a heavenly and sinful dish. More so, I was blown away by the savoury breakfast waffle with perfectly poached eggs and a velvety hollandaise. On the sweet front, both the cheesecake and pecan waffles did not disappoint. Food is pricy and there is normally a queue at the door so arrive early. Be careful about the staff casually upselling ice cream or guacamole for the waffles…everything is chargeable.

Only vegan friendly after 12pm! I went there in October with my mother and daughter for breakfast as it is one of my daughter's favourite places to eat. Until 12pm we were only allowed to select from the breakfast menu, which did not have any vegan options, despite offering vegan waffles. When I asked the waitress if I could just have a bit of hummus on a waffle I was told that it wasn't an option until 12pm, which was about an hour away. As a result I sat there without a waffle and watched my mother and daughter eat. Waiting staff are mostly disinterested college students from local schools (I know because my ex-wife teaches a fair few of them!) Went back about a month later but got tired of queuing after roughly half an hour of very little movement. Despite there being plenty of empty seats outside, apparently they were moving everyone inside due to impending rain. We would have been happy to sit and take our chances, and if we had been seated would have been able to finish our meal well before the rain. Frustration was compounded by the young man with a man-bun responsible for seating, prioritising laughing and joking and showing things on his phone to another member of staff rather than trying to move the queue along.

The food was really nice but the presentation of the place was a bit off and the food was nice but on the waffle there was to much chocolate sauce

Great place really enjoyed it. Some parts need decorating but still nice food

The food is of great quality and variety. There's always something new to try on their Specials Board. I love the waffle house. Service is always great!
