Lovely staff took our group in when our plans changed due to strikes and weather. We were thoroughly looked after and our trip to Edinburgh would have been very different without the staff here. Thank you

The ambiance at The Voodoo Rooms left much to be desired. Upon arrival, my party and I were seated at a small table placed awkwardly in the middle of the room, obstructing the flow of traffic and making us feel uncomfortable throughout our meal. Despite requesting to be moved to an available booth within the same room, our server declined our request, leaving us feeling ignored and unwelcome. The food was also very slow to arrive, we waited 50 minutes for our mains. The service provided by the staff was subpar, to say the least. Despite our polite request to be relocated to a more suitable table, our server refused to accommodate us, even though the requested booth remained unoccupied throughout our visit. Furthermore, when we mentioned our entitlement to a 20% discount as attendees of a gig at the restaurant, the server only provided a revised bill with a 10% discount. This discrepancy was only noticed after payment, suggesting a deliberate attempt to deceive or was it a mistake I wonder? My experience here was thoroughly disappointing.I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to others, and I urge potential diners to exercise caution before visiting.

We had a good time, the sound world is not suitable for those who like silence.

This was the best place we had drinks our whole trip! The atmosphere was amazing, the service was quick, the drinks were absolutely delicious, and the staff was so knowledgeable and friendly that they've made it a lasting memory when I think of Edinburgh.

Rory and Rex served us tonight and we couldn't have received better service, they were fantastic from start to finish, one of our party had a disability and they catered for our every need, the food was absolutely amazing, this is a wee hidden gem and we will return without a doubt. We'll done guys, absolutely fantastic place.

Exceptional service, cosy feel in a central albeit "hidden" location. Prices were very reasonable indeed considering the above. Would recommend 100%.

Absolute madness. I have rarely felt so taken care of and welcomed. The entire staff exudes this. There is also a selection of drinks and cocktails that is second to none. For us, a must-do every time we visit Edinburgh. And a special shout out to the young man at the bar whose grandad works at Glenkinchie Distillery. He advised me very patiently and I have had a favorite whiskey ever since.

Didn't have food but it looked good, nice place defiantly worth a visit.

I've wanted to try the Vodoo rooms for a long time and it didn't dissapoint. It's absolutely stunning inside and great intimate venue to see a band. We came from Glasgow to see a very talented band Deeke Mcgee Band 👌. The staff all seemed friendly, Great selection of different drinks, very busy place. I will be back

By far the most beautiful bar in the city and the people in service and at the bar are also very nice. The bar menu is great and the atmosphere is incredibly pompous and beautiful. Always happy to come here.

Staff are terrible e.g I was there with my mum & stepdad who are in there 80's (have a very young cool vide about them for there 80's) the manager wanted the table we were at for 8pm so at 7.35pm he came up to the table by standing a meter away and shouting in a army type voice that they needed the table at 8pm etc. I said to him there's no need to shout and why are standing so far away, he then talked over me as I explained we just need a nice word about requiring the table at 8pm - same chap came over again at 7.50pm and did his army shout again. This time I said please don't shout at us again, we are just about to go - that's when the lecture started and ended him calling me ruled. Moving on to the gig the barman was scruffy but cool and was none stop looking at his phone, although he did serve very quickly and was good at his job. I have to say he just seemed like he would rather not be there and some how a little to good for the job. Amazing venue and drinks/food were pretty good

My experience at Voodoo Rooms was average. We went mainly for drinks. I really love the ambience and the atmosphere. I read the reviews online that there cocktails are amazing and i tried Armed Strobbery which is my favourite and Vote for Pedro which i would say not to order not even by mistake.

Absolutely phenomenal drinks. Total first class service from Tanisha! Very very impressed.

Stopped by on my way to dinner with my partner and remembered my time here previously and had to show them the amazing venue. We were greeted in a very warm and friendly way by Tanisha who saw us to our table and gave utterly fantastic service throughout out time here even telling my partner the website they could find her stunning dress on. All in all, a fantastic experience I'd return to again and again

Fantastic small bar with a cozy gothic vibe.Really friendly staff and an excellent selection of beverages really lovely decor. They often have a lunar market in the evenings which has some great local handmade crafts and photography.

Summer and Weronica were the best!! First time at voodoo rooms and they’re the reason we’re coming back, we love their service, so kind ❤️❤️

This has always been my most favourite place for Martinis in Edinburgh and everytime I come for a visit I try to have at least one there :) Table service takes a bit longer every now and then but something I can live with.

We had the most wonderful experience at The Voodoo Rooms! When there was an issue with our meal, the staff were so friendly and helpful! Will definitely be going back!!

Great atmosphere, beautiful decor and good drinks

We visited here on Monday during a trip to Edinburgh and honestly all 5 of my stars go to our server Rex! Never had a waiter anywhere compare to his service and we eat out A LOT! Super helpful and couldn’t do enough for us even in the super busy festive period. The vibe and atmosphere is so good and the interior is simply gorgeous! We didn’t try any of the cocktails but they looked and sounded delicious and our food was delightful. All around impressed but definitely needed to give an extra emphasis on the staff especially Rex!

Disappointed with the food at least,, the beef was tough and the the traditional christmas turkey doesn't have brussels sprout.

The Voodoo Rooms is a bar for wonderful cocktails and a wide range of beers and spirits. They also have a delicious menu with lovely burgers, a vegan selection, and amazing tapas. You can also book rooms for any occasion here. They offer a variety of room sizes that are anywhere from 10 - 300 people. For birthdays, meetings, and gigs. Staff are always friendly and happy to help you out with any drink choices you may struggle to make. Although from the outside, the bar is accessed from an unassuming door down a side street. The decor inside has to be seen. And upon entering the bar, you really feel like you are somewhere special. It's a very popular cool bar, and yet when I go there, I always feel like I've stumbled into this secret that not a lot of people know about. A must visit bar for anyone visiting the city or for my fellow Edinburgh people on a night out. 👍

I’ve always loved the Voodoo Rooms, until this evening. Went there tonight with my partner, we were shown to a table by a waitress who went on to explain what ales they didn’t have. Ok, we are fine with that. My partner went up to the bar, stood for over 5 mins with no one behind the bar , BUT 3 staff stood at the end of same bar with no regard to people waiting to be served. Result - we gave up and left to go elsewhere. Shame it’ll make me think about ever going there again.

Avoid! Terrible food that was served cold. But worse than the food was service from the manager & rude staff. When we told her that the food was cold, which was a curry, she then decided to give us a complimentary plain bowl of rice with no curry on it. Then at the end when we had probably one of the worst with meals of our life, she took £3 off off the bill when we hadn’t touched barely any of our dinner. She said we took too long to complain, but that happens when no staff are in the room to tell. Eventually I got up to tell them about the issue and found them in a different room. The manager who I think was called Courtney (she told us her name was Beth) said there’s nothing else she can do. She just had no understanding that a curry is meant to be warm at least.

A gorgeous, quirky bar with a fab, relaxed, friendly atmosphere and the drinks were delicious! Well worth a visit if you’re in Edinburgh! The Interiors are great, with a few different rooms, so plenty of places to sit!

A bit noisy in a busy Friday night, but that's pretty much all I can say on the negative side. The service was perfect, and the waitress (Tanisha) even spoke a way better French than my poor English. The food was incredible (the prawns) and the cocktail I took was delicious.

Friendly staff, great cocktails and the food (specifically the burger and fries) was delicious. Generous food portions and overall good value for money. The atmosphere was buzzing and decor is impressive! The only reason I didn't give it the full 5 starts (would give 4.5 if I could) is that the toilets could do with a good clean and revamp.

The Voodoo Rooms boasts stunning aesthetics but falls short in creating a cozy ambiance. It's safe to say that the Voodoo bar is undeniably beautiful; everything is crafted with top-notch quality. However, the staff lacks friendliness, and the drinks are prepared without much care. Despite the grandeur, it exudes an empty and uncomfortable atmosphere. All in all, I'd recommend the average tourist to make a brief stop here, but don't anticipate spending more than half an hour.

Food was amazing, visited after the Fringe show and had an amazing time. The place was amazing, great menu and loved the Haggis !

Staff including bartenders, servers and woman bouncer at front door are all very rude and discriminatory. While the ambiance of the establishment itself is lovely, the food was average and service ruining anything positive about this place. Do not recommend.

Absolutely dreadful and appalling. I was treated with enormous disrespect. I was made to feel like a criminal and accused of lying. I'm completely appalled by how I was treated. It left me extremely upset and ruined the last day of our holiday to celebrate my daughter's success in her A levels and in securing her University place. I would not recommend this place at all. We came here to celebrate our last day at the Fringe and it was ruined. Truly horrible!

Friendly people nice Atmosphäre and flair

Lovely decor. Great drinks. Poor food. Aggressive bartender. The service is slow. Lots of new staff. Maybe the barman is the manager? He yelled in a way reminiscent of someone from a movie suffering from Tourette’s Syndrome. Shame. Shows how a nice spot can be diminished by poorly executing staff.

Great atmosphere, decoration and staff but that's what you're paying for, as the food doesn't quite match it's elevated price compared to other pubs. And some dishes are unexpectedly small compared to others.

Excellent food for fair prices. The staff was very friendly and the menu has plenty of options for everyone. The atmosphere is nice, it's all in the same style and the location is easily reachable. All in all had a great diner here and definetly advice you to visit the place.

We were part of a group of 6 that attended on Saturday afternoon for a private rum tasting event. Unfortunately our host was incapacitated and unable to attend due to an injury. We inturn dealt with the MD Lachlan, who was incredibly professional, offering sincere apologies. His customer service was exceptional and he offered a compromised experience which was fantastic. We appreciate that unexpected injuries or illness can take hold of staff. However Lachlan went above and beyond making our visit a very enjoyable experience. So much so that we cancelled our next booking and remained in. Voodoo rooms sampling the wonderful cocktails and rum that was on offer. The mixologists behind the bar, were polite and very knowledgeable. A lovely ambience mid afternoon prior to the Saturday evening shenanigans. We will most definitely be back.

What a gem. Just stumbled into this nice bar, where you can get really good food at reasonable prices, vegan friendly and awesome cocktails.

A relaxed atmosphere with pleasant, informal service in a very special inerior. Very nice cocktails. Definitely worth a visit when you're in the vicinity of St Andrews Square.

Excellent service from Courtney and Kai. We had the Bruschetta, olive tray, teriyaki prawns, and the fries to eat. They were all wonderful. Artemis, Free Bird, Not So Innocent, Rye Old Fashioned, Wray & Ting, and Cherry Trace were our drinks of choice and they were fabulous!

Excellent all around. The prices are fair, the atmosphere is unique and well-done, and the drinks are stellar! Honestly, I was surprised by the food. I expected it to match the hyper-casual, almost youthy punk tone of the music and attire but it came out looking and tasting like fine dining. Were we local, we'd be regulars.

Had a cocktail masterclass with the talented and very knowledgeable Rory today. Definitely recommend, can't comment on other staff members but if you are lucky enough to be paired with Rory, you'll have a great time and learn lots about cocktails and booze 🍸🍹

This place used to be cool. After asking for the staff to close the door due to the cold wind they decided to tell me I shouldn’t touch the door and then re open it. Its called hospitality folks and you’ve missed the point

Came here for a family member's birthday, table of 4 and ordered the christmas menu, the venue looks great; food was awful. Three of us had the roast beef and couldn't cut through it with steak knives, tough to a point of being inedible, none of us finshed the meal. Sticky Toffee Pudding for desert; dry as Ghandi's sandal. Told the wait staff the food wasn't right and they argued with us and said there wasn't a problem; didn't seem keen to take us up on the offer to try and cut it themselves though. Soured the night to be honest, won't be back.

Really disappointing experience having been visiting for nearly 2-decades. Arrived (11/24) with a small group of 4ppl and ignored at the bar for 20min (whilst other patrons kept being served) before leaving. Stunning venue, let down by what appears to be hugely discourteous staff.

The food took over an hour to arrive - there was no apology or explanation - this was almost as long as trying to get waiters attention to order some drinks for the table. The burger, going at a rather extortionate price, was presented with chips which looked like it came from a school canteen, not only that it was dry! The waiter also argued with us about one of the drinks this issue was so unnecessary. Having previous hospitality experience its clear that voodoo rooms has gone extremely down hill, so do not get fooled by the beautiful design of the place. My friend, had paid by cash while the other in card - and only the day after we have realised the waitress has overcharged us by £20. After calling voodoo rooms for this issue we were told they would call back yet no response or effort to resolve the issue(what does that say about this place). Shameful how this place used to be so lovely.

Aesthetic is cool but the food was so poor given the price. Even if it had cost less than £10 it was very basic and badly cooked but at £16-£18 a dish it was shocking value for money. Also wouldn’t rAte the cocktails. Mine was wayyy too sweet.

Such an Amazing place, staff very helpful and friendly. Funky, fun and chill. Good choice of vegan food on the menu, might go back and give the big bad meaty haggis a go! Depending on how brave I’m feeling. Up market but at the same time not snobby.

Gorgeous place, very imposing. Love the decor but I also enjoyed the food and cocktails. The watermelon salad was amazing and I have no words to describe how tasty the haggis tacos were, regular and vegan! If I lived in Edinburg this would be a regular spot for me.

Honest review. Reserved an area in the main bar for after my wedding meal on the 6th of October. Deposit paid months in advance. 9 o'clock on the button we show up, the area was occupied. I didnt panic I went to speak to a staff member. While I was doing so another staff member went over to my group of guests shouting ( over loud music ) whos such and such ( my name ) because we have no booking here for her. It turned out my deposit was left in the safe for me in an envelope with my name on it. Proof of my booking right there.... I accepted my deposit back as agreed, once you show up you receive it back. I found 2 separate seating areas, I sat here with my guests instead & never mentioned another word. I wasnt going to even leave this review until I was told by some of my guests in the last week about the staff member mouthing off there's no booking there for me, when that wasn't true at all. I had made a booking months in advance and paid full deposit. So guys... Accidents happen i get it, some people don't communicate in work I also get that. But don't handle a situation thats completely been caused by yourselves be handled so badly next time please!

Such a fun experience! Came for cocktails and dinner with a girlfriend, and the atmosphere was so fun and quirky and excitable. Can get really busy in the evenings so plan ahead! Would love to come back soon.

First and probably last time in. The place LOOKS amazing and we were blown away! Super crowded though, and had to wait 30 minutes to use the toilet as the toilets are weirdly tiny compared to the rest of the venue. Tried to get a drink at the bar before the Illicit Thrills show last night and the bar tender kept looking through me and serving everyone else. Got to the point where I had been standing for 20 minutes and had to give up as the show was starting! Not a great impression unfortunately

Visited on 24 of august. Saw some great fringe shows. Want to give a special shout-out to the bartenders working that night, especially the one with the tree tattoos on his arm. He went above and beyond to make my experience top notch. Beautiful venue. Great time.

Good shows. Food ok. Very slow and rude staff, have such a stupid cocktail menu then mock us in front of us for asking for a strawberry sling instead of the stupid drinks on their own menu after telling us to order any other thing we wanted

A gem with it's own quirky features. You feel you are in opulent splendour with a casual style. The staff are genuinely lovely. The food was yummy compliments to the chef 10 out of 10 😊

Shocking service, will never go back. We travelled through from Glasgow for my friends 30th birthday, we had booked space for 14 of us. As soon as we arrived the staff had attitude. We had seen online that you could order by the bottle, so decided to do this but were refused. Firstly we were told that we couldn’t be served by the bottle as “multiple members of our party were too drunk to be served”… this clearly wasn’t the case and when we asked who exactly was too drunk, the story changed that the menu online was out of date. We could tell at this point that the staff were just being difficult so we decided to leave. I then witnessed 2 staff members laughing and making immature comments about how it was “such a shame” we were leaving because they “kicking us out” even though we’d decided to leave on our own accord. They clearly judged us as soon as we entered and I don’t understand why take the booking if you don’t want large groups together. It was obviously difficult to find somewhere else to allow entry for 14 people without a table booking and really put a dampener on the day. Staff were so rude and I couldn’t believe the level of service from multiple staff members.

It’s a good venue for bands, just a shame some of the people who came to see the band I’m in were unruly and as a consequence my band is now band from playing this venue. The antics of the few have ruined it for the majority.

I go often, also my fiancee likes it as it resembles new Orleans bars:)

A gem in a great city centre location handy for all transport links, a classy establishment on the three occasions I've visited it's been for gigs and it's a great venue but many visit just for the bar and eating facilities, they have a fantastic range of spirits particularly Gin, but also an exceptionally well stocked bar in general, the prices are high but probably synonymous with its city centre location, heartily recommend a visit

Visited on 5th July to see Courtney Marie Andrews in concert. Bar area is very nice and performance area was relatively small and intimate and all the better for that.

I have some great memories of being in the bar upstairs and in all the function rooms from ceilidhs to discos, festival events to friends parties. They do them all. Highly recommended. Also in the bar upstairs the food is tasty and the cocktails are very nice. The place we had for my friends party is like the 80s disco room so the dance floor is straight out of Saturday Night Fever. Is it the only one in Edinburgh?! I don't know for sure. Feel the toilets in this room could be done with a revamp and maybe some plumbing as sometimes they smell. That's my only gripe. Very central location too so easy for transport.

Fantastic atmosphere , service and cocktails

The bar is glamorous and the rooms are good for live music. Really enjoyed Bad Monkey (I think that was the name of the band performing) last week.

This place is a gem! I greatly appreciate a vegan option, an actual tasty one at that! The mushroom stroganoff was perfect! It was so flavorful! My non vegan friend even picked into my plate. Great drinks! The staff were friendly and attentive! The decor of this place was amazing; looked like something out of a movie. I’ll definitely slide by on my next trip!
