Love the place great food, great people.

Do not order from this take away! This was always my go to Indian take away until I walked in to collect my order and see the chef flipping rice with he's bare hands, then licked his fingers and flipped the rice again! I am absolutely gob smacked and feel sick to my stomach. Absolutely gutted I drive 15 mins from my home to go to this specific take away and I always recommend it!

The butter chicken here is my absolute favourite! And the biryani is delicious too.

Such good Indian food! The flavours were spot on and authentic, the portions sizes were really generous, super quick and friendly service. Definitely exceeded my expectations, will without a doubt be ordering from here again 😋

An absolute local grem! I’m not a big fan of spice but the rest of my family are and this place always caters to everyone’s tastes. Highly recommend the Bombay aloo and biryani.

The best Indian takeaway spot in the St Albans area. I have never been disappointed with the service given from the village spice, delivery’s are always on time and the food is always amazing. The menu has a wide variety of food to fulfil any desires, a personal favourite of mine is the butter chicken they also have a nice selection of noodles too.

I was passing through Park Street, and went into the Village Spice for a curry and saw they had noodles on the menu too! Gave them a try and wasn’t disappointed. Had the village special noodles loaded with chicken, beef and prawns!! The tikka noodles were great too.

A regular customer at ‘The Village Spice’ and I am never disappointed ! Food is always the same standard (amazing) so well priced for the quality of the food! Food is always on time, staff always go above and beyond !

Have just got a curry from village spice , it was awful the rice was stodgy I'm sure it was a batch from lunch time my garlic chicken was like chicken in a tin of tomato soup the poppadoms where soggy and the nan was hard we are regulars but not anymore

I first cooked indian food 40 years ago, and i have been a regular customer of the Village Spice since it first opened many years ago, and I feel lucky to have such an excellent establishment in How Wood.

I requested a bulk delivery for a party from the village spice and it exceeded my expectation! I had a family event of 30 people and we were all very pleased with the all the dishes provided. We were pleasantly surprised with a few extra freebies. Overall a great experience especially if you’re hosting an event or small get together.

I was in Park Street and I tried this place for the first time. Delicious food, good portion size at a reasonable price compared to other places. I also received great service. Plus I got 10% discount when I collected

Good take-away curry from this restaurant. A pity they've started charging so much for delivery but I guess they took a business decision. It means I won't order as often from them as before but they've become a treat rather than a weekly event.

I have been using this Take Away for over 25 years and have few complaints. The food is normally excellent. However, every so often the service goes pear shaped. The order is wrong and the delivery can be 90 minutes late with no apology or refund offered. This is probably staff related but even the offer of 1 free starter, or similar, to a regular customer is disappointing. Sadly, I might start to order from a competitor....I have enough menus stuck through me letterbox to choose from. SUMMARY: Food is fabulous, but customer service is woeful. Mark, Park Street.

Absolutely love our local indian takeaway/ delivery service. The food is excellent flavours are gorgeous and succulent soft chicken, delivered nice and hot and generally in 30-45 mins when busy. Great choice menu and great team

I normally don’t do reviews but hands down the best indian/bangladeshi food I’ve had in a while!! I didn’t know what to order and the gentleman at the front recommended me a few dishes. I decided to go for the lamb biriyani & chicken shashlik and it was absolutely amazing!!! The customer service was really good, definitely would go again!

Ordered for the family, they accommodated to our spice and salt level, as the kids don’t like too much spice and my husband has high blood pressure. Amazing service, great quality food and fast delivery!

Ordered a takeaway for 2, not loads of food. Absolutely awful, over priced and the quality of the food has halved since new owner. Chicken dish for 2 to share had 6 bits of chicken the rest was onion. The veg dish was similar, all juice no actual veg. Really disappointed. Been going here for 8 years. Not again.

This place has gone down hill again. The amount of chicken delivered in a portion is ridiculously small. I suspect they'd rather reduce portion size than raise prices to avoid reprinting the menus.

Very nice Indian takeaway I had on my break whilst at work. They made food to my level of extra spice that I wanted - naga! I will definitely be coming to this place more often.

Tried to support my local take away, but would not order from them again. They made me wait 20 minutes for food which I had pre-ordered, the food was under-seasoned, bland and un-loved.

I would not recommend ordering from here. Second time i ordered from here and is my biggest regret. Previously before ordered a keema with a madras was fine, i ordered a chicken tikka biryani, comes with a curry which was piping hot but the biryani was not even warm which raised my suspicions. I proceeded to eat it taste wise was alright. Had ate it around 6ish. Went to bed around 12 so plenty of time for my dinner to digest, woke up at 4 am today vommitted 3 times and have had extreme diarrhoea, i am writing this review at 5:30am in the morning after an episode because I'm adamant that i want this review to be seen by others so that they can make an informed decision but also for spice village to be aware of this issue so they can improve business for the health and safety kf their customers, i'm lucky enough that I'm a young and healthy adult imagine if i was an older gentleman/ woman things would have been a lot harder to cope. Overall really unhappy that i have to go through this as i have work on the Saturday!

Now use this as our regular curry place. Good food and good value for money.

The food is very good. There are occasional delays which are sometimes caused more by the "Chef On Line" booking process than the venue itself but definitely the best of the local Indian Takeaway's.

Excellent food. Very efficient friendly staff. Always enjoy our meal. I run and Airbnb opposite and recommend to everyone. Particularly good veggie food and speciality dishes.

Food is lovely here. Lots of choice on the menu and always quick to get your order done on time. You get a bonus of 10% off your bill if you pick up the food order yourself too!

We found a piece of plastic in the chilli chicken masala :( May I say, it takes a lot for me to give a 1 star review but I truely felt it was warranted. We had it delivered so it wasn't in the restaurant. The food itself was... alright. I had the lamb reshmi and it had almost no flavour apart from a hint of mint. The naan and rice were the best parts and the chilli masala was definately spicy... maybe I've just been ruined by the curries I've had in Worcester where I live, but the the food from this restaurant was nothing to write home about. And when my husband pulled a piece of plastic out of his mouth that was the final nail in the coffin. I sincerely hope they were just having an off night.

Of all the take away Indian establishments in the area, we find this by far the best. The food is excellent and if you order online then it is always ready and well packaged on time. Plenty of parking outside and well priced in comparison to others. Well worth a visit.

We have been eating food from the Village Spice for over 6 years now. We have never been disappointed. My favorite is the lamb tika vindaloo. Carefully though it very hot.

My Indian Takeaway of choice. Have been receiving excellent meals for a number of years and they are consistently the best in the area!

The staff are pleasant enough. The food is full of flavour, good portion sizes, authentic tasting and a free poppadom is usually included. The dishes are not greasy, the meat is lean and the veg/herbs/spices always fresh tasting. I love their lamb madras especially - the right ratio of sauce to quality meat. I recommend the phone and collect direct to the restaurant as the delivery is slow and the food can be a little chilled, plus you get a reduced price upon collection. If they nailed the delivery by being quicker and piping hot as it is upon collection then I would give this takeaway full marks.

Don't know why there are so many negative reviews I've had takeaways here for years and love their food. Granted they seem to forget bits every so often if you want it delivered but when you pick it up don't seem to have that problem.

Just moved to Park Street village and we were keen to find an Indian takeaway as the village is quite small. Food was quick, tasty and good value. We will order again as it's convenient.

These guys are cheats calling themselves an Indian take away whilst they are Bangladesis where all they get and eat is rice and fish, Indian my foot-imposters
