A really nice lunch and lots of gluten free choices. We popped in for lunch and were very impressed with the polite and attentive service as well as the delicious lunch.

We come up to the area a couple of times a year and always stay in the immediate area, we always eat here. This time after so much time over the years telling some family how good it was they came away with us too and yes on both our nights we ate here and was as good as ever and the other 4 in our party agreed too. We will be back in March. X

Lovely friendly staff and proper fresh home cooking. Loved the Halloween decorations and the staff singing along to the music. Fab place.

We had a couple of other choices to choose from as we was staying at the caravan site at Luss, for 2 days but we decided to go into this quaint, “The Village Rest” well what a lovely place, on this occasion we was only having a drink, tea for the lady and a large wine for myself, they where quite busy and even though we wasn’t eating they found us a lovely table, as you do, well we do, we looked at the food coming out and the reactions on the other customers face when there food arrived, it was excellent, I asked the couple at the side of us what was there food like, top notch was his answer. The following day we went back to Luss village to visit one of the other Inns but could not go past “The Village Rest” so we went in and ordered the same as the day before, Ian, Joyce, Adam and the team instantly made us us feel genuinely welcome spending time to talk in such a busy “GEM” of a place, you might ask why we hadn’t eaten there, well we had Scallops from the fish monger that needed to be eaten. This review might sound a bit over the top but trust me if you drive by, you have missed a GEM of place eating and drinking Thank you guys hope you have a lovely holiday From June n Tony done the nc500 ❤️

Fabulous bistro, clean, welcoming and very friendly. Great menu choices, very reasonably priced, and the veggie chilli was excellent, best I've ever had! I was on my own and staff were so friendly, I didn't feel at all uncomfortable.

Fast service, excellent food. All of our friends was very happy. The waitress split the bill into 11 parts one by one as per food in no time.

We were staying in Luss for the night on the way to Skye. Came in for dinner and can’t fault it at all. Fish and scampi were delicious! Plus the bottle of wine was lovely too!

Food was fantastic , we had a lunch and two dinners here , The staff were all lovely ,highly recommended.(Dog friendly too !)

We have been a couple of occasions now for some evening food and what more can be said apart from FRIENDLY! The amazing team here clearly care about their restaurant and their customers. This restaurant was extremely dog friendly, in fact they seem to worship the for legged k9s. The particular lady was giving dog treats. As a dog owner this is so special and something worth shouting about as our sausage doggo really hates people but he loved them. The food was exceptional. Steak done perfectly to how I like it and they listen to ever catering request and deal with it promptly and efficiently with absolutely no complaints. The decor is stunning and overall phenomenal. They charged my phone for me as we were staying at a nearby campsite with no power. True credit <3

These guys are obsessed with dogs and I love it. My little fluffy thing loved all the attention and treats!! The food was tasty and quick to serve. You can get take away too if you’re in a rush. Overall a great little cafe pit stop in the nicest village in Loch Lomand

Stopped in for lunch asked fir light lunch of children's menu. Not allowed. Big mistake. Lost a sale. Local and visit often and not a priblem before. Gentleman was rude when we arrived coukd not choose where we wanted to sit!

We went to Village Rest yesterday for lunch. It was lovely. Such lovely staff and the food was delicious. Liked it so much had to go back for breakfast today. Our daughter and daughter in law had the full Scottish and loved it. I had a bacon bap with potato scone . My husband had eggs on toast. Staff were lovely, whole experience was excellent. Can whole heartedly recommend this place.

We ate here last night as family of four with grandparents in tow. All I can say was that there were pretty much 6 clean plates at the end of the main course, the only exception being a few not able to finish everything as very hearty portions and wanting to save room for dessert!We’d read about the chips in a previous review and can confirm they are some of the best we have tasted in a long time. My Cajun burger was also up there with the best I’ve ever tasted. Who’s have thought that would be the case in little old Luss? Would highly recommend paying it a visit any time of day.

Popped in at lunchtime and it wasn't that busy, less than half full. The menu looked great and the tripadvisor reviews were good, but we struggled to get any service. 10 mins before anyone approached with menus and after further 15 mins of trying to attract attention we gave up and left and went elsewhere. The young staff seemed to gather around the serving area chatting.

Had lunch with family and dog. Staff lovely. Food excellent. Dropped in on route to Glencoe. Lunch was so good family all want to return on way back. We'll done Village Rest team.

We loved Luss generally and stayed an extra night while visiting in a campervan. We fancied a takeaway on our last night and The Village Rest was friendly, quick and the food was very tasty. The black pudding fritters are a game changer!!

Great service from friendly, smiling staff. A varied menu, the food was well cooked, plentiful and arrived promptly, the cakes are well worth sampling. A cosy and warm feel about the place.

The much-heralded (their words) chippy was shut - not that you would know it unless you walk top to the front door and ask a local... so headed to the Village Rest and glad we did. Lovely welcome for dogs and families, charming and helpful staff and a good menu. We coaxed the waitress to let us have a nice bespoke prawn wrap and the tomato soup of the day was a 100 times better than you get in a tin.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat whilst passing through the lovely village of Luss. Ate outside in the cute little courtyard. Service with a smile and no complaints about the food. My mum also very much appreciated the beautiful flowers in the hanging baskets!

We stayed just around the corner in Glenview Luss (I believe the same owner as this restaurant) that we can also thoroughly recommend. The food here was excellent. Lovely restaurant in a beautiful little village right on the shores of Loch Lomond. They serve all day long and it is very popular. Well worth a visit.

This bistro looks really good on their website and we were looking forward to having lunch there but they allow dogs inside.I accept dogs being allowed outside tables with their owners BUT inside they allow up to 4 dogs t a time!!! Took one look inside and we walked away.When are we going to get back to banning dogs from eateries it's very unhygienic in my opinion??

We were staying at the B&B next door so this was very handy for dinner. We could see the place was always busy (a good sign) so booked the day before. Terrific choice of food and wine, good portions and really tasty! Great service - a really friendly little place that we would have gone back to if staying longer in the area.

Stopped here for dinner on our way home and had a mixed experience. Nice seating area outside where you order from a separate window around the corner such a good idea although the window was not always maned so seemed sometimes a queue was forming. Couldn't get an Internet connection to do the track and trace when brought this to the attention of staff they said there was no alternative staff wearing masks although not always correctly. Waited for someone to take our order seemed like ages although probably wasn't as long as we thought but frustrating none the less when staff were just all standing about at the bar area talking. Food was really nice and very well priced service wasn't as good with no one checking everything was okay or if we needed anything else. Floor could definitely do with a sweep at some point throughout the day as there was alot of food lying about! I will stop again and hopefully the service will match the food next time!

On our way home from Loch Ness, we stopped there for an early lunch. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We sat outside, as it was a beautiful day. The food was good, but not outstanding.

Stopped here by chance whilst visiting Luss and knew my two young boys would want dinner. We ordered food not really expecting much, while it looks quaint and had nice outdoor seating to enjoy the good weather (although unfortunately lacked the views of other places in the area) we expected it to be more cafe/pub food for tourists. We were pleasantly mistaken. The food we had was very nice, I couldn’t fault it and I’m fussy! Even the beer was good. Worth a stop for dinner before you leave.

We visited this cafe/bistro twice on our trip. My daughter loved the Sausage Breakfast Bap and my partner and I each had the Vegetarian breakfast. Neither of us are Vegetarians but this option was soooo good!! It filled us both up and set us in good stead for the rest of the day! On another visit I had the Scones with Cream and Jam. These were yummy! The came out warm (something I have never experienced before) and they were absolutely delicious! Reasonably priced and the best coffee in Luss!

A really lovely breakfast that was fit for a king or a queen! Really tasty sausage patty, thick toast, lovely fried egg and much more. Well worth the £8! Lovely service also and dog friendly. Lovely place.

Beef and mushroom pie was huge and very reasonably priced- possibly the best pie we have had. The |Village rest is relatively small so would recoment booking- particularly during Covid restriction time and note that the bistro last orders are 7.30pm

Visited here on our way to Fort William. Nice restaurant but the food was very average. My daughter ordered the egg mayonnaise and cress sandwich with soup. Soup was good by sandwich was a big disappointment. It was mostly mayonnaise and you could have bought better in Tesco’s for a fraction of the price. I had the carrot cake which was very nice. Overall we were disappointed. Over £7 for an egg sandwich which was mostly mayonnaise was disappointing.

I'm so glad we found the Village Rest after a long drive, it was just what we needed. Stress free ordering, super efficient and friendly service, and very well thought out Covid secure measures in place. Our burger, scampi and macaroni cheese were all great, and the coffee was super too. If we lived closer, we would be back often!

What a great start to our trip to Scotland! Fab little cafe in Luss with a great varied menu at lunchtime. Lots of tables reserved inside but as it was a warm and sunny afternoon we sat outside. We had haddock and chips, jacket potato with veg curry, a cheeseburger and chilli con carne. Portions were huge!Would definitely come back if in Loch Lomond

We called here for lunch and as one of us is gf&df and df I have to do research beforehand and this Cafe was on my list . They did not disappoint and we had the most delicious meal. The member of staff who served us was very helpful in assisting us to the right food too.

Fabulous food, lovely staff and an all round fantastic experience. Family of 5 with 2 dogs welcomed and served so quickly by very friendly staff. We will be back!

Lovey location and food was good quality home cooked food. Would have been 5* but the service was slow despite there being a lot of staff working.

We had jacket potatoes and nachos. Both tasty, but you can’t go really wrong with jacket potatoes and nachos anyway! The service wasn’t the best, it took a while when we walked in to be able to talk to a member of staff, and then, because we chose an outside table, we had to queue for 15 minutes to order our food, which wasn’t made clear to us initially.

Walked in, no information regarding if you take seat or place an order at the bar? We took a seat anyway. Plenty of staff visible however no one approached us, still the staff appeared to be having a nice time! Ended up walking out in the end. No one appeared to notice anyway. Disappointed in all round experience.

The family needed a break from the sun (yes, hot sun!) We popped in for a light bite but ended up eating very well indeed. Gluten-free options on the menu including sandwiches, chips, chilli, cajun chicken ... bit pricy, chilli was £12 but did come with all the trimmings. Cajun chicken was lovely too, we licked our plates clean! Sadly no gluten free cake options on the day we ate, shame, we could have found space in our tummies for cake too.

The Village Rest is a roomy, bright and nicely decorated space to have tea after a day of exploring Luss and Loch Lomond. We liked that our little doggie and our vegan were made welcome (three vegan options on menu, and quite a few vegan sides). The food was decent and the portions were a good size however we felt it was a little over-priced for what it was.Staff were very friendly, warm and welcoming and the atmosphere was equally as inviting.

Excellent lunch and great menu, wraps v good, Mac cheese and bacon excellent, BLT also v good. And very dog friendly, our wee guy had a chargrilled chicken breast cut into strips. Service was cheerful and pretty quick. Highly recommended!

First time we have ate here, just walked in and we were served right away. Ordered a wrap, kids fish fingers and a Caesar salad. The food was lovely, there was a mistake made with the order and the staff were very friendly when I questioned I had the wrong item. Staff went above and beyond with it not being an issue and were very nice with no attitude. The grilled chicken tasted like it had been on the bbq and the salad was more than a basic Caesar. Was absolutely delicious and would definitely go back on a future visit. The fish fingers were huge and I was worried my child wouldn’t eat them because they didn’t look like her normal ones. She said they were good and she is very fussy, leaving food in most places we go. This was a plus. Would recommend everyone to give it a try.

We have eaten here three times now on visits to Luss and have never been disappointed. You are made very welcome as staff are very friendly and the building itself is unique and beautiful and also very clean with excellent Covid procedures. Menu is excellent with plenty of choices for everyone. We opted for a prawn sandwich, ham and cheese with branston pickle sandwich and cajun fries. All were very fresh and a very good portion.....cajun fries were spicy as they should be! All in all, we`ll come back next time we visit as it is just perfect, can`t go wrong with any of the dishes offered. I just wish we had room for one of the lovely cakes on offer, they looked wonderful.

Lovely little pub abd had there own brew lager very nice. Dog friendly and water bowls provided. Food was good, but unfortunately I ordered the ham cheese and pickle sandwich and just got ham but it wasn’t a big problem and I ate it anyway, they were busy and I think it was just a communication issue. This was a welcome stop after the faerie trail. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the food very good, the only minor omission being the option of a vegan or dairy-free desert. Inside seating is well spaced out. There is a great play park outside for kids, recently re-done: great.

A nice drive to Luss to us to The Village Rest, first time we visited was a few years ago, back again and pleased to say nothing has changed, friendly staff, a little bit of a wait at the “side window” to Order food (if dining outside,), this I did feel could be improved as I did stand for almost 15 mins and only two others in front of me, despite this the food was outstanding, reasonably priced and delicious! , presentation was lovely too, my friend and I both really enjoyed our lunch, we had black pudding fritters, to start, chilli enchiladas and Cajun chicken mains, we also had coffee and tea , we both had a massive homemade scone, served with cream and jam, just lovely., they had lots of cakes of offer in the fridge inside to choose from. Lovely setting and will rerun soon! Thanks

We stopped here on our way round Loch Lomond and I tell you this is not one to be missed!I fancy myself a bit of a foodie, I love any food involving cheese especially so I was very happy to see Macaroni Cheese on the menu. This is hands down the best macaroni cheese I have ever had! So cheesy and delicious! If I died and went to heaven this is what I imagine the macaroni cheese would be like!The portion sizes were very generous! I barely finished my macaroni cheese let alone the fries and salad. My boyfriend had the chicken goujons which also were a very large portion. He said his meal was lovely and very well cooked. The prices were very reasonable and we would definitely return. To sum up:•reasonably priced•generous portion sizes•tasty food•lovely atmosphere•friendly staff•central location

My 2 year old has a dairy allergy, which is normally not an issue when going for a meal. We asked the waiter what are the dairy free options on the kids menu, he came back with “chicken salad” is the only thing that’s dairy free, I questioned is that really all you can offer because he will quite clearly will not eat a salad and the waiter shrugged his shoulders and said that’s what the chef said. It’s just pure lazy and they we’re far from interested in making our experience a great one, so if you or your child has a dairy allergy AVOID because this establishment is far from interested in catering for you!

Very accommodating and great service. Food was good, has a cafe/bistro type vibe. They allow dogs which is a major plus for us. Menu was varied. We didn't book and was near closing time but they seated us with no bother which was much appreciated. Staff were great thank you

We went here Wed 09/06/2021 , after our dinner was cancelled at the Pier last minute We were 4 adults and 1 child arrived and greeting by very nice waiter showed us to our table, came took our drink and food order Starters were fantastic and soup was piping hotDinners were followed amazing quality and food was delicious The Village rest gets a thumbs up from us great food, great, prices and really nice staff will definitely go back

So happy we came here after our boat trip. We booked ahead and they happily moved us outside instead of the two tables inside we had reserved. I opted for the vegetarian enchiladas which were absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the draft beers too and the coffee was top notch. Very happy all round!!

Really enjoyed my lunch here today. The service is excellent and the place is spotless clean. Food is as can be expected for a cafe. Nothing fancy but fills you us and is tasty.

Stopped for a Breakfast with my husband , I had Scottish he had a bacon and sausage breakfast roll. We were looking forward to a good cup of coffee and it didn’t disappoint! Double espresso with steamed milk was perfect! Hit the spot. Staff were friendly even though busy. Breakfast delicious every bit! Egg perfectly cooked and thick bacon with Scottish sausage. My only complaint was only one slice of toast, that said proper butter so they were forgiven ☺️ husbands roll was brioche, he ate it, but if I had ordered i wouldn’t have as to sweet for me, so would be nice to be advised of that or given choice. Toilets spotless, all in all a lovely place for breakfast in Luss

This place is so lovely. Always visit at least once when I'm staying at the campsite.Stopped off for breakfast. Lovely and fresh food. My dog is always made welcome and fuss off, thank you. Staff are doing a grand job in very trying tines. Can't wait for my next visit.

We were staying on the campsite nearby (about ten minutes walk away) and had breakfast here - on both mornings as it was so good! Friendly service, quickly seated and the dog made a fuss of with water bowl and treats. Also careful covid measures in place. The breakfast portions are just right, plentiful but not so you can't move for the rest of the day! Perfect to set you up for a day's hike or day on the water. Food hot, tasty and cooked to order - what's not to like?

As soon as lockdown restrictions were lifted, we travelled to The Village Rest for lunch. Tracy and Kevin were very welcoming and friendly. Been here several times and always delighted with the service and quality of the food. Great menu and portion sizes. Soup and sandwich tasted absolutely delicious. Great vegetarian choices. Definitely worth travelling for a day out with lunch.

We stopped at the Village Rest on our way up to the highlands for my birthday holiday. It’s quaint and cozy with hearty food. A great place to shelter from the rain. The service was very good.

We spent one night in Luss on the very first day after lockdown has been lifted a bit in Scotland. We had a dinner here which we loved so much. I have been working in hospitality for over 10years in England so I can be very judging and picky time to time. Our dinner was just as perfect as it supposed to be. Service was lovely, food was nicely presented and perfect hot. Unfortunately we couldn’t fit dessert even tho we were so much into the cakes and ice cream.Definitely recommend !!

We visited in August with my sister and had a lovely lunch sitting outside in the sunshine! The service was great, the food great and the surroundings great! The only fault we found was to do with a couple on the next table who had two dogs with them and one of them not on a lead and it constantly pestered us for food....all the owners could say was it wouldn't hurt us! Sorry, but that isn't what we expect when sitting in a café! We felt the management ought to have dealt with this and had they done that, they'd have had a 5 star review!

We dined her at the end of October, the food was fabulous- I had the chilli which was home cooked and tasted amazing and the rest of the family enjoyed the freshly made ciabatta sandwiches. Lovely place - friendly staff and super fast service!

Was back in here recently after a long absence and was so relieved that the high standards of food and service haven't suffered. Food is still amazing with great options and portions, particularly for us veggies. Staff are still friendly and welcoming and despite the recent Covid restrictions, the place still has a really great atmosphere. Love seeing the dogs dotted around the place and can't wait to go back.

We could not have been treated better in The Village Rest had we been close family members. Thoroughly enjoyed our late morning stopover this week - it left us feeling better for having visited. All current guidelines implemented, dietary requirements were graciously dealt with and the pup was thoroughly spoilt! My warm, home-made fruit scone was so big that I kept half of it for later in the day! Hope to return some day.

We were late into Luss on the way back from a long day out. We looked at a couple of pubs, however in these covid paranoid times we didn't feel comfy. From the outside this looks life a house, and I didn't have great expections as I thought the take away menu looked pricey. What a pleasant shock I got once inside.Decor is 'different', it's got a 1970s Frankie and Benny's (if it were a Scottish chain brand) thing going on.Good covid measures, felt safe throughout.Dog friendly and the staff made a fuss of him, which always bumps your score in my eyes.Food was decent, good size portion's, seemed fresh rather than microwaved, and excellent in terms of value. Staff were very friendly.Bit of a hidden gem.

Lovely country pub with good quality grub.Lots of safety measures implemented with Covid and the staff were cleaning the entire time we were there.Huge menu with all the pub classics and a couple of vegan options too.I got the vegan burger and it was delicious and a huge portion. Other vegan options were a curry and I think a salad - so all bases covered. Is it fancy food? No. It’s a quaint country pub with good home style cooking and fast service.And if you want a pint, one of the few places in central Scotland you can enjoy an outdoor drink!

Dog friendly and staff were nice but the food was not great. Lentil soup was the highlight but the fat the chips and crispy chicken was cooked in must need changed, as it tasted unpleasant. Reading the reviews before I went raised my expectations, so was disappointed.

We have been here a few times and the first with our second child. Food was tasty and quick which is important with kids. Very nice wedding anniversary meal. Staff friendly as usual. Felt safe during these covid times.

We were recommended this eatery, and boy did it live up to expectations! My wife had steak and I had the Cajun chicken. Both good sized meals and were delicious. The draught lager is brewed in Glasgow I think and was excellent.

While staying in Luss for a couple of nights we called in here for coffee and cake. All the food looked excellent and the cake we had was very tasty. The service was friendly and helpful, and very competitively priced, we would visit again if in the area.

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal here.staff were very attentive and food and drinks are reasonably priced. It was just lacking in atmosphere as the venue is not fully open for evenings, maybe a bit of background music, and the front door was open all evening so everyone kept their coats on!

Me and my family found this beautiful restaurant in luss whilst we were staying at a nearby hotel.The food here is amazing and the staff are the most friendliest I have come across in a long time.They had social distance, track and trace and a one way system which worked perfect.We will definitely be back here the next time we are in luss.

We turned up for our lunch booking and were greeted and seated right away,our server was very attentive and helpful and welcoming,food was amazing,i had a crispy chilli chicken salad,and was amazed at the abundance of chicken and salad and dainty warm potatoes,great value for the quality and quantity,the ambience and decor were very inviting and was a very positive experience,the covid precautions were very easy to undestand and the one way system avoided confusion. great place to come

We enjoyed a lovely meal here and then breakfast the following morning. Both were really nice and the staff were friendly too. Lots of covid safe precautions in place which was good to see.

This is the first time we've visited but it certainly won't be the last. Food was fantastic and would highly recommend the steak pie which was packed full of flavour. The vegan curry was just every bit as good too.

Went to the local pub on our first night for a meal but it was full. We walked along and found The Village Rest and are very glad we did. The staff are lovely and helpful and the COVID regulations in place were well organised and explained to you. We had 4 evening meals here. Had something different every time and all the meals were lovely. Would definitely recommend.
