Very friendly staff and a warm welcome. Excellent service and very prompt, excellently cooked food. Tapas amazing, superb steak. The star was the home made sticky toffee pudding and salted caramel ice cream. The chef, Mark, walked the floor, ensuring everyone was happy with their food and service. The Victory transports 'pub grub' to a whole new level. The food is without exception outstanding. The pub is cosy & welcoming, with wooden floors & a fireplace for the winter. Both the Abbot Ale & IPA are both good beers & the pumps are kept clean. It's also the local pub for the RNLI crew, so there's always a good yarn to be heard.Highly recommended.

Went in on the off chance and the staff had a table we could use for dinner, the food was amazing and staff very friendly If you are ever in Walton a must and you enjoy excellent food this is the place to eat 10/10 fantastic

We planned to go to the beach at Frinton today but when we arrived it was tipping it down with rain, we quickly called around trying to find a pub that would take us then and there as a family with a dog. By pure luck we found The Victory and we were not disappointed! Genuinely could not fault anything, staff couldn’t be more friendly, food was exceptional and the pub had a lovely atmosphere, would definitely recommend

Went to The Victory for my birthday dinner.My family and friends had been here before and recommended the Tapas menu.... Well...I can only say the choice and quality of food on offer was outstanding.. Brilliantly seasoned..tasty and a fabluous presentation.. All this together with very friendly service.. The dessert I had. .. sticky toffee pudding and toffee ice cream was one of the nicest desserts I ever had.. One of those dinners that will stay in the memory always .. Can't wait to go back and try more things.

Wow , can’t fault this little gem of a pub. Booked for 6, we all had the Sirloin Roast which was delicious, cooked to perfection. Desserts were all handmade , The lemon and lime cheesecake was truly Scrumptious ❤️We were looked after by Emma whom made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble . Thank you so much .... definitely recommend and will return if we are every in Walton on the Naze !! 10/10

Could not fault the welcome, the service, or the food. Can especially recommend the Tapas which was superb. We did book, given the predictable demand for the first Friday post Covid re-opening, and are glad we did as it was busy but the staff coped well and the food arrived quickly and they always had an eye on our glasses for refills. Will definitely be back.

Went in at 7.00 pm sat down, staff saw us. 07.05 pm bar staff passed and said sorry will be right with you.07.15 pm bar staff come to table and say this table is reserved, all tables are reserved, we have no tables.Leave. Never to return, plenty of pubs in Walton.

3rd meal and it gets better every time. We had booked before the announcement and so glad we did. We opted for a mixture of tapas bits and every single one of them was incredible. Mussels, chicken, ribs, Brie and spring roll. All absolutely spot on! My only comment would be the lack of staff in masks! There was one lady wearing one and the chef popping out wearing it round his chin and two staff without one all together. Was a bit of a shame especially after the tier 4 announcement but didn’t take away from the amazing food.

We were visiting my 93-year-old mother-in-law on Christmas Day. She has a favourite destination, but it was closed due to the Government's panic. I found that the Victory was providing meals that day, and they agreed to provide us with a take-away service. The meal was quite the most delicious pub meal we have ever eaten. It was good quality, and cooked to perfection. When the Goverment's panic is finally over (if ever), we will be returning.

Just had a late Sunday Lunch at The Victory. My goodness what a roast it was!! Absolutely beautiful snd SO much of it !! However it paled in comparison to Emma and Evie who from the moment we arrived could not do enough for us. Well done girls (and chef) you made us so welcome and the perfect ending to a fabulous few days in Walton. Xx

This pub is great every season. In winter the log fire is welcoming, I. Summer it's perfect for a refreshing drink.The chef is seriously good if you want to eat some good food too. In summer you might want to book a table on the weekend though.

Me and my wife had dinner there last Friday night,we went for the Tapas menu,Whitebait,Boullabaise,Ribs and Chilli King Prawns all were delicious,the service was good the Beer was good and all at a reasonable price,we will definitely be back!

We really love having this local pub within walking distance from home.Emma and Mark are great hosts!We have been twice this week, with today’s roast hitting the spot. Always washed down with a pint of Abbots.All Covid19 precautions taken, and even though we are going out less, we want to support one of our great local venues.Keep up the great job guys!!!Steve & Su x

Had a lovely evening meal last week, we ordered several tapas dishes and they were superb, nice staff also and priced reasonably.

Popped in when on holiday really old pub staff were very friendly, helpful and the Covid stuff was well done. The food was incredible the proprietor is the chef but the food was fresh and of a very high standard. A lovely setting. really pleased we found it

Old world pub, great theme with Nelson, lots of historical information on the walls.Food very good at a reasonable price, 2 alcoholic drinks and 2 mains just over £30. I had catch of the day brilliant. Staff very friendly and a pleasure to have a chat with.Hope this was helpful.

Me, my husband and our daughter had lunch here today. Very friendly staff, who went out their way with our little girl making us feel very welcome. The fish and chips is probably the best we've had, our little girl had the chicken coujans and they bought out some veg for her too. Will definitely visit there again when we're in Walton.

Three of us in for lunch this afternoon. It’s a charming pub just off the Main Street in Walton and only a three minute walk from the public car park near the seafront.Interesting and attractive murals inside and in the small courtyard. Also a range of prints and repro paintings with a Nelsonian naval theme.As others have said, the menu features few what you might call traditional mains, but the tapas on offer more than compensates for that. There’s much to choose from, and in our opinion we could have been eating tapas in Spain as the quality was excellent.Lamb kebabs/mini-burgers were outstanding, as was the whitebait , mussels gratin and the prawns in a piquant sauce. Squid with chorizo was a bit lacking in chorizo but very tasty anyway.Of the few more traditional mains on the menu, one of us had the beer-battered cod and chips and said it was delicious.Service was prompt and courteous. Very good cookery here in a part of the Tendring peninsula that’s not as well-frequented by visitors as Frinton and Clacton. Bit of a hidden gem is Walton, with its history and architecture.The Victory is well worth a visit!t

We have just had a lovely lunch at the victory. The tapas was lovely particularly the crab and coriander spring rolls, and the harissa lamb kebabs. The main menu is quite limited, but everyone loved what they had. Decent ales and larger, and great service. Would definitely go back.

we went for a roast dinner and my 6 month old was a little too small for the high chair, the staff got a pillow for us and she sat happy for a little. When the amazing lamb dinner came up my baby started getting unsettled and so I held her while my husband ate, then my turn. I still started to eat my dinner which is the best roast dinner I have eaten and to my surprise the staff brough out new hot gravey and said the chef had sent it out to me as he saw me waiting and didnt want my dinner to be cold. Honestly the service couldn't be any better and the food for the price is amazing. Highly recommended anyone to go here. I feel like they went above and beyond.

There is a shortage of decent pubs in this small town, but this is an absolute gem. A really friendly welcome and scrupulously clean throughout, we were completely relaxed. The menu is quite simple, some pub staples and a page of ‘English style’ tapas. The real winner was the cod and chips, absolutely delicious; fish delivered daily from Ipswich fish quay we were told, and I can well believe it. The burger was equally delicious, and my wife tried the ribs and wings from the tapas menu, and was equally impressed. There must be a chef with skill behind the scenes as each dish was exquisitely cooked. Like I say, we booked again.Fully recommended, but gets busy so might need to book.

Met my Sister for lunch and a catch-up. We ate off the tapas menu. Food absolutely gorgeous. Service outstanding. Teeny tiny moan,wine could have been a little colder but, to be fair, it was a really hot day. Also very helpful in finding me someone to talk to about a local trip. Above and beyond.

Food was so good we’ve eaten here two nights in a row. First night cod and chips, nicely cooked with home-made pee purée, following night we had tapas, ribs, green lipped muscles in garlic etc, all very well presented. Staff were welcoming and efficient, felt very comfortable eating here, all COVID measures adhered to.

The new tapas menu is a definite hit. We tried several dishes from the tapas. Absolutely gorgeous. Every dish was 10 out of 10 and better.We'll be back asap to try other dishes and the rhubarb crumble mmmmmmmh.Thank you to all the staff in these difficult times. They still managed to make us feel very welcome at the same time observing all the new rules to keep everybody safe. Cant be easy. But we loved it.

A great place to go for a meal If you have a dog with you. We had walked from Frinton and it was an ideal pub for lunch. It is friendly and welcoming. The menu is varied and the food good value.

We’ve eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. Lovely old pub but with decorated with a modern and stylish twist, lovely friendly welcome and service. The food is fabulous, we are always so impressed with such quality at a good price. Creative and tasty menu. Well done guys, fab job.

Have used The Victory in severalOccasions over the years when visiting Walton on the Naze but more recently as friends have moved to the town .Had a terrific meal on Saturday night with friends .The menu had something for everyone and most of us were torn between 2 or 3 options which means they’re getting it right .The Lamb shank shepherds pie ‘ was delicious and the asparagus and tender leaf broccoli cooked to perfection .They were very busy so ensure you book .Service and atmosphere very good .Look forward to our next visit !

Visiting Walton for two nights and this pub was recommended to us. The food was delicious. Traditional old pub with lovely staff and great warm atmosphere.

What a great pub..a perfect balance of comfortable surroundings, welcoming staff (and customers) and absolutely delicious food. A really interesting menu , something for everyone and cooked perfectly by a very good chef. We wish we had something similar near where we live as we would never be out of it. It’s also doggy friendly in the bar areas. Just great

Went in last Wednesday with a friend and had the nicest sirloin steak I've had in a very long time. The staff are, as always, excellent.

My husband and i visited whilst visiting from Surrey. Lovely lay out and right by the beach for some sea air. Sam behind the bar was very welcoming.

Really good food, friendly and welcoming staff and a lovely combination of both child and dog friendly. Everyone was well looked after and catered for!

We had a wonderful Sunday Dinner yesterday. I had the fish and chips and it was absolutely amazing. Big portion of fish and great mushy peas.

Thanks so much for making my partners 74th birthday so special and organising the fantastic cake. Food is absolutely amazing. Proper fine dining without the miniature portions which normally are associated with this class of cuisine. Thanks chef, team and the lovely attentive Kerry. The only miniature downside was a very surly chap who I believe was called Kevin who was pretty unhelpful when I asked him to help me to login to the wifi. I was told to read the sign as his head was full of drinks orders. 5 minutes later he was slouching at the bar. Needs a good taste of manners and customer service, considering the lengths that the rest of the team go to make this such a fabulous place and that the clientele are over 40, he needs to be a bit more aware of customer service. Sorry Kevin but you were a bit rude. Well done the rest. Thoroughly recommend it for a posh nosh x

After arriving in walton on naze we were a bit worried when all we saw was greasy spoon cafes or fish and chip shops (I love fish and chips but didnt fancy it).

We popped in here for a drink while we were waiting for the fish and chip shop queue to lessen but ended up ordering our lunch.

So welcoming! Great hidden gem. Sat at the bar - immediately felt at home & the best fish and chips, with minted mushy peas- it’s restaurant standard in a pub ! The gin bar- YESSSSS Returning ASAP ! You guys are fantastic. !!

Needn’t say more than the chef in this pub has a talent. I just hope selfishly that he stays here. The man can cook superbly seasoned and beautifully presented food. I love this place.

Very helpful friendly staff that seated us a family of 5 even though they said they were going to be fully booked. Omg the food was 5 * quality and happily adapted the menu to our needs. Only fault was being charged £15 for a £5 bottle of wine . Definitely recommend the food.

My partner and I came across this pub whilst having a wander through the backstreets...oh and what a find it was, the food was tasty, delicious, well presented and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back sometime soon!

We ate here this evening for my sister’s birthday. We were very impressed with the menu. The food was first class. Absolutely the best fish and chips I have ever eaten in a pub. Everything was piping hot. Lovely fluffy inside and crispy outside chips and moist fish with amazing crispy batter. Delicious desserts too. The staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

Excellent burgers at this surprise find in the back streets of Walton-on-the-Naze. Nice back yard to sit in including the dog. Very friendly staff and very accommodating. All food was hot and well presented but the burgers surpassed themselves with flavour texture and superb cooking. Very good value for money. Could not have finished such a nice day in a better place.

Used to use the Victory a lot when we moved here 9 years ago but hadn’t been for quite a while. Having seen the recent glowing reviews, thought we’d give it another try. We were not disappointed! Beautiful food, excellently presented & great service. Think we will be back very soon.

Friendly waitress found us the only table left (busy on Friday night). One vegetarian option but good (risotto but not too stodgy); table service for drinks.

Lovely friendly staff, food was delicious. Monk fish dish was a very healthy option. Fish and chips were very good. The burger was the best I have ever had, one downside my chips were salted for me, not happy with that. The pie was also very good. Puddings great, sticky toffee pudding and crumble spot on.

Visited with friends..and as always had a first class meal..although it is a pub..the food is better standard than most Restaurants..friendly staff..FANTASTIC VALUE FOR MONEY..strongly RECOMMENDED.

This was one of many visits to "The Vic" for my wife and I and, as usual didn't disappoint. A welcoming smile from the bar staff, followed by being served promptly with a pre-dinner drink. Then shown to our table and given the menu - a lovely choice to suit most tastes. I ordered the duck (with Three bean sauce) and my wife the monk fish. Both meals arrived within good time, hot and presented superbly. But most importantly, tasted Devine. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Over the years, The Victory has changed hands a few times, but I think the management now, are the best it's ever had. Well done Chef!

We came across The Victory on bank holiday Monday quite by accident. We have been to Walton many times but usually end up in the pie and mash shop. My daughter point blank refused so we fortunately wandered into the Victory. Managed to grab the last available table as we hadn't booked!!!!! So glad we did. Food was just lovely. I had smoked haddock fish cakes, other half had lamb burger which I had a bite of and it was cooked to perfection and my daughter had chicken and choritzo linguine. All very very good.

Wife & I popped in for a quick beer but the food looked lovely. So we decided to stay & eat. The food was fantastic, flavours of our food was super. Lovely ales to choose from.

Called in on the off chance for lunch and were very pleased we did. Lovely hot freshly cooked food. Fish & chips and the monk fish/scallops/prawns/mussels which was excellent. Reasonably priced for what we chose. Good range of drinks/beers. Will definitely call in again on our next visit to Walton.

We booked into the Victory for a family meal on April 13th. The food was fantastic with the chocolate fondant being the star of the show! Compliments to a very accomplished chef ! We'll be back.... 'Thank you'

Very nice Fish and Chips for lunch, the fish was quite big. The person I was with gave the butternut squash risotto a 7/10 and went away wanting more. Negative reviews on this place may say that the staff were rude to them however not in my experience going there they were very nice to us when we went.

A terrific landlord from the wonderful Muswell Hill hosts this Greene King Pub. The best pub by far in Walton Town it boasts a very popular menu and a fun quiz night on a Sunday which welcomes visitors. Cheers

We had a very warm welcome into the pub and shown to a nice quiet table with our parents and our small dog . Lovely ambience, warm friendly and also professional.

Have been visiting the victory when coming to walton for over 10 years. Was always welcomed when Russell and his family were there but no more. I was told I couldn't use a voucher in a very rude way only for a regular to comment to the bar lady it's that time of year again !! Meaning tourists!! They are lucky they have people visit to keep this pub going!! Ordered 2 pints of Abbott and was FLAT. Will not bother again.leave it to the locals and see how long it lasts.!! Go to The Bath House where staff cannot do enough for you and food delicious.

I was looking for somewhere to go for a lunchtime meal with my parents and decided to try this place after reading some good reviews and I was not disappointed. The food was really nice, reasonably priced and the service was excellent. The beer on tap was terrific too and there was a lovely log fire in the main bar area. All the staff were really nice, the toilets were spotlessly clean and there is a delightful courtyard which must be a real sun trap in summer. All in all, I cannot recommend this place highly enough and I will certainly return. The only slight negative is that it is not on the seafront but a street back and a little hard to find.

I went here with friends and too happy dogs and enjoyed what can only be described as a fantastic meal. Proper home cooking just like you would dream off in a pub that’s got a calm and friendly atmosphere. The waitress staff are attentive and friendly and the food will make me come back. It took me an hour and a half to drive from Leigh on Sea but it was worth it. Will I come back yes at a moments notice on a Sunday with the dogs. Couldn’t have been better.

Has to be by far one of the best pubs in Essex..the food ..the service..the value for money are all excellent..food is better than most restaurants..RECOMMENDED

Visited for lunch after a beach walk with my wife and baby boy. The pub was very welcoming and helped accommodate us with our baby. There was a good menu choice and we went for the Angus burgers and they were superb - very good quality ingredients and very tasty. The french fries were excellent too. The serving staff and the chef were very attentive and ensured we had a great lunch. I'd highly recommend a visit if in the Walton-on-the-Naze area on a day out.

Tried this place as had heard they were dog friendly. Lovely Greene King pub. We received a warm & friendly welcome. It was a cold day but they had a lovely open fire in one bar and the dining area was toasty warm.

Only been here a few times for a quick drink despite only living 5 minutes away. Never fancied eating here but friends invited us so gave it a go. Couldn’t believe such an amazing menu could be on my doorstep. The chef is not only imaginative but can cook - best meal for ages at half the price of nearby restaurants. Service fabulous and a very friendly host just a wonderful evening. Intend to try the Sunday lunch soon a little gem and only a minute from a glorious sea front.

Victory is by far the best pub in Walton now. Owners have done an amazing job turning a horrible unfriendly pub into an of the beaten track gem. Well done to them and I highly recommend a visit, especially if you are a local that has avoided it due to its old reputation as I had done. Food is good to and a little warm uncover smoking area out the back if that’s important to you.

Very tasty well presented lunch. A very good chef. Starters a little pricey but mains great value. Especially enjoyed the double cooked fries.
