Amazing Chicken Tikka and Lamb Biryani. This is the best indian food I've had in a long time and I've been to a few restaurants in London. It's worth the trip!

Simply 5*. We have lived in buntingford for years now and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Great food & great service

We always have such a lovely meal and experience when we visit the viceroy. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The food always tasty. This is our treat to ourselves.

At first glance, we thought the bill a bit pricey for a takeaway meal for 6, but upon investigating when we returned to our home, we realised that some of the portions are much bigger than we'd traditionally get at our local Indian restaurant. Friendly owner and accommodating service. Food was very good indeed and universally got the thumbs up from our group. We'll be back. 👍😁

Food here is always nice and service is in good time. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and the staff are polite, friendly and helpful. I always get my ruby firm here and have done for many years. The restaurant is always clean and in good condition, certainly great for dining in or a take away. Will always recommend the viceroy restaurant. Unfortunate parking is difficult outside however there is a carpark very near by.

Very nice food. Busy restaurant (it was Saturday night so expected) and the staff coped well. They were very friendly too.

I went for dinner last night with my daughter. We are new in the area and a friend recommended them. They booked us in promptly and treated well at arrival. We order some popadoms, the dips were nice, rushed to place our order so we did. Then another of the waiters came and said your food is ready when you are, we were there for like 10 minutes. They took our dios and rest of the popadoms and brought our “dinner”. It wasn’t our order, they served us someone else’s. He quickly took it away and we waited for our dinner to arrive. Never offered to give us our dios etc back since we are paying for them. We thought oh well, everyone makes mistakes, full moon etc etc. Our meals finally arrived and I order the prawns Shashlik, and it was over cooked, you could see the burned vegetables but I thought it was just bbq so maybe was just superficial. It tasted like when you burned your food so bad that it got stock to your pan and everything taste like burned. Apart of my prawns being over cooked, chewy and dry. Everything else was fairly good and their naan bread is very nice. It was many waiters looking to our table, it was getting pretty full the restaurant. Another waiter came and asked if we have finished. My daughter asked to take away our left overs and I said that I did t liked my meal that it was burned and overcook. He left, came back to take the dishes to pack away and he once again pointed to my burned meal and ask not this one? It burned I said I don’t like it. Ok he said and he left. Another waiter came very quickly with the desserts menu. I ordered some ice cream. Never mentioned of my burned dish. We asked for the bill. It was a total of £60.20, I paid cash with £70 so we were waiting for the change. I normally will leave £5 to £10 tip depending on the service and food but they were rushing us around and the food was awful. After another 5 minutes pases by, the waiter came back and asked anything else? Like are you leaving or what attitude. I said, I’m waiting for change thank you. He came back give me £10 and left nothing said. I have never felt so insulted in my life. I left the £0.20 they did t charged me and £2 tip as I felt uncomfortable by not leaving anything. One of the worst services we had in a long time. The prawns dish was almost £15, it wasn’t even edible, they rushed us through dishes like it was no tomorrow, almost saw us to the door and expected a £10 tip on top of it. They need a reality check and if many writers will serve your table, then communication in between. We won’t be going back there any time soon!!! I won’t recommend this place at all

Without a doubt its consistently the best curry we've had and we eat a lot of curry! Recently tried another curry place and it wasn't even close, made us realise how lucky we are to have The Viceroy, which prompted me to write this. Keep doing what you're doing, everything we order is exceptional, always delivered hot, with a smile from the whoever delivers, we won't be trying anywhere else again!! Thank you!

I used their delivery service tonight and they made a small error with my order. I was disappointed but the service they gave to rectify the issue was 10/10 so I will continue to use this business. Thank you Mo for sorting everything! Ben

£41 for 2 currys; rice and naan breads. Driver got lost delivering to an address in buntingford. Food was cold when delivered. Will never use this service again

Saturday 2 nd April . Birthday meal 4 adults 1 teenager .arrived 7.30 . Meal arrived 8.50 . Kitchen staff were shouting louder than music. Absolutely awful from start , when we just couldn’t get served .To when coffees arrived . . when waiter decided he had given wrong coffees out . Even though started wanted to swop around . Unbelievable .only thing missing was Basil and Manuel . This should be takeaway only .

2 hours still waiting, man on the phone lied saying it was on the way. 40 mins later I call and driver had not left. I don't mind a delay in the food but do not appreciate being lied too.

Service was very slow, the food was cold. Staff seemed more interested in serving take aways. Not impressed with this place.

Food is really nice and well worth the money. Normally find we can make it last two days. Only slight disappointment is everytime I've been given a collection time l end up waiting in restaurant for 30 minutes plus.

i had a lovely meal at the Viceroy tonight with my friends. our local curry place never had a bad meal. highly recommended THE VICEROY//BUNTINGFORD//

Absolutely delicious food coupled with welcoming friendly Staff make this the best Indian around! Reasonable price, can not recommend highly enough!

Decent food but not the best we’ve had. Good portions and price, but the mango sauce was very waterly and onions/salad didn’t taste as fresh as it could have been.

Takeaway was cold, tasteless, dry crispy rice. Really bad meal! Don’t bother with this place. Manager couldn’t be bothered with complaint. Offered 30% off next meal. WHY would I buy from there again?

I use this restaurant on a regular basis, I have always found their food and service to be excellent. Staff are very friendly and polite.

This is the second time recently that the food has just been ok. I wanted to leave a review encouraging the chef just to taste it before he sends the food out. Our korma last night was distinctly lacking something and not the recipe we have known and loved over the last 20 years. Could say the same for the other curry's we had too. Just didn't taste quite as good as it used to. Just needs a small amount more attention to detail.

Where do i start 🤔 the only positive thing to say is the food was ok.The constant ringing of the telephones was extremely annoying! We were seated in the same area that accommodates collection for take away food and made for a very hectic meal out. Customers were waiting over an hour for their orders and there certainly wasn't anyone following the 2 metre rule for Covid ! The service was VERY slow and i for one could not wait to get my meal finished and get away from those blooming telephones !!!

Ordered the lamb bhuna which was actually tasty but found 3 hairs on 3 of my lamb chops! Yuck! It absolutely ruined my meal! Clearly no hair net had been worn to prepare the meal. Disappointing.

Ordered a takeaway at 5pm for 7.15pm delivery. 7.30 still not arrived. Called restaurant to be told they’ll be with me any minute. I said I had ordered early to avoid this. He apologised but it was pretty half hearted. Food is nice although, unlike other restaurants I won’t mention, they don’t send a bag of onions or anything complimentary for popodums The fact they don’t respond to any comments on here makes me think they’re not actually bothered

First time ordering a delivery, told 45 - 50 minutes. Took a hour and half. For a Friday night and at end of month when most people get paid we expected a wait. Well worth it, food was hot, authentic and delicious. Driver was polite. Thank you viceroy.

We enjoyed the starters and curries very much. Thick and flavoursome sauces. Their naans are great, but I'd have added a bit of salt to them (not so noticeable when eating along with curry though). Staff was friendly and effective.

Very busy and not handling too well

Thought we'd book a 7pm table for a lovely date night - what a mistake! 20mins after being sat a group of 15 guys came in & were put next to us, shouting, chanting & swearing profusely and so loudly we couldn't even hear one another. We saw tables at the front free so asked if we could be moved. 20mins later we were told no as there was suddenly no space from walk-ins. The European waiter couldn't understand or answer any questions so we ended up ordering drinks twice from a different waiter that came to ask what we wanted because the other guy didn't understand. Service was slow & awful. We got our food finally at 8.30pm, 1.5hrs after arriving. We ended up asking for it to be packed as the environment was just terrible. After such a long wait we weren't even offered a discount. Simply poor management. The paneer was overcooked & rubbery, the chicken tikka was tough & chewy, and everything else mediocre. We will definitely not be returning & will get in the car & go further afield next time we want an Indian!

First time here but not the last. Friendly service, chef had been cooking here for 35 years and seems to have got the hang of it The shashlik was fab, the breads are feather light, everyone at our table was delighted with their food. Good portion size for the price, well recommended.

Visited this place tonight for the first time in years as I’m not usually in this area Fantastic food and very friendly staff Lamb madras and paneer tikka chilli side both exceptional I shall be sure to return very soon

After waiting 1hr and 15 then being asked are you ready to eat or would you like a break first. We had our food. We asked no coriander every dish had it on top. Eventually when we ate the food was nice. Won't be back I am afraid.

Not one for normaly doing this. On this occasion i can only say the food was mediocre, not very hot and under seasoned. Service was slow as I think they prioritise takeaway. When paying over £80 for 2 would expect more

Just finished a meal and very disappointed to the point I actually couldn't eat it all I have had a better stick in the microwave curry than that I'm pretty sure most of these revues are bots I would HIGHLY recommend somewhere else such as nela cash instearly we had a chicken korma and tik a masala and poppadoms and mango chutney which was more juice than bits in fact no bits at all terrible and has no effort put considering it was 30.00

Went here for a catch up meal with friends. Food took a long time to arrive even though it was a Tuesday night and the place was dead. Staff didn't really seem interested. Food was tasteless and lukewarm. It was almost certainly reheated which brings me to my next and final problem. I've now been up half the night with unbelievable stomach pains and constant trips to the toilet which can only be down to the food I consumed last night. I'll definitely not be returning.

Down in St Albans for the weekend & came across this little gem. Tucked away but well worth the search for. Food was amazing, staff very polite & courteous. Could not fault a thing. Simply lovely 😊

We came here as a party of 7 friends. I arrived a little earlier than my friends but was left on the table with no offer of a menu or a drink. The service was slow for us to order although we were so busy chatting we didn’t mind too much, I could see they were busy with takeaway orders. The food was nice and I have to say reasonably priced. Not outstanding but definitely good enough. The chicken shashlik was lovely. I don’t mind coming here with a large group when you want to chat and laugh but I think I’d be impatient with the slow and off hand service if I was here as a couple.

Go their approximately once a month or get a takeaway. Very friendly, service good, food always good and a good varied menu.

food not hot, probably the worst Indian I've ever had, well comes a close second to L'Ahore in St Albans Road. Awful service with a don't care attitude.

Previously had decent meals at this local restaurant but our most recent takeaway meal was served cold and the bag was overloaded and the containers were not done up properly causing it to spill everywhere on the 5min walk home. On complaining by phone, the staff were abrupt, rude and denied any wrongdoing. They refused to apologise much less offer a refund. As such we will not be customers here again. They did not care our Friday night family treat was ruined and their customer service was well below parr. Disappointing.

We are local villages and we have been coming here for over 20 years and not because it' is local' as we have a take away chinese which is on the same parade which is awful and go a mile up the road. So we have never had a problem with the delicious food (in or out) and when we have friends over and we visit they always say about coming next time to see us and 'can we go to the great Indian'. Yes it gets busy, surprise suprise thats because their food is good, yes sometimes it is a little slow because of front of house and take out demand, but the food served by Shah and his staff is worth the wait. Also I am well aware that some restaurants try the add on a drink trick routine but this has never happened and The Viceroy has NOT got a name for it. How many restaurants do you know these days that operate a loyalty scheme that rewards regulars with a meal and wine for just being 'regulars'. keep up the good work Shah and the team.

Visited with a group of friends on a Sat night and as others said the staff were more interested in takeaway orders than customers in the restaurant. I arrived before my friends (who were running 20mins late) and sat there without being offered anything as the waiters were pretending I was invisible. The waiter who took our order was ok and the food was passable but it was nothing special I'm afraid. All in all a disappointment as I used to come here regularly ten or so years ago. We were there for my friends birthday and they barely managed to wish her happy birthday - poor show all round. Stick to the takeway service for a mediocre curry if it's close to you but don't go out of your way.

The food is ok if you are prepared to wait over a hour or more for it. The staff can be rude at times and seem to concentrate on the takeawy side of things before people waiting at table for there meal.Been a few times now but defently won't be going back. IN MY OPINION AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
