The Venus Restaurant in Rotherham

First time visiting Venus on recommendation from friends. I shall not be going back in a hurry. Although the food was excellent as it should be considering the price, but the service was appalling especially when you’re paying on the higher end of the pricing spectrum. Not once were we asked if we wanted additional drinks or how the meals were. A gentleman on a near by table went to the bar himself for drinks as no waiting staff were to be seen.

Excellent food. Excellent service. Excellent atmosphere. So excellent all round. Very friendly. Highly recommended.

Had a buffet. Was nice but some things were sub standard. Bar service very slow.

Service was exceptional and the food was just as good. Been here a few times over the years and it never disappoints. It's a restaurant you just have to try.

An amazing family run business for must be the past 30years. We visited on Thursday evening and there is no finer restaurant for a fillet steak Rossini. Making my mouth water thinking about it 😁❤️

Amazing Valentines dinner, food is always top noch and service on point.

Characterful building. Car parking is limited. Access from the street to a path leading directly to the front door. When entering the property, this leads to a small but comfortable bar area. Unfortunately, the Guinness was off, but I had a super pint of theakstons pale ale. We also had a bottle of Malbec. Restaurant was light and airy and table ste nicely. Superb 3 course meal, plenty of choice on the menu. Unfortunately, the duck was not available. We had salmon and steak (rump and sirloin ), which were well presented and very enjoyably. The sirloin attracted a supplement. Deserts and liquor coffee were very good. The service was very good. Staff were polite and friendly. We are returning later in the month and hope for another thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Venus is the best place around! the food is outstanding as are all the staff! been going for a number of years and never had a bad meal yet 😋

Visited 07/01/24 for the first time for a family meal (Sunday lunch). Older style / traditional environment which was lovely, very helpful staff, the food was wonderful and amazing value for money. Table service, everything was hot, tasted great and served very well. I would highly recommend a visit. No complaints at all, drinks good value for money, background music not too loud. It was excellent.

We went just before Christmas ,the food once again was amazing fast becoming our favourite place to eat , only thing that would have made it better was some crackers on the table as it was so close to Christmas and that was why we were there, the staff are so friendly we were served by a young new girl she was so helpful another great night thank you

We were lucky enough to go last night for Motown Christmas evening. Wow what an evening, decor was gorgeous, Staff lovely and food was superb. The entertainment was absolutely fantastic good singer and even better at entertaining the audience. Thank you so much for a great evening we won't leave it so long next time 😊

We went last night (11th 11th 2023)for a 40th Anniversary, it was amazing from the atmosphere to the fantastic food. Thank you to each and every single staff, only one thing to say is 100% Professional in every way. 😀 👏👏

Sunday special meal, excellent food, excellent value. Silver service, staff very friendly and polite. Nice atmosphere. The only problem may be parking, it's very popular and the restaurant car park is small (about 12 spaces) so most parking is on street.

It was unusual to find this delightful Restaurant in Dinnington S25 2PL. You get the most welcoming feeling when you enter the Venus restaurant, the owners will make you feel like part of the family, They have owned the Restaurant and Bar for 23 years have made it into quite an attraction, especially for Sunday lunch and festive occasions.You will find they have applied meticulous care and attention to detail to the decor giving the place that original 18th century feel.

We had a family night out to celebrate my birthday. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Excellent once again. Being coming here for many years and always great food, friendly and helpful staff, good atmosphere, and quality. We came with friends that had gluten allergy and the chef offered most items on the menu gluten free, so massive choice and first class dishes. Highly recommended.

Beautifully cooked food, super portions, can't fault it! If you like steak, it's a treat, and the lamb is excellent as well.

Venus is an old fashioned formal atmosphered resturant, the food choices are dated back to the 90's prawn cocktail, melon, mushrooms etc as starters & then standard sunday lunch options beef, chicken and lamb. Most of the customers were elderley not that its a bad thing but there was no atmosphere so quiet & formal, tabled were dressed in white tableclothes, meals came out in a reasonable amount of time given it was quite busy and the odd thing was that some of the food was on the plate when served but then staff served the rest silver service , which seems to formal for a resturant in that location , this type of service usually is £100 & up per head resturants. The food was mediocre nothing to write home about but was ok given the cost. Overall staff seemed family run and very friendly.

Been dining here for 20 years plus. Costas, his parents and the rest of the team never fail to impress with their service and the quality of the food is second to none. I recently had a 50th Wedding Anniversary here for my parents for our family which was 45 covers and they did an amazing job, The food was fantastic and the service was excellent! Beautiful food well cooked and served. Well worth the price we paid for it. I had duck and could only manage the leg, which was very tasty and tender. The duck breast was boxed up for me to take home. We try to go twice a year so will be back.

The food and the service is exceptional. Quite traditional and reminds me of how it should be done. Went to the Motown evening last night and really enjoyed seeing the staff letting their hair down. Wonderful evening!

Not the first time I've visited this restaurant, and it certainly won't be the last. Wide ranging menu, cooked and presented extremely well. Staff very attentive. Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed.

Wow. I was left utterly speachless. You definetly get more than you pay for. After receiving your main dish the servers come round with veg (carrots, peas, cauliflower cheese e.t.c). you can have as much as you want. The steaks are cooked perfectly. The staff are absolutely fantastic and polite

Super restaurant, super decoration, the quality of the meat is there.

Had a wonderful night out for an early Valentines, went for the set menu as it was great value. I had the garlic mushrooms to start followed by the rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection. Lovely staff who were very helpful without being intrusive.

The food was delicious but a bit dry and service was decently quick. The restaurant was understaffed when I went so likely would be better if it was fully staffed. The atmosphere was excellent and the building was historical so it was fabulous inside with a cosy atmosphere and very festive. The toilets are clean but small however a bit difficult to access if you are older. The starters are outstanding and the mains fell somewhat short. The drinks were good and with a great range.

Ate here for the first time and it was absolutely brilliant. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Service was spot on (friendly but not fussy) and there was simply no rush all night. Food was excellent and portions and pricing were superb. Really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend and will return.

14 of us went to the Venus on 22nd Oct 22 for my wifes 60th. Had a fantastic evening of superb food excellent service and lovely surroundings.Our only downside it is a long way from our home in Adelaide.Would highly recommend this venue thankyou so much.

Love this restaurant staff are fabulous, food exquisite. The experience is always the same because this is a restaurant that know what it is doing both with food and the way they look after people. The duck was fabulous.

Found bone in the Mediterranean cod put me couldn't eat it. Soup excellent dessert good.

Our first time here, which was to celebrate our anniversary and it was wonderful. The service was fantastic and the food was incredible. We will certainly be visiting again!
