Just had to express my thanks and pleasure to the owner and staff of this gem.of a cafe on my visit to Ilkley yesterday.An appauling day of weather and not having made a booking with my husband and 12 month old grandaughter we arrived soaking wet and the staff couldn't have done more to help us and make us welcome.My grandaughter being intolerant of several foods they went to so much trouble to help and were happy for me to feed her her own food I had taken.We had the most delicious mushroom, courgette and potato soup with the best ever carrot cake afterwards. I value their food ethics and although not vegetarian I eat a lot of homemade vegetarian meals and would certainly recommend this cafe and will definitely visit when next in Ilkley.

Oh wow!! Just happened upon this little gem and been Veggie it was a real find!! Lots of Vegan dishes or they will alter a dish to accommodate ! The liquorice cake is to die for! So much so I went back tbe day after to take two more pieces home! Service great and price very reasonable

What a fantastic find!!! Cafe's like this prove vegetarian and vegan food can be delicious and so much more than just a cheese omlette (for vegetarians!) The staff were so friendly. We were only in Ilkey for the day but if we lived locally we'd be there all the time as there were so many amazing sounding dishes on the menu! Thank you for such a lovely lunch.

Planned our trip to Ilkley around going to this restaurant. Arrived and they explained that there was only one dog friendly table. a) this isn't really logical b) they could have said it in a much friendlier way - they weren't at all welcoming c) why is the dog area up big steps? A lot of small or injured dogs wouldn't manage it. Didn't get to try the food just got turned away.

We love the Veggie Cafe! We are not veggie but found their food so delicious that we didn’t even notice. Loads of options for milk free diets. Baby friendly, just a shame about no dogs. (Apart from one table). Lovely staff. Great coffee! We return when we can!

Busy, but attentive and prompt service. We had panini's which were excellent and came with dip and a tasty, dressed salad. Will certainly visit again next time we're in Ilkley!

We popped in for lunch after a walk and had a very nice lunch. We're not vegetarian but the menu has a great choice, and the service was quick and friendly!

Driven past this place lots of times and kept wanting to try it but parking in Ilkley is never easy. No problems getting a table Friday first thing - there were plenty of tables spare inside & out. Decor is fine, and service staff were polite and friendly. First bizarre thing is that it opens at 11:00 but the breakfast menu finishes at 11:30 - so if you want an item off the breakfast menu you have a very small window to order it. Anyway I got the Veggie breakfast and it was pretty good; the veggie sausages were overcooked and only 1 egg but everything else was fine and the veggie black pudding was one of the tastiest I've had. The latte was small as was the fresh orange. Based on the reviews my wife chose the Portobello mushroom burger but was not impressed. The 2 fruit smoothie was nice and the extra wide straw is a great solution. I'd prefer to give it 3.5 stars out of 5 because it was above average but not 4 for "very good" compared to numerous other veggie breakfasts I have eaten throughout the UK. Would we eat here again - no, sorry, tried it once and it didn't give me the wow factor to try it again, pity because the reviews really suggest this is a great place. I think extending the breakfast slot to greater than 30 mins, better veggie sausages and allowing extra items to be added would help; but if you've not eaten here before its worth a try.

So glad we came here for lunch and didn’t stop at the local franchised places! Great food, good quality fresh delicious options. Presented fantastically and good portion sizes. I had a salad with goats cheese & it was so full of different sliced veggies - not a boring lettuce/tomato salad with a bit of cheese! Partner has the mushroom & Stilton panini… it was so tasty! Shared some cauliflower chickpea fritters which were light and crispy. Served with some fresh houmus and sweet chilli dip. Good range of cakes and drinks on offer too. Defo recommend giving this place a try - and not even just for pure vegetarians. You won’t be disappointed or miss meat. Very filling & yummy. Thank you.

Had lunch at 1pm …. It was busy when we arrived, but we’re soon seated. Great choices available for veggies, vegans & gluten-free. Halloumi salad for me, served with hummus & pitta bread. Couldn’t manage a cake - but they look very appealing. Delightful staff …. & not a dog in sight. Loved it

Despite promoting itself as dog-friendly this establishment only allows dogs at one table - and as that table was occupied my party of three adults and two dogs was turned away. The cafe was empty apart from the aforementioned couple - with at least three staff standing around. The young woman who turned us away gave a vague apology but was unable to either compromise or explain logic of only allowing one party with dogs in at a time! Neither did she of her colleagues appear the least bit concerned. I thought the catering industry was in its knees and desperate to find / keep business - this establishment missed out on £50+ which from appearances it could benefit from. Very disappointing and reflects very poorly on Ilkley visitor experience. One of my group is an Ilkley resident (without a dog) and won’t try to eat there again….

Stumbled upon this beautiful treasure. Lovely staff. Food choice was very varied. Excellent food quality produce! We sat outside and the staff attended our every need. Good value. Prices were very amazing especially for the excellent quality. Will certainly recommend.

Come here often with my partner and my friends..also my dog🐕. Met my friend here today and she was already seated..usual lovely owner and waitress welcome. Food was very good as always..one of dips bit underfilled but asked for more..not sure if we had to pay 🤦‍♀️...didn't feel as comfortable today..we were seated near an alcove and repeatedly I was asked to move so staff and guests could get in and out..felt bit upset like I had sat in the way..we even moved table and chair not to be so in the way...would suggest the tables be slightly re arranged as really felt uncomfortable like I had done something wrong..it is the only one table I can see that is blocking the alcove table 🤷‍♀️ another waitress not seen b4 took over maybe felt my unease and was a bit off. Would highly recommend venue food good welcome usually good but today did feel bit in the way

We have been to Ilkley a number of times but never really gone down Leeds road. Today we did and came a cross The Veggie restaurant. The menu was good and had lots of choice and the special board had a choice on. I order...

Fantastic 3 course dinner! Food was exceptional, service great and such good value. Couldn't recommend it more. Good selection for both vegetarian and vegan. The puddings were AMAZING! None of this £7 or £8 for some tiny slice of factory made cheesecake, these are flavoursome...

Good, honest, tasty vegetarian food. Not much more to say! Staff are lovely. We go whenever we are in Yorkshire. It’s consistently good and great value for money. Worth a visit.

Every time we visit Ilkley we go to this cafe. It’s AMAZING. The staff are so kind, and they always have plenty of vegan food. And you can take dogs in too! And they can veganise pretty much any dish!!

Popped it on way home from walking to the 12 apostles on Burly Moor. Great service despite our dog spilling water all over the place! Food hit the spot and was really well presented with no corners cut considering it was probably the last meal...

Food is lovely no one can’t state not, but the young girls who work there always seem run off their feet and I notice from weekly visits how they never get a break from their work and I have heard some rude comments made by...

Coming to ilkley for ages and each place always closed - mainly because it’s been a Sunday. This time due to being Saturday was able to pay a visit and we’ll worth it. Good menu choice, food arrived in good time and presented good, tasting...

Always had absolutely delicious food when i've been here and service is always great. It is always very busy so i always book when choosing to eat there on Fridays and weekends. The menu is huge and the Mushroom burger is the best!

I visited with my friend and my niece. It was very busy and we hadn’t booked in advance but the lady who met us as we entered offered for us to share a large table with two other ladies, which was very kind of her. The coffee was absolutely excellent, as was my stuffed toasted pitta which came with a tasty dressed salad, a little pot of hummus and a tomato relish. My niece had a panini and a delicious 3 fruit berry smoothie. We ate the lot, and will definitely return when next in Ilkley.

So many times I’ve driven through Ilkley and wondered what this place was like. All I would say is stop and try it out as it’s amazing! The staff were super nice and couldn’t do enough. The food was absolutely delicious, so much effort with every single dish which was all really tasty. I was totally stuffed so no space for dessert but I’d love to come back soon as I was so impressed! I didn’t book but I saw lots of people being turned away on the day so I would recommend doing this.

What a great first experience of The Veggie's food! Had a delicious salad bowl meal, but could have chosen so many things from the menu. Definitely somewhere to revisit, to sample different dishes on each visit.

Always make sure you book by ringing before coming here- the food is so lovely that it gets very busy very quickly!

What a friendly warm atmosphere, and the food is absolutely faultless, I ordered the special salad, what a fabulous range of salad and beautifully presented. I was going to order a side but thought no be good, so glad I didn't, it was more than enough. I rarely find fantastic choice like this, and the choice of vegan options were amazing. I will be back here the atmosphere is buzzing with friendly and helpful staff. I was lucky to get a table I will book a table next time I would be gutted if I couldn't get a table when I next visit.

Me & my other half travelled from Leeds on the train on a very wet windy day to seek out The Veggie after so many of our friends had raved about it.

Had some pescetarian friends over, so tried The Veggie Cafe for brunch on Saturday. We obviously beat the crowds, as it was nearly empty at 10am! We all chose the veggie breakfast and were very impressed with the eggs and the veggie black pudding. It hasn't convinced me to ditch the bacon and sausages but it's definitely worth a return visit. As a bonus, I got a slice of gluten-free carrot cake to go and it was the best gluten-free cake I've ever eaten!

Lovely relaxed atmosphere, superb food and friendly staff. What more could you ask for? I will definitely be going again and won't hesitate to recommend to my friends.

Our first attempt to eat here saw us turned away as they were fully booked - even at mid-day! Two pre-booked visits later, the food is consistently excellent, tasty, varied and inventive; from snacks, to main courses and the cakes. A relaxed yet stylish cafe, with very friendly helpful service.

I go to the veggie on a Tuesday for a take away soup or to sit in for a quick lunch depending on time. I’m always greeted with a smile from the friendly stuff. There is always a choice of two homemade soups on offer and which ever one I choose it’s always very yummy! I’ve had a few other things off the menu when I’ve sat in and I’d recommend the hummus with pitta or the half soup half mezze platter. The cakes are always a treat and the chocolate and Guinness bring my favourite, it goes very well with a latte.

My friend and I had a delicious lunch here whilst visiting Ilkley. I myself am not veggie and would recommend to anyone regardless of if they are vegetarian or not. Annoyingly I left my scarf in the restaurant and as I live in Bristol I was worried I would not get it back. Julie was so kind and posted it to me wrapped in beautiful tissue paper - I can't thank her enough! Overall, a lovely experience, would recommend to anyone!

I love this place. The food is reliably excellent and tea comes in a big pot. From salad to cake I have never been disappointed. I would recommend anyone to visit regardless of whether or not they follow a vegetarian diet.

I had the bean burger and my partner the halloumi panini which were both really good, and staff were very nice!

We had one of the best meals we've ever had since we moved here in this restaurant, imaginative food beautifully presented and very friendly service, but on this return visit we just popped in for a reviving cuppa after walking round the town.

When ever I am in this area this is the place I head to for food. The food is delicious and varied so you may take a while to choose from whats available. Staff are friendly helpful and nothing is to much trouble for them. I recommend to anyone veggie or not to try this little gem of a restaurant.

Veggie is the beste restaurant in Ilkley by far. There is no argue with that. As a vegetarian or vegan or even meat eater there's no way you can't find something delicious to eat in there. The food is lovely presented and the staff is very welcoming.

This is a café not to be missed if you visit Ilkley. The food is well presented, the dishes are plentiful and delicious and the staff are delightful and really helpful. I had a bean burger with salad, potato wedges and hummus. I was bowled over.The cakes looked yummy, but sadly I had no room left for a piece!

Called into Ilkley on way from Harrogate back to Lancaster with a plan to walk our dogs and eat at the Veggie. We were very pleased to find they are dog friendly and had plenty of vegan choices on the menu. The food came quickly and was delicious. The staff are very friendly and lovely to the dogs. Will definitely go back again.

We've walked past this cafe a few times and it's always been closed, so we were happy to find it open this time. The staff are friendly, some great things on the menu, and daily specials. We chose a goats cheese and beetroot pizza and a portobello mushroom burger, both very tasty, but it's the little side salads and accompaniments that make the difference from other cafe's.

As a vegetarian, I love the fact that I can choose absolutely anything from the menu here. I have eaten here several times with non-vegetarian friends who have thoroughly enjoyed the food. The menu offers a range of soups, salads, sandwiches, quiches, lighter snacks (the Welsh rarebit is one of the best I’ve had) and more substantial dishes such as curries or tagines. There is also a daily specials board. You can mix and match some dishes by having two half portions of e.g. soup, a sandwich or Welsh rarebit. Breakfast is also served here. I just wish that they were open in the evening as well!

I went in for soup and a sandwich. I am not vegetarian but I love going in there. No loud music, attentive staff, quality food, and the soup is always homemade and always to die for! Lovely tasty bread. A small place but plenty of table space. Not cheap but neither is it over priced for the quality.

It was quite a cold morning and we decided to have breakfast prior to a walk on the moors rather than afterwards. My husband’s preference was a more established eatery. I convinced him we needed a more health choice of food and I’m so glad...

I hesitate to write our glowing review of this cafe, because we don't want even more people to go there! It's very popular as it is, and for good reason. The staff are friendly and efficient, the food is well thought out and generous and the character of the place is nice. It's usually buzzing and difficult to get a table, but I think they do reservations. Well done.

This was probably our 6th visit to this cosy veggie cafe and as usual the food was delicious and the staff friendly and welcoming. There is a great choice on the menu and it is good that they do combos of soup plus sandwiches etc. for people like me who can't make their minds up! We have recently discovered their home made vegan ice cream which is unbelievably good. This time we had the salted caramel which was sublime - it really was one of the best ice creams we have ever tasted. Highly recommend this café and if you do give it a try, make sure you leave some room for the ice cream! Tip - it gets quite busy at lunchtime so it's worth reserving a table.

I've been to The Veggie many times. Food is lovely and the vibe is warm and welcoming. It's a cosy café style place, rather than restaurant. It's just a shame it's not open on Sundays (or Mondays)!

Cauliflower & parsley soup tasty. Half a halloumi pannini amount ideal (soup & sandwich deal). Green tea supplied with hot water without asking. Would suggest, for my personal taste, that the coconut & lime cake have a little more coconut and a lot more piquant lime taste, and be less sweet - but the cake was beautifully moist. And as you can see the 10-month old puppy was sleeping, contained in his roomy cage, in the washroom. Delightful! I'll be back for the food, the wonderful staff, service, and the dog.

Someone recommended this restaurant to us, so whilst walking around the Ilkley area we decided to drop in and start the walk with a breakfast. The breakfast is one of the dishes that is recommended throughout TA. We got there on a Saturday just after they opened and we were made to feel very welcome. They have a really good menu with a specials board offering vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Great food customer service is good if you are in the area it's a must please to eat will come back .

The best veggie in West Yorkshire...booked a table on Saturday and my husband had a salad dish which was yummy..fresh fennel pea and feta with tarragon dressing, i had a toasted panini and it was delicious...will definitely be going back...the place was clean and the staff were happy and cant wait to go back and have one of there desserts...recommend booking as this is a busy place ...well done chef you have the perfect recipe for a great cafe

We visited this great cafe today 14/9 which was lunch for 2 & we also had with us our granddaughter in her pram. The choice of food was good,prices were very reasonable for what you got. We opted for the 1/2 & 1/2 option from the menu- Soup & Panini. The soup was delicious & piping hot & the panini was very tasty & served with a side salad. The baby changing facilities was a proper changing table with a soft changing mat. All the staff were so friendly & efficient. All in all a loverly place to eat. You don't have to be veggies to eat here - we aren't :)

Passed by this restaurant for years as I am not a vegetarian but recently went there with a friend....found out what I had been missing! The food is delicious, the staff welcoming and friendly and the prices reasonable. I am now a regular customer.

We came here after a wet walk on the moors, having found it on trip advisor. The food selection was super, the atmosphere convivial and the food itself was delicious.However, I was concerned to see one of the waitresses wipe the flood with a cloth and then serve food without then washing her hands. She did this several times and I wrote in to the management afterwards (as I did not wish to create a scene at the time as it was packed and I thought that would be unpleasant for her as I could see she was just trying to keep the floor dry and hadn't realised what she was doing), but received a fairly bland response and no further reply since then.I am sure that this was not a reflection of their overall hygiene and the food was so god that I would still go back for another meal.

Not our first visit here, all food was great as always, the soup was amazing. Would definitely recommend!

Really enjoyed lunch at this lovely little cafe, friendly, attentive staff, nice surroundings, delicious food at very reasonable prices, what more could you ask for? As vegetarians we found this a welcome treat as there were plenty of options, the cakes look lovely too but no room after portobello mushroom burgers with good fresh salad, wedges, humous and mango chutney for less than £9, just had tap water to drink but the coffees etc looked good too. We are on holiday here but will certainly go back next week

We returned with some friends this time and yet again had a splendid meal with a fantastic atmosphere, very busy place indeed full of good vibes, the staff were great and helped us decide in the end on what to choose for lunch (too much choice) some of our friends have not been to a veggie cafe, but I have to say we all enjoyed the amazing food. Great coffee, a lovely selection of cold and hot foods for any level of hunger. There are some meat dishes on the menu which confused me a bit. Being a meat eater, I wasn't put off. The prices are a touch high, but it is a bit of a novelty. The staff were very friendly, and the place was clean and tidy with some interesting wall decorations!

On a visit to Ilkley last Saturday, myself and my partner (who is vegetarian) were looking forward to visiting " The Veggie" for a bite to eat.We arrived at 2.45pm, we were not greeted or welcomed by staff, she stood there in an uncomfortable silence, and eventually addressed us in a manner that suggested we had walked into a doctors surgery asking for food !!Needless to say, we did not stay. Food can be ordered up to 3.30pm, but I can only imagine that this member of staff didn't want any new business and was on a wind down to closing time.Shame we didn't get to try the food as there are not that many cafes/ restaurants for vegetarians, we won't be back !!

The choice was amazing. It took us forever to decide what we wanted to eat! I had half soup/vegan Welsh rarebit and salad. My friend had the falafel and wedges. We shared the vegan tiffin for dessert. It was all absolutely fantastic. All the food we saw going from the kitchen looked excellent. I will definitely be back.

Tempting menu for a casual lunch or just coffee. Homemade soups, quiche etc. Lovely meze platter , generous portions a favourite choice for lunch.

What a fantastic cafe! I am not Veggie but the food here is more than satisfying and well presented, I had the special on the board today which was moussaka and what a treat, really filling and very well presented by the friendliest staff, don't pass this gem of a cafe by it was a real find today and I will be returning to try the rest of the food that passed my table for other customers, it all looked amazing! I had the tiffin and a fabulous coffee to finish. Chatted to the staff which informed me it is all home made on site... perfect. I will be back as I was made so welcome, I will book a table this time though, I only just got in before it was fully booked. Thanks guys You made our afternoon.

This is such a great little cafe! I've visited a few times and have never been disappointed. There are always tasty seasonal specials and the menu is full of exciting options. The staff are friendly too which makes the experience all the more pleasant! The Veggie is a little gem of a place.

We visited today for lunch and it was delicious. We deliberately went early so the birthday girl could have an item from the breakfast menu which stops bang on 11:30. Her eggs were delightful, the mezies were delicious, Welsh rarebit was lush and the curry was lovely. The only slight problem was we had to ask for milk and sugar but that is being picky. You need to book as it is very busy but it was a pleasure to visit.

Been here twice now, once some months ago and once again yesterday.The first time we went I ordered a pizza, I must admit, it was far from perfect. I would say it needed a good few more minutes in the oven, so unfortunately I can't recommend the pizzas based on my first and only experience... That's the bad out of the way...So yesterday we went again, and wow, it was epic!
