Lovely menu and lots of flexibility about how to have it cooked or what accompaniments to have with it. We surfed and turfed, but the breaded monkfish cheeks and the scallops were great starters and desserts nice to. All lovely and if you book a room deal you don't have to go far. The rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. We were in Rosemary at the front. Their website is a good representation of what to expect.

Very personal, intimate, fun dining with some exceptional food. Veggie options are plentiful and EXCELLENT, meat and in particular fish are also superb. Presentation is very good and the cooking is just out of this world. Very impressive indeed. Perfect balance of flavours, textures on every dish. Gazpacho, rosti and chocolate caramel tart all exceptional. Turbot was also outstanding and worth the supplement. Service was quick, fun and engaging. An excellent lunch.

05/08/2018: Went for a special dinner at the excellent restaurant this last week and had a super dinner one of the best had out for ages the ambiance was friendly right down from the chatty guy at the bar down to the great service . I tried soft shell crab first time it was delicious and followed by lamb rump which was so tender the rest of the group had sea bass and my Hubbie had a tender rib eye steak . Sylvan Oak

25/03/2018: Went here for a quiet lunch with some colleagues on the recommendation of another who lives locally in the village. It was quiet with only a very few others eating in the restaurant but the welcome was warm and the food exceptional. The menu is short but everything freshly prepared, beautifully presented and full of flavour. Everyone at the table opted for the calves liver and fried polenta for starter. Fabulous. Then there was a mixture of red deer and rose veal for mins. Again I could not fault it. For me the dessert of chocolate fondant was irresistible and did not disappoint. Overall a really good meal. I have had meals in restaurants with Michelin stars which were less convincing than the requisite fare served to us yesterday at Sylvan Oak.
09/07/2018: Went on a Friday evening for a treat. Lovely restaurant and very friendly and attentive staff. Food was very good indeed and certainly one of the best in the area. I had the pork with scallops to start, followed by the lamb. All perfect and went down well with a bottle of Italian primotivo wine.
