The Tobie Norris in South Kesteven

One of the best pubs I've been to in Lincolnshire, excellent food and drink with a good atmosphere, wish others would follow suit.

Overall was good around pub, with amazing snack starters. The rest of my partys food was very good. However this would have been a 3 star review if based on my burger!! Was dry and overcooked, lacking in sauce and the salad was under the burger making the salad unfresh!!

Came here for a Sunday Roast, which was excellent. All of our table was impressed with the presentation, portion and importantly, the meat. Clean and engaging surroundings with lots to look at and lots of charm.

Utterly beautiful pub from 1280 with 3 floors of deliteful architecture. Food was awesome and a great selection of ales. The best part is the staff, extremely friendly and efficient. When we were there my mother in law became poorly and the staff couldn't have been more thoughtful and caring. The pub is child and dog friendly as well. Highly recommended.

Fabulous food and lovely service.

1st visit was ok but the second visit during late lunch midweek wasn't as good. It wasn't too busy but the food was slow and when it came it wasn't very enjoyable. I had a crispy chicken foccacia sandwich which wasn't anything like I expected, it was in a bun like a chicken burger (which I didn't want) the bun and the chicken were both as dry as a desert and the addition of garlic mayo as stated on the menu was non existent. My friend had a goats cheese and chicken pizza wrap which she said was ok but she didn't finish it as it was too cheesy and a bit sickly. The annoying thing is I wouldn't have ordered that if the menu description had been more specific, if it says sandwich then it should be a sandwich! A burger bun isn't a sandwich. And you can't really send it back when it arrives especially if you've waited ages and have other things to do that day!

Myself, my husband and our 4 children were staying locally and happened to see this place on google. They were fully booked online bookings but when I contacted them directly they made space for us for a 6pm booking. The staff could not have been more accommodating. The service was incredible and the food just phenomenal!

Amazing place, lovely staff and fantastic food and beer. The children’s portions are as big as most adult meals. A really lovely experience, thank you for squeezing us in on a very busy Wednesday night! It was crazy busy for a week day. Most of our locals aren’t as busy on a Friday or Saturday but these guys did their best to accommodate us

The pizzas were bland, overpriced and burnt. The duck pizza had 4 pieces of bland duck jerky and the cheapest cheese money can buy.. All in all a complete waste of time and money.. As lovely as the pub is..

A lovely pub in the centre of town. A good selection of beer and nice decor and atmosphere to spend and hour or two with friends and family. Can get very busy though leading to long waits at the bar.

Such an excellent pub. A great atmosphere and is exactly how a pub should be. There's a fantastic selection of drinks and service is swift and everyone was incredibly helpful. We didn't eat, but I did read through the menu and there are a wide variety of delicious sounding things. Dog friendly too, which is brilliant. Very highly recommended.

I met friends for lunch and it was perfect for a catch up as the tables were not too close. I ordered the Italian chicken sandwich which was nice although it had too much mayonnaise and I couldn’t pick it up and had to use a fork to eat it.

Stamford was a good meeting point for a family gathering to celebrate mine and more especially my brother’s 90th birthday. We came from York, Essex and Derbyshire, and so pleased that we picked Stamford and the well situated Tobie Norris. We couldn’t find fault, staff were courteous, friendly and helpful, it was just the right ambiance for the occasion and importantly the food was very good. Would return and recommend.

Really nice atmosphere in this pub, that is obviously popular with clientele of all ages. It was a busy Thursday evening when we visited. We recommend booking a table for food, although we were able to be seated without booking. However, the choice of tables was limited. The food was served in about 40 mins, but understandable because it was a very busy evening! Food was delicious, and we all enjoyed our meals.

Food was very nice, service was fine, wait times were a little long when considering the reservation timings. Would recommend a try if you're local

Great venue, fab food and impeccable service. Did the pizza and wine deal - amazing value - pizza was much bigger than expected. Fish and chips were lovely the peas and tartar sauce exceptional. Would recommend coming here.

Great find recommended by the manager at the Crown as they were full. Menu is OK for a Sunday. We had mac and cheese with mixed meat on the side. Relatively expensive but the ambience made it worthwhile.

One of the top5 roasts I've ever had

We were there today for Sunday lunch, 11 February 2024. The quality was not as good as our last visit, quite tasteless and it felt like the ingredients were 'cheap'. When the main course arrived the beef looked like it had been standing for some time, the cauliflower cheese appeared well done and was on the dry side, oh the second portion for this arrived as we were half way through eating this rather lacklustre meal. Some of the staff need a lesson in hospitality. A young lady on the first floor didn't have a clue what to do or how to respond to customers requests, also the young lady on the till, if she smiled it would have been a miracle!! Can't see us visiting again anytime soon.

We have visited before, but on this occasion standards have slipped. Food was nowhere near as it used to be, a few cheap ingredients seem to have crept in and it shows. Service could be better, especially when we paid the bill - a smile goes a long way but the young lady on the till looked sullen and it appeared that she really didn't want to be there.

I visited the Tobie Norris for the first time on Monday 29 January 2024. What a stunning, old building it is, beautifully restored with seating on three floors. Mind the steep stairs though! Very friendly service from the young lady behind the bar on the ground floor and from the two waiters, who brought our food to the table on the second floor. Usually they offer table service, where you can order food and drinks at the table but, on the night we visited, they were short-staffed and we had to order our food and drinks at the bar. No problem for us as the place was fairly quiet and the stairs weren't an issue. We had three different pizzas and three different desserts and everything was absolutely delicious. I will definitely go back and I would definitely recommend.

This is a little gem we found by chance, had a lovely meal on a Sunday evening. The food was fantastic, very hot and cooked to perfection. The only let down and the reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that when we ordered second drinks they took so long to come that we had finished eating by the time they arrived and didn't want them. Overall lovely food but overpriced. Be prepared to pay London prices.

My friend and I had pre booked a table for a Saturday at 3 pm. We opted for olives to share and our mains were the beef dish and a vegan chickpea and vegetable curry. Both piping hot and delicious. For dessert we opted for a chocolate torte and an orange and passionfruit cheesecake. Again both were delicious. We had the table booked for a two hour slot and watched lots of people being turned away. Highly recommend you book as this venue is very popular. If you aren’t very good on your feet, it’s worth making sure you have a ground floor table as the stairs are quite steep. The venue only takes credit cards and no cash. The service was great and highly recommend this pub for good food and cosy atmosphere.

We went for Sunday lunch and had 2 shared chickens between the 4 of us. Table service was excellent and whilst the chickens take a little longer to prep, we were fully informed and kept updated. Food was awesome, great value for money and we were allowed to take the remainder home. Would definitely return to this lovely, lovely place.

Can’t fault this place. Possibly the most atmospheric pub in Stamford and that’s saying something as there are some gems in town. Great beer selection, the service is always friendly and the pizza has been really good when we’ve eaten there. Kids approved of the fish and chips! Highly recommend.

An excellent pub in this historical town. Good choice of real ales, great wines and superb food. Recommend trying the pizzas. The pub has several seating areas on different floors.

This is such an.atmospheric pub! However it's the great staff and their cheerful service that makes it more appealing than.other character filled pubs in the area.

We traveled from Norfolk to meet our friends from Derbyshire, and Picked to Tobie Norris as half way and Dog friendly (as we have a greyhound). What a fabulous choice this was, as it has great atmosphere, the staff are so friendly, and really made us all (including our dog) so very welcome. The selection of drinks was great (especially the house wine) but the food was absolutely first class. The pricing was good value and included some great offers. We all went away very happy and will be back in future. Thank you to all staff.

We went for lunch on what we knew would be a busy day. However, the moment we stepped in we realised it was busy to the point it was chaotic. Got our table we pre-booked, great. Ordering food was tricky as I suddenly became invisible at the bar. The staff were great as having a disability they helped me carry drinks up. Food arrived timely, but was a major disappointment. Dry and my Katsu calzone was tasteless, the lamb burger was good but dry. Staff however were amazing. I would def go back for a drink. A bit reluctant for food.

Nice pub, layout is quirky and fun with multiple rooms, snugs and seating arrangements. Good food and service. Good food deals. Sometimes quite busy. Would be nice to have some music in there, especially upstairs.

We booked for our office Xmas lunch. The rooms was decorated beautifully and we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff, they were attentive and cheerful. As always the food was AMAZING couldn't fault it, we will be booking again! Thanks to everyone!

Great food. Quality beers. Historic building

A busy place this, and we only called in for a couple of drinks. Friendly service with a good range of beverages available at a reasonable price. Haven't had any of the food here, so I can't comment on the quality of that I'm afraid. It was busy, busier than when we went before, which I guess is related more to the Christmas season than anything else, but if you are in the area, it's well worth a visit.

Everything we want from a good pub meal- excellent choice on menu, excellent plates of outstanding food, excellent service, all within a wonderful olde world pub atmosphere. Matt the manager is brilliant-we will be back!

Has the pizza deal which includes a bottle of wine. The pizzas were superb. Definitely the best in Town. Efficient staff. Great venue.

Pre-reserve table 301 which is a super comfortable booth on the main floor for your group up to 6 people. Note those that are less than "spry" should consider seating only on the main floor. The stairs and upper floors where built several hundred years ago. Order food and drink at the bar.

Beautiful character building, informal and nicely bustly. Service attentive and accommodating but not intrusive. Food delicious, and value for money. Thoroughly enjoyable, thank you.

Not so much a local, more of a local treasure. Always take friends that visit and those from abroad love its charm, history and quirky layout. Food is above average but it's not a place to have a gourmet dinner, just good quality food which suits the pub. Can be considered as a bit pricey but there are special deals on the pizza and it's worth the little extra.

We visited your lovely pub on Saturday and had a really lovely meal. We was booked for 5pm but arrived slightly early, the bar tender told us our table wasn’t quite ready so we brought a drink and was quite happy to wait. The pub was very busy which was actually nice to see. We was taken to our table upstairs and given menus to choose our food. We waited a little while for someone to come and take our order but no one arrived so my partner went downstairs to order where he was told it should be table service upstairs. We did think that but as no one arrived and we were starving! It wasn’t a problem coming down to order. Our food arrived and it was delicious! I love the idea of choosing your own toppings for your pizza so you can create one for your tastes. I find there is always something on a pizza I don’t like so this was perfect for me. My partner had the Indian lamb burger and being the burger expert that he thinks he is! He said it was amazing. We will definitely be coming again.

Friendly service and we were able to book a table as it was very popular on Saturday. Happy it was dog friendly too! Bit of a wait for food because it was so busy but delicious food as always.

Travelling from Northumberland to South Norfolk split the journey with a stop off in Stamford. Great Sunday lunch and more food than we could eat. Would highly recommend

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch, food was really fresh and tasty. It is a little pricey but don’t mind paying for quality. The desserts were especially delicious.

There were 9 of us for a family birthday, last Sunday. We sat on the top floor and had the whole of our area to ourselves for most of the time. The service was exceptional and everyone was really friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and plentiful. We mostly had the roast dinners - our only small moan is that they had run out of the lamb! The food was tasty and plentiful. We also had a pizza - it was huge!! Desserts were amazing as well. We will definitely return the next time we are in Stamford.

Nearly £20 for a beer and a glass of wine. I’ve heard of costs and rising prices but come on.The wine my wife had was £13 per glass, we found this same wine on line at a retail cost of £13 per bottle, These people are making a profit of 300 % on a glass of wine! I had a beer and it was nearly £7. Just around the corner for the same beer was £4.95. Nice place but stuck up bar lady who must be on a fantastic wage because when we said to her “how much” she just looked and said do you want a smaller glass! We like nice pubs with a nice atmosphere but these prices are a joke. Come on people that’s just a rip off !!!!

I have entertained friends and family at this establishment too many times to count. The food is always delightful, with a carefully selected menu that caters for all tastes. The Sunday roasts are on the generous side and offer excellent quality and value for money. The Pizzas are enormous and have a lovely crispy base. The wine list caters for all pallets and the selection of beers and lagers, which includes a range of local offerings, will delight grain lovers. The staff are customer centric, friendly and efficient, very welcoming. The Tobie Norris operates on three floors so if you have trouble with stairs request a table on the ground floor. I am happy to recommend the Tobie Norris but would suggest that a table is booked online to avoid disappointment since the TN is always busy

Such a lovely pub in Stamford, beautiful food, had one of the best sunday roasts we’ve had! can’t wait to come back already!!

I made a booking online for Sunday lunch, which was an easy process and received confirmation almost immediately. We already knew we were going to have a roast dinner and both decided on the lamb, which came with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, veg and cauliflower cheese. OMG it was absolutely delicious! The staff were all very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The only issue for me is The Tobie Norris is card payment only but other than that the experience, building, staff and food were all excellent.
