We stopped by for drinks at the Tickell Arms while visiting friends in Cambridge. A nice pub which offers dining too. There are several rooms on the ground floor where the bar is situated. They also have an outdoor seating area. We enjoyed several drinks including a bottle Red Wine. A nice place to meet friends for drinks.

We visited for Mother’s Day. I had a roast dinner which was nice, however roast potatoes were still quite hard. Staff not overly attentive- had to ask again for water, we were not asked if we would like anymore drinks, we were asked if the food was ok after a mouthful though so that was attentive. There were 2 adults and 2 children. We had one main each and 2 children’s desserts. Drinks were paid at the bar upon arrival. We Did not get a bill, we had to ask and pay before we left. My partner was charged £59 plus a £40 deposit paid when booking not sure what we spent £60 on. Also the Tickell had announced on their Facebook “We also have a little something in store for all the mums as an extra treat” which was a nice gesture but I did not receive anything. This is our local, but disappointed at the service this time. I must add, the young lady working behind the bar was and always is very friendly.

We eat a good meal in the extension. The staff were welcoming and efficient. I had a beef parcel. It was ok but too much pastry for me. There was a vegetarian option which my friend had but it had deep fried cauliflower. Dessert was cheesecake which was creamy but a bit bland. The chocolate delice my ground had she said was delicious. The atmosphere would have been better in the pub part

Food was excellent! Automatic Service charge? Really ... The service was the minimum expected. You took a food order, served, asked once if everything was ok. Then there's a charity contribution on the bill too. If it's the business wanting to give to charity, do so, but automatically adding this to customers bills doesn't feel right and shouldn't be expected imo.

We'd visited tickwell arms a few years ago for a group Christmas meal and had a good experience decided to go back again this year and found the experience very disappointing by comparison. Slow to be seated at our table starters after 30 minutes but was a full 1hr 15m from our initial table time till we got our mains. Attitude of staff was bad it's a stressful time of year for them I'm sure but when you've got children crying about being hungry getting huffly told it'll be ready soon is not a great response. We'd also pre-ordered everything so not like they were caught off guard. So overall disappointing would avoid during busy times.

Probably the best roast dinner I have had in years! Everything about this place was great. It’s a beautiful country pub restaurant and buzzing with people. All the staff without exception were fabulous, so friendly and very efficient too. The drinks order was taken quickly and they informed us that there would be a 20 minute wait for the main meal as the chef was making a fresh batch of Yorkshire puddings, this was not a problem for us and were well worth the wait! We went for the 2 person sharing roast which I would recommend. The food was cooked to perfection all served within a plate size freshly baked Yorkshire pudding. The beef was cooked to perfection, rare, no fat and melt in your mouth. Our friends had roast chicken and pork which were equally delicious. The chefs in this place really know their stuff! This will become our new go to for sunday lunch. What a find!

My wife found this pub as it was close to IWM Duxford where we were spending the day and the reviews, albeit variable, were mostly positive. Booked for a late Sunday lunch for five of us for 4.30, but arrived early at 3.45. Pub was super busy, and staff whizzing around, so we grabbed a drink at the bar and sat at a lovely garden seat by their pond brimming with fish. Spoke to a lovely chap called Joe, who couldn't have been more helpful. It was extremely hot so we asked if it was possible to be either on the terrace or by an open door. We were super chilled as we knew we were early. Joe was very courteous and found us a lovely table by open doors with a nice breeze. There was a birthday lunch going on with around 30 people in the restaurant, so Joe took our order quickly to get ahead of the big order. All food and service mainly by Joe but others as well was excellent and we had coffees outside to cool off. All in all a terrific experience. I feel its important to engage with people and treat them with respect and it usually pay you back often two fold. We were all tickled by The Tickell Arms. Thank you team Tickell

We had booked our table for 12.15 and were seated for nearly an hour before our orders was taken. The waiter was very sweaty in his face, yes I know it’s summer, but it’s not a good look. Our lunch was hurried and we soon found out why, a Wake of 100 people had been booked into the same area where several diners were already sitting. Had we been given any prior notice of this. No we had not. We had finished our meal but another table had to move to another part of the bar area to finish their lunch. The food was definitely not up to Cambs Cuisine usual standard, I received a grey slimy courgette with my fish, the peach sloppy. All was rush, rush, rush to accommodate the Wake mourners. So make up your minds, don’t take bookings and lay up tables which you cannot service due to staff numbers or whatever. Put yr prebooked lunch customers in a different part of yr pub so they can enjoy their food rather than endure filthy looks from the Wake mourners who appeared just as fed up as we were on this particular day.

Was greated by Joe, who turned out to be my server, waiter. Very busy Sunday, but Joe continued to treat me like a VIP. Very rare in places, generally when dining alone. I booked my table and specifically requested a bench seat, I find so many other types too uncomfortable. I had a table in the more open are, that looks out to their beautiful pond x Camambere starter (my absolute favourite, this one njula sausage, onion relish, salted bread chips, rocket / olive oil (balsamic may be better?) X delicious; followed by Roast sirloin, cooked rare, very tender, Roast potatoes, delicious. Yorkshire pud lovely, remaining vegetables bit disappointing, they were a bit cold, parsnips bland - would love roasted, cabbage very few strands only served. Carrot slices, also bit bland. Maybe a small piece of stuffing, and vegetables give a choice, and maybe served hotter, in a little side dish? Gravy was thick. Dessrt I had Malted milk Crem brule, with its own shortbread biscuit; followed after short time raspberry sorbet - didnt expect this one to taste sickly sweet, was part melted also, not as expected. Overall 90% perfect. Thanks to the lovely Joe. Generally there appears to be a great hardworking team. Cant wait to return xxx

Normally a great evening out however they have changed their menu and things have slipped. They serve chicken tikka curry but don’t provide or offer rice with it and so you are prompted to have an additional side of fries/potatoes for an extra £4. Who serves curry without rice? The sea bass and peaches should be avoided. The peaches were hard and shouldn’t have been served. They add a 10% service charge to the bill and then also an additional £1 for something called Camcusine. You can of course ask for it to be removed however I personally don’t think this should be there in the first place and I wonder whether the staff actually get it. If the service and food deserve a tip I’ll more than happily give it in cash. As for the Camcusine, no idea what that goes to. After 4 years of regular visits suspect this will be the last as there are many other options in the area available.

We visited after a day out by chance, saw the good reviews and booked as we headed there. A beautiful setting, it has been renovated to a great standard, sitting out in the garden with lots of great areas around the pond. We were sat in the conservatory overlooking this which was pleasing. So, the menu is clearly aimed at fine dining, the chef knows his stuff and produces quality dishes. That said, for a basic plain eater used to the usual standard pub fare, this menu is limiting and expensive. This may have been why it was relatively quiet for a sunny Friday evening. My husband opted for the burger as it was a “normal” affordable option and said it was delicious. I struggled to find something that appealed so I opted to just have dessert as spoilt for choice with those! It’s a lovely pub that we would love to return to try their lunch menu.

Booked for a late Saturday lunch but arrived 45 minutes early. Absolutely no fuss sitting us down straight away. The staff were all very friendly, offering the menu's drinks and then taking orders all in a timely manor. was disappointed that there were no specials left but put that down to the time of day? Assume specials did not re-appear for dinner? Across our 6 diners we had Pork, pasta, bream, pie and plaice. I think the food is actually quite simple. often there are just 3 components to the meals (meat and two veg) with a gravy/sauce. I had the pork and it was ok. apparently the plaice was very small with sauce and beans and the tagliatelle was not brilliant. The problem I have is that not only have the prices gone up it does not feel like value for money anymore. Eating out used to be an experience to savour, now sadly it feels like a luxury purchase and yet the food is left wanting. I have been to most if not all the Cambs Cuisine restaurants on a number of occasions in the last 10+ years and I think they need to up their game a bit. The positives remain the staff, they are all attentive and friendly and welcoming. The final nail in the coffin for me was when I got home I was ill. We have eaten here previously and had a really good experience of food and service. Unfortunately, our last visit for lunch did not match our expectations. The food was as good as ever, but the wait of more than an hour between starters and main courses was not acceptable, especially for the two of us who did not have a starter! It was a very hot day and the dining room was incredibly hot, however the lovely staff kept checking we had plenty of iced water. The pea soup was hot creamy and plentiful but unfortunately it was way too salty. The main course was also very salty, I had fish, beautifully fresh and cooked to perfection. But was served in a yellow salty puddle laced with a tablespoon of white beans and a small amount of spinach and tiny cubes of chorizo. Less salt, less sauce and more beans would have been a nicer balance. But what a beautiful place! The conservatory and picturesque pond are well worth visiting.
