The Three Willows in Uttlesford

Came for a family birthday. The Lamb shank was cooked perfectly. Best I have had in ages. Everyone in our party 8 adults and 2 children left very happy.

Was such a lovely pub! Me and my family are going away on holiday and staying at a hotel by stansted airport, went here for dinner the night before and was absolutely amazing food and really lovely staff!

Everything was superb, food, atmosphere, service-even the toilets. Waitress even took a group photo. Most of us had fish which is their speciality.

We were a group of around 30 WI ladies having a belated Christmas meal in January. They provided a full Christmas menu for us to choose from in advance, we all got exactly what we had ordered, the quality of the food was excellent the staff very friendly and helpful and we all thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Really good homecooked food at excellent value , service was very attentive. We had whitebait , sea bass and steak and kidney pudding, 2 of us , all of it was absolutely lovely. Very hot and very good value

We have been many times but I’ve never left a review. This time we attended for a family funeral, the staff were helpful, considerate and polite. There was a large selection of the preordered buffet with plenty of food for everyone. I would always recommend this little gem for all your family occasions and gatherings

Met up at the Three Willows for lunch with friends as a half way point between home. Shown to our table quickly by friendly staff who sorted out drinks while we were reviewing the extensive menu. Following great tasting starters, the Steak and Ale pie and Steak pudding meals then followed which everyone said were excellent. Due to the portions we had no room for dessert but will back again in future.

We went on Sunday to celebrate our Dad’s 80th birthday. There were 20 of us. From start to finish the service was fantastic, they couldn’t do enough for you, Food was excellent, and the prices are extremely reasonable, we had a lovely afternoon, we will definitely return. Thank you to all at the Willows.

I had the steak and ale pie plenty of meat pie was in possible to cut rock hard obviously over cooked sauté potatoes over cooked and hard the peas where fine The wife had the scampi with chips and peas said it was ok. They had a large menu perhaps reduce that and get the basics right. A gem in a village is not what we found.

Great pub and always busy. We have been there several times for lunch as it is halfway between my house and my daughter's. Generally there are 11 of us aged between 7 and 70+. I usually have the grilled tuna, my husband the grilled skate. The curry and pies have been good as are the whitebait. We nearly all have something different and as yet nobody has ever been disappointed. Unless you are my 13 year old grandson, you might want to share a dessert or starter. The staff are always friendly and are happy to swap items such as peas for baked beans. While road works are ongoing by the M11, it is worth checking for any road closures. The pub is always accessible but might require a short detour. The pub is definitely worth any detour.

So disappointed I don’t like leaving unflattering reviews But I feel this could help others Make a better choice We had Sunday lunch I had roast beef the beef was tough and appeared to have been microwaved The vegetables arrived around ten minutes after our meal We had to ask two assistants where they were The staff consisted of mostly teenagers though they were competent and polite with under guidance of an older staff member that appeared polite but over worked and unhappy The atmosphere was fraught and stressed There was one table of four where 2 ate their whole meal before the other couples meal had arrived It’s a nice looking building to the exterior but unfortunately we found the atmosphere delivery and quality of food was so disappointing

Lovely lunch experience for the whole family. The staff are lovely and very accommodating. Love the fact there's a kids play area in the garden too which means you can enjoy your food and drink I relative peace. Thanks again for such a lovely experience!!!!

Heard about this establishment from friends and decided to give it a try. I never really eat out in UK as good food is hard to come by at prices that are affordable. I dont mind paying good money for good food and i found that here. Lots of fish dishes to choose from. Homemade suet pudding was a winner with The Boy whilst I had stilton and mushroom pie. Very nice. I will come here again

We have visited with family for lunch and we had an amazing experience. Everything was perfect from,atmosphere,waiters ,location and can’t even explain the taste of the food!! Definitely recommended

Went on Saturday night even without booking they accommodate us. We had 2 steaks cooked at perfection sauté and chips very tasty food was piping hot!!! Service was excellent specially the lady so polite friendly and efficient. I will definitely recommend !!!

Had a really enjoyable evening here. The four of us had different starters and mains and we all thought the food was excellent. It is nice to find a place serving good home-cooked food without it either being the standard boil-in-the-bag crap which you get at a chain restaurant or pretentious and expensive. This place is good value and the staff were nice and friendly. Re Covid, the tables were well spaced apart. Recommended.

We had a terrible meal here a few months ago but decided to give it another try just in case they were having an off day. The staff are pleasant enough, as is the beer garden and general surroundings. The food arrived, not much effort with the presentation. A few people had the skate which was dry and tasteless, one of them had to be sent back as it looked undercooked. My sausage and mash was akin to hospital food. The mashed potato was abysmal, lumpy and tasteless. I don't even know how you can go so wrong in making mashed potato, it was inedible. The "red onion gravy" mentioned on the menu was clearly just Bisto granules or a more tasteless counterpart. I had a dessert to fill the gap after not eating my mash, completely unremarkable.The thing that topped it off was the chef wandering in and out of the kitchen with a disgustingly dirty rag trailing out of the back pocket of his jeans. He looked disinterested and unkempt, very off putting and slovenly to be perfectly honest. The barman was very pleasant, as were the waitresses.

Another great meal at The Three Willows. The management have gone to a great deal of effort to provide a safe yet still enjoyable environment to enjoy drinks and dinner. The staff are attentive and as usual the food served was top notch .

Visiting family in the area and this pub had good reviews and was also recommended. We booked for 6 of us a few days earlier. On arrival, we were seated in the bar area, rather than the more pleasant, comfortable dining area, even though we are a family group with a 6 year old. There was noise coming from football on the tv and music through speakers. I asked if the sound could be lowered on tv but they said would turn music off instead.Then a loud group came in, who were swearing and talking inappropriately in front of a family group and a little girl. We asked if we could please be moved to the dining area for our puddings. The waitress said she would as soon as she could but in the meantime she spoke to the group. This was embarrassing as it was obvious it was us who had complained and they then mocked the fact they had been ‘told off’.We were eventually moved and the waitress apologised and said we should not have been seated in the bar area. She said she would knock the puddings off the bill. I thought this fair and thanked her. However, when the bill was brought only one pudding was not charged for. I questioned this and was told that was correct. Really....one pudding knocked off...you shouldn’t have bothered. We won’t be back. And the food is nice enough but nothing special, plenty other nice places to go

Pulled off motorway and found this gem. Cracking service, covid secure and hot food. Menu not exactly fine cuisene however if good hearty pub food is your bag you will not be disappointed. Looked like it could get very busy with good weather.

Top end pub grub at sensible prices. Drive down any country lane and sooner or later you'll discover a charming British pub offering 'home cooked food'. Blah Blah. Nearly always it's bought in from a wholesaler and the chef's most demanding task is squeezing a sachet of gloop onto a ready-cooked chicken portion. Not here. Mouthwatering French onion soup, beautiful crispy homemade batter for the cod, chef's own creamy mushroom and stilton pie, delicious, too-large-to-eat deserts, were just a few of the delights our group of 6 enjoyed during our visit last Sunday. A wonderful visit booked at short notice. For those who haven't visited make this your next choice.

Always tend to stop for lunch if we're in the area and are never disappointed! Impressed with the Covid secure measures in place and felt safe. As it was a lovely day, we decided to sit in the beautiful garden (which had been improved during lockdown). I ordered home made lasagne which was totally delicious and came with a side of salad and garlic bread. My husband went for the sausage and mash with onion gravy and fresh veggies which he thoroughly enjoyed too. We had a bottle of lovely chilled Rosè to accompany our meal and spent a very pleasant hour or so enjoying our lunch in the garden. Staff here are lovely, nothing is too much trouble and it's a fabulous village pub. Lots of specials and fish on offer on the menu here too. Highly recommended!!

Fantastic meal,Wednesday night place packed and it was a government eat out night. All the staff were helpful and nothing seemed to be to much trouble. We only waited 15 minutes for our meal Well worth a visit

We have just enjoyed another delicious meal at the Three Willows followed by coffee in the beautifully refurbished garden, The service was excellent all the staff were wearing visors and constantly cleaning felt very safe indeed .Looking forward to our next visit.
