The Three Pilchards in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Not to be missed if you in the locality, arrived at lunchtime, were welcomed at the door, seated quickly, no fuss despite being very busy. Looked after by Sen, discussed some dishes on the menu, brought our drinkers to the table, our food arrived quickly, and freshly cooked. Sen checked with us during our meal asking if all was well ? could he get us anything else? very attentive but not intrusive. The food was well presented , excellent quality, and appetising. Well worth the 1.5 hour journey from our home on the Lizard . To be recommended. Thank you Sen for looking after us and making our visit special.

Lovely friendly pub with beautiful fresh cooked food, we took our dogs for a walk along the south west coast path then popped into the Three Pilchards for lunch, great choice of food on the menu and Matt and Fiona made us very welcome, will definitely go back when we return to this lovely part of the UK

Matt and his team were super welcoming and happy to help where possible. The food was amazing and I’d highly recommend the bubble and squeak starter and definitely upgrade to add the ham hock! The fish pie was a winner for me and my partner had the crab bisque starter followed by the tiger prawns and scallops for main, all of excellent quality. The food is clearly cooked from fresh to order and the menu clearly states this with a 45 min wait time. But to be honest this wasn’t really a problem for us as the atmosphere of the pub made up for that as well as the fact that we weren’t in a rush, plus we didn’t wait that long. If you’re looking for a proper Cornish eatery with rustic charm, great ales and amazing staff then do make The Three Pilchards a stop off on your visit to Polperro.

Had a lovely lunch. I had the fish pie which was the best I have tasted and my husband had ham, eggs and chips which he really enjoyed. The ham was especially good. Karen and Amy were so friendly and attentive and looked after us. It was a day trip from Devon for us to relax and Karen and Amy made us feel so welcome 😁 They are a credit to your business

Absolutely fantastic place to stop for a birthday lunch and a couple of beers. Matt who served us was exceptional as was the food, I’ve never tasted a better fish pie. We will absolutely be back again.

We stayed in Polperro for 3 nights, intending to try a different eating place each night, but the Three Pilchards was so good we actually went there all 3 nights. Really good menu, covering seafood (as you would expect in Polperro), traditional pub grub, excellent burgers and more. If you just want a light bite there’s also a tapas type sharing menu. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. What more could you want. Very dog friendly.

We stopped here for lunch, very friendly staff, delicious food, I would thoroughly recommend this Pub whether you want something to eat or just a drink. We will definitely come back next time we are in the area.

Wherever we stay in Cornwall we take a trip to Polperro. The Three Pilchards has been our favourite watering hole for the last 16 years and in that time yes it may have changed hands but we have never had a bad meal. We have always managed to get a table, the staff are so friendly and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed Sunday lunch yesterday it was delicious. We aren’t back in Cornwall until August but will be back and hopefully will sit on the sun deck next time.

Sunday lunch at The Three Pilchards was amazing!! Get there at opening time as the tables were all taken on a first come basis. It's not my first time at this fantastic pub but it's the atmosphere, the amazing food and the staff that make you feel welcome and want to keep coming back. I came on Mother's Day and was busy, so I had a drink at the bar and didn't have to wait long for my table. Mat and Karen were an absolute joy, kind and welcoming. A true credit to the pub. I had the fish pie. I was not disappointed! Hearty, full of flavour and perfect Sunday food! Can't wait to be back. Thank you!

We have eaten here every day for 4 days and the food and service has been excellent. It’s super dog friendly. The staff team are really helpful, attentive, just kind and make you feel like you should be there. We had a super Sunday lunch to finish off our break looked after by Karen, Matt and Sen but the team in the week were also exceptional. It felt like we left our local and found another. Thank you. We didn’t feel like a tourist. There’s a bit of magic in that.

This place was absolutely amazing. The food was gorgeous ( Sunday roast and the cobbler) with very generous portions sizes and seasonal veg. The pub itself is very small and if it's busy you can add your name to a list for dining and they call you when they can fit you in. The staff are very competent and we're very friendly.

A very enjoyable all too brief Sunday lunchtime interlude at the end of our walk along the SW Coast Path from Looe. Landlady was super welcoming and accommodating and enjoyed a pint of draft Appalls cider to accompany my delicious local sausage sandwich. Highly recommended.

Arrived on a wet Saturday afternoon with my wife and dog, all of us very wet and muddy having walked the coast path from the other side of Looe. We asked if they were happy with our bedraggled state and couldn’t have had a warmer welcome from both staff and locals. One of the ladies got us seated by the window were we spent a long afternoon eating beautifully prepared food with great local ales and well priced wine. A very memorable afternoon in a beautiful old pub made extra special by the great staff. Highly recommended and would love to visit again sometime.

After a long walk along the coast from lansallos car park to Polperro we stopped at the three pilchards public house. there was eight in our party and I can honestly say everyone of us had a wonderful meal. I went for the traditional Ham Egg and chips and it was first class. The service was second to none all the staff was polite and attentive and made our half way stop the highlight of the day. The walk was fantastic as well rain held off and the views from the cliff walk was breath taking.
