The Three Horseshoes in North East Derbyshire

I went for the first time Monday and had full english breakfast- wow!! I didn’t even nearly finish it but not for want of trying. So hot and fresh when it came to the table. Went for lunch today to see how the lunch menu was and absolutely delicious! Homemade and super tasty. Even the cheesecake was clearly homemade. Coffee smells wonderful and was lovely too and staff are just super friendly and full of smiles. Looking forward to coming to sample the evening menu soon. Thank you to the whole team.

Unlike any other visit I’ve had over the years, this one was quite disappointing. As a late mother’s day treat, we chose to dine for lunch at the Three Horse Shoes. We ordered from the grill. Our plates arrived with items of food missing which were listed on the menu. I had to call the waitress back over to question the dish and prompt the missing food. (£19 gammon stacks) As I’m a very frequent diner at The Three Horse Shoes, I am aware that the quality of service, as well as the presentation of the food is usually impeccable! Overall this particular visit did not feel enjoyable and I was let down on a special occasion for my mum.

Cosy warm and won't hurt your wallet. Some of the best pub grub I've seen. The mixed grill was amazing and the minted lamb was the best I've ever had. Will be coming back for pie night

We came here today for a Mothers Day meal and were not disappointed. The Sunday lunch was delicious - the best I’ve had in a long time. There was 8 of us including 2 children. It was very busy but the staff worked hard and tried their best to make sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be visiting again. Thanks

These guys do the best food!! Absolutely amazing experience, I used to go to the Market Pub for a fancy meal when living in chesterfield town and I wanted a new place similar when I moved to Clay Cross but not only do I find the food even better here the bill at the end was only half the price!! We had 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts and 3 drinks and it only came to £65?? For the quality of the food that is incredible! I've had more expensive meals at Pizza Hut and Three Horse Shoes is like fine dining... Definitely my go to for a meal!

Work meet up for breakfast, all had a breakfast, plenty of choice all cooked to our requirements, lovely food and friendly staff, very busy but didn’t have to wait long for our food. Thankyou we will be returning.

Lovely little pub, friendly staff. Nice generous portions. Went for Sunday lunch. Everything was great apart from our food wasn't hot unfortunately and needed a minute in the microwave or something 😆. Other than that, thoroughly enjoyed it and not overpriced. Recommended.

Walked in with my wife this morning at around 10.30am for the very first time, and received a very warm and friendly welcome from the lovely young lady behind the bar, she was at our table within 2 minutes to take our order, which is very rare in most other places. The breakfast was amazing, and those sausages are to die for, we absolutely loved them, I actually struggled to finish the breakfast, and my wife pinched my last bit of sausage 😲, she said she thought I needed help lol. We will be back for sure, and we can't wait to try dinner there. Amazing place, dont hesitate to pay a visit 😉👍 UPDATE !! Okay so we went back yesterday 5.2.24 for my pre Birthday meal, I had the trio of sausages, which I couldn't resist after having them for breakfast a few days before, see above. My wife had the home made lasagne, which she informed me was the best shes had in her life, and trust me she's had a few lol. Both meals were absolutely top class, and it won't be long before we return. You seriously need to go and check this place out, I guarantee you will not be disappointed 😉👍

Went in for the usual Thursday night quiz night and it was as good as ever. Great service from behind the bar and Mark provided the entertainment from behind the mic.

Came here for breakfast with a friend this month. Breakfast was lovely, nice size, filling and the best part is you can choose what you like on the breakfast. As opposed to set menu. Plenty of choice . The taste was nice, flavourful. The staff are friendly. The decor is tired however it looks like the pub is under renovation.

Pie night experience was great, choice of 6 pies as well as normal menu, hand made pies were delicious, my wife not a fan of the pastry (as she’s always on some weight loss crusade) but I thought the shortcrust was excellent and made the pie, I had meat and potato which was tasty and cooked superbly, my wife had Lamb and mint which was also tasty but she felt the filling was slightly chewier than mine , but as I pointed out, they were 2 different pies . I have never had a bad experience here staff friendly, accommodating and attentive to all our needs, food excellent value for money and superb quality. I would highly recommend it

Happened across this place while I was lost in the Peak District so stopped for some lunch absolutely lovely food, nice staff, cozy pub.

My meat lasagne,garlic bread chips was delicious,cheese and bacon burger was great,husband had rump steak was brilliant.all meals had lovely chunky chips all the food was very hot.

Lovely lasagna last Thursday. Cheesecake to die for after, best meal out in a long time.

We are sightseeing with the family in the area and I went to dinner. It's a lovely pub and very welcoming. All the food was very good! The dishes are big and with all the extras you want. The service was very kind and attentive (thank you!!!) Just as we were leaving they were preparing live music, too bad we couldn't stay, we'll have to do it again 😊

We had a truly enjoyable experience here for my stepdad’s birthday. Three of us had rump steaks, all cooked to our liking. I opted to add a Diane sauce to mine. I was expecting a small pot but I was served what could only be compared to a gravy boat, and I could not put it down! Other members of the party ordered hunters chicken and a tikka massala. They catered both chips and rice for the curry, not even batting an eyelid at the request. The service was impeccable, they truly deserved their tip. I have recommended to friends already and will certainly be returning. Special shout out to Cathy, whom we have known for some years but treated us all professionally regardless. Thank you so much!

Our group Christmas meal today was fab. The food was piping hot, nicely presented, plenty of it , tasty, with first class service, very cosy , great atmosphere and very friendly staff. We would 100% recommend it .

Visited here for lunch for the 1st time yesterday, Saturday 9th Dec, with my husband & cousin. The outside of the pub is a bit ordinary, it's at the end of a terrace of small shops & other pubs but the inside is lovely, well...

We came for our works Christmas party as it was recommended by one of our girls. We all had the 2 or 3 course Christmas menu, the starters were meals in themselves! Most had the turkey and trimmings and all commented how nice the food was, I had a salmon dish as I had a Christmas meal the night before and it was delicious, piping hot and lots of it. The sweets were also generous portions and delicious too. Service was good and staff polite and helpful. Great evening much nicer than the Christmas meal I had the night before at a highly rated country club in the Midlands!

Our go to Sunday lunch spot. Great value and good quality food. Very tentative friendly staff. Recommend to book in advance as it’s quite popular. Deserts are a must.

A good range on the menu and everything cooked perfectly. You'll need a good lie down after a meal here as the portions are generous. There is a good choice of hand pulled draught beers.

I had a list of eating places around Darwin forest, I looked and ticked the ones I thought were ok when I came to yours I gave “ the three horses” 2ticks, we had a lovely meal there.

The Halloumi, Aubergine & Mushroom burger, I thought this would be all in one kinda a patty but it wasn't it was 2 battered halloumi burgers with a slice of aubergine in between with mushrooms on the side, it was OK, very greasy, personally think it would have been nicer with just one halloumi burger, some salad on the burger & something like a chilli jam, asked for chunky chips & received sweet potatoe fries, it was a nice meal not sure I would order again. We also ordered the 10oz rump steak, asked for blue & it was cooked to perfection. Very generous portion sizes, good value for money, would definitely recommend & revisit.

Service great the second you walked through the door you were welcomed and sat at a table. Soon after we ordered drinks and given time to look at the extensive menu. We choose starters and although we all ordered different, they all arrived at same time, and they were gorgeous. Plates removed when all finished. Then came the mains and again all different ordered all came exactly at the same time, beautifully presented and we all struggled but didn't wish to leave any food on the plate. My 92 year old dad managed to clear his not sadly the same for me and my husband , we were beaten. But we will be back very soon. It was the best pub me any of us have eaten for a very long time. Thank you to all the staff and the chef it was wonderful.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Lovely hot food. Really pleasant attentive staff. Good value for money. I had the small turkey lunch which would have classed as large anywhere else. My friend had the lambshank she thought this was excellent.

I didn't like the atmosphere and the unfriendly women behind the bar. Felt most unwelcome. Can't comment on the food as we went elsewhere.

First time we been here on recommendation, what a great place for food I had vegan burger fries and salad it was gorgeous my hubby had Pie peas and mash both dishes were fantastic. Had a build your own breakfast. Good vegetarian options available. Value for money and tasty. Only marked down to 4 stars due to the lack of changing facilities for our 2 year old in the men's toilets.

We visited on a hot sunny day,& the pub was uncomfortably warm. Air con would have been a huge bonus. The staff were lovely - very friendly & obliging. There’s a huge choice on the menu & it caters well for those with dietary restrictions....

I absolutely love visiting this pub... the food is excellent... Great value meals. Home cooked. The pie is the absolute best. Full to the brim with meat, no half measures. Chips are massive and very tasty. Had an omelette last night. Delicious. Quiz night on Thursday's really good fun. The locals are friendly too.. Bar staff and landlord are all very happy and attentive.

Friendly pub with excellent reasonably priced food

Very welcoming and attentive staff, nothing too much trouble fir them. We went for food without reservation, it was verrrry bizzy but we was happy too sit have a drink relax n then have food. Excellent food, tasty and large portions, again nothing too much for the chef, ... Will definitely be coming again when back in the UK.

Great place for a dinner. Very cozy. Menu is simple yet dishes tastes great. Decor is a bit old but place in general is clean. Good prices as well.
