Went here because reviews said loads of things gluten free but we never saw a menu or was offered one so can’t comment however we did say coffee and cakes when we arrived so probably reason not given one asked gf cakes and was offered a brownie or raspberry slice. Hubby who is coeliac opted for the latter. And 2 milky correction latte coffees with half a shot of coffee in each just how we wanted then. People were having breakfasts and they looked yummy but owner said sausages were not gf we bought a couple of things from the shop a print and as red deer statue there was no rush to move you on and one table were sat on there laptop as good WiFi signal.

The full lock cruise in very wet weather was brilliantly organised with stunning views and Wildlife. The cruise leaves near Genfinnan house hotel and ends at Acharacle at other end of the lock. Ali and Chris not only looked after us they showed great knowledge of the Lock and its history. We saw white tailed eagles with chick in nest and black throated divers along with common seagulls and two chicks. The crew knew where to look and navigated the ship so we had some great photographs. The knowledge of the history buildings and the Jacobite history was well explained.

Visited the Thistle Stop cafe for lunch and a browse of the little gift shop. We were met by the owner who gave us a warm welcome. The snack menu, lunch menu, Christmas menu and specials board gave us a great choice. For a starter the cooked brie in grape and pomegranate juice was incredible and the pan fried haddock in cheese sauce for main course was really good. Highly recommend the Thistle stop. Great value, great food and a lovely welcome....if only all were as good as this.

We had lunch here on a rainy day in the highlands having read the rave reviews. And this is another addition to the universal acclaim. This is a very welcoming and bright space well suited to the current restrictions. Tables inside and outside and pleasant views. The quality of the food was outstanding - everything cooked to order and prepared with love. We had a range of food: smoked mackerel pate, chicken wings, smoked haddock with sautéed potatoes and cheese sauce (really comforting), lasagne (home made so not brake brothers special in a ceramic dish) followed by some great cakes. All very good value. We said we would come back and here we are now having breakfast.

They also have a small shop inside where you can purchase fabric, patterns & other miscellaneous items.Since I am a quilter I was extremely excited to make some purchases. The price were quite reasonable. There is also several displays of homemade gifts most of which were locally made items. I was very happy to find many treasures to bring back to the states. We found the cafe open after its usual 2 day closer. It was raining and we found out later that the road ahead was closed. It was very, very busy and many customers left because they couldn't get served. We found an empty table after waiting. We felt so sorry for the couple running the cafe. The man in the kitchen was very stressed and was literally running every where. The tables were not cleared and it took quite a while for our order to be taken. In the middle of cooking a food delivery arrived, which added to the wait. I have to admit the food was really good. I had a prawn jacket with plenty of prawns. It was very reasonably priced as well. At no time were we told about the wait due to the problems of the road. We really enjoyed the food. Hope things have calmed down for you.

The owner (I think) welcomed us and said we were just ahead of a large group and had come just in time. We’d just decided on our order when that group of female bikers arrived for lunch, but we were expertly waited on and served without a hitch. Our paninis and soup were delicious, as well as our coffee. The cafe also has a cute little shop included, which also sold yarns and sewing supplies. Super cute with delicious food. Follow the signs!

Stopped for a breakfast was delicious. I got the impression nothing would be too much trouble for the owner. Will go back again if I get the chance. Loved it. Only criticism is it closes far too early. :-)

Stopped off for a spot of lunch while waiting to book into our holiday home for the week, I had a Brie and cranberry panini which hit the spot, the view was amazing from the outdoor seating area, the lady that greeted us was so polite and gave us plenty of time to settle in and enjoy our food before she came back to clear the plates, would highly recommend if your passing through for a quick bite :)

We stopped off for coffee on the way to Fort Augustus from Fort William and had a lovely coffee and treacle tart which was gorgeous. All the food looked nice. The owners were very friendly and welcoming to everybody who came in.

We stopped at the Thistle Stop on our way to Inverness following the signs on the main road. We were very pleasantly surprised by the variety of choices: everything was homemade and we had delicious sandwiches as well as brie and cranberry paninis. Lovely staff and warm welcome ! Free wifi too.

Great find after failing to find anywhere to eat in Fort Augustus - it was so busy as lovely weather. However, a few miles down the road was worth the journey. Great tasting food, generous portions and lovely friendly service.

Stopped here purely by chance as we were both starving. So glad we did!! Food was home cooked and delicious, I had a jacket tattie with haggis and cheese, followed by home made lemon treacle tart. My partner had the quiche, again, home made and he said the chips were the best he's ever had. So wished we lived a bit nearer, keep it up, you are doing a fab job
