Beware if you are going to eat here then bring cash as there is no facility to pay with a debit card. The first I was aware of this was when we arrived at the restaurant and saw a hand written note attached to the beer pumps. The waitress then couldn’t find my booking that I had made online. She apologised and said that there was a problem with the website. I asked how could I pay and she said to place our order and then go to Tesco to get the cash out from the ATM, as I was with my son I was left on my own while he went to get the money needed. It wasn’t a good start to a Sunday roast and no matter how good it may be sadly I don’t think I’ll be returning due this lack of organisation. If a restaurant is going to operate a cash only system then it should be made clear on the near impossible to navigate website!

After having tried the breakfast which we weren't impressed with, we gave it another chance and tried the carvery, after reading good reviews I thought why not.If you want a quiet Sunday dinner - go elsewhere, if you want a decent Sunday dinner - go elsewhere. Only decent thing on the plate was the Yorkshire pudding. Fatty meat, deep fried bullet roast potatoes, deep fried bullet stuffing balls, awful veg, ghost gravy, place is very dated, not clean, very noisy - staff too, couldn't wait to leave.

I booked the Tee House afternoon tea as a treat for my hubby's 50th birthday, as I had visited there on a previous occasion, and it seemed quite nice. Upon booking, I was asked if there were any dietary requirements, I explained that I was vegetarian, and did not eat chocolate, and they said that was fine. However when we got there, we were shown to a table in a partly darkened room, which I was surprised about, as the restaurant was quite empty and there were some window tables with a lovely view of the countryside. My hubby didn't want to make a fuss as it was his birthday treat and he just wanted to enjoy it, so I said nothing. When the food was brought to our table, I looked at it, and there were a choice of 4 types of sandwiches, 3 of which were meat, meaning that my only choice was 3 triangle sandwiches of grated cheese, which had no butter on them, so they were dry. The cakes they had given us were two chocolate cakes, despite me telling them I don't eat chocolate, so I couldn't have them either, there were two very small mini tarts, and I had to have those while my hubby had the two cakes. There were also two small scones, which were fine. Again my hubby didn't want to make a fuss, but I was fuming. What also didn't help was that there was a waitress was walking around us cleaning the other tables, and opening coughing on the tables as she cleaned them. Considering this meal cost me over £20, I was not happy to be walking away still hungry. Will NOT be going back.

Table booked for 1.30 pm. First solid food arrived at the table 2.15 pm. Steak was overcooked. Service was slow and inattentive throughout - and they really weren't busy: there were eight other tables in the room - all empty. Staff sweeping and laying tables around us, chatting loudly to one another. Noisy music and other background sometimes made it difficult for us to talk to each other. On the other hand, a two course meal for four of us, with soft drinks, only came to just over £50, so you get what you pay for. If we want cheap and low quality, we'll go there again - if we want a pleasant dining experience, we'll definitely go somewhere else.

We booked this place entirely on trip advisor reviews! What a disappointment.. the building looks like an old village hall, inside is tired and dirty. Wet tables with used glasses in, old sofas, decor in dire need of paint. We arrived 15 mins early so we were happy to sit and have a drink before lunch. But after 40 mins I decided to ask if our table was ready.. they had forgotten about us! The waitress a very apologetic, but really!! Recently I booked out the conservatory at the tee house foe a function for 50 people. The Tee House where very accommodating, the staff where very friendly, Tara the manager was easy to contact very understanding and helped to make the day much easier. The put on a buffet including sandwiches, which i requested some fillings, quiche, sausage rolls, cakes and the price also included tea and coffee for all the guests. We were able to provided our own equiptment to play music and show photos. There was one coeliac in the party and they whwre able to cater foe her brilliantly. I was concerned that although i had booked 50 people more people would turn up and Tara was able to organise more sandwiches just incase. There is ample parking which was also very important to us considering how many people were coming. The staff at the tee house really helped to make the day easy for us a big thank you.

Family of 6 for pre-booked carvery in evening. Arrived on time, shown to a table with no lighting at all. After only a short wait they organised another, somewhat cramped table. After a longer than expected wait we were invited to the carvery. The roast beef looked completely uncooked but the turkey and veg were ok. Another long wait for entirely adequate puddings. I've made allowance for low price in the rating.

We came here on a Sunday afternoon after booking a table in advance. The carvery was lovely, one of the best I’ve had. Great value for money and lots of variety. Service was also very good, all waitressss were very helpful and friendly and fussing over our 6 month old daughter. They offered a bowl for her dinner free of charge. One small criticism only, which is that the roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding weren’t great, a little dry and soggy. Normally this would ruin a roast dinner but there was plenty of other things cooked to perfection, particularly the meat and crackling. I would recommend this place to others and would definitely visit again.

Me 2 friends and my partner went here for a carvery. We showed up around 15 minutes before our due time which confused the lady looking after us as it took her a good few minutes to find our booking. We got showed to the table and then proceeded to the carvery area where the lady serving our food was very abrupt and rude. She told us all that she had ‘had a bad day and not to start’. She complained to us that people get their meats mixed up and she doesn’t understand how people can be so thick. This was after I had asked her what meat was what so it was clearly aimed at myself. The food on whole was okay. Meat was nice. Gravy needs some serious work...far too watery and zero flavour! After we had eaten we moved onto the desserts. It took a long time for them to good which is acceptable if homemade. The dessert me and one of my friend had was completely different to what the menu said and was frozen solid so shop bought. My partner and my other friend had the same dessert which contained hairs in the ice cream. We were not asked if the desserts were okay which meant me shouting across the restaurant to the waitress to get her attention! The manager was very loud and rude. She screamed that it wasn’t hair it was fluff. Regardless there shouldn’t be anything in food. She swore numerous times around the restaurant, taking personal calls whilst serving customers, let her staff walk around eating food! Completely non professional! I would not come back here again unless the management change. Overall 2/5.

4 of us went for carvery at around 15:30. We booked over the phone and once we arrived it took 3 attempts of asking our name to see if we actually had booked. When we went up to get food the server was rather abrupt and paused cutting our meat so she could gulp down half a glass of coke which she shouted at another staff member over in the bar to bring to her. The carvery was ‘ok’. The beef was nice but the gravy was so watery and had no taste. We then all ordered desert. Two toffee lumpy bumpys which did not resemble what the menu said. It looked shop bought and was absolutely rock solid due to being in the freezer, we’re assuming. I got a chocolate fudge cake and again this looked shop bought. I opted for a scoop of ice cream instead of pouring cream. I found a small black curly hair in the ice cream, which put me off the rest of the desert. We told a waitress about the hair, she took the plate over to what we’re assuming was a manager over at the bar to hear her saying ‘well that’s not a hair but offer a new one and apologise’. It was a hair, photo attached! I did not want a replacement so asked for it to be taken off the bill. The staff were not professional in the respect that they all seemed to be just shouting conversations at each other cross the restaurant and the bar. One waitress was wandering round eating an ice lolly. What looked to be the manager, swore loudly in the bar which we all heard say at the back of the restaurant. We went to pay, this manager received a phonecall from her mother, she pulled her phone out, pausing to take our payment for the food and asked another staff member to answer it and just tell her ‘I’m a bit busy’.

Fuming! Just went to Hucknall golf course for Sunday dinner. Showed us to our table that was all sticky and had ants on it. I said, "there's ants on it". Waitress said, "it's the only one we've got". I asked her if she could wipe the table. She was very put out by this. She wiped it half heartedly and left it still sticky. The ants continued to crawl up the legs on to the table. I asked again to move because of the ants and was told that there was no where else we could sit. So I said we didn't want our meals. Woman behind the bar was just like, "ok that's fine, bye". Charged us for our drinks and we left. I understand that ants can't always be helped but surely they should be trying to control the issue. Party of 31 today. Sat down bit late as it was busy and they weren't ready for us. Not too much of a problem but it was after that I had some issues. Some of our party ordered starters. The rest had their carvery. We were still waiting for the starters when they had finished their meal! Starter was not too warm. Now to the carvery. No roast potatoes. When I asked about them was told they had been really busy and they would bring them to us when they were ready. Puddings were either not available or still frozen. As this had been booked in advance surely it should have been catered for. Service and staff not the best. Don't think I would go again!

My last review suggested the Yorkshire puddings were frozen. They certainly aren't now. The carvery is just top quality and the choice is plentiful. A bonus is the staff, just so welcoming and obliging too. What more could anyone ask.

Dropped on this place just by chance while out walking. We were greeted by friendly staff. This is a very beautiful place. I had a lasagna £7.95 excellent value full of meat and very tasty. All was fresh and home made. Very clean and stylish place with very polite staff. I will definitely be back. Its a must visit. Thank you for a lovely meal.

Tried the carvery this last Sunday and was very impressed. Home made soup to start with which was excellent and on special offer at £1. It was my first time here and wont be my last. The staff were also very welcoming. If I had to pick a fault it would be the yorkshire puddings which I believe were frozen, everything else appeared to be fresh cooked.

There are some good restaurants in Hucknall serving foriegn food but for good old english nosh this place is in a league of its own, whether its a breakfast a simple baguette or a belly busting sunday lunch. Ive eaten here several times for lunch midweek and sunday afternoons the food is always fresh and the service welcoming. The choice for Sunday dinner this week included Beef, Chicken, Pork, Duck, Ham Hock a Vegitarian dish and also a normal lunch menu which was helpful for my Kids smaller appetites. We all had something different but all scored it ten out of ten.

had a few douts about this restaurant as reports from 2012 were not good and no recent reveiws for 2013 .but as it was local for my family and 9 of us to cater for i decided to give it a go .so so glad i did it was fabulous nice clean restaurant greeted by smiley staff ,emma the waitress was a credit to the place, nothing was to much trouble for her went out of her way to please ..ordered 9 meals sunday lunch steaks and cod had about 25mns wait but did not mind that as noted it was freshly prepaired, and it all came out togeather wonderful. pet hate is when differant meals are ordered and come out in stages so good start .the food was superb hot and tastety and top marks for the presentation .same with the sweets to die for .well done we will be back and big thank you .it was wonderful x

Clean, contemporary surroundings, friendly staff and fresh food - reasonable prices and plenty of choice. I'd recommend this restaurant, but as the previous reviewer mentions the opening hours are quite limited so lunch might be the best time to go.

The Little Dessert Shop Sutton In Ashfieldlocation-iconForest Street, Sutton in Ashfield EnglandBritish

Just been to little desert shop, to buy my daughter a dessert for her birthday, and the rest of the family, family of 5! my daughter and her sister have coeliacs disease and require a gluten free diet. When asked what desserts they had gluten free was told they don’t do gluten free, do vegetarian and vegan! I am absolutely astonished in 2024 we continue to face dietary requirements for a multitude of diets, some which are lifestyle choices, but gluten free is a no! Sorry but you have lost any future business from me when requiring cake that does contain gluten!!!

We came for food on valentines night and it wasn’t 50 people shoved in for money . Food selection was great with some lovely fresh food . Food was seasoned and cooked well and the wine menu was varied. Would come again

Half Moonlocation-iconHigh StreetBritish

I visited the half moon with a friend on a girls night out. On arrival to the half moon my friend went inside while I finished my cigarette. While waiting a young man was being escorted out of the building to which he then punched the pub window and then a girl. I looked at the doorman and ask if he was going to help her to which was replied 'no it's his girlfriend' I continued to smoke my cigarette to then be approached by another doorman that rubbed both his hands up and down my LV handbag that I was holding!! He then walked away saying 'that's a fake!!' To which I replied 'there is nothing fake about me' he then called me a racist which I found highly offensive and he took a picture of me on his phone?! I am sincerely disgusted in the experience of my 5 minutes outside this 'family' pub. We was finally given plastic cups to carry drinks my friend had gone inside to buy and drank them walking down a road which again I'm not sure is professional or even allowed in the uk law. I have tried to contact the manager of the pub but the contact number on google does not work so hopefully he can see from this review what customers must be experiencing if these ordeals all happened in such a short space of time.
