Never fails to deliver brilliant home cooked food. Visit often but the steak and kidney pie last week was truly outstanding. As a southerner in Yorkshire so few places actually do kidney with most being ale or just steak. It was jam packed with both steak and kidney, all delicious. Soups are something else too. Sandwiches are always fantastic, fresh and full of excellent fillings. A big shout out not only to Lisa but especially the lovely Ellie out front

This little cafe is simply the best place in Tadcaster to sit down and eat. There is plenty of choice to suit everyone's taste. We had a BLT sandwich a sausage sandwich and a bacon and mushroom sandwich and drinks. The sandwiches are large rolls filled to the brim. Lisa and Ellie are great, always friendly and chatty. I recommend you call in,it is nearly always busy so maybe worth a phone call first but well worth a visit .The cakes are delicious too

Popped in for here after taking my toddler swimming across the road and was surprised it seemed to be fully booked. Luckily they managed to fit us in. I was really pleased to see at least 50% of the menu was vegetarian which is probably a coincidence but for us as a vegetarian family it was really refreshing to see and not feel like we were stuck with no choice and just the usual cheese sandwich. All the sandwich options looked really nice, however a bit on the pricey side. The cakes all seem handmade which is what we would expect for a little teahouse and the raspberry scones were especially good and came with clotted cream which again you don't always get elsewhere. It is a lovely little place and despite them having to slot us in between bookings we didn't feel rushed. All the food looked really good and fresh and there were clearly loads of repeat customers so you know it must be nice. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

Met a friend before the high school run; first visit to this little tea room and it was lovely. Greeted warmly and asked if I would like to order a drink whilst I waited. The menu looked varied with some really nice choices. We enjoyed a nice piece of lemon and meringue sponge to cheer us up on a Friday afternoon. The place was clean, friendly and I will definitely return to sample the menu!

I really think when you get great service and food you should tell people about it. So here it goes, from the moment we stepped into the tea rooms, we were greeted with a friendly member of staff, she took us to our seats, helped us with the menu etc. The food came and it was all delicious. I would recommended this over many tea shops I’ve been too and would come back in a heartbeat.

A small cafe, but there are tables both upstairs and downstairs and so it can accommodate more people than you might think. Very friendly, efficient service and nice tea, although I would avoid the coffee - both the americano and the Cappucino were flavourless. By 2.45 in the afternoon, several of the cake and scone options were no longer available so we cannot comment on the food to any great extent. However the cafe was full of pairs and groups of local women, suggesting that it really hits the spot with them. Clean toilets and modern decor, tables and chairs.

I've been using the Tea Lounge for ages (as have other family members) as I live in Tadcaster and pop in when I have time. It is lovely. The staff are great - friendly and efficient - and everything served is freshly made and of high quality. The coffee is good, the soups are fantastic as is the food. The cakes are all home made and gorgeous. At lunchtime (or anytime!) I particularly love the omelettes which are big, fresh and served with delicious side salad. It looks and tastes great. This place is all a small cafe should be. But a word of warning.....it is so popular locally that it can be hard to get a table around lunchtime. Lots of regulars! It was fully booked but luckily they could accommodate us on the sofa seats. The soup, hot chocolate, service and atmosphere were all top quality. The scones looked amazing but we were too full to try them. It's a good excuse to go back though the next time we are in Tadcaster ;)

A hidden gem of a cafe in Tadcaster with great light meals and delicious cakes. Friendly family run cafe with cake recipes which have been passed down over the generations. Meals are well presented and all freshly cooked.

My husband and I called here for breakfast twice whilst on a break staying nearby. I found The Tea Lounge from TripAdvisor and am so glad we went. The place is quaint and beautifully decorated and the food is good. The overall charm-factor though is the staff. The lady running front of house was extremely welcoming and chatty and even remembered us the second time we visited, which was lovely. The place was busy both times and is clearly served by many locals and as most people were on first name terms.I must add also that the cakes looked amazing although we didn't try them. The only one thing I would improve is the quality of the sausages to a more local based produce and if this increased the price slightly it would still be well worth the money. If we return to the area, we will be sure to call back here.

This cafe is always one of the ones we head for when cycling around Tadcaster and yesterday was no different. All the food and especially the cakes are home made and they are simply lovely, the service is of the highest quality, and the little courtyard around the back is really nice on a warm sunny day.

This place sets the standards for other tea rooms. We called in for lunch today, it was our first visit but certainly won't be our last. From the second we walked in to the moment we left we were made to feel like regulars. The service was outstanding, the food was delightful and the price was really reasonable. All in all a really enjoyable lunch.

My family and I love this place, we regularly visit for tasty lunch and amazing cakes! The staff are always so friendly and remember us so we always get lovely warm welcomes! They are so helpful and accommodating for my baby niece, cutting smaller portions of cake. They are so kind to my elderly Gran, chatting with her and boxing up the food she can't manage. We love this place, and lots of other locals do too so to avoid disappointment make sure you book your table!
