We had Afternoon Tea here 3.6.21. Lovely setting. Excellent service and the food was delicious. All homemade. And such good value. £13.75 for a choice of teas, a choice of sandwiches, large scone with cream and jam, lemon posset and a large slice of cake, again with a variety to choose from. Plus a chocolate mint on departure. Very pleased with all aspects. Would recommend.

We went to The Teahouse in the Woods for afternoon tea today. My daughter in law, granddaughter, Hubby and myself. It was very covid safe, social distancing ,masks, table distancing etc. You had a choice of sandwich, good fillings, scone, jam and cream, lemon possit, choice of cake and drinks. Good size portions and very tasty. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. A very enjoyable time and it was lovely to be eating inside again. This was our first visit today, car parking is a bit haphazard, park where you can along the muddy verge.Plenty outside seating however we sat inside, didn’t have to prebook. Spacious interior, speedy service. Great for afternoon teas and cream teas but they also have a good menu which includes hot meals. We paid £6.50 each for a cream tea. Quality good size, rustic scone (choice of plain or fruited). Very nice, couldn’t fault it. Will definitely return, I can imagine this place can get busy due to its scenic woodland setting.

On a recent stay in the area, we visited the Tea House in the Woods twice. Both times we had to sit outside as we had our dog with us, but I understand that this is only because of the current restrictions. On both occasions, we found the staff to be so polite and friendly, qualities that are not as common as they should be nowadays. It was lovely to see measures in place but implemented in a friendly and helpful manner rather than overbearing which we have experienced on other parts of our visit to Lincolnshire. We had a simple light lunch and scone but it was well presented and very tasty with attention to detail such as the warm scone. It makes all the difference. There were plenty of staff, with the person escorting us to the table, helping to reassure us they were taking the measures seriously. They were friendly and attentive without being overbearing or condescending. It is a very fine balance which the Tea House exceeded expectations, with flying colours. We will definitely be returning when we are back in Lincolnshire again.

Saturday evening meal, pre-cinema. Staff made you feel safe on arrival and service was prompt. Prices are ok as portions a good size and tasty. And whilst I can’t criticise the food or staff, and left a healthy tip to reflect it, I find the rigid inflexibility really quite ridiculous. For example, my mother wanted the steak pie. It stated “with mash”. If she eats mash, she’s sick. She simply can’t stand the texture. So I asked if she could have any other sort of potato. The answer was “only if you pay extra”. Do they offered a side dish of nee potatoes but the pie would still come with mash - which on her plate would put her off the whole meal. So she took the salmon instead. Her dish snd mine came with a plate of vegetables (including nee potatoes). Maybe all the dishes are pre-plated and microwaved, but seriously guys in this environment where everyone is desperate for business, can you really and honestly tell me swapping mash for other potatoes is impossible?!You’d have got 5 stars if only you had.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

It grieves me to write this review as I have patronised the Tea House on a very regular over many years for coffee, lunch, evening meals and everything inbetween, and have always highly recommended it on the basis that there was nothing to beat it in Woodhall Spa and a much wider area However, since re-opening after Covid it does not offer the same quality, quantity or value for money as previously. In order to justify this report I have had several meals and refreshments since the re-opening with Covid restrictions were permitted several weeks ago, and can honestly say that something is amiss. This appraisal has also been borne out by friends who frequently has meals both pre and post Covid. If it wasn't the Tea House many of the offerings may have been acceptable - but it is almost as though there has been a major change of chef(s) and catering staff, which isn't the case. Portion size and presentation seems to have been pared back and prices increased - it just isn't the same value. Additionally there is a stated inflexibility with meals, for example, - if it says it comes with peas, it comes with peas, and cannot be substituted for beans. The front of house staff are still well trained, welcoming and a credit to the establishment - a credit I think to Natalie. The problem seems go be with the portion allocation mandated for the chef and kitchen staff. A recent example was the Lincolnshire Meat Ploughman's which I had recently; priced at £10, the very small slices of haslet and ham were so wafer thin that you could almost have read a book though them, and the piece of pork pie was half the size of a 50p pork pie from a supermarket. Coupled with a miserable slice of bread and butter it was a pathetic offering. Not all customers are of an age and appetite that they require a 'doggy bag' for a lettuce leaf and half a scone. The Tea House has a very loyal clientele, both local and visitors, generated by a previous business ethos that offered exemplary service and value for money - but 'every dog has it's day' and complacency must not be allowed to creep in. Continuance of standards and product offerings must remain value for money, if not competition will always be ready to step in. Whilst on the subject of improvements, and one which can be easily remedied, is the background music. Always too loud and making conservation difficult. It should always be muted, a background murmur. I think the CD 's are ones that the younger members of staff bring in - just the wrong type. Please lower the volume - we don't need wailing/rap type music. If I did'nt like the Tea House I wouldn't have written this review - but it has been a gem in the area, and I want it to remain so. The cleanliness of the premises is commendable - I have not been to any other that can compare.

The place was immaculate and once a table was empty the staff quickly cleaned the table and sanitised the whole table and all the chairs which left you feeling safe and well looked after. We managed to get a table very quickly and placed our order after much discussion of what to have - we went for the ploughman’s which was lovely and had a good selection on it - the only criticism I will give it was that oh a ploughman’s you usually get think chunky bread to enjoy it with and all that was given was a slice of normal bread which let it down a bit..Tables were all distanced as should be and all staff were wearing masks / face shields which was good to see!

Came here with my mum, daughter and autistic brother whilst having a break away in the area. The gentleman that served us was really patient and helpful with my brother as he can get very flustered when making decisions for himself and changes his mind often! I was really looking forward to the afternoon tea but was told one of the items that it comes with (lemon posset) was not suitable for vegetarians and that they would not substitute it for anything else, although I'm not sure why as they sell plenty of other items and said everything is made to order, so was slightly dissapointed that they couldn't be more flexible to vegetarians, when a lot of places would just swap for something else to ensure all diets are catered for. My mum still chose it for herself, it looked lovely and she said it was all tasty especially the Victoria sponge cake. I had a toasted ciabatta with chips and it was actually really nice, chips were lovely and crisp (although a little tight on the portion size for £8). Kids both got sandwiches, again very small portion but at £2.50 can't really complain about it. They chose banoffee pie for dessert and it looked amazing, wish I'd of got myself one! Overall probably wouldn't come back as portion sizes on the small side and not enough flexibility for other diets.

We visited on Sunday 23rd February with friendly staff until we mentioned we was Vegan. The waitress said normally people with dietary requirements call before hand as they only offered a vegan crumble and they didn’t have any other vegan foods available. They wouldn’t even make beans on toast for us or a jacket potato. I asked if we had called before would they have offered anything other than a Vegan crumble to eat and she said “no, we don’t have much of your type around here”! With that we left and found Janet’s tea rooms in the high street, who was very accommodating to us. The equilibrium of bad/good had been restored. Janet’s tea rooms offered us a variety of foods and made us feel very welcome.

Myself and 2 friends had coffee and sandwiches here before going to the nearby Kinema. I had booked which was the best thing to do as I don’t think we would been able to get in. As usual the experience at the tea house is wonderful, the food is great, the staff are wonderful, always polite and attentive. Once again a great eatery.

Me and my family came here a few weeks into 2020 to kill off some Christmas blues for the Sunday roast and we weren't disappointed. We decided to pass on starters as we noticed the waiters were carrying rather large platefuls. I had pork with veg and I paid 25p extra for a large Yorkshire pudding which was beautiful. Overall the pork was lovely with the veg and a good size portion. The dessert I had was sticky toffee pudding which I decided to have with ice cream and it was lovely. Overall very good, lovely staff and lovely surroundings.

We had reserved a table for afternoon tea and were pleased that we had, as even at 1.30pm on a weekday the venue was very full. The Tea House does not have a very pre-possessing exterior as it rather looks like a converted bungalow (I must search for the history!) but inside it was a completely different story. Warm and welcoming with a pleasant background buzz of muted conversations we were firstly shown the array of cakes that would be on offer as part of the afternoon tea package and then shown to our table which was clean and tidy and well-laid out. A waitress came to take our order very promptly and our afternoon tea was also delivered promptly. The food was very fresh and tasty with just the right mix of savoury and sweet: the fruit scones in particular were excellent. The interior was well lit and clean and the tables were far enough apart that you did not feel you were intruding on other diners but close enough that you did not feel as if you were in an isolated island. The staff were all polite, smiling, friendly and professional, the food was great and it was extremely well priced. We will be back to try the lunch main courses!

Visited before Christmas, chose their festive menu. Had to settle for two courses, too full for a dessert. Service was efficient and friendly and an error with the bill was quickly rectified. Lovely decorations. We’ll definitely be visiting again!

This is not the first time we have been here, but always before in the height of summer when sitting outside is really nice. But now, with a blazing fire and comfortable surroundings it is just as good inside. So many staff who all know what they are doing makes this a welcome experience. Most tastes are catered for and even a request for some variation of the menu can be met; like bacon and cheese melt instead of tuna and cheese. Perhaps bacon and cheese should occupy a permanent place on the menu (management to consider).

Booked a table on a Saturday early evening prior to going next door to watch a film. The restaurant was nearly full when we arrived - we were shown straight to our table and within 20 mins we had our starters. Both the food and service were second to none. Plenty of staff who managed in an unobtrusive way to walk around ensuring that tables were cleared and courses brought out so that no one was kept waiting for the food. The food was cooked to perfection and the cheeseboard was big enough for us to share.

A friend and I dropped by at 1pm and were lucky enough to be found a table. Although full of diners the staff were quick to attend us and after ordering the food did not take too long to arrive. I loved the selection of vegetables all perfectly cooked (hate then soggy and limp!) which accompanied the venison sausages with braised red cabbage. My friend had the salmon and crayfish penne pasta which looked and tasted divine! Our only complaint was we were so full that we couldn't manage a dessert. . . . next time! A special word about the staff - all who waited on us were young but very friendly and attentive. We both remarked on the excellent service.

A lovely venue for a meal at anytime, but after a visit to the 'Kinema in the Woods' it was a wonderful end to a great afternoon, the staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere was so calm and relaxing, our food was of the highest quality and came quickly, was beautifully presented and was hot. All in all a excellent experience.

Having enjoyed a delicious open, generous prawn sandwich outside in the summer, we decided to visit for an evening meal following a cinema visit. We were welcomed by friendly staff, served a drink and after a short wait, taken to our table. I chose the braised blade of beef and my husband the steak and stilton pie. Our huge plates arrived with enormous portions of food. Sadly, it was all downhill from there. The blade of beef hadn't been braised long enough, leaving thick gelatinous streaks of fat through it. Other than the edges, the meat was dry and leathery. The mash was dry and lacking in flavour, root veg undercooked, harder than al dente. All the veg tasted bland. Baby onions tasted like they had been pickled? The Guinness gravy had a bitter after taste. My husbands pie was quite small with half inch thick pastry and he could not taste the stilton. What could have been a great meal with a few tweaks and the addition of some longer cooking, seasoning, a little butter or cream in the mash and simple gravy was very disappointing. Sadly, most of my dinner remained on the plate.
