The Talbot Inn The Talbot is an excellent traditional pub just off the A1. There was a very warm and friendly welcome in the pub from John and his team, and the regulars. This is a real gem of a local pub, popular and busy. We ate a tasty evening meal in the pub - there is a theme each night eg pizza, grill, pie, in addition to the menu. The food is excellent value for really good quality. We had such a good time we returned the next night. We are sure we will return. Enjoyed watching the darts with the locals.

Turned up 10 mins before the kitchen was closing in the evening, but Olivia behind the bar kindly took our order and brought our food to our table what seemed like only a moment! We ate Gammon,egg and chips,served with the freshest ingredients and accompanied with tasty garden peas. Lovely homely pub atmosphere, just the right balance and we drank a refreshing pint with dinner. The chef had cooked and presented the dish on warmed plated as if it was his first serving of the day! Over all a splendid occasion that saved our weary souls after a long day of travelling. Thank you all for the friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Great stop over in motorhome stayed in car park for one night no charge as long has you eat or have a few drinks very friendly and great service food was lovely

Really good price for the quality of food. Traditional pub food. Wine is good and reasonable price. Staff are fantastic. Only annoyance is the little sauce satchets. All in all good value for money and good quality. Last went on Tuesday Pizza night

Good old fashioned pub with good old fashioned food (sausage and mash for me). Reasonably priced with a nice beer garden and on site parking (limited spaces). Very friendly lady behind the bar. All in all a good experience

Always a great place to have a cold beer with family & friends and enjoy the classic food that's always value for money too. Landlord & staff always welcome you, whether you were there yesterday or a few weeks ago. Love it !

We decided to break up the journey from our London Trip at this great free campervan stopover. The Talbot Inn is another great pub with a large beer garden and friendly staff! Our steak and Guinness pie with gravy and loads of veg was spot on! 😋 It's been really interesting learning about the long history surrounding the name of Stilton and it's cheese connection - it needs Googling!! 🙂 Also, the village is on the old North Road!! UPDATE Just revisited again and enjoyed another fantastic meal again! BTW Olivia is a wonderful member of staff and made our evening so much more special! Thank you again Nigel & Claire 😊

Stopped over on the way to London in the Motorhome. This is a fantastic little pub, friendly staff, great food and they even had a space coned off in the car park for us. Very peaceful night in the van. If only there were more places like this. We'll definitely come again. Thanks.

Meals not cooked very well, i e.. eggs burnt underneath..pasta not cooked enough ..mince same..very noisy..won't go again..prices standard. No parking. Toilet facilities need updating..disappointed. information..chef was advertised for at that time so WHO cooked the meals....

Very popular and well run pub located in the heart of the village.

We went on a Thursday lunch time so was a liitle quiet but that does not detract from the great service and fab food. Portion sizes are very good, menu choice was fantastic for starters, mains and desserts. All cooked fresh and very hot and tasty. Good choice of beers, wines, gins etc and although we didn't indulge they do liquor coffees. Definately going back to try the Sunday lunch and do some brilliant Weekday offers, see photos. All in all, excellent food, lovely setting in a nice quiet town. Give it a try, we'll worth the money.

Friday night - absolutely rammed!! And we still found a table and our meal was hot and fresh.

Friendly, helpful staff, good food, good value. we went for a family meet up and couldn't fault the service and courtesy of the staff, the food was all ready for us at the time we agreed and was delicious, and the marquee in the back was fun and accommodating for dogs and kids. Would definitely recommend!

This is a good motorhome pub stop over. Car park is used for sleepover and so long as you eat there then there is no extra charge for parking. Food was good pub grub and reasonably priced. Rump steak and chips was £11.95. Very tasty!

We went out to celebrate my nephews new job. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a local pub opened. When we remembered the Talbot. We also had dessert, which we enjoyed very much. We look forward to returning again. 😁 👍

the food appeared to be ok, although we did notice an odour of stale oil from the kitchen area. Since arriving home have all felt sick. Coincidence - maybe, but 3 out of 3 of us and all eating different dishes? perhaps more than coincidence

Brilliant place, very friendly and efficient. Held a function for my family recently and we had a very nice time. Good food, plenty of it, all as promised by John and team. Excellent all round. Covid friendly. There is a large outdoor covered area as well as an open garden and decent car park.

We stopped here on our trip up the A1 as an alternative to stopping at services. Parking located to the right if facing the pub, but also plenty of on street parking. Pub has a well organised Covid safe procedures - ensuring people are signing in, one way system etc. Food was nice and can't really fault it - not the best we have ever had, but nice..! Felt that kids meals were a bit pricey at £5.50 each, they do a kids meal deal with drink and desert which saves you about a pound. Staff were friendly and nice. The time we was in, there was a bit of 'bother' from what I assume is a local, but the situation was well handled by the chap behind the bar. Unfortunately the language by the chap causing the bother did somewhat overshadow the experience as it took some explaining to my kids that he was being a bit naughty. Service at times was a little slow, we was in there for over 2 hours, and the kids did get quite restless in the 30/40 mins waiting for ice cream....!! If your going for drinks the pub has a large area at the back with marquee so plenty of space.

Enjoyed a first class meal with family celebrating my husbands retirement. Food is always of a very high standard at an affordable price. Great atmosphere, always made to feel very welcome. Definitely recommend a visit.

While in lockdown again have ordered 2 meals delivered by John tonight, almost as enjoyable as eating in the Talbot, wouldn't hesitate to order again, varied menu, tasty and hot, thankyou

Stayed overnight here recently in my motorhome. Landlord John and his team were brilliant, and the food was excellent. I had the steak and Guinness pie, served with chips and 3 veg. With an excellent white Rioja wine to accompany it, what could be better. Highly recommended, and will hopefully call again.

Has been open for takeaways through lock down and is as good now as it was when pubs were open as normal. Can’t wait for it to reopen but will keep getting takeaways for now 😁

We ate here on the off chance as we were staying nearby and we were not disappointed. It was steak night so there was an excellent T-bone steak bargain. Selection of beers good as were the gins. Service very friendly and overall great value. Will definitely return when in the area.
