It was good to see the pub had reopened as we had not visited for quite a long time. The food was very good, I just failed to give it 5 stars as I left the batter from my fish as it was undercooked/soggy. When I mentioned it to the young waitress her reply was simply, “I’ll let them know”.

Started so well a lovely gentleman barman met us at the door whisked us round to the bar, fetched a dog bowl a blanket with no request he was really lovely chatty and helpful we stayed for another couple of drinks then sadly it went down hill I went to the waitress to ask if she could order me a taxi home to be told they don’t do that so I asked for any numbers as I am on holiday so not local she game me a number of a taxi firm that was already closed! She then said to me if I was staying at the hotel she could have booked for me which made me 100% feel that eating & drinking wasn’t enough to warrant a phone call which is outright insulting! So sadly although we looked through the lovely menus while enjoying drinks to come back tomorrow we won’t be and certainly won’t EVER be staying at the hotel! Sad when one staff member misses the customer service class and can ruin such a lovely couple of hours. Obviously I wouldn’t recommend to anyone at all!

Came here recently with my family , lovely place , staff are excellent couldn’t fault them , one of the servers didn’t get her name was brilliant with my little ones asking constant questions, price is fine for the quality of food you get , however the portions need looking at , had the trio of meats (Sunday roast) and barely anything thing on it , smallest amount of red cabbage and two roast potatoes, and half a carrot! Other than that food was excellent.

My husband and I along with 2 friends went last night for the winter warmer menu offer, 3 courses for £15 which sounds good value for money, but oh my goodness the portions were so small, even a child’s menu would offer more. As we were celebrating our anniversary I didn’t complain at the time. Today I’ve messaged on Facebook and asked where on the menu it says smaller portions, I was shocked at their response which was what do you expect ? Such a rude response and then they deleted my comments and blocked me. Horrendous customer service. Don’t bother spending your money there. We all left still feeling hungry after 3 courses

The food was some of the worst I have had in a long time - 8 of us in the party and not one of us had a good meal. In various dishes that we had the nacho was swimming in watered down guacamole and cold - the lamb hotpot was overcooked and far too salty the red cabbage had too much vinegar ..... the steak was like concrete and the sausage were burnt the staff in the main were inattentive and not interested. Will not recommend and will not revisit any time soon.

Awful food and service. With messed up food and orders we ended up eating courses at different times to each other. I have never seen such poor quality fish and chips, it was under cooked, wet and slimy. I sent it back as it was inedible. I should have been suspicious of the second attempt when the waiter said - it'll be a 5 min wait. The second fish and chips was the same. The person, who appears to be in charge came over and told me the fish was cooked, he told me the name of the fish and it should be like this. He declined to taste it though. He told me cod would be too expensive so they used this fish otherwise they would have to charge us a lot of money. They were charging £17 for this rubbish though. I suspect the fish is very cheap, and was cooked from frozen so although the batter was cooked and the right temperature achieved, the texture was like wet scrambled egg. To be fair I was offered another dish, I opted for the meat this time. By the time my meal arrived my family had finished their meals. Then there was a mix up with desserts. They brought the wrong dish and almost insisted we had it wrong. However, my son knew he ordered the banoffee waffle not the honeycomb cheesecake so we didn't accept it. We overheard the man in charge tell the waiters that he'd changed the computer ordering system for the mothers day menu so it didn't correspond to today's menu. Why, do that in the middle of the lunch orders. So again one of us had their dessert after the others finished their course. Tal y Cafn is off our dining list - we keep a log of everywhere we go!

The food was great but the service was awful Firstly, the staff's attentiveness was severely lacking throughout our meal. We had to repeatedly flag down servers to attend to our needs, including requesting the bill. It was frustrating to have to leave our table multiple times simply to get the attention of your staff. Furthermore, the inattentiveness of the staff extended beyond mere neglect; we observed them engaging in personal conversations, which were not only unprofessional but also disruptive to our dining experience. Specifically, we overheard discussions about milking cows, accompanied by graphic descriptions of bodily functions, including "pooing" and "pissing." Such topics are wholly inappropriate and off-putting for customers trying to enjoy their meals. Additionally, when our food was served, there was a lack of consideration for our preferences and needs. The staff failed to inquire if we required any additional condiments or if there was anything else they could assist us with, demonstrating a disregard for customer satisfaction and basic courtesy. Moreover, when we raised the issue of poor and slow service at the end of our meal, the staff member who inquired about our experience did not offer an apology. Instead, they simply responded with "okay" and walked away, without offering any remedy or addressing our concerns. As customers, we expect a certain level of professionalism and attentiveness when dining out, which unfortunately was sorely lacking during our visit to your establishment. It is disheartening to have such a negative experience, especially considering the reputation your restaurant presumably upholds.

I used to love this place. When first refurbished used to have a lovely Sunday dinner here. I Had a burger, my daughter had a 3 cheese sandwich. Bread was stale, 3 cheese didn’t stipulate it had Brie in but came with Brie which is not pleasant in a cold sandwich. The burger was ok… the actual patties were well cooked but too much sauce. It saturated the whole thing. Kids chicken was ok. Pint of Madri tasted off. The computer went down when we came to pay which meant they had to take the payment manually…adding the items and decided to give us the drinks free as couldn’t get the price list for them….as I was about to pay the system was back up and those “free” drinks were quickly added back onto the bill. Didn’t like that.

City centre prices & mediocre food! Went for a Sunday lunch after having been out walking in the area. The restaurant was cold and the huge log burner fire wasn’t lit. We were sat next to other couples despite the restaurant being fairly empty so plenty of other tables to choose from. The prices are high for what you get, there was no beef so we went for turkey which felt processed (albeit plenty of it), the roasties seemed like frozen ones and the veg was simple and sparse. To top it off we were charged over £6 for a pint (£6.50 for a shandy!). The service was ok but on the whole the bill came to £84.90 for 2x two course roast dinners with two drinks each so the meal was definitely overpriced for the standard of food. We won’t be going back and definitely would not recommend.

We stayed in the Snowdon Suite which was absolutely perfect for our family of 3 and our dog. The suite has its own kitchen which is well equipped with good quality appliances and all the kitchen equipment you could possibly need. The bathroom is beautiful with a lovely big bath and separate shower cubicle. The bed was super comfortable with quality cotton bed linen and plenty of pillows, we took a camp bed for our son and there was plenty of space for this in the bedroom with us meaning that we didn’t need to use the sofa bed and could keep this as a sofa. We loved the hot tub and huge balcony and the view of the hills is stunning. This area would be amazing in the warmer months. We had a number of meals in the pub, the food was great quality we cannot fault it. TYC chicken was a firm favourite for me. But everything we tried was great. All the staff were fabulous, attentive and polite and made sure we were well looked after. We’ll definitely be back for another visit in the future.

We spent the half term here with the kids. I wouldn’t recommend the family room if you are a family of 4. Simply , there’s no space, at all. The sofa bed (the mattress) was extremely uncomfortable for the kids. The breakfast portion is pretty small and even we were ready to order and obviously pay for extra no one ever bothered to ask if all was good/enough/etc… They were always busy with restaurant guests - fair enough, happy for them they are busy , but I would suggest to try to make their room guests a bit more welcomed. Because we didn’t really feel, unfortunately…. And yes, you can hear the restaurant and the music in the room.

They brought her a bowl of water, some treats and a big fluffy blanket to lie on while apologising that there might be a wait as it was a busy evening. The 'wait' was literally about 15 minutes and the food was delicious. The venue also looked to be very clean and well cared for and smelt fresh too which I know can be a worry for people when considering dog friendly locations. I live about an hour away but I would absolutely make the journey to come back for a treat.

Fantastic to see this great venue open again under new ownership (yet alone Covid-19)! Rating for atmosphere a little skewed because of Covid-19 outdoor dining regulations. Curried cauliflower fritters starters were really nice (ultra pernickety point - perhaps too much flour coating under the batter because this spilled out onto the plate when the fritter was cut open and hadn't been absorbed into the spicy batter - didn't spoil the great taste though). Main course of pork belly stir-fry was also delicious but needed a side of chips (which were very nice too) to bulk it out a little for hungry diners. Cheese course was okay but would have preferred a full-bodied cheddar, felt it was a little too mild. Great choice of drinks and will definitely be back.

We arrived at 12:55 having made a telephone booking a few minutes beforehand. The lady who welcomed us couldn’t find our booking on their system but sat us down anyway. We looked at the menus and placed our order. By 1:50pm we had had no food. We asked a male waiter for the bill so we could go as we’d been there nearly an hour. He said ‘an hour?’ as if he disbelieved us. He said your food is coming now, I’ll go and check. He came back and said the food would be another five minutes. We were unable to wait any longer. I pointed out a couple who came in 15-20 mins after us had had their food 10 mins before we asked to leave. He said it was what I had ordered. Apparently a cheese and onion pie takes 20 mins to cook. I said ok, but we have been here nearly an hour. He said yes but there was a 30 min wait when you arrived. How on earth would we know that if no one told us? Basically, the bloke had an answer for everything. When really the only thing he had to say was I am really sorry for your wait. All he wanted to do was argue though. He said he would take care of the drinks tab (two cokes). We then left. Would never, ever go back or recommend.

The Til-y-Cafn elevates pub-grub to another level and is, quite simply is the best pub food in the county, and possibly in North Wales. It's a big claim, but having eaten at all the so-called 'better' establishments, it's our opinion. The ambiance is very pleasant, service excellent and the food superb. And, deep joy, decent beer. As you say there are a few teething problems, one being the potential lack of staff for the amount of people eating. The Pinot was out of stock (no biggy) and our main was brought out with a empty cup were the fries should of been. Our waitress seemed to have a meltdown. We order another round of drinks which when came to delivery was complete wrong and after that we didn’t see our waitress, except for her getting her coat and sitting having a drink! We asked for the bill and we had been added 3 drinks we hadn’t order which made the bill another £14 more expensive. I hope these teething problems can be sorted as it’s a lovely place to have a drink and a meal and I hope the waitress is feeling better

We were a party of 4. On arrival we did the usual protections stuff, and then shown to our table. When ordering our drinks, one of the party could not have the cocktail he's like as it was not on the list. Which seems to go against what the statement says!! Also told there was no bottle coke only that dread full gun rubbish. My wife's drink was sent back as to be honest awful. The waitress who took it back asked if we would like bottled coke !!!! We said yes please and there it was. However that apart the place was busy and our meals came along in decent time. We all enjoyed what we had, I must say the Cheese & Onion Pie was sensational as was the Belly Pork. We did a little tasting of each of our dishes. Fish & Chips excellent as where the chicken dish my Son in Law had. With drinks and wine and a main each plus grats worked out at £25.00 pp The surroundings are very pleasant, nice ambience and staff seemed happy and very willing to help. We all felt the wall mirrors were not needed, as I don't want to watch myself or anyone else eat. But a nice evening and bar for the drinks mentioned it would have been 5/5.

On holiday in the area and went to this pub/ restaurant for dinner. On arrival, before being seated, we were asked if we suffered from any allergies or intolerances. I explained I had a gluten intolerance, not allergy. At this point, we were told that they would not serve anyone with a allergy or intolerance. I explained that I was happy to choose what I could / could not eat from the menu. I was told no I could not have a table. I was however asked if I would like to have a drink - where I’m sure I could have had a gluten filled beer without any issue. If a pub / restaurant refused service of any other group of individuals I’m sure they would take it a lot more seriously. Incredibly insensitive and ridiculous.

First impressions were that food was a bit pricey. However, on our first visit we had a burger and found it to be very very nice and good value. Staff were nothing short of excellent and beer was well above average.Second visit was much the same.Third visit was our last because the maitre D was a different chap and was simply awful. Without going into too much detail...we had the dog with us and he said we could have a table in the walkway or not at all. Dog would never settle in a busy area so we were prepared to go elsewhere. In the end we (not he) worked out that we could easily sit in the snug and be out of the way of footfall and everyone would be happy. It wasn’t that he didn’t want us there...it was more that he wouldn’t or couldn’t find a solution that would suit everyone. I honestly thought that was his job. Wrong guy in the wrong job.We ended up staying and having a good meal. Important to note....other than the one awkward chap ....the staff were absolutely fantastic.

Visited 1 afternoon when the place was very quiet. I ordered a chicken and avocado sandwich.... was quite nice but extra bowl of chips undercooked. It should have been obvious when serving them. I didn't say anything as I couldn't find anyone.

We ordered the roast pork dinners for two, firstly the waiter only managed to bring one dinner out, with very small portion of veg between two. So upon receiving the second dinner we asked for another portion of veg which took ten minutes to recieve. The meat was processed and tasteless as well as being dry as a bone. The roast potatoes(3 only) we're very hard and no gravy, the stuffing was minimal, and even the glasses of water tasted foul. Overall very poor for £28!

There's not a lot going on in Tal-y-Cafn but this place is a ray of light! We moved nearby this year and have been on the look out for good places to eat. The Tal-y-Cafn has been closed for an update recently and we were worried that they would try to fix what wasn't broken. Happily I can report that it is still great. Its staff, decor, dog-friendliness and easy parking were all assets alongside the good food.

On a rainy day we found the Tal Y Cafn and were overjoyed when we they said we could take the dog is as it is a super smart restaurant. It was lunch time so we just had sandwiches and my bacon and brie was the best bacon I've ever had. If I lived nearer I would be happy to go back for special dinners or informal lunches.

I have been wanting to try this place for a while, especially since the change. On first impressions, the place looked very smart but without going over the top. We sat in a comfortable booth with plenty of room. I had the homemade soup of sweet potato, apple and ginger and it was divine. Michelin star restaurant was mentioned by a previous reviewer, and I can see why. I had a super tasty panini and my husband had what he described as the best fish finger butty ever. The other food that was being brought to tables looked very appealing as well. They have a very nice bar area and plenty of outside seating. The toilets were very clean and very nicely decorated in an industrial style. We would definitely recommend to other people and we would like to try the bar and stay for dinner next time. If the Tal-y-Cafn is consistent, it should do very well.

We stumbled on this restaurant when on holiday last week. The first meal was exceptional, so good we went back on two more occasions even though there are other good restaurants in the area. The lamb shank melted in the mouth and was accompanied by a well chosen vegetables. Similarly, the hake was sumptuous, my husband declaring it was the best fish he had ever had. The price for such quality which was very close to Michelin star at about £16 per head was amazing, in London it would be over £50. We very much enjoyed our two other visits and would heartily recommend this restaurant. Btw, the service was friendly and good.

Visited today for late lunch, fantastic Decor and great outdoor area, out starters were garlic bread with cheese and breads and olives which you can’t go wrong with , for main I had the pie which was thick dough pastry and some uncooked chips , my husband meal of hunters chicken rather overpriced for what you got nearly landed on his lap by a waitress who looked like she was recovering from the night before and chips-landed on his lap, she did go and get some more while he picked the remains off the floor, you don’t get offered and sauce or mayo, we did complain to who seemed to be front of house and got a measly Sorry and wasn’t bothered , unfortunately won’t be visiting again soon .
