Staying for two nights over New Year. Had a blast last night. Made to feel like a local. Room is nice and clean. Breakfast was great.

Stayed over at The Swan in December. Car park entrance could be better explained on the website. You have to enter car park from Accrington Road and not from the main hotel Entrance on King Street. This is a pub in an old building, so expect it to be a little tired in places. Room was a decent size and bed was comfortable. I couldn't find a way to increase the heating, so could have been a little warmer. I ate evening meal in the bar area which was fine. My main concern was that the fire door on the landing was permanently propped open, day and night. It had not just been propped open for a few minutes for cleaning, but was propped open throughout my stay. This is especially concerning as there was a sign saying there are no staff on duty during the night. I do not like to mark a place down but feel that such serious failings need highlighting.

Been here many times...Boxing day bash with family and spent most of the afternoon in the pub! Staff and service great....toilets we all said were dirty...gents disgusting all afternoon! Sort it out owners please!

We often go to this bar because we live nearby. Nice place, friendly staff. Sometimes pub quiz or karaoke evenings are held. Good selection of drinks.

Terrible. Waitress said too busy and we would have to wait, there was only one family eating.. we finished our drinks and left. The waitress and chef were stood outside laughing. We saw 2 families walk out this business will not stay open very long.

Sticky floors and tables, not that clean. Not great selection of coffees and no milk alternatives. Glasses weren’t cleaned and found something black floating in my drink. Pretty disappointing so we decided not to eat there. Door in women’s toilet made an awful noise when opened and closed, could do with some WD40. Staff weren’t the nicest and seemed like they didn’t want to be there. Table was wobbly and the menus were dirty. Dog friendly though.

This place is absolutely amazing such a beautiful hotel. Food is incredible big portions and very hot it’s all home cooked not pre packed. I would definitely recommend and we definitely be coming back

The whole place and the service was good. Only issue was the gents toilet it was dirty and in a desperate need of refurbishment. The urinals are rusty and smelly. It's a shame I had to put a negative comment because the rest is very good

Just had the triple Sunday Roast, what can I say, the portions are enormous, a lovely waitress who had a great smile, service was very quick, food was delicious only complaint we had was that because the Roast dinner was generous none of us could face a dessert, have no hesitation recommending this place, we will be back next time we visit whalley.

Popped into here after visiting the crafty market and I can say that I doubt we would return. The Sunday lunch was tasteless, the meat looked dry and it was, the potatoes tasted of nothing, and if it wasn’t the gravy we would left it as that made the plate edible

We arrived (staying 2 nights). Had some lunch on arrival carling line had clearly not been cleaned or used. No room cleaning or house keeping. Had to go and buy toilet roll before returning after 1 night. On our last night the staff were lovely and the food was too. But keep some antihistamines in your bag as all bedding is feathers.

Ordered on app and for some reason drinks don't get sent to the till even though you have paid for them so food came before drinks. Next the mashed buttery potato was likely cement literally...... Wouldn't recommend lets hope the Eaton mess is better ..... So we ordered eaton messwhich states topped with cream. If I wanted ice cream and strawberries I would have asked for just that. Was told it was basically our fault for ordering off the app and not at the bar as they ran out of cream wtffffff........ And was told it's not her problem. No wonder she's cross eyed probably been punched in the past for the way she speaks to customers... Hahaha now been thrown out for complaining... What a bunch of amateurs ...... Shouldn't have insulted us about ordering and then giving me clay for mash and sort you attitudes out. Guess you won't be in a job much longer after this episode. Straight onto head office...... Following on from your reply..... So it was ok for your chef to insult us and say it was OUR FAULT for not ordering at the bar.... And it wasn't her problem ... You failed to mention that.... And yes because we had had the issue with the drinks and the attitude there again was when asked why it doesn't go through was "It just doesn't" we didn't want to make a fuss. As your CCTV will show I left half the food and all the mash. Also what about the Eaton mess.. ??? I've read some of your other reviews about the place going down and best to be avoided. Wish we had read the reviews before we came .... . As for wanting to come back that was never our intention ..... Would rather eat from a 1 star kebab takeaway lol ..

Got a lot of food for the price, me and my woman got a share plate, about 15 quid and we couldn't finish it, tasted good. Great staff, very polite, definitely would recommend. The area around is beautiful, if you enjoy walking, try an app called alltrails, there's a few walks that end in the area. If you like history, there's an abbey down the road from the 12th century.

We visited the swan over the Easter weekend and found the staff lovely. We were here with family and had a few drinks and we all ate. We found the food lovely and the staff were pleasant and friendly. They were very busy when we arrived however they explained to us that tables were reserved but we were able to sit at them until the other people arrived. We had 4 adult meals and 2 children's meals and they were delicious, the children loved the ice cream sundaes and we really enjoyed our food, we had burgers and sausage and mash. we will definitely be visiting again when we are next in the area.

The worst Sunday roast ever, beef was like boil in the bag, I gave it the dog. The mash was difficult to swallow it was so dry/dense , I think it was a few days old. Even the 10 ml of Gravy couldn’t make it bearable, carrots boiled to oblivion as was the 1 strand of broccoli I got. Roasties we’re ok. If you like a Sunday roast availed this place you will be so disappointed. The person I was with got pesto spaghetti with pine nuts, there wasn’t a pine nut in site.

Excellent room we had the Pendle Suite .. spotlessly clean and very comfortable bed .. the breakfast was exceptional everything you can think of for a proper cooked breakfast .. will be going back again this year ..

Called in for a quick bite at lunchtime. Didn’t want much so we just shared a few starters which were absolutely awful. The terrine was ok but the mushrooms and especially the chicken skewers were poor quality and poorly prepared. We should have sent them back tbh but didn’t want a fuss. The staff are nice which the 2 stars are for but the food was as grim as I’ve ever had!

Lovely friendly staff... nice atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon. Great with kids too including dogs. Holdens ice cream next door too for a treat for the kids.

Avoid at all costs. Pre covid this was a decent place. Gone downhill faster than a lemming! Filthy place, the owners should be ashamed!

No cask ale on staff did not seem bothered, tried the neck oil and it was awful not in the condition it should be. On the positive side my wife enjoyed her coffee

Visited this pub/hotel last Saturday and was very unimpressed, the owner “Sharon” could not stop swearing, when I approached her to ask if she would not mind keeping the bad language quiet I was amazed with the foul mouthed rant that followed offended wasn’t enough of a discription. Beer was flat, food tasteless, toilets were filthy with clear evidence of cocaine use. Best advice is avoid at all costs.

Having used to work in Whalley I'm pretty familiar with the Swan. We went in Friday lunch time about 1:15. 4 ladies in. What beers have you on please, asked I. Got told the lagers on. We've no beers on cause they only went on last night. We ordered the salmon pasta & f,c & ps! Not sparkling I'm afraid. 4 ladies left. 8-10 thirsty looking lads came in, hung around, left. An older lady came in. A couple came in, waited & left. The place wasn't quite warm enough. The staff seemed well meant. £35 is a lot to pay for something not really enjoyed. The payment for parking arrangements are ambivalent. My wife paid £2 unnecessarily. We were told it was nothing to do with the pub. Bit short sighted? Don't think we'll be rushing back! Shame really.

Good little hotel .we only stayed one night to attend a wedding elsewhere .our room was spacious and clean with a comfy bed and a great breakfast in the morning .The staff in the bar were really pleasant and helpful and a good selection of drinks .Thank you

We visited the Swan Hotel over the weekend and stayed for the night in one of the hotel rooms, the room was lovely, the bed was comfy and breakfast was amazing. The Swan is right in the middle of whalley so its great for exploring We dined in the restaurant and found the food was brilliant and really good value for money we will certainly be returning for another visit very soon

Absolutely terrible. The table hadn't been cleaned in goodness knows how long so much so my arms were sticking to it. Food arrived and was diabolical. The side salad consisted of lettuce and nothing else. An order of Hunters Chicken described on the menu as having " streaky bacon and peas " came with the fattiest piece of back bacon and no peas just some of the unappetizing lettuce slapped on the side. Avoid at all costs if you want some semblance of value for money !!!!

I only stayed for the one night, as I was just passing through. Ample free parking at the back of the hotel. The staff are very friendly with a welcoming smile. My room was very neat and clean with lovely decor. The breakfast was substantial and again served with a smile.

Quiet drinks had here. Clientele ok but better places for drinks in whalley. Decent selection of drinks to be had.

We stayed in the Swan for a weekend in June to attend a nearby wedding reception. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff the room was nice and clean and the breakfast was very tasty, I would recommend a visit.

Ordered the Gammon steak and Hunters chicken. Wasn’t over busy but several others in dining and others drinking. Very disappointing meal. The gammon arrived without the egg. Had to go back to the bar to ask for that. By the time it arrived I had finished most of my meal. I certainly would not describe it as a gammon steak. I have seen thicker slices of bacon. It was pretty tasteless and the glaze was bland. The onion rings and tomatoes were dry. Seemed to me they had been cooked much earlier and warmed up for these meals. Please see the pictures. Sauces and condiments brought to table but no salt and pepper. Had to ask for salt. This came after we had started our meal. No member of staff at any time came over to ask how the meal was. Based on this visit I cannot recommend this establishment for its food. On the plus side the chips were very good. The lager was a good pint and reasonably priced. £4.00. Also ample parking at the back of the hotel. Pay and display but you get a refund on this if you use the hotel.

A nice place accommodation was OK but expensive your right in the middle of the village so we had lots of noise outside till the early hours breakfast was good great start to the day

Had a late lunch with a friend and wish I had gone to the chippy! Had mussels to start which were lik rubber! Then the fish and chips came and were the worst I have ever had! Chips were soggy and the fish was definitely not fresh and was like an oil spill! No mushy peas but garden which were just warm! I never complain just ate it cause I was so hungry! My friend enjoyed her starter cauliflower in batter but she did not enjoy her little rocks disguised as scampi! I paid as a treat so wasted almost £30! Will not be eating there again!

The hotel room was clean and tidy, with comfy beds, plenty of towels and storage for clothing. Tea and coffee were available in the room and the plus side for me was the herbal teas on offer, also the bottle of water was a nice touch. The full breakfast in the morning was just the right size with everything you could ask for. There is a car park at the back with free parking for customers staying at the hotel. The pub downstairs looked quite busy when we turned up, but we decided not to sample their drinks or food this time. The only downside was the noise from outside. I didn't realise that Whalley is the night club capital of the Ribble Valley! The single glazed window was not enough to keep the noise out from the party goers outside. Maybe staying any night but a Saturday this may be different. I would use the hotel again but maybe ask for a room at the back of the hotel away from the street noise.

After a lovely afternoon in Whalley walking round the Artisan Markets in the Courtyard & having long chats with the friendly locals, we decided to rest our feet & went for a Glass of Gin/Glass of White wine 🍷 😀.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights as we were attending a family wedding nearby and we had a good stay. The place itself is in the centre with amenities close by. The hotel has its own car park which is free if toy are stopping at the hotel. The place itself is nice the room we had was a bit on the small side but clean and the bed was good. The steps up to the bedroom are steep and may be difficult for elderly people. The breakfasts in the morning are great and the staff are welcoming and warm.

Great place with lots of parking and a lovely garden area. Although I did not eat, I saw the food being served and it looked delicious... Entertainment was in the form of several hands playing outside, in particular was a band playing music from the 60s and 70s, people were coming from the street to watch and sing along.....Nice...

Sorry butvthe food was not up to standard. But the staff was very good and helpful. I think they need a good chef.

Used to visit the Swan 25 years ago and always had a decent lunch. We were recently in the area so called in for lunch, as we had a further 70 miles to travel. Quite frankly both of the meals we ordered were rubbish. My partner had cod which she considered to be pre battered and frozen. I had gammon which was so thin it could well have been through a bacon slicer. It was like eating shoe leather. The waitress was sympathetic and we were only charged for 1 meal. Because very little was eaten by either of us we faced the journey home still hungry I suggest that the cook had a difficulty to present a decent meal because of the poor quality of the ingredients. At the same time that we were in another party were unhappy with their food. The owners, the Vixen Pub Co., should be ashamed of themselves for have such poor standards of food in what is a pleasant pub.
