Been several times and always have a good experience when dining here. Booked a table for a family birthday lunch. Excellent food, catered for our food allergies and intoleranceses. Fast service.

A nice pub for Sunday lunch. Came here for lunch, had scotch egg and whitebait for starters, both tasted amazing. The actual Sunday roast was a disappointment (we had better at the sun before), potatoes tasted poached, meat too, and tasted bland. But this may be a one off. In general, good pub I’d recommend a visit after a nice stroll through Morden Hall.

The food was reasonably priced and very good portion size (especially the quiz burger deal on the Tuesday!). The staff were friendly. The pub is reasonably sized inside, but not ideal for pushchairs etc, but it does have an outside(which I presume would be ideal in summer although I didn't see it). They welcome dogs and have water/treats available for them. They also have a selection of games to play. The prices are reasonable. The quiz night (Tuesday), was fun. And they do other things throughout the week. I didn't see any TV's though... But i'd definitely recommend popping in!

I booked The Sun Gin Library for my 50th birthday celebration in early March. From planning to execution The Sun was faultless. Attention to details, while still keeping a relaxed approach was welcome. The advice & suggestions put forward along the way , when undecided on any points during the planning were spot on! On the night, to avoid congestion at the bar area, The Sun provided different drink stations spread out within the function area (such as wine trees, a separate ‘station’ with a barrel of ale & iced buckets for the different beers). Great idea! The various seating areas provided also suited my guests- such as the younger guests making a space for themselves, congregating on the balcony area & using the blankets provided. There was also different seating areas inside & plenty of floor space to move around, or dance if you wanted. The birthday cake - was fittingly showcased on its own table. I had created a Spotify playlist for the night which they kindly played through their music system. The food was outstanding & have since had several comments from my guests about how great it was. The team of staff for the function were brilliant - special thank you to Ed, Mia & Nathan. Thanks Jo & the team. For helping to make my 50th party a night to remember. Will be back for another superb Sunday lunch in the near future.

Excellent service and very friendly staff. Food of good quality if a little expensive. We had a party of 8 and we all received our meal at the same time. Variety of beer and wines available. What could you complain about! We went lunchtime mid week, so a little quiet.

A very pubby pub. Not a boozer but still convivial. Food leaning into gastro with the kitchen obviously taking pride in their offerings. When full of an evening it feels hearty. The owner clearly likes being there. The staff are chatty. I tried to take some stars off so my review feels less fanish but I couldn't in all heart think of any area that deserved it. It is a really good little pub, tucked away from the main drag along the ponds and sadly easily overlooked; lord knows I missed it for years and now regret that fact.

I celebrated my 60th birthday here in the gin library at The Sun and we had a fabulous time. You can't fault the food, the service, or the atmosphere. Thank you to Jo the manager for all her support planning the event, and Bonnie for running it all so smoothly. So very grateful, and everyone had a good time. A friend is already booking her 60th there following mine!

Pudding at the end of Burns’ Night Supper. Feel full to bursting. I was worried that Callum might lose a finger whilst addressing the Haggis. Thankfully no ambulance required!

I came to the sun for dinner after work. Really quick service and friendly staff. I ordered the burger and the sticky toffee which was tasty. Cocktails a bit too strong to enjoy, especially for the price.

We had a group booking for lunch in Jan 2023. it was so freezing cold that we all had to wear our coats and the senior member of staff lied that the heating was on but the radiators were cold. I hope the heating will be fully on this winter! It was not pleasant visit sadly.

Just try their burger it would solve all your problems I promise!

Great local pub with good food and a good selection of drinks

Such a lovely place. The staff are amazing especially as we are a very big group of both adults and kiddies. They made it so easy and the food was amazing.

Lovely local and will be back. Nut roast was good, but the gravy could have a bit more flavour and be a bit thicker. Cheese tart was very small for the price - a slice of tart would be more accurate. Hopefully I can give it 5 stars next time.

Service was phenomenal but the roast was rather disappointing. We had a reservation for when they first opened at noon so you’d think that the food would be fresh. The chicken roast and veg tasted like it’d been sitting out for a good while. We struggled to get the knife through the chicken even. There’s definitely room for improvement.

One of the best pubs in Carshalton. Superb food and a great range of beers and spirits. Lovely atmosphere any night of the week, with brilliant live music in the Gin Library on Fridays.

We have eaten here before and the food was excellent although a tad pricey. On this occasion went for a late Sunday roast lunch which was ok but not brilliant. Luke warm veg and tough stringy lamb. VERY small portions of the trio of meats. I would recommend the Greyhound and particularly the Duke's head for a far better Sunday roast. That said the pub is friendly and the staff excellent. Poor choice of ale in the higher abv range. Will go again but not for Sunday roast.

A warm welcome and made to feel like part of the family when you walk into this pub. Friendly table service without a long wait. Food served piping hot and really tasty. Been here a few times now and have a few guest beers / cider on tap. Recommend the Sea cider and the sticky toffee pudding......

Good local pub. Food is pricy but good. Decent selection of beers. Update - been a few times post COVID now and I have to say while the food is ok it's nowhere near as good as it was - which is important given the prices are still high. £17 to £19 for a Sunday roast.

Amazing experience hiring The Gin Library at The Sun recently for a special birthday. Jo was so helpful and attentive in the planning process, and the evening went without a hitch - so many compliments on what an amazing space it was and the fantastic food. Thank you for helping make my day so special.

Hadn’t been here for a while but the standards hadn’t dropped, in fact, they had been raised higher! The food and drink was impeccable, but what made the visit so special was the service we received! Isabel and Ava were both brilliant at their jobs, and made the whole experience a joy. A lot of pubs and restaurants seem to neglect good customer service these days, but this establishment, and these two girls in particular, could teach the industry a thing or two, it really makes all the difference! If you haven’t been here before, I highly recommend it.

Utterly smitten with this place. Struggled with the QR code to sort dinner, lovely lovely staff helped with zero fuss... and dinner was delicious. Returned next day a bit hungover and nice lady did a bit of a welfare check on me as I looked so peaky. The Sun staff and chefs, we love you! From the two on table 64 Sat night & Sun arvo who just seemed to have one issue after another. What a sweet, kind & patient lot you are. AND food was sublime xx

A perfect experience from service to food. Management were very accommodating with our requests and adapted their rules to suit our party. The Sun is a little Jem with a large secret outdoor space.

One of the nicest venues in Carshalton.

On a glorious, cloudless Summer's day, my sister and I could not have found a nicer place on the entire planet to have our lunch. The Sun has a very prominent position in Carshalton, and it is named after our life-giving star for a reason... Everything about our visit was BRILLIANT!! You first see the attractive pub exterior, and then on entering you are warmly greeted by very friendly staff. There was a lovely aroma in the air coming from the kitchen, and so it was impossible not to order lunch there. Excellent food (and very reasonably priced), an impressive drinks list, and a chic French theme in the attractive decor, this pub is very special, like the Sun itself. Not to be missed!

We held our staff party at the Sun yesterday, and it was just a lovely experience. The staff couldn't do enough to help us with the planning, and on the day we were so well looked after, especially by Beth. We hired the Gin Library, a beautiful, bright room with a private bar and roof terrace that's upstairs - it was a perfect space for our group of just over 30 people to have a great party and celebration of our last year. The food was INCREDIBLE - we were offered an extensive party menu, and everything looked and tasted delicious. They clearly take a lot of pride in their food and it pays off. I feel so lucky that we have such a great pub and event venue on our doorstep - but even if it wanst, Id travel to go there again!

It’s a nice pub with nice food and a good selection of drinks not available in all the other pubs. The food is good and the atmosphere is nice however we had a roast on Sunday and I don’t think it was very good especially for the cost these days. Which is the only reason I’d give it 4*

This was our 4th visit to The Sun. We have been for 3 lunches but as a Birthday treat for my wife we booked for a Friday evening. I always think the popularity of a place is a strong indicator as to how good it is and every time we have visited it is great to see it so busy. The food, as usual was faultless. I had the Haddock and Chips for my main meal. I wasn't disappointed! Great menu. We chose a lovely bottle of South African Chardonnay. The service was friendly and attentive. The Team at The Sun should be proud to be able to tempt customers to return. We will definitely return. Thank You

My favourite place in Carshalton, I haven’t been since pre lockdown. And really fancied something nice but not travel far see I remembered the sun, from entrance of a smiley host, helping us find a table as we hadn’t booked, food was insanely amazing. Decor and staff all perfect. Can’t wait to come back!!

While the food was tasty, the portions won't fill you up if you're really hungry. The food was well presented but the small veg portions looked like they were just there as a garnish, to add colour to the plate.

We had my mums 70th birthday here in the upstairs room. It was a perfect space for a mixed group with teens and tiny ones. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. I would highly recommend!

Magnificent meals and superb service! We booked for a family meal to celebrate my mum’s 70th birthday. We were blown away by the hospitality, quality of the delicious food and the great service especially as we were a large booking ranging from 1 years old, younger children, teenagers and adults. The extra birthday touches and decorations provided were a wonderful surprise. This level of customer care makes The Sun stand out as a venue for special occasions too! We stepped into the Sun and left beaming from ear to ear! Thank you for helping make wonderful memories for our family. Such a special day.

Came here for lunch on Saturday, having been here before for a drink. The menu looked great so I booked a table for two. Was completely blown away by the food! The haggis scotch egg starter was perfect, as were our mains of lamb shoulder and butternut squash pappardelle. Rounded it off with a sticky toffee pudding to share. Absolutely incredible, we literally finished everything on our plates! But even better still was the service we received from everyone who served us, particularly the new girl, Bonnie, who was exceptional from start to finish! Given that it was getting extremely busy in there, she was very calm and polite and attentive, and always had a smile on her face! Would definitely return here, no hesitation, and would recommend to anybody that enjoys a great pub, this is one of those.

A post Christmas get together with 17 friends in early January. We dined in the gin library and were well looked after during the meal. But that is where the hospitality ended. After spending over £1.5k as a group we were horrified that once we had paid, the staff hurried us downstairs. More drinks were purchased and then swiftly without warning the staff told us to drink up. I was most surprised given they had taken further monies after our meal and said we could drink our drinks downstairs. Soon plastic glasses arrived on our table and we were ushered out of the premises. We were most disappointed given that we were allowed to buy another bottle of wine! 'hospitality on its knees ?!?' clearly not at the Sun! I like to support local businesses where ever possible, but this approach to service was not acceptable. I welcome an explanation of why this happened and hope to return to this independent to enjoy more great craft beer and delicious food in future.

I had Sunday lunch with my family yesterday and the service and food was excellent. I have visited the sun many times over the years and I can honestly say it’s by far the best pub/restaurant in the area. My one year old grandson loved the food, and the toys as well! A Very nice day thank you.

Went for a Sunday lunch with the family and the grand children, the staff were brilliant could not have be more helpful. food was very good with generous portions, not cheap but good value, the only downside was that is was cold in there, many customers had there coats on.

Really Good Food, the nut roast was great. My wife had The Sun burger which she said was good. The service for the food was good, the only disappointment was the service for the drinks, we had to send one back as it was wrong and every time we wanted a drink I had to try and get someone’s attention. Not ideal while you’re eating.

Just back from Sunday lunch for our anniversary. Sunday roast excellent. Lamb was delicious. Husband enjoyed his white bait starter and veggie curry. Only disappointment was desert. Apple and sultana sponge was under cooked, Sunday, not that hot and and £7, you really need to produce the goods.Staff were amazing and highly recommend.

We are regulars here because the food is phenomenal and the service is great. We travel for about 40 mins to visit here but it's always worth it. I have never had a disappointing experience here.This was our first Sunday roast of the season. Himself had the chicken roast and I had the veggie nut roast. We kicked things off with a beer and Bloody Mary respectively - they do one of the best Bloody Mary's I have ever tasted and they ask how spicy you like it and I like it hot!The roasts were perfect as ever.I didn't have room for dessert this time but the sticky toffee pudding is always a winner. Finished things off with a nice Malbec. Tables were spaced, staff were in masks. The place was busy but the staff were friendly and attentive as always.What a brilliant little pub!

My boyfriend and I have recently discovered this lovely pub. They do the most delicious vegan roast that we have been back every Sunday since. Every time we sat in their lovely garden and the service is just amazing. Everyone is so friendly. We are also planning to come back on a Saturday as we saw they have singers on and maybe one night for a pub quiz. Love it.

I am a great supporter of local businesses and have been a regular customer at The Sun for many years.My husband and I visited on 12 August, as part of the government's EOTHO scheme.Dinner was ordered and we were served our drinks, which included a glass of over-priced wine. I never got the water I ordered.My husband ordered a starter which for some unknown reason, came to the table at the same time as both main courses - I must say we were both so shocked that we didn't ask for the main courses to be taken back and either kept warm (not ideal) or re-done. The meal of fish and chips was at best average. We had to ask again for the 2nd round of drinks we had ordered but we went ahead ordered desserts, both of which were served in hot bowls - not ideal for my husbands sorbet which was melting when it was served.I'm hoping this was just a bad night - but it was disappointing and we're not keen to return.

Had dinner for our Dad's birthday. Food was as delicious as it usually is. Massive fish and chips for my dad and bro, surprisingly filling seabass for myself and a spicy pork belly ragu for mum. Mmmmmmm mmm. :D

I visited with my wife and her mum on a Tuesday evening & took advantage of the 'eat out to help out' scheme. The staff were incredible, helpful & attentive without being a nuisance. Good selection of beers and the bar area suffered a little on the atmosphere front due to the tables being more spaced out to comply with Covid regs, clearly not the pub's fault.The food was superb, all in all a great evening.
