Excited to go back here after a year away. Shocked that the state of the car park, big potholes, cars parked in a disorderly manner. Eventually got in to cafe. Nothing has changed since last year. Long queues, felt hurried to read board, then had to look for a seat to sit and eat our food. Nota relaxed atmosphere. Can I suggest that you sort out the car park ASAP before cars are damaged. Food was excellent once we got it.

Our second visit this year, food was good as always. Really disappointed to be sat out in the cold mini marque on both visits, it was freezing even with fan heater nearby. They have added 2 extra 2 seat tables which we were directed to but they were very uncomfortable to sit on even with a cushion. I could see all tables were feeling cold, wrapped up in hats, scarfs and coats and still cold. We may return but only in Summer months.

Good bacon rolls & coffee but insane ordering service. My wife was away 15 minutes waiting to order, ordering, then waiting for the coffees. The staff delivering food & clearing tables could use tablets then bring the items leading to a faster turn over of customers & more money. I didn’t have a second coffee as I couldn’t be bothered waiting.

The overall experience here is good. Food, service, etc. I find that it is very busy and this day was no different. I do find that the noise levels can be quite loud! If this is an issue, then do what you must. Just be prepared for it. There was also a large queue here prior to ordering. I guess being in a good location on the A9 has the blame for this. Regardless, we did have a nice breakfast/brunch! Note re: gluten, I ordered a gluten free breakfast and there were limitations I.e., toast?

Waited in a queue for over 20 mins. Meantime I picked up 3 soft drinks from the open fridge and placed an order for a wood fired pizza and flat bread. Bill was paid before food arrives and on checking bill we found we’d been charged for 2 beers. Wife went to rectify. They then said we’d owe them money as one of the 250ml soft drink cans was , I kid you not, £7 for a spring water, tonic and some flavours of orange, rhubarb and some other fruit. They told us it was ok and just to return and wait on food. There are no prices displayed on drinks and wife was so embarrassed on being told we owed more she just sat down Food arrived. Pizza was cold. Barely had any toppings. Was returned and another 5 mins presented again. I ate a few slices and wondered why it wasn’t tasting great and when I checked the dough it was not cooked through. By this stage we’d had beers charges we didn’t have, bought a drink unpriced to find it was £7 and had cold food. So we just left. I really can’t see us returning again. It’s a food factory.

We had a really delicious lunch here, I had breaded monkfish cheeks on a bean and chorizo stew, wasn't too pricey either. It's cosy and there are great views across the firth. Service is very friendly. We bought treats (and some last minute gifts) in the deli after. My old Dad comes here all the time to get local milk - he can charge his car here so the trip is basically free for him. Anyway it's a lovely place, easy to recommend.

As regular customers we are used to having to stand in a very slow moving queue to order our food. It's never great but today was spectacular. People queue because the food is so good, fresh and local, however, we decided to leave the queue having estimated we would need a further 20-30mins to reach the order point. We ate else where, along with the other's who left too. This is not good business, no matter how good the food is.

There are two places on the A9 worth a visit, this being one and the best by far of the Highland section of the A9, the other for the interested is at Bankfoot being the taste of Perthshire, a distant provider of quality food and Scottish goods. Our 2023 return from Sutherland had the first rest stop at the Storehouse, I had the obligatory full Scottish breakfast, it was full for sure. I thoroughly enjoyed it, we're looking forward to our return pilgrimage to Sutherland in 2024.

Lovely venue and very clearly a prime spot for anyone on their NC500 adventures. The menu is various and the food is plentiful but I do find it can be a little salty on occasion, not every visit saw this but enough times for me to notice an on on/off trend. This is coming from someone who generally adds salt to their food too. The location is a winner in that it lies on the main road leading you Northwards but when inside or seated out back near the rivers edge, there's little sound or sign of being that close to the road.

Arrived at 1.30, place was busy, but there was plenty of space in the restaurant , we ordered fish and chips, and a pulled brisket burger, one coffee and one tea. We sat down at 1.40pm, and waited, after 20mins, during which we drank the coffee and tea, the food arrived. The fish and chips, well, the only chips that were hot were those under the fish, the peas were barely warmed, the fish was dripping oil and the bottom was solid batter, and 24mm on each end was nothing but batter. Normally I’d have sent it back, but after 20mins wasn’t sure there was a point in waiting. The pulled brisket burger achieved the distinction of not only being dry and tough but also salty ! Having waited 20mins we were hungry, so we ate what we could. On leaving I spoke to the server, who responded with the phrase, yes my friend to all of my comments, given we didn’t want to wait I declined anything as we had a long way to travel, but was left with the impression that the server was more interested in chatting to the female friend visiting Overall, looks good, lots of room, cakes, etc look appealing, but what we had out of the kitchen was sub par and would better out of your average chipshop !

Great setting. Very busy. Was excellent the last few times I’ve been here. However, it appears they are resting on their laurels. They need to do a better job on service. The table was sticky. We arrived just around noon as know that it is a popular and busy eaterie and have not been here since a couple of years. The place has got bigger with extension of marquee type thing? The meringues and sponge cakes in the fridges made your mouth water when queuing for food. My husband had pot of tea and a berry crumble but it was not crumbly and just falling oats everywhere with bit of jam on top, not good but he ate it as did not want to make a fuss. I tasted it and in hindsight should have taken it back, as not worth eating and not worth the money? A bad choice. I had the Thai chicken soup and it was the best soup I've ever tasted, I'll need to try to get recipe? I had it with the fruit scone instead of oatcakes or bread, and the scone was delicious and gave my husband half of it as felt sorry that his cake was rubbish! He said he should have just got a scone instead of the berry crumble. I would go back and would recommend the place. No bad comments about the staff, all good on that front.
