As a family we have been fortunate enough to eat here many times and last night (Valentines Day) we returned as a family of four, The food was incredible, service friendly and efficient and the value for money is unbelievable. I can't speak highly enough of the restaurant, not only great for a posh grown up meal out but also well worth noting that Stepping Stone has the best children's menu of any restaurant I have ever eaten at.

Everything was perfect and the food was absolutely delicious. From the succulent duck starter, to the melt in the mouth lamb, and finally the best sticky toffee pudding I've ever eaten! Great service and lovely staff.

Three of us went for dinner on a Friday early evening, last week . We had booked a week earlier and it was an essential move, as the small but airy room was full. A decent space between tables allowed for quiet conversation. Our starters were smoked salmon, and scallops which were big, juicy and in a delicious creamy sauce. Our mains were slow cooked shoulder of lamb done to perfection in a pulled way, ie. not sliced, and roast chicken with super hand cut chips. Portions were quite generous, and absolutely full of flavour and the lamb was served with caringly cooked vegetables and mash. Sorbet and Cornish ice cream for our dessert followed by excellent coffee. Service was very friendly and staff were knowledgeable. The owner was on site and had a word with each table, and we will definitely be going there again! No compulsory service charge, which we liked, leading to a good tip from us.

Amazing food and a lovely experience all round. The food was delicious and excellent quality. Every mouthful was sublime. The service was friendly and efficient. Absolutely couldn’t fault it and thoroughly recommend for a wonderful lunch or dinner.

What a gem. Honestly the best meal we've had in a long time. Difficult to choose from such a tempting menu but every dish we had was beautifully presented and utterly delicious. Very high quality local produce, skillfully cooked. Service was very friendly and efficient. Prices were extremely reasonable for such an excellent menu.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Portion sizes were very generous and at a reasonable price. Everything was cooked well and was delicious. Staff were helpful, accommodating and friendly. Couldn’t ask for more, we’ll definitely be returning when we get the chance.

We had a double 90th birthday celebration here today. We booked out the entire place. Great menu choices for all courses and the food was excellent. I had the tiger prawns to start, lamb as the main and finished with chocolate sundae and coffee. I think between all the guests we covered off the entire menu and everyone that I spoke to thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The service was spot on. Given the amount of food served, the variety of dishes and difficulty some of the guests had, the staff were so friendly and patient. The second time I've visited and this was even better than the first time, which was also very good. I highly recommend.

I consider myself a connoisseur of Sunday Lunches and here it is one of the best. Really tasty, good sized homemade yorkshires, good quality beef and plenty of it, a good sized helping of varied and well cooked vegetables. Very pleasant waiting staff, the owners I suspect, and a varied well priced wine list. Two courses for £22-23. Great value for money, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Dinner on Saturday was absolutely delicious. The food was fantastic and the customer service was perfect - made to feel very welcome and comfortable and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

We had a great dinner at Stepping stone. The staff were really kind and food tasty. I ordered the Roast pan hake with rissoto and a glass of wine and I really enjoyed it. It’s a good alternative if you want something different to an English pub and want to enjoy some fresh fish.

The food at The Stepping Stone was outstanding. The scallops to start with were divine. My husband had the hake which he said was the best he’s ever eaten - and he knows his hake (which, by the way, he thinks is hugely underrated) I had the fish curry which had an amazing depth of flavour but somehow managed not to overpower the delicacy of the fish. The panacotta was better than my husband’s - sadly for him ;)The service was perfect. I didn’t catch the name of the waiter but he was very friendly and efficient. Trudy and Ryan clearly know their stuff and have created a very special restaurant. We loved it!

Fabulous small restaurant, great ambience and the friendly welcoming team looked after us well . Our meal was exceptional, good size portions, well presented . The scallops were gorgeous , likewise lobster Thermidor, and my husband raved that his fillet steak was best he’d had for a long time . We are regular visitors to this area in Cornwall , so this will definitely be our “go to” restaurant in the future ! At peak times you will need to book .

Great restaurant, with well spaced tables, in a very attractive setting. Very welcoming hostess and the chef provided some delicious seafood dishes. Lobster bisque was superb, as was the lobster thermidor. This must be the best restaurant in Wadebridge by a long way and would recommend highly.

Visited Stepping Stone 2 evenings during our visit to Wadebridge.We were so very well looked after, can’t fault anything, we indulged one evening with Lobster Thermidor, just amazing !! Fantastic meal at this small but cosy restaurant in the heart of Wadebridge. Book ahead as always busy obviously due to the great good, friendly service and reasonable prices. Could have eaten everything on the menu but the crab salad and Sri Lankan fish curry were delicious. Highly recommend. Definitely will visit again.

We were given the gift of an anniversary gift of a meal out at this restaurant and it was honestly one of the best meals we’ve eaten out!The food was beautifully prepared and presented, the staff were attentive but not too much, they were happy to recommend a wine to go along with the food. It was our 19th anniversary and the dessert had a gorgeous little message on it to congratulate us, such a lovely personal touch, it made me cry (happy tears!) Would 10/10 recommend for value for money and quality!

Staff were great- couldn’t fault them.Meals were slightly disappointing if being totally honest. My partner had the duck then bake for main- both were lovely. I have the risotto and steak for main- neither were worth the money. Risotto lacking flavour and the steak was awful. Asked for rare and it coke out well done, plus it was the toughest steak I have ever tried. I am not only to complain in a restaurant, however as it was the most expensive choice in the menu I was going to. The steak was sent back and replaced after a good 20-25 minutes, such a shame. Even the replacement was over cooked. Apparently the chef did say it was a bad quality steak- so why serve it start with?? Strange. Wouldn’t return based on this experience.

Lunch was nothing special. Eton mess dessert was disappointing. One waiting staff was friendly and helpful, the other not as good. Won’t return

My partner booked us in for dinner for my Birthday. From the moment we entered we were greeted by a lovely host, shown straight to our table and offered the wine menu. 3 courses of excellent food, in a really nice, chilled but professional environment. Would 100% recommend The Stepping Stone to anyone who's visiting the area.

Went to the Stepping Stone for an anniversary lunch. Staff very helpful when booking (recommend you book well in advance if you want to go in the evening). Food delicious, I had the scallops to start, hubby had chicken liver pate - both wonderful. trio of fish in filo pastry and pan fried chicken for the mains - both fabulous. Staff attentive but not annoying. Prices great, well worth the money! We will definitely go back!!

We booked a table for 7pm some 4 months before our visit, and come the day it was the day of England’s semi final against Denmark! But the restaurant allowed us to change the booking to 6pm and opened early to accommodate us (and others I’m sure), which was a nice touch. Although relatively small, the atmosphere was great, the decor bright and airy. Now the important bit - the food. Absolutely superb. Couldn’t fault it. Service was excellent too. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this little gem.

Trudi did everything she could to fit us in this evening, and kept in regular touch re: cancellations etc. Service and food were both fantastic! Food was excellent, and to a much higher standard than the Rick Stein's restaurant we'd eaten at earlier in the week, for twice the price! Well done Trudi and team, for running a lovely, relaxed, good value restaurant with delicious menu options! Will definitely come back if we're in the area again.

Forget all of the hype about the so called celebrity chefs down the road in Padstow and if you are lucky enough to get a table in here you are in for a treat. Amazing food and service from a family that really care about their customers. Nothing too much trouble, serving up consistently very high quality dishes using locally sourced ingredients. We will be booking again for next years trip as soon as we can.

We were in Wadebridge today and managed to get a table for lunch in this well reviewed restaurant and we were not disappointed. The course charity lunch is ridiculously cheap for such outstanding food. The chef clearly loves food in order to create such outstanding dishes. The staff are lovely and the choices are simply exceptional. Eat your heart out Rick Stein - this is how to do it!

Four adults went for Sunday lunch, excellent food ,service ,and price. Could not fault. All three courses were very good ,hot and freshly cooked. You must book well in advance.

What a find this place was. The food was delicious, very reasonably priced. Ambience and service excellent. The orange panacotta with orange sorbet was absolutely outstanding. Thoroughly recommend.

We were lucky enough to eat here twice in our two week stay, and both times it was fantastic! We all had different starters and meals each time and they were all delicious. All four of us the trio of fish at some point and it’s delightful! The staff are genuinely friendly, welcoming and attentive. Highly recommended.

Sunday lunch was very good. We enjoyed the starters. There was a choice of roast or other other for the main course. Both were good.

Once again we ventured out on our short vacation in Wadebridge and was pleasantly surprised by this small and in assuming restaurant tucked away in a back street in Wadebridge as we tucked into lunch here. The decor was pleasing on the eye and the service excellent, my memory is a little jaded due to the fact that afterwards we went on a wine tasting experience up Padstow way, and I can only remember what I ate despite refreshing myself with the menu. But my monkfish curry was absolutely sublime, and everybody else said there food was too, and over all this was voted (for what its worth) our favourite restaurant on our little tour of N Cornwall.Avoid the hussle, bustle and chaos of the N Cornish coast and pay a trip to this little beauty instead.

It was difficult to get a table at this restaurant but, having dined there last night, we now know why.Really tasty and beautifully presented food combined with warm friendly service. Prices are very reasonable and there is a good wine list.Cornwall needs more restaurants of this quality.

From the moment we entered the restaurant we were made to feel welcome. Trudy is excellent at front of house and recommended dishes on the menu...lots of choice and all the food that came out looked delicious! We really enjoyed our food...especially the sticky toffee pudding! Would definitely recommend a visit to this restaurant to experience the quality food.

An excellent restaurant with lovely food. I bring my 86 year old mother who has felt very safe and secure in these covid times. Nothing is too much trouble. Had lovely lobster and particularly recommend the lamb and the scallops. The lunch time set menu is excellent value

We have been here 4 times and the first time, which was before lock down, I was extremely impressed, but over the last few visits I have become increasingly disillusioned. This last time I was looking forward to a nice relaxing evening, but found that I felt under pressure and the course were coming to the table almost before I had finished the previous one. Also the food although good seemed to miss some of the quality that I first enjoyed. I put it all down to Covid, maybe!!

The Stepping Stone was recommended by some friends and what a recommendation. The hostess that greeted us was extremely friendly and made us very welcome. The restaurant is not very big and booking is definitely advised. The food was beautifully cooked and very well presented, Michelin star quality but not Michelin star price. We would definitely go back.

A little gem of a restaurant with a hardworking friendly hostess and amazing food. Recommendation of duck salad starter and the Lobster and crab bisque . Trio of fish and lobster Thermidor were delicious and hate to say were too full for a desert. This place deserves its 5 stars and they should be very proud of themselves. In our opinion served better food than we had in local celebrity restaurants nearby .

We were recommended by a friend and we had the most fabulous meals the three times we’ve been. We have eaten at Nathan Outlaws and Paul Ainsworth and we both agree that the stepping stone equals them. The food is sublime and is always one of the highlights of our holiday. The lamb and steak are musts!

We found The Stepping Stone by accident and what a find! Having sampled the delights of several of Rock and Padstow's best, lunch here was equally good and better than some. For the first time in a week, we had difficulty choosing from the interesting and varied menu. Every dish without exception was beautifully presented and delicious, and the service was relaxed and friendly. Excellent value for money too.We wish Ryan and Trudi lots of success and have already passed on the name to friends who are regular visitors.

Had a really lovely meal here for our wedding anniversary, so glad we booked weeks in advance. Quite unique layout to the restaurant, in that it is wide but not very long, i.e. you walk in and the bar is almost straight in front of you. Big advantage of that is that the waitress/front of house was always visible and provided great service.I like fish but I’m not one to order it when eating out, however, I went for scallops for my starter and Indonesian curry for my main, both of which were excellent, and the portions were good, but not too much.Treacle tart to finish was just right. This was an overall superb dining experience, absolutely faultless.

Absolutely faultless, beautifully presented and delicious. We all had grilled lobster for main course. The best we have ever had. Cant recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Perfect place to meet and enjoy first-rate locally produced food. We had 3 courses and enjoyed each one. The crab and mackerel to start followed by lamb and monk fish cooked as an Indonesian curry and then treacle tart and summer berry parfait. I had the parfait with blood orange sorbet rather than the mango suggested on the menu - it was to die for!The welcome and service by Trudi was genuine and efficient and the Covid measures sufficient but unobtrusive. Highly recommended.

The restaurant was recommended by our host, Steve, at the Wadebridge B&B and it was spot on. The food was wonderful – mackerel pate, goats cheese and beetroot salad, sea bass and the trio of fish (hake, sea bass and monkfish). These came with a good selection of well-cooked vegetables, which were included in the price (please note St Petroc’s). Even if these were additionally charged they would have been good value.There was a good atmosphere, the staff were very friendly and helpful and overall it was a very enjoyable experience.

We booked a table weeks before our stay and was not disappointed. The atmosphere was so comfortable and the service was amazing. The food was out of this world. We have eaten at Michelin starred restaurants and this was right up their. Very reasonable prices.

My wife and I ate here earlier in the month, lovely cosy atmosphere with delicious food and great staff. The Indonesian Curry was delicious as was the Sticky Toffee pudding with ice cream. We will definitely be back when we are back down in Cornwall.

Visited on 9th Sept with my husband, best meal i have ever eaten. Everything was delicious. The waiter recommended ciders and how to have the steak, and i wasnt disappointed. Staff very friendly. Wish i lived closer!

we were staying nearby at Trewornan Manor B&B Wadebridge and they recommended this restaurant as we were struggling to get into the better-known restaurants as Cornwall is so busy (early September), so glad they did our meal (4 of us all chose something different) was excellent, good value for money as were the wines. We really enjoyed our dinner with local products to the fore. Excellent scallops and mackerel parfait starters were followed by a superb lamb dish. A great meal, and will definitely return next time I am in Wadebridge

Went here for lunch as hadn't visited for a while but still excellent & dealing well with covid situation. Well spaced clean tables, sanitiser available on entry/exit. Food was wonderfu,l great menu with plenty of choice and very reasonably priced. The crab, .obster & salmon linguine was spot on as was the duck starter.Service was excellent.

This restaurant really deserves more than five stars. Our family visited in August during our week’s holiday and were simply blown away by the amazing food here. We have not tasted such delicious food in a long time and this beats most Michelin star restaurants that we have ever been to. My husband had the grilled lobster which was cooked to perfection. We all tried the seafood bisque which was truly amazing. You do not often see sea bass on the children’s menu, which my son ordered, and said was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and friendly and we can’t wait to return again with family and friends! Can’t recommend this place enough!

Superb! We dined here this evening. I wasn’t keen on the rice but that’s completely because I’m fussy. The service was second to none. Attentive but not too much. 5* easily. And the food was great.

We had another fantastic evening at Stepping Stone. Excellent choice of menu and particularly good for our gluten free 17 year old grandson. If you love fish, this is the place for you but having said that, the chicken Kiev’s were also delicious. Please note - you will need to book or you may be disappointed. The restaurant is very popular.

An elegant and cosy restaurant serving food made with passion and care. My fiancée and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at The Stepping Stone. Tucked away in quaint Wadebridge, the menu offers brilliant food sourced from the local area. Cuts of lamb and beef are complimented by fresh scallops, lobster, crab and mackerel. In particular, I thoroughly enjoyed my main course: a cheesy linguini with fresh lobster and crab. It packed flavour and warmth, and was a great follow up to my mackerel parfait starter. The dessert, a homemade sticky toffee pudding with homemade clotted cream flavoured ice cream, went down a treat.In sum, a wonderful meal, and would definitely return next time I am in Cornwall!

From the warmest of welcome to the fondest farewell, The Stepping Stone is wonderful. The staff are welcoming, friendly and more importantly very efficient. There were 7 of us for an evening meal and with such a varied menu it was difficult to please everyone. The food was cooked perfectly and no any of the 7 were disappointed all giving it a 5 star rating. if you are looking for good food well cooked a varied seasonal menu and a friendly service, this is the place for you

We were staying in the area a couple of weeks ago and booked a table here. Can't rate it too highly, we had a beautiful meal, food was excellent. I thought the wine choice was reasonably priced. Absolutely loved it, the young man who took our order and said goodnight when we left was a treasure.

The food at The Stepping Stone is consistently wonderful! The bisque had a deep, rich flavour and generous dollop of crab meat. The lobster was one of the best we’ve had! Very meaty and in a beautiful sauce. The perfect meal!

First of all, if you plan to eat here then make sure you book ahead....you won't regret it!This is only a small restaurant but with a fantastic menu. It is always a good sign when you have to ask for longer to make a decision based purely on the fact that you don't want to get food envy. We both went for the crab and lobster bisque which is rich, full of flavour and amazing. Having never tried this before we didn't regret it. For mains:After much deliberation, we went for the trio of fish (Monk, sea bass and hake) and the white fish with crab wrapped in filo pastry with a crab and lobster veloute, both were amazing and served with a good selection of veg. Dessert:If by somehow you have room then the chocolate fudge brownie, caramac and honey combe ice cream sundae is one you can not go wrong with. Be warned, you will not be able to move much if you have this as your 3rd course. Excellent service throughout and highly recommend to anyone staying in the area!

Wow! Luckily we managed to book this ahead! If you didn’t know about this place would be quite easy to miss. Details were taken on arrival. Quite a smallish restaurant with socially distance tables- so definitely book in advance. Scallops and crab to start, with perfect portion sizes and great flavours. The curry and trio of fish for mains. Such a treat in one of the first meals out since March to eat food if such quality. If you are staying around rock wadebridge area make sure you come here. I will definitely be coming back.
