The Station Inn in Dumfries & Galloway

My wife and I have eaten at the Station several times in the past, but due to Cov'd we haven't eaten there for quite some time. We managed to get a table at the last minute on Sunday and we were blown away when we opened the front door to the restaurant, the transformation was amazing. We were met by one of their front of house team and shown to our table, Sunday Lunch menu's were presented to us and we decided to go for their two course option, I had the Roast Beef and my wife had the Roast Chicken and we weren't dissapointed in any way whatsoever, the food was really nice. We decided against deserts as we were really full. The restaurant was immaculate and it was nice to see that the staff were sticking to the Cov'd guidelines. Well done to all concerned for looking after us, we can't wait to go back.

Got told about this place, and wow we weren't disappointed at all, it will leave you wanting seconds or even asking for takeaway 😍. If your in the area you most visit and it's only a short drive from Gretna Gateway.

Stopped here after a visit to the Gretna retail park. We were looking for somewhere for a quit drink and a bit to eat. We were not disappointed, quality decor, very friendly and welcoming staff and the food was fantastic. Well worth a visit and only 2 minutes off the motorway.

Excellent delicious food. Varied mouth watering menu. Great service & very clean. Will definitely return.

My now husband and I were looking for a venue for our wedding reception in the Gretna Green area, and after a search found this lovely pub in Kirkpatrick Fleming, which was only a few miles from our wedding venue at the Old Blacksmiths shop. From initial contact to find out if they were able to accommodate our party, they were helpful and quick to respond to all our queries. Unfortunately as things turned out we couldn't have the planned party (due to COVID travel restrictions in England) but Abi was understanding about us having to cancel. As we were in the Gretna area before lockdown in England, we decided to go to the pub for a meal anyway, as we were disappointed not to be able to host our party there. We were blown away, Abi had prepared a table with balloons, a bottle & a card! We enjoyed a superb 3 course meal and could not fault a thing. The meat was tender, the Highland Chicken was absolutely delicious and the crumble pudding was to die for. They really have a top class chef! We really hope that people continue to patronise the pub, they are following all the guidelines and everyone is well spaced apart. It is spotlessly clean, very well presented with a good mix of modern and traditional furniture. They really deserve to do well and continue to thrive.We are (COVID allowing) coming back to Scotland in 2021 and will certainly be returning for another meal. We would have no reservations in recommending them to anyone.

After reading some good reviews of “the station” we decided to book a table for 6 for a late lunch. We were not disappointed, the food, service and facilities were excellent. A very good menu, well priced and presented. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable and Covid compliant. We will go back when next in the area.

Food was outstanding, really so impressed with the quality of the roast dinners in particular and all the puddings (crumble, sticky toffee, pud, ice creams, cheese cakes). Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were incredibly welcoming and courteous, just the right amount of attentiveness without interrupting. Tables were spaced out well, everything was sprayed down as groups departed, the toilets were immaculate too.Nothing but praise for this gem of a find and we will be returning!Thank you to The Station staff and Chef!

Absolutely delicious food! The whole family loved every bite. Also, spotlessly clean and friendly staff.

My wife and I were looking for somewhere for lunch and we happened upon The Station. COVID measures were We hadn't booked but staff fitted us in. There are menus for all budgets here and we were so impressed that we booked not only for the evening meal but also lunch the next day. Everything was great but the Station burgers were especially good. Food and service was great on all 3 occasions. Strongly recommended.

A last minute phone call secured a table for Sunday lunch. Arrived to be shown to nicely distanced table. Don't come if you want a real ale experience, but bottled was fine by me. Ordered Roast beef and trimmings, and chicken. Was told beef comes pink which was fine by me. Very pleased when food arrived. perfect meat, home made yorkies and crispy roast pots in a good gravy, and a side dish of perfectly cooked veg. My partner (who's not into 'greens') even wolfed her kale down declaring it was the best meal she had ever had. I'm not going that far, but as a Sunday lunch disciple - this was the top for me and worth every penny. Well done Station. Such a shame you don't do them daily.

we had a meal knowing it was not going to be cheap but the appearance outside beligns the appearance inside which was exemplary. They had strict Covid policy in place , unlike others and enforced it !! much to the clear annoyance of some customers, not us. Meal was excellent , I had steak. They were dog friendly. Car parking with a motorhome was no issues and not too much food but very adequate fare. I would recommend

My partner and I booked a table on the eat out to help out scheme! We were greeted with a warm welcome and served efficiently.Very hard decision when the menu came, I would have loved to try it all! Both our meals were absolutely faultless from starter to desert. (the girls gave me doggy bag for 1/2 my burger, if I finished it I would have been too full for desert. I wasn't leaving without a sweet) Could not fault a single thing! Amazing! lovely team and it was a pleasure to dine here. I actually felt like we were robbing them once the bill came, would happily have paid double for the standard we recieved! we will be back-to try the rest of that menu!

Tonight we had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed every course, very calming atmosphere and reasonably priced.

Best steak and stillton pie ever, exelent meal, exelent service, great atmosphere, glad to see it open again after lockdown, the best place to eat

Lasagne was over cooked & not value for money(top layer was like cardboard)and was a small portion, steak pie was overcooked causing it to be dry with no gravy offered to accompany! Stew was chewy and tasteless, and there were many items not available on the menu. Family of 5 and only 2 were happy with their meals, overall overpriced for basic home cooking. Staff appeared oblivious!

We had a great Sunday roast here after reading about the renovated Station in DG Life mag. Absolutely beautiful, with crusty, caramelised yet tender roast beef and super selection of roast veg with lush gravy, followed by sticky toffee pud. A real treat to get this quality locally. We will definitely be back. Thanks chef, Abi, Robyn and all the staff.

Lovely cosy pub and our meal was delicious we wanted a light lunch and were not disappointed I had the egg and tomato mayo wrap. And my niece had chicken bacon and salad wrap with home made crisps as a side. We followed it with cappuccino and tea which had a bite size piece off rocky road and even this was delicious we will definitely be back. The menu had a good variety and the staff were friendly

Having travelled through Kirkpatrick Fleming several times, today we decided to stop at "The Station" it was a series of impressive surprises, clean, tidy and an impressive decor. Staff were courteous and professional, excellent table service, good range of drinks at reasonably prices, but the level and quality of food was truly outstanding, I can't praise this eatery enough! The owners have clearly made a massive investment and it shows, this type of local pub needs support and I'm sure this one will be hugely successful, it will now become our "local". If you're travelling on the M74 skip Gretna Services and stop here, you and your wallet will be pleasantly surprised! I'm being taken there for my Birthday, lucky me!!

This “pub” was an extremely convenient and welcome find for dinner when staying at the neighbouring Meadows B & B in Kirkpatrick Fleming. Emailed in advance to book and they responded very promptly. Just as well we booked as it was very busy (Saturday night). It has been very well refurbished - looks like a pub from the outside and has “booths” a bit like a railway carriage. All tables set out for dining though - only bar stools for drinking. The chef used to work for Heston Blumenthal which is apparent in the menu with some innovative dishes but not stupidly expensive. We had delicious home made crisps for nibbles followed by fish dishes - I had salmon and mackerel in cream sauce with pasta which was lovely. Had a bit of a wait for them to take our food order - turned out there were some issues in the kitchen which they explained later. This is just a minor niggle but would have been even better if they’d explained that at the outset. Overall, highly recommended!

We went on the 14th Feb 2020, they were 4 in our group and we booked the Valentine Menu, and it was great, the surrounding were lovely, plenty room on our table for 4, the staff were very efficient, smart and knowledgable, the food was brilliant, it was a very lovely night and I can’t wait to test there other menu’s, we will be back soon.

The Station has always been a top choice for food for me and friends, from lovely staff to the choice of really good, freshly made food. I'm vegetarian and the choice of food has always been good, as well as having treats for my dog, Izzy. Robyn and Abi are fab!

Lovely pub, both cosy and stylish. The new team have done a fabulous job and are so welcoming and friendly, they couldn't do enough for us. The food was the main reason we will be back..... Really surprised by how lovely the menu choices and quality was considering the very modest price. The vegetable tempura is fantastic and we also loved the halloumi. I came here with my family and my dog, Robyn. I was greeted with amazing service by Abi, and was provided with all the specials. The food was amazing cooked to perfection and the customer service, impeccable !!! Would definitely recommend and come again! Thank you x x

Six of us ate lunch here and everyone's meal was delicious. The decor is new and welcoming and the staff just lovely.

Upon entering this restaurant we were met with a wave of extreme friendliness .The Station has undergone a massive refurb' and is Ultra Modern in EVERY sense of the word .

We have visited The Station quite a few times. Always felt very welcome by all of the staff. The food is exceptional. The Sunday lunch is one of the best you’ll find anywhere. The portions are very generous meaning we’ve never managed a pudding.

First visit to the recently reopened Station. Friendly non-intrusive staff good menu well cooked food and well presented. Comfortable warm surroundings will certainly be back....a welcome addition for a really good meal.

Had lunch here last weekend. We made a reservation and mentioned we were bringing a dog and we were easily catered for. The staff are warm, friendly and attentive.

My husband and I visited The Station for dinner on a cold Tuesday evening, we were quickly warmed by the pleasant atmosphere inside. The place has been modernised and refurbished to such an extent I struggled to picture the former incarnation. It has a lovely friendly ambience, Abi and her team work hard to deliver a great experience.

We were recommended to call in at The Station en route to Scotland from Suffolk and we were not disappointed. Just a short detour from the main A74 this is an excellent hostelry for the traveller looking for something special. I love Scotch egg but the chef’s Signature Hen’s Scotch egg was special. I followed it with a delicious locally-sourced venison steak, and my wife had Crispy Fish Balls of smoked mackerel and prawns to start, followed by a lovely pasta dish. This is a young and enthusiastic team. Abi and her front of house colleagues were most welcoming and the railway theme has been well executed. Top marks to Sam, the chef, for an interesting and delicious feast. One small suggestion: the food deserves a slightly longer wine list.

I brought my girls, 12 & 6 to The Station for my birthday dinner. The staff were warm and accommodating. I am gluten free and the options were many! Totally recommend if you are nearby! The food was so nice and there was nothing to complain about!

This was a real treat to find this pub, newly refurbished and locally owned the food and ambience did not disappoint. We liked it so much we visited twice. The Chateaubriand was a nice surprise on the menu, the mushroom risotto with chicken was a joy and the puddings did not disappoint either, the chocolate delice and the fruit crumble with an oat topping were delicious. The staff were so happy and friendly and the icing on the cake was that it was dog friendly with doggy treats for sale too. A definite must if you are in the area, and worth travelling to for a lovely evening if you are not.

Had my first meal here, and ordered the venison, it was cooked to perfection, superb, made me want to eat it all again, then I followed it with apple crumble with ice cream, again this was excellent, you can also have this with custard, which is another favourite of mine, 12 out of 10 for the food and service, I will definitely be eating here again

We were a group of 9 ladies and we chose lots of different plates for our meal at 6pm. The staff were very nice and professional. The restaurant is small but the way the tables were arranged everyone had plenty of room. Food was delicious!!!! . You are not rushed. Outside of the building decorated to high standard.

Warm welcome for three small children and three addults.Comfortable seating and staff friendly and helpful. Food simply perfect and presentation first class. Toilets immaculate with complimentary toiletries. Attention to detail with the most amazing train commissioned especially for the station.

If your staying in the area this is a must for a drink or food. The pub has been refurbished to a high standard with staff & food to match. We had 2 courses with a bottle of wine at outstanding quality & value. As the title says it was stunning! We most certainly will be back when in the area and highly recommend to everyone.

Before you even walk into the front door you are greeted by a recently totally refirbished hotel with new paintwork, gardens and Stephenson's rocket like locomotive. On entering the hotel the immediate impact is of elegance. Fantastic fit-out recreating a train setting decorated in tartan. Modern bar is highlighted with an inbuilt light display and the tv when not on doubles as a mirror.

We (a group of 4) people had a lovely evening meal here. We were invited by friends and having never been here before, either with previous owners or new we were totally open and without bias. I have to say we were blown away by the standard of service and food. It is the sort of place where you are unsure to leave a glowing review, just in case it then becomes too busy for you to get in!! The staff really were smashing, attentive, without being overbearing and at no time did we feel either rushed or left hanging. The food was well prepared, not over seasoned with masses of salt like so many other restaurants but flavourful and extremely well presented. The menu was varied and had many gluten free options, clearly stated on the listing. There was vegan and veggie options, also dish and catch of the day.

The Station was recommended to us by a friend and we celebrated our wedding anniversary there last Friday night. We are so glad we did!

We were booked in on Saturday night with a party of 9 adults and six children, we were given printed menus during the week before, as we had to preorder our food. Our table was booked for 7:30 , we arrived shortly beforehand and after a lengthy wait at the bar we were served drinks, upon sitting at our table we waited an hour and a quarter for our main course to arrive, which is far to long for hungry kids to be expected to sit and wait, so the whole preorder thing was a complete waste of time as it didn’t speed up the service at all!! food itself was very tasty, but the portions were on the small side, especially the children’s burger(from the children’s menu) you could have literally eat it in one bite, table service was ok , although we were never asked once by the waitress if we would like more drinks, , GOOD FOOD, SMALL PORTIONS LONG LONG WAIT!

Had a family lunch here. I had the Fish & Chips. Friendly staff who were really helpful with my allergies. Food was 10/10. Everyone really enjoyed their food. Menu was varied and had something for everyone. Newly refurbished the place looks fantastic. Really clean and well presented. Overall will definitely be back ASAP!

Called in last night to have a bite to eat as we were staying in the B&B; behind (the Meadows) anyway advised to book so we popped in to be told we could come back for 7pm which we duly did. No starters but hubby has the Galloway Burger which he really enjoyed and I had pan fried calves liver which was served with tender stem broccoli and delicious mash and jus it was so tasty. We left room for dessert of course hubby had sticky toffee pudding which didn’t touch the sides and I had a lovely rhubarb crumble with custard. The venue has only been open a month the decor is delightful clean and very pleasant there is a mix of tables and booth style or railway carriage style seating which looks great. All staff were most helpful and pleasant and I would be more than happy to have another meal in this little gem

Great first visit to the Station. Not sure what it was like previously but has been refurbished to a high standard and has great service to match. Staff were friendly and dealt well with our inpatient kids. Was pretty busy when we visited early on a Tuesday and lots of bookings were being made so would recommend reserving if you want to guarantee a table. Excellent value kids menu and top quality food all round. Will be back soon.

We had a meal here last night and we loved our food. I had the duck breast and my partner had fish of the day (swordfish) and they were both cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. Not many places get everything right but this place does. The staff are smiley and helpful. I would highly recommend. It won’t be long till we return.

Kid's menu had little choice, my boys ordered macaroni cheese which came in a small terrine the size of a cat dish, we had to order side dishes for them. I had 'Cumberland' sausage which was ordinary sausage covered in gravy so you couldn't taste it. Was all well cooked and the staff were good. The place itself was clean and freshly refurbished.

Ate at the Station 3 times whilst on our silver anniversary break,e got to know Abi and her colleagues over the week, their attention to detail and attitude were second to none.

Midweek, dull and wet night. Was turned away as fully booked and long wait, restaurant wasn’t even near half full with lots of empty tables! Thought a newly re-opened business would want the business.

Up seeing family had a meal here was outstanding very nice will be going back again next time we are in the area

Literally a brand new establishment, lots of additions to old building and refurbished to a very high standard with a welcoming staff and superb atmosphere. The furnishings are very comfortable and classy, The menu is extensive and caters for all tastes with a chef who has worked with Heston Blumenthal and has yet to show his true talent! Meals as you would expect are very well presented, fantastic taste (desserts rich but not sickly) and the staff are very attentive and considerate. All in all, a very pleasant visit that will definitely be repeated! CANNOT RECCOMEND HIGHLY ENOUGH!

The Station Inn is once again closed and empty. Varying local rumours that the place has been bought and being renovated but no imminent opening date and no concrete information.

Sábado por un rato antes de cualquiera vino a tomar platos y no me dieron la oportunidad de tener un postre o un café como ella simplemente desapareció con nuestros platos. Nos dio este lugar otra oportunidad pero la misma. No recomendaría este lugar.

Como estábamos en un sitio de campamento, fue una elección obvia para la cena.

Prueba este sitio! La gente no ha tenido muy largo. Leímos las críticas y pensamos que nos daría una oportunidad. No estaban equivocados. Es fantástico. La comida es para morirse y en 2 cursos para 10 libras ¿por qué ir a ningún otro sitio. Tuve sobresaliente y cubierto el plato. Servicio con una sonrisa y los pasteles eran para llevar a casa. Paramos aquí en forma de Escocia ya que está justo al lado de la autopista. Pedí una pinta de Belhaven, ya que era una de las cervezas de barril y me dijeron que no había cerveza sólo latas. Probé una. No es el mismo proyecto. En el bar era un arreglo al azar de pasteles tartas y pan para la venta. Muy extraño

1 Visita a la calle desde la estación Inn ha reabierto. El nuevo propietario ha arreglado muy bien el lugar. El menú era comida típica de pub. Las comidas estaban bien cocinada y presentada y relación calidad-precio.

Precioso almuerzo de domingo! Estaba muy tranquilo cuando visitamos como los nuevos propietarios son simplemente entrar en el ritmo de las cosas! ! No se puede quejar de la comida o el servicio. Ambiente muy agradable y acogedor. Sin duda volveremos! ! Una ventaja adicional es que la selección de tartas caseras, se puede comer o para llevar! !

Popped in lunch time last week, Cumberland sausage was absolutely spot on. Nice staff and great prices especially for the amount you get as well. will be back.

First time we had tried here for lunch, but saw great reviews so we were optimistic. Staff were friendly but place was quiet, so they had time to be friendly. Looked forward to some great food but were disappointed. It was not very hot and was pretty bland. We left most of it, didn't order a sweet and just left. Won't be back.

Domingo almuerzo para nosotros hoy en día, la comida era deliciosa, la carne estaba cocinada a la perfección y el acompañamiento de verduras y patatas, yorkshires eran buenas. El servicio era excelente, nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos y nos registramos nos quedamos muy contentos con todo. Los postres eran excelentes y me marché muy satisfechos y contentos.

Came back after new management & a very big change with food. It was empty when we arrived but waited 1hr + for food. Meat dishes were ok but the veg & chips & fish were frozen, complete opposite to previous owner. I did give my comments at the time but don't expect previous quality of food. Shame.

Called in to the station for a well deserved pint after renovating my aunts cottage, we did not have a meal but had some home made chips with a lovely well kept pint of larger, the landlord and landlady were lovely people.The locals in the bar were great very friendly and helpful would make it my local but it's a bit to far to travel from south wales Lovely to meet such nice people, If we ever return we would love to try the food as the menu looked lush.

Came here for a family get together. Glad we had booked a table as it was very busy. A large selection of starters and mains to choose from. I had the excellent haggis on mushroom (very tasty), my wife and sister had mushrooms in Stilton sauce which she is still raving about. Mains were steak pie, Cajun spiced chicken burger, salmon, chicken and haggis and Thai red curry. No complaints from anyone only praise. Sweets were also excellent and mouthwatering. Only complaint was the service was a bit slow but who's in a rush? Only heard about this place lately and been twice, both times excellent food. Sad to hear that the owners are now moving on to pastures new but if the food is as good there as it was at the Station we will definitely give it a visit. One other little thing is your prices are to CHEAP!!!!

as local residents we always take our families to dine when they visit as they request it. you could not get a better choice in a 5 star restaurant sadly Chris and Alison are leaving shortly for pastures new, you will be sadly missed, so thanks again for some wonderful food

We had a meal here as we were looking for somewhere to have a meal after our wedding at Mill Forge. There was 4 of us dining and we were all impressed with the quality of the food. The service we received was really excellent and the food was superb. It is so cosy and you are made to feel right at home. We have booked tables to have our wedding meal here as it was so good. The choice of food is great, caters for everyone. The price is very reasonable. We have had number of questions regarding our meal and nothing is too much trouble for them all our requests have been met without question. I can't wait to share this little pub with family and friends and I just know they are going to love it too.

We stayed with family this week and they'd spoken highly of the Station Inn before our visit, we looked forward to eating there and were not disappointed.As we perused the menu, the wine list was pointed out to us - a great selection to choose from and at a fantastic price - all bottles were a set price of £11.99 (including Ogio and Wairau Cove) or £3.30 for a standard glass. I also noticed they had a wide selection of non-alcoholic drinks including Brew Dog non-alcoholic beer, non-alcoholic Koppaberg and Shloer.The menu is extensive, with starters being priced at around £5 and mains at around £9. I have coeliac disease and so have to be very cautious when I eat out. The proprietors were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and pointed out all of the suitable options for me. I ordered the Thai chicken curry and before I could ask about the suitability of the poppadom that came with the meal, the landlady (who is also the chef) advised that it would also be fine for my diet - they really know their stuff.The food is all freshly prepared on the premises and although there is plenty on the menu to choose from, they also had a specials board.I had the prawn and smoked salmon starter followed by the Thai chicken curry and the crispy yet chewy raspberry pavlova - it was all absolutely brilliant, so much so that we went back the following evening and I enjoyed a bountiful portion of garlic shrimps and a flavoursome sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection.When we next visit our family down in Kirkpatrick-Fleming we will be looking forward to visiting the Station Inn once again - it's easy to see why it is so popular.

The Station Inn was recommended by our B&B as a good local spot. We found it delicious. We had a steak dinner and the beef and stilton pie. Both were excellent. Really well done. Service was fast and friendly, the food and wine were reasonable and overall one of the best meals we've had in UK. No frills, no pretense just delicious food.

The best food by miles, very nice pub, nice proprietors and extremely friendly. The food is all home cooked and hot and we would never go anywhere else.

Forgot just how good this little gem is, perhaps not the most luxurious so it doesn't automatically come to mind when heading out to dine, but comfortable, friendly, clean and when you taste the food, you actually kick yourself for not remembering this. Six of us ladies dining today, we had very diverse meals and not a complaint amongst us, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! I noticed a trip advisor sign of excellence 2015 on the window when leaving, so in my opinion that is the least they deserve for 2016! Thank you lovely meal, great ambience and we will be back vey soon.

After reading all the excellent reviews (apart from 1 dubious review from js1503 2yrs ago).!!!, I decided to take my wife for Lunch to the Station Inn, I had the Steak Pie It was all homemade to order and excellent. My wife had ham and eggs with home made chips -The portions were a good size and the staff are super friendly. I was really glad we came in for real, not packaged, food and great value too.I can honestly say we thoroughly enjoyed our meal in comfortable surroundings which could only be described as spotless, what a refreshing change from the normal Pub Grub.Well done and in the words of "Arnie I will be back".

Have been here before when passing but had trouble finding it was so glad I made the effort had the tasting of pork was amazing so tasty wife had steak pie lots of melt in the mouth pieces of steak, great service, tasty food spot on

A dark miserable November evening and the guest house owners suggested the Station Inn. Great home cooked food complete with bread and butter pudding. Very affordable as well. Building decor is a bit drab, but full of quirky signs and information of the horrible train disaster of 1915 which killed over 150 people..

Went to the Station Inn for lunch today on our way home from Scotland. Lovely home cooked food.. We all had steak pie which came with veg and chips and it was lovely. We all then had a pud,, I had the raspberry and blueberry crumble with custard which was really nice,, my husband had home made brownie and my son had ice cream.. We all cleared out plates!! We then finished the meal with a cafetier of fresh coffee, just what we needed to start on our journey again.. So glad we stopped here rather than the services.. We would go out of our way to visit again..

Brilliant little stop off close to the motorway. Seven hungry people on tour were very happy with the food, drinks and welcome. Proper pub with tasty food.

Best pub food I have had in a very long time. Excellent & friendly service. Really does not look much from the outside and was a wonderful surprise.

We were staying in the area and came upon this by chance. What a wonderful little place, Food and service were excellent. It was so good we went back a second time, Really would recomend this place. I wouldnt say it was a restraunt but an excellent pub with brill food

Found this place while killing time, staying nearby. Looked at menu and decided to come back for dinner: lots of 'homemade' on the menu. It was dead inside on a Tuesday with quite new yet traditional decor. The food was excellent. The menu is limited but I think all homemade. Brie parcels with chilli and tomato chutney (homemade) and a sirloin steak, homemade chips, mushrooms, properly cooked tomatoes, peppercorn sauce and real fresh veg in butter - carrots broccoli and leeks - with homemade braised red cabbage too. It was all excellent, restaurant quality food. The steak was actually properly cooked medium rare too, normally steaks are always slightly overdone. I was impressed. Very unassuming place but a proper gem. Highly recommended.

We stayed in a nearby B&B and our host recommended we eat at The Station Inn. The food was exceptional. I must say, it doesn't look much from the outside but everything happens on the inside! The staff and clientele are very friendly and the service is very good. We enjoyed hamburgers, ale pie and chicken fillet wrapped in prosciutto. Our meals were delicious and of generous portions. We were so full we couldn't fit in dessert. Insert sad face here. All for 40 pounds. Amazing value. This really is a little gem.

On a family holiday to nearby 'Robert the Bruce...Caravan Site' ...we visited this local pub....the food was amazing.....starter of shrimps in chilli and garlic butter and steak and ale pie .....my 7 year old daughter just loved their home made pizza and chips..... puddings were to die for...... chef has to be commended. ....what a little gem of a place....highly recommended xx

My wife and I visited The Station Inn again, and on this occasion my wife chose the Belly Pork and I had the slow cooked Beef in Stilton Cheese - both were extremely tasty and satisfying. The red cabbage with the vegetables makes this such a complimentary addition to any meal - especially at The Station Inn!

Found this pub on trip adviser on a trip up Scotland close to motorway warm welcome good fresh food taste homemade puddings will be calling again on way home!

This has got to be one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The food was wonderful. I had the pork belly and to say it was good is an understatement, the red cabbage was sublime. One of the other party had the chicken and the other two had the scampi and not a scrap was to be seen left on their plates nor mine. We had four main meals four glasses of wine and four coffees and it was under sixty pounds so really good value for money. This place is a little gem!!

Visited our local Village Pub after a recommendation by a friend and was not disappointed. Although it was a busy Saturday night, we were welcomed by the hosts and within 10 - 15 minutes had been served and were tucking into our starters. Main course followed and we weren't disappointed, both were excellent. The value for money was good and we will be visiting again soon. Highly recommended!

Although this pub looks quite old fashioned, don't be put off, the food and service were excellent today. We had rib of beef and belly pork, followed by lemon meringue, raspberry pavlova and sticky toffee pudding - all delicious, will definitely be back! Thank you.

Called in tonight. Booked in advance which we just as well as they were pretty much full up.My wife and I both had the garlic and chilli shrimps. Perfect!Then I had steak cobbler, my wife scampi. Both excellent with lovely home cooked chips and veg. My wife had lemon meringue pie and I had one of the best cheese plates ever. Wonderful selection of unusual cheeses. Great service and very reasonable prices. Will definitely be back!!!

Had evening meal whilst staying at nearby Broadlea B&B. Easy to locate from B&B and food was very pleasant and staff welcoming.Home cooked ham was especially good.

Called in on recommendation and trip advisor reviews, great food, friendly staff and great price. Will visit again for sure.

As other reviewers said looks nothing from the outside.I think from the reviews I was just expecting too much thinking it would have character and be cosy. Very basic and functional inside but it was clean and the toilet good. The landlord was very pleasant, service prompt and efficient, food alright but main course nothing special, pudding was delicious though. For the price ok if your passing and need to eat but don't go expecting a special experience.

Visited 11/7/15 very good meal very friendly staff and will definitely be back . Stunning location and was very quiet loved it .
