The Station Hotel in Angus

I always enjoy staying here, the food is always excellent and my room as always was very clean and warm. Would recommend to anyone looking to eat and for Bed and Breakfast in Carnoustie.

Attempted to visit this establishment after a nice walk along the seaside with family and friends at lunchtime. We found it highly embarrassing when the rather rude lady on the bar said dogs are allowed, but a 10 month old baby wasn't allowed. Steer well clear if you are planning on visiting with a family. To think they value animals over another human being is a disgrace. If you want a family friendly pub we would recommend the Kinloch Arms just around the corner.

Stayed for one nights B and B. Room was clean with pleasant decor. Staff were friendly, helpful and available. I've eaten here before and the lunch/dinner is a traditional menu but well prepared from good quality ingredients. Its (rightly) a popular venue so booking recommended for dinner on Thursday-Sunday. Breakfast was also very good - a choice of a fry-up or Arbroath smokies. My only criticism is that it would have been nice to see some Scottish ingredients in the fry-up (tatty scones / haggis or black pudding). The hotel has a busy public bar (with a really nice snug). We didn't hear any noise from the bar - but some of the customers were a bit noisy when leaving. Great value.

Great food and lovely location. Good pub next door for a drink. Had fish and chips plus Lasagna was really good. Will deffo return for a visit

Lovely meal. Great choices, attentive friendly efficient staff. Very reasonable prices. Been here several times- it never disappoints. Lovely selection of dishes. Good sized portions. Staff very nice (especially Bryan this time!) fast service. Lovely dining room. Wouldn’t go anywhere else in the area. Looking forward to our next visit! We had haggis Bon bons, Arbroath smokie pate, lentil soup, homemade steak pie, curry, steak mince followed by apple cream with custard & cream! All superb!

We keep coming back and often bring friends. The food is fresh and well cooked and presented. The staff are efficient and pleasant.

Popped in for a meal - warmly welcomed. Served promptly by lovely staff. Homemade steak pie followed by sticky toffee pudding. All lovely & reasonably priced. Never disappointed at this hotel - will definitely be back & would highly recommend.

Brian at reception was ever so helpful. My mom and I arrived here from edinburgh (we traveled from Canada as I'm studying here abroad for 2 years). Due to festivals and high traffic we needed to change itinerary as we needed to be closer to the university for my induction and matriculation. Brian was so helpful in assisting us by calling Expedia and helping us transfer our reservations elsewhere to accommodate us. He was very professional, helpful and friendly. We are very thankful. Thank-you Brian!!!

High tea is a proper dinner overflowing plate. Irn Bru to wash it down suits me! Mince n tatties, swede. All of the family were happy.

Just had a two night family break at the Station Hotel and could not fault it from start to finish. The family room was perfect for us. We had our 6 year old granddaughter who was fascinated by the trains passing by. The Breakfast was very nice plain simple and no fuss. We will definitely be returning and would recommend this hotel

Stayed overnight and is never a 3 star hotel, the room window had condensation as it could not open and it was the hottest day in June so was boiling all night. The skirting boards and doors were filthy and there was a layer of dust on the chest of drawers. The shower was covered in mildew and there was clumps of hair on the inside of the shower. If I didn’t have a glass of wine when I arrived then I would have left and driven home. I did complain when I was checking out and didn’t even get an apology from the female who checked us out.

Arrived on the Friday afternoon,Danielle welcomed us and informed us of the times food was served till. Motorbikes were parked in the car park, and we had no worries leaving them there overnight. Rooms were clean and tidy. Breakfast was freshly cooked,hot, and very tasty. Thank you, Station Hotel.

Stayed overnight , on a work trip. Excellent location and parking. Warm , informative welcome on arrival. Large room with sea view...if you squinted out the window! Had everything you needed , including one of my favourites ... huge bath towels! However the picky amongst us, would have liked more comfortable chairs than the "ballroom" ones, but there were two, always a bonus. Decor almost made it but a few tweeks would lift the room from basic to really good. Everything just about matched , not close enough but not awry enough to be arty! The floor in the shower room was HUGELY squeeky, which I liked...some may not. Food very good, fair vegetarian choice. Generous portions, as were those at breakfast. Overall a great choice at an affordable price. AND close to beach!

Always great food and friendly, efficient service at The Station. A good varied menu and the food is always well prepared and presented. Some menu items are available in smaller portions for those who prefer. We make this a regular lunchtime spot.

The Station is very dated,as is the menu. We were put into a 'dining room' that felt plain wrong,pretty sure it was a partitioned function suite. The menu is boring and has no soul at all,it's time to step into the 21st century

Had a delicious lunch with my family. The Station has a well-deserved reputation for quality and consistency. We enjoyed the fish and chips and macaroni cheese. Generous portions and piping hot. Service from Rose was as friendly as always! It was great to be back.

Stayed in this hotel , very friendly and welcoming. Good atmosphere in bar and restaurant. Food was excellent. Room was well equipped . Parking facilities available at hotel. We will be back in the Spring .

The Station Hotel has the best food! We always visit when on holiday in Carnoustie and this week we have eaten there twice. The chicken broth tonight was to die for! An absolute treat! The staff are all so nice & so friendly. Always smiling...

I had a wonderful 4 nights at the Station Hotel, my first visit back there since the pandemic, lovely comfortable room, breakfast and evening meals were superb and staff cannot do enough to assist.

We had a lovely family meal with generous portions and just good pub grub. The service was excellent and would highly recommend.

This is a pub with rooms. Noisy noisy noisy. Yes the trains we accept that but over the bar and next to a busy rd. It’s a very warm night so we need to have windows open and the hotel!!!! cannot supply a fan ....

Very nice little hotel with very helpful and service minded staff. The bartender even stayed behind to hand me the keys since my arrival was delayed and after the front desk was closed.

We had dinner here twice. I had salmon and Gordon had beef olives. the food was delicious, hot and a full plate with fresh vegetables. So good we went twice.

Had 2 substantial meals with my partner here. First class food and top drawer service. Served piping hot on warm plates and it won’t empty your bank account. Well worth a trip for a cracking dinner.

I visited the Station Hotel in Carnoustie with friends for a Christmas lunch. From start to finish the constant attentiveness, fabulous food and beautiful surroundings did not disappoint. Im just sorry I haven’t been here before and will be certainly booking again when COVID restrictions...

Carnoustie’s finest gathering point.My wife and I called in here prior to being in prisoned again. Thankfully there was no sign of any tears (tiers) here the banter was good as you’d expect of Scottish folk soon to be facing adversity. The lovely Eve kept us fed and watered. Once draconian rules have been lifted we intend to walk from Monifieth again to avail of this finest Carnoustie gathering point.

Right by the station and with parking around the back. Because of new lockdown measures they said there was no food or drink after 6 (which didn’t apply to hotels serving guests so I am not sure why they weren’t serving). The room was a lovely size with good facilities and a big comfy bed. Breakfast was also delicious. Really good value and an excellent stay but never did find out why I couldn’t get an evening meal.

Went here during the Eat out Scheme. Food was excellent and the gentleman serving us was lovely. Think his name was Brian! Steak pie a winner. Will definitely be back.

Had a lovely family meal at teatime at the Station Hotel during a short break in Carnoustie. Chose this restaurant in advance having looked at menu online and read the good reviews! Delighted with my choice!There is an extensive menu with lots of family/pub favourites. Good kids menu too. So something for everyone!We loved our starters - prawn cocktail and breaded mushrooms. Mmm, can't beat the old favourites. Very generous portions. The steak pie is a favourite here. It is not difficult to see why. Three of us had it and it was amazing 10/10! Lots of lean, tender, chunky steak topped with pastry and served with carrots, peas and chips. Unfortunately my photo doesn't do it justice as there's a blob of tomato sauce in the middle!My youngest child is between adult and children's portion sizes. So the waiter kindly gave her a child's portion of macaroni with an extra helping on the side which she devoured. We had no room for dessert apart from the kids meal ice cream!Would highly recommend the Station Hotel for food. Staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble for them. Really nice with kids. Hotel has a lovely little bar too which I am sure is normally bustling! Hopefully we'll be able to enjoy a glass of red wine with our steak pie next time we come to Carnoustie.

We recently spent a couple of day’s in Carnoustie staying at a hotel 10 mins away. The food here came highly recommended. Plenty space between tables. I had the curry & my husband had the steak pie. Excellent quality. Service was good. Highly recommended.

We had been wanting to try The Station Hotel for a while, we were not disappointed. It’s very difficult to find great home cooking , good portion size and a nice atmosphere but The Station has it all and great for children too. The steak pie was fantastic, best we have had. They have a children’s menu but they offer 1/2 portions of the main menu for children too. We didn’t have dessert but they looked great. Due to the current Covid situation they are following all guidelines, temperature taken on arrival , hand sanitizer, the use of masks by all staff, tables are spaced out and are being cleaned after each party and they also have signage in place. This makes for a safe evening out in a difficult situation. If you haven’t been go. We will be most definitely back again. Thanks to you all at The Station for a lovely meal on a very dark & rainy Saturday night.

We attended here for a meal after reading the reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed! From the minute we walked in we were made to feel welcome. Very friendly staff which makes the visit all the more enjoyable.To add the food was also very good especially the steak pie.I would also like to mention that during the current Covid situation the Station Hotel appear to have nailed it, some tables not in use to allow social distancing and the staff are keeping their distance and reminding customers about face coverings when they are walking about Overall great experience and we would highly recommend this restaurant

Visited last night ..Tues .. with hubby . We were staying at the big hotel down the road dinner included first night so I checked trip advisor to see recommendations and the station was what I came across . As we drove to the big hotel we saw the station so I ran in and booked a table . On arrival our temperature s were taken and shown to our table . Staff were lovely food was wonderful ..prawn cocktail and steak pie superb. Hubby had breaded mushrooms and chicken curry and polished off sticky toffee of course I had a taste and all was good . There were a couple of tables of guys in clearly golfers who were noisey and having a great time didn't bother us it felt great to be in an atmosphere were everyone was enjoying themselves for a change instead of hearing about doom and gloom . Great place to eat nice surroundings lovely staff will definitely go back when next in carnoustie . Good job station hotel well done .

We booked into the hotel for a four night break and ate in the restraunt every night. Between the three of us we tasted just about everything on the menu over the course of the week! It was all excellent; the steak pie particularly stood out and my husband much apprectiated the steak mince. The breaksfasts were also excellent with plenty of choice.

My wife and I booked the Station for a evening meal. We received a warm welcome from the staff who quickly took our temperature before being shown to our table. Although the restaurant was fairly busy out meals were soon served. I had the hotel special steak pie and was not disappointed. My wife went for the lasagna who said that it was one of the best she ever had.Like other reviews this must be one of the best restaurants in the area and will not hesitate to return.

This is by far the best pub in Carnoustie. The staff are lovely and friendly. Whilst the beer is always in tip top condition especially the cask Ales. The locals are also very friendly. Such a nice pub.

The steak pie is really homemade and not to be missed if you like that sort of thing. reasonably priced too. Very well located - next to the station and links.It is as much a pub as it is a hotel and restaurant - but it's none the worse for that.

We booked In here for dinner during our stay in Carnoustie. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who did a temperature check before we were shown to our table. Hand gel is also at the entrance. All current safety measures in place with only every second table being used.The menu had a good selection. The food was excellent, very generous portion sizes. Good prices too. The service was excellent, all staff very friendly and attentive. We will definitely return on our next visit to Carnoustie and would definitely recommend.Thanks Station Hotel for ensuring eating out Is a positive experience during these unusual times.

We were staying at the big hotel down the road but preferred the meals here, we had 2 dinners here and they were very tasty, we saw a few couples from the hotel eating here so they preferred it also, next time we visit we said we would use this hotel.

This was our first visit for an evening meal since lockdown. Our temperature was taken on arrival but this involved the member of staff coming a little closer than I would have liked as she was not wearing a mask. She advised us that she had asthma and found mask wearing difficult after a while, she showed us to our seat which was well socially distanced from others. A different person (Again with no mask) came to take our drinks order. Then a third unmasked waitress took our food order. I feel one person should be allocated a table and serve it alone, this would cut down any risk. The food was as good as ever but I won’t be rushing back for a while yet, or until the staff are able to mask up like I see in many other restaurants.

Our first time in Carnoustie since I was a child.My husband and I and our two daughters age 23 and 18 where looking for a light lunch, wasn’t disappointed. So much so we made a reservation for Thursday for dinner.Hotel very clean and following standards. Hotel lady owner so lovely and welcoming. Hotel steak pie absolutely beautiful and beautifully cooked steak. Staff very pleasant.Hotel in great location for town centre too and great walks and beach nearby.Would highly recommend.

After looking at several Wedding Venues in the Dundee/ Angus area we decided on the Station Hotel for our special day. There were several reasons for our decision but the main one being the honest friendly way we were received by Brian & Arlene. From day one they could not have been more helpful, whether it was to do with choosing the menu or organising the disco. We had taken all the Hotel Bedrooms which were of a good standard and all the guests that stayed for the weekend were most complimentary both about the good night's sleep and the breakfast not to mention the service from the long-suffering Bar staff !!! We were able to have the ceremony in the Hotel which was great as it kept the 50+ guests in one place and cut down the travelling for all concerned. There are a few options for photographs ie The Beach or as we decided on outside the Hotel.Arlene and her team did a fabulous job of dressing the tables and the set up was just as we wanted cosy but not cramped and definitely lite and bright. We had chosen to mix and match the menu from the options given and this was never going to be a problem with the very competent kitchen brigade, our guests pre-ordered there meal with the RSVP cards and it worked a treat.Brian was a wonderful Master of Ceremonies organising us but being unobtrusive, also kept the wine flowing and the foodservice unhurried but smooth and very efficient.The day function flowed seamlessly into the evening with the rooms easily coping with the extra 60 guests and the evening buffet was most appreciated by our evening friends. The Disco was an excellent choice playing to the assembled revellers and keeping all happy! The bar staff were first class and worked tirelessly to quench the thirst of the assembled group.All in all, we could not have chosen a better venue suited to our needs and given the present climate we were very fortunate to have chosen the 14th March for our Wedding as I would not be writing this had it been a few days later.We look forward to returning to the hotel in the future to enjoy your bar meals and first-class service.

The Station Hotel is very popular seemingly with what one might describe as a clientele of a 'certain age', and offers all the old Scottish favourites of soup, scampi, steak pie, macaroni, fillet of haddock etc. I had a steak, and I suppose that it was cooked in typically Scottish style - in that I asked for it to be 'rare', however it could be best described as being 'medium'. That said, it was very good and by far not the worst steak that I have ever had.The service was very good, and the food was a plenty. All in all, not a bad place locally to eat.

My family and I visited for my dads birthday meal. It was delicious and very filling, good portion sizes as well as a kids menu and they also do half portions. We had my niece with us who is 1 year old and the staff were excellent with her (especially the gentleman waiter working on the evening of 24/1/20), her meal was brought out earlier than the others as they could see she was restless. Staff were also really good at interacting with her and making her laugh (doesn’t happen very often at other places so we were delighted that the whole family were welcomed regardless of age). This was our first visit and we will definitely return.

The best steak pie for miles and service with a smile! Great prices and very full plates. Only thing is they don't serve after 8 pm but get there before and you won't regret it!

We had a family meal here. The food and service were both excellent. They have a kids menu and you can have half portions if not a big eater. We would definitely return.

Been here on plenty of occasions but only for drinks. Staff are friendly. They sometimes do free food when there is football on which is a plus! Never been for food but always looks great.

My mum and I visited this restaurant for lunch as it was my birthday. I ordered a light lunch of chicken mayonnaise baked potato and my mum ordered steak pie.The steak pie lived up to its reputation and was absolutely delicious. A rich sauce with tender pieces of steak, topped with lovely pastry. The potato was well cooked and the chicken was yummy. It was no small portion either. The staff in this hotel are just wonderful, friendly and warm. We were made to feel very welcome. We will definitely be back.

My wife and l dropped into this hotel right by the train station on Saturday evening and decided to have a drink in the bar, before going into the lounge for an evening meal. Firstly thanks to the young bartender who carried our drinks from the bar and placed us at a table in the lounge area and providing us with menus.The meal was delicious (salmon with prawns on top) enjoyed by both my wife and l. Thanks also to the staff for the attentive service as we were just passing through, but will most definitely be back.

The wife and I stayed here for a meeting in monifieth. We couldn't get accommodation in monifieth and that's why we chose here. When we booked we were advised that there would be music till late. We had a spacious room which allowed us to spread our luggage about to our comfort. There is hotel car parking which made it easier to take in our luggage. The restaurant was fully booked so we ate in the bar. We had blackcurrant and water with little change out of £5 which we found expensive as we are used to paying £0.50 in five star hotels and some even give it for free. I had a prawn cocktail starter which was very fresh. To follow I had steak pie with all the trimmings which was very tender. The wife had gluten free roast beef again very tender. We did not have time to have a sweet but we were delighted with our mains. Breakfast was an excellent choice of fruit juices and cereals etc. and a hearty fry up to set you up for the day. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and would use it again.

Just returned from a fantastic golf trip (16 of us) The Station hotel was the perfect venue. Great place, comfortable rooms, very nice food, brilliant bar and atmosphere. Real ales. Very friendly and helpful staff. We will definately be comming back. Gary

Was at the Station Hotel Carnoustie last night for my Birthday meal The food was excellent and the service was excellent especially when I had sticky toffee pudding and the waitress brought it in with a candle on it singing Happy Birthday.Management should be very proud of the way they served us it was excellent plus.Thanks for making my night very special we will certainly be back

Our second visit to the Station while in Carnoustie and another good meal with good service. The veggie options could be extended and changed occasionally. It's a pity the vegan option is always a curry. Otherwise a very pleasant evening.

We booked a table for four and we were seated by the window in the main dining room which was very nice and clean . Linen tablecloths and good service added to the pleasant dining. The food choice was good and the Belhaven beer was excellent. The Salmon dish was well prepared. tasted delicious and the portions were large. As always the steak pie was stupendous. We will definitely return again when visiting Carnoustie.

Visited the hotel as a surprise weekend away for my wife for our upcoming anniversary the staff couldn't do any more for us and nothing was enough. We ate in the hotel one night of our stay and the food was amazing we couldn't ask for anything more. All in all I cant say a bad word about the hotel or restaurant and we will be back to visit again guaranteed. We will see you soon x

Attended for lunch with my mum and dad. We’re given a nice seat in the bar immediately. Staff were very attentive and we had drinks almost immediately. Lunch was very nice, went for the sandwich with chips which I was delighted to find were swapped for the salad rather than just an additional side order, although I could have had both if I desired. Food was good quality and generous portion sizes!

We visited here 4 times in the last week for our evening meal as we were on holiday. The menu was varied and good. This place is popular with local people which tells its own story. We had - the curry, salmon, sliced sirloin, chicken in a sauce and their thick lentil soup. All pretty good and very hot food and plates which is great! Prices seem average. Staff pleasant and helpful. Service was quick.

My family and I have been staying juat outside Arbroath on a weeks holiday/visiting family. We asked them where we could go for a great meal out before we went home. They suggested The Station Hotel, Carnoustie. The food was beautiful, especially the Steak Pie. Piping hot, crusty pastry and an abundance of filling accompanied by peas, carrots and a big portion of chips. The whole family enjoyed their mains and had room for dessert. Dessert was just as delightful as the mains. The service was great and we never felt like we were over staying our welcome. I would definitely visit again on my next journey to the area and would recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

Hubby and friends usually meet up and have lunch and a few pints. Best on the menu is definitely the beef olives with the steak pie a close runner up. Family feel hotel with the amazing staff. An absolute must👍

Took friends here for High Tea and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent choice on menu and glad to see the quality, quantity and taste of food is back to the original Station high standards. Efficient, friendly waiting staff. So pleased to see the Station 'back on track' and look forward to a return visit soon.

Had a lovely lunch and also returned at a later date for high tea. Quality and quantity of food excellent and freshly cooked. Good value for money. Waitresses welcoming and efficient and don't rush customers even when busy.

Following a walk on Carnoustie beach we needed to warm up and called for a coffee. The staff were exceptionally friendly and the facilities were brilliant. Had we more time we would have stopped for a meal but, given our reception, we'll definitely return for a meal in future.

Had an evening meal in the bar restaurant. Lovely clean hotel and food was delicious. I had baked ham and husband had the famous steak pie. Both were really delicious. Good prices too.

Great steak pie and the best boiled potatoes I've tasted in a long time. Friendly staff and a busy restaurant, always a good sign!
