An absolutely outstanding pub! I recently had the opportunity to attend a private event hosted in this incredible place, and what an amazing time it was! I moved over from the States to Suffolk about 5 months back, so I am still exploring England and its pubs. We had the luck to enjoy the Stag Inn on a recent trip to Hastings to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday. I loved the way they handed out drink coupons for party guests to get us started. I need a bit of a nudge as I'm not much of a drinker, so sidling up to the bar and picking out something I know I'll like is vastly preferable to a tub of beers on ice or house wine. The atmosphere was fun and festive, the decor and artifacts on the walls were incredibly cool, and the patio was so warm and welcoming with blankets and a nice cosy private space out back. The landlord and landlady of the pub were also super kind and hospitable to our family including our dog who loved hanging out in the pub all day. This is absolutely in the top tier of pubs I have visited since moving over to England this summer. I really love the ones with rich history and fascinating artifacts, especially when they come with kind and attentive service and a comfortable atmosphere. This ticks all the boxes and made for a memorable weekend away for our whole family, furbaby included. What an awesome venue to hire for an event!

Worth a walk up All Saints Street (a beautiful road in the old town with eclectic mix of houses dating back centuries) to visit this charming 16th century pub. Proper 'oldy worldy' Inn with lovely fireplace, great atmos and interesting artefacts (including mummified cats!...apparently tradition to place inside a wall to keep evil spirits away). Service from Rebecca was warm, friendly and welcoming. Didn't have food as stopped for a few drinks only, but menu did look excellent (and lamb, rosemary & garlic crisps were amazing). Definitely coming back!

This pub is absolutely fabulous, quietly located in the All Saints, it is the oldest pub in Hastings dating to c. 1547 with a well preserved building. The staff here is very friendly, it is chill and peaceful here, the garden is like a hidden treasure. Don’t miss the cat mummies, they are related to an interesting history of witches and rat controls in the town back in the 17th century.

An interesting menu. The complimentary Guinness and treacle bread with garam masala butter was so delicious - the crispy lamb ribs starter also but very spicy. Our mains were less interesting but still nice. The 80s music was too loud and detracted from the food. I would go back to try the taster menu on a Thursday.

We had the most fun in the most beautiful Pub in Hastings and surrounding area. A perfect night in a Pub steeped in History. A total joy. I almost wish I haven't shared this jewel because for sure you will go and I won't get a table. But you have to go and explore, experience, enjoy. My brother always likes me to book The Stag when he comes down from Oxfordshire to visit as it's his favourite pub, he enjoys the old fashioned quirky kind of pub with proper ale and good atmosphere. I was just going to book a table to drink.. thinking limited space so likely table service only still. BUT I then took a look at the summer menu! I find a lot of pubs menus rather on the boring side tbh and often have two starters instead of a main, more interesting usually. BUT this menu was incredible from start to finish... I even had a dessert which is most unusual as impossible to resist trying such different creations.. well done chef!! AND as for the service - only two poor souls, male and female.. serving a full pub for food and drink.. we were eating outside... well they couldn't have done a better job.. yes I had to wait at the door for a bit, and yes the food took a while.. but as has been said in the media, i think many people are taking their Covid frustrations out on others who are in straightened circumstances with few staff available simply doing their best. The staff could not have been better frankly, and despite being in a rush for the several hours we were there... managed to be convivial and help create a lovely atmosphere for all! With so many pubs going out of business, please do support this one... only tiny, and always trying hard with good live music and Boxing Day fun!
