Your true English country pub… not too fancy and wonderfully authentic! Had a great lunch there today, good food, lovely staff and great ambience, what’s not to like! We also loved the fact that they had sandwiches available at lunchtimes, if that’s what you fancy as opposed to a full meal, although the sandwiches were hearty too… desserts were delicious and just the right sized serving… 👌🏼🤗 Thank you again, we will be back for sure, and thank you for laughing with us!! 😁

Tucked away, peaceful, family, English country pub. You know a place is a hit when your children wish to return when asked where we should go for dinner! Our girls were so well looked after, and we were thoroughly taken care of. Delicious food, obviously (from the comment above) fantastic service and we are looking forward to return soon! This is a proper country pub! Big inglenook fire, cozy little bar room, nice restaurant area. Good food at reasonable prices in a beautiful village. Love it!

Fantastic country pub. Attended the Boxing Day meet which was a fabulous display of trail hunting within the law, a chance to meet friends and make new ones in a wonderful rural community. The staff were lovely and made for a great day. Will certainly return.

A superb catch up with so many friends at the annual Boxing Day trail hunt meet. Everywhere I turned there were locals enjoying a drink and supporting their rural pub. Everyone was welcomed by this quaint, friendly establishment and I thank them for hosting the meet. We will be back for dinner very soon.

Brilliant pub and fantastically well managed. A true West Sussex pub that has a high quality selection of drinks along with a great kitchen which serves fresh local sustainable produce. 10/10, everyone is welcome here no where you’ve traveled from.

Busy Boxing Day annual Boxing Day legal trail hunt. Visitors from far and wide all ages all pleasant and great weather Doug M I don’t know what pub you were at but there was no violence or threatening behaviour!!. Everyone I met or spoke to was friendly and courteous!! Maybe your view would change if you visited the pub they do a nice vegan burger have tried it !!

I entered this pub on Boxind Day and I was horrified to discover they were hosting a fox hunt. Fox hunters are cruel criminals who torture wildlife. Surely no respectable pub should welcome these shameful relicts from the past?

Incredible service from the landlord and his team, accommodating more than 30 of us for lunch after a walk. Very organised from. The ordering/bill point of view. Top service from all the staff. Delicious food, Good beer, Ideal location. What more could we have asked for? Will definitely be back!

This was a half way meeting point for Lunch with friends. We booked a table by the fire and arrived promptly at 1230. Our initial seating was not in line with our booking, however, that was quickly resolved with a table adjacent to a lovely open fire. From then things just got better. The service was charming and helpful with a nice but sensibly limited menu meaning that our choice was simple and quick. We opted for a Main & Desert with all 4 guests delighted with their choice. The food was both homely and very tasty. Equally, the Apple Crumble would be our preferred selection - particularly with Ice Cream & Custard! All very good value with a great pub atmosphere.

Just had a wonderful lunch here..seabass! My friend had the steak and kidney pie and said it was delicious too! Staff are lovely and nice old pub with a fire. Quite busy, even on a Wednesday.. so book ahead of you can. Nice garden and lots of seating outside too.

Was going to book my works Christmas do here but have since heard that they host the Leaconfield and cowdray hunt. Such a shame because the menu looked good but out of principal I could not spend my money in a pub that’s supports the ripping apart of foxes for sport. Obviously not animal lovers

I've stumbled upon this place twice now and it is yet to disappoint! Super quaint, lovely location with a really nice/quiet garden to the back along with its much more buzzy front area. We attended my friend's Father's funeral wake. Such a lovely traditional country pub run by a couple that care about their customers and Community. The food was plentiful and delicious.

A Good Find Brilliant find ! I needed a pub to meet with friends but we all live in different directions - Chichester, Guildford and Leatherhead, on searching for a good location I found The Stag Inn. On arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming, in this traditional old style village pub. Service was excellent and the food was of good quality and very reasonably priced. We chose the prawn and avocado sandwich which came with salad and good quality homemade chips - all for £10. If you need a good friendly pub which is a little off the beat and track then try this one, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Cannot wait to go back. Perfect fish for me and roasts for the family. Staff efficient and friendly. Bravo to you all, no niggles at all.

The owners are wonderful, the pub is cosy, nothing is to much trouble, the food and atmosphere are great! A real little gem in the beautiful countryside. Make sure you visit, an old fashioned pub that luckily still is thriving! We have never had a bad meal here in our past four years of visiting. Lovely crackling fires in winter time also!

We had a fantastic time at the Stag Inn! People were fun, we made new friends and laughed a lot. We lamented the passing of the Queen and toasted “Long live the King!”Having dogs with us paved the way as everyone here loved dogs. The wine and beer were great as well. We were too early for dinner, but I’m imagining that it would have been wonderful as well.

What a superb unspoilt pub just a couple of miles from the Petworth Road. Village pubs are closing at an alarming rate, however The Stag Inn has survived and appears to be very well supported by locals. We visited on a Monday evening and the pub was busy. The landlord was very friendly, (as were the other customers) and his beers were in absolutely perfect condition. Although this is a 40 mile round trip for us, we've already planned to return at the weekend

What a treat on Mother’s Day. Sunday lunch in this lovely old inn. The staff were so friendly and the food better than I had had for a long time. The gravy was to die for. Then we were lucky enough to have our desert in the sunny garden looking over countryside. A shame it’s not nearer so we could return sooner.
