Always go for a round in here when out, always great atmosphere mixed ages , usually get a seat/table . Show sports when on. Staff always on point with service, collecting glasses keeping on top of customer sevice:)

A great town pub, good beer and whiskies and very friendly and attentive staff. Great for sports lovers for the Tv's. It does though due to this very busy at times but enjoy going there when we can.

It was good. Staff very nice, and only went elsewhere as they no longer serve food here. A good place to go for a pint. Recommended.

Absolutely brilliant pub. In fact most of the pubs owned by this local al group are excellent, except for soul.

Went with a friend for lunch but no food service. Menu is still live on the website but it does say welcome back in March 2020 so it seems the owner has clearly taken their eye off the ball. Used to be a great place for daytime food but like many places in Aberdeen it just seems to have list it's shine.

Oh the stag, what a smashing place. If you don't like taxidermy, best keep both eyes on the road, but if you're a student of stuffing (so to speak) then cast your eyes to the heavens and be delighted. All sorts of creatures lovingly poached from their natural environments and displayed for your pleasure. I'm sure there was once a yeti up there but Tony claims it was just Chris Mackay with a stinking hangover. Nae meals but.

Went massively downhill in alot of peoples list of place's to go to since they stopped doing food.. A massive shame. Will not be revisiting nor will I go out my way to McGinty's

Came here for the first time for a weekday lunch. The bar was pretty empty and food was slow but good. Staff were friendly enough but the atmosphere was cold and quiet.

Went in last night for some food and a drink, place was filthy, I got the last table, it had been cleared but had not been cleaned, I sat for awhile before going up to the bar and asking for a food menu, a drinks menu and if the table could be cleaned. I got the food menu I was then told she could not find the drinks menu, she did however come over and clean the table, I ordered my food and as I was waiting I was just look around the place, the bases of the tables were covered in dust as was behind the bar hatch and the metal lights hanging from the ceiling were all covered in dust. I think it is terrible for an establishment that is serving food and drinks that is not clean. The food was ok, nothing amazing, have had better food elsewhere, quite pricey for what you get. I certainly will not be going back anytime soon.

We booked a table for 6.30pm on Saturday night for a meal for 4 of us on an itison voucher when we arrived there was no table reserved for us the place was full barman had a look to see if he could get a table for us but all tables full with people sitting having drinks it was really loud to be honest not the kind of place we would have liked to sit and have a meal looks nothing like it did on the website we decided just to leave and go else where we will never go back

Upon arrival the bar staff could not have been more helpful when my friend and I popped in for a bite to eat. Although it was busy for Monday night, a table was found for us and we were given some excellent advice on the menu. The burgers did not disappoint - fantastic classic pub food! We even had our own salt and pepper each 🤠

Such pubs are historical. Big but warm, crowded but comfortable. All great, staff, customers and drinks. Big TV on when it is Six Nations time.

Went here on a Friday with my family at 23:30 as it said it closed 01:00. At 00.00 last drinks were called where we got a round, at 00:05 the bouncer walked around and told people to finish up drinking. Confused some people drank up and left we didn’t stress as it was meant to close at 1. At 00:15 the bouncer told us we had to leave very rudely. Would never go back.

Wed 18th Jan 23 paid £11.40 for 1 pint of Tennant's and a pink gin and soda to expensive for me

This is traditionally a great pub but it is being ruined by the ridiculous attitude of the door "bouncers". We really used to enjoy coming here for a beer however the looming aggressive unnecessary doormen will be keeping us away. We witnessed a lovely party of young people enter the pub bringing a vibrate energy to the place. They were well very behaved and just enjoying themselves. The burly "bouncer" immediately intervening unnecessarily and asks them to drink up and leave. They did so quietly without fuss. What was the point? I asked the "bouncer" on the way out and immediately received an appualling self asteem attitude from the guy. Needless to say, he was only interested in himself. Shocking treatment of paying customers at the hands of needless attention seeking doorstaff. We won't be back for a long time!

Had to watch a bar staff pick his nose play with his face not wash his hands and serve people behind the bar completely unprofessional and un hygiene it with the covid going around as well did not like it put me off will not be bake again 🤔

I was refused entry last night, Friday the 18th of November, due to having my assistance dog with me, even though I had him in his bag and the relevant paperwork to confirm that he's a working dog. According to the doorman, if he let me in, everyone would take their dog in. I didn't pursue the issue, even though they don't have the right to bar assistance dogs. This is illegal, and they need to review this policy before someone sues them for discrimination.

We arrived at the Stag on the 08/10/22 with a lovely atmosphere, and sat down for food and drink. We were however all unable to finish our food due to the horrific smell of the English waitress. We had to call over the manager and were appalled to see she was not spoken to nor sent home. Her clumsy service and poor hygiene are the only reasons we will not be returning. Aside from this our evening was pleasant enough, with very quick table service as our other waitress was extremely attentive and chatty, but the above issues must be resolved for all customers to enjoy their experience, as we cannot return.

Review ✓ minimum 5 star review only to reach maximum audience. Myself with a group of friends planned our visit to the Stag on one of our reunions. The smell from the girl serving food and drinks was horrid. None of us could finish the food as we all felt physically sick. We did speak to a lovely barmaid who got the manager to speak to us promptly! However after speaking to the Manager, NOTHING was done to reduce the smell or even send the girl home. After speaking to a customer who said he's a regular this has been a issue for over a year now. How can any hospitality establishment run like this? Another staff member looked so hungover and was bragging that she hadn't had much sleep due to having a night out. We all thought that Mcgintys group had a reputation for delivering a high quality service! This isn't the case at all. None of us will return to any establishment of this group.

Decent busy pub just off Union Street, went along on Saturday night. Good pint, support your local boozer.

Neither horrible nor outstanding. Service staff very friendly, food was good tasting, and prices were fair. I did love the abundance of solid wood in the interior and the various taxidermied small game scattered above behind the bar.

Gloomy place from outside and just the same inside , staff nice and friendly, service prompt and efficient but this old bar is not a fun place for an evening out

This place is a real gem. Catherine looked after us really well, could chat with her all day. Food is exceptional and excellent value for money. Chilli recommend, only have the haddock and chips if you have big appetite. The only place to eat in Aberdeen. Go there!

We were served by Sam, who was amazing, nothing was too much issue for her, a fantastic member of staff whom The Stag should be greatly proud of. A further mention should go to her female colleague (sorry I have no name) who also worked the 26th as she, like Sam was amazing and very helpful.

Popped in for some drinks and food on the way home. Very friendly staff who are always happy to help. My partner had the mac & cheese, which was a plateful and thoroughly enjoyable. I had the nachos which were the best I have ever tasted. These were set out nicely and the proportion of nachos, chili, jalapenos, salsa and sour cream were perfect. The salsa tasted amazing and the taste of lime that came through was delicious. Would definitely return to have that off the menu again!

Amazing food home made pub food, the steak and ale pie was to die for

Today I went to the Stag with friends which I have being doing for a few years now. It was nice as usual but the waitress who gave us our bill was absolutely stinking of BO thank god we had eaten. There is no excuse for that. There is soap and water and deodorant!!! If I was the Manager I would have sent her home!!!
