I had the lovely herb crusted salmon on Thursday it was delicious when I arrived at the stables restaurant the queue was out the door but managed to find a table

I go in the stables restaurant for lunch every Thursday and the food is exceptional it’s better than the canteen and you get a free dessert

The stables restaurant is an amazing place for lunch it is open to the public I used to work in the restaurant on a Friday the staff are really friendly and helpful

A hidden gem. This is just a wonderful place to visit, the students provided an exceptional meal worthy of any expensive restaurant and the service was of a very high standard. Everyone was very welcoming, pleasant and professional. Really worth a try if you have not been before.

We attended the restaurant for a celebration dinner for a large group. The setting is pleasant with a view of the cooking area. The 3 course dinner was excellent, both food and service was of an excellent standard. The students were smiling, smart, well turned out and well supervised by highly competent staff. We were made to feel most welcome.

Excellent food and service at this training college. Also all in knowledge that we were helping some young people learn their trade.

Fantastic service and the food on Thursday evening was brilliant. The attention to detail was great. A great evening and the petit fours just finished of a great evening, well done students and staff. This the College were Harry Lumsdon trained who has just won the British Chefs Young Chef of the year.

This is the first time I have had Christmas Dinner here, and there was an excellent Bill of Fayre. A choice of three starters, three mains and three desserts. I chose the Cod & Red Leicester Fishcake that came in a beautiful wholegrain mustard sauce, that had such great texture. Rather predictably I choose the Turkey Dinner which came with vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. (Other choices included Pave of Salmon and Vegetarian Option). Dessert was a trio of profiteroles that were a perfect way to finish - light and creamy. You would not know this was a student based operation, supervised by 2 head chefs and a team of 15 students across front and back of house. A very well run restaurant with excellent value for money - those three courses £16.95, there is also a bar available.

I ate at The Stables from the Christmas Menu - three choices per course with a vegetarian option for each. The Fishcake was a really good size (not small!). Roast Turkey with trimmings was fantastic, the meat was succulent and a good range of trimmings. Finally, I squeezed in Profiteroles - really light but with a thick chocolate sauce. I really like the environment, its relaxed yet formal, a really nice twist to see the students making the food and delivering high quality. I'll be returning in 2017!

The food and service were both excellent.the staff are really polite and attentive whilst the food is excellent value and a really good standard. The desserts don't disappoint either. I would highly recommend to anyone.

My Daughter is studying at the college and has done her 1st night in the restaurant as a waitress. The food was absolutely fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. The service was fantastic and will be coming back. well done to all .

La primera vez que he estado en este restaurante y ¡qué placer. El personal, todos los estudiantes eran tan servicial y entusiasta. La comida fue uno de los mejores que he comido fuera por un largo tiempo, recubiertos de polenta pollo, seguido por un bistec perfectamente cocinado y tarta de chocolate y naranja. Me lo he pasado muchas veces en el restaurante establos. El personal y los estudiantes son muy amables y la comida es de excelente nivel.

This was the first Thursday evening dinner service of the new term with a new group of catering students, ‘WOW’ what a delight from the water bath salmon starter, to the confit duck leg, the chocolate decadence and then the petit fours. All for £17.99.Seeing as these are catering students just learning their trade the level of service last night was great the comments from other customers on the professionalism of the students and the standard of food service was a pleasure to hear. These are the budding chefs of the future.

A varied amount of choices from vegetarian, gluten free and meat dishes were on offer. I chose the Cajun Chicken Burger which had a lovely kick to it, this came with fries and veg - all for only £4.

A fantastic evening of food produced by the level 3 catering students, for their last evening. The service was very good and its all run by the students.

I work at Oaklands College (not in/for the restaurant itself) and the highlight of my day is the Lunch. Every day I get to experience the superb lunches prepared by our students, and i imagine that the evening meals etc are equally as good if not better. To anyone looking for a top quality meal in a reasonable setting, look no further.

Over 20 of us went to the restaurant last week for a retirement meal for a colleague. The welcome was warm, the professionalism was impeccable, the food was absolutely delicious and very well presented. I would have expected to have paid three times the price. We will certainly go back time and time again. Suggestion: make available somewhere on the Stables web page a list of restaurants at which alumni are now employed. Well done all involved!

Went here on bonfire night and were greeted by 2 students handing out sparklers! Once inside it's v professional looking and you forget you're in a college. Good choice of dishes. 2 of us had salmon starter which was beautifully presented but sadly overcooked and dry. It needed more puree accompanying it. Those who had the mushrooms said they were good. Drinks menu not overpriced but no slimline tonic nor soda water so i couldn't get my usual tipple! Mains were good. Cod cooked perfectly. Those who had the veggie pancake said it lacked flavour. Deserts all lovely tho shame the ice cream had completely melted - was looking forward to that! Considering they're all students it was v good. The background music was very welcome too.

Really good menu the grazing menu was very good and had a good variety enough selection for everyone x
