Really nice place to eat, food is top notch very tasty well worth a visit if your in the area. You won't be disappointed.

Had a new years eve dinner with my partner. The place was lovely and the atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming. The food was amazing, i had the burger and my partner had the steak. Best steak in town. Would highly recommend.

Visiting Fort William for the weekend and decided to try the Stables for dinner. The food was delicious. The service was excellent very friendly and inviting staff. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Visited two nights in a row. Excellent food. Best risotto we ever had. Burger, ribs and steak also exceptional. Service brilliant too. Only point to notice is that part of the dining room is used as storage which makes the first impression a bit unwelcoming. Which is not the case at all!

The staff that served us were kind,friendly and welcoming. The food and service was also outstanding, I got a steak and it was cooked perfectly to my liking. Up there with one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this place,10/10.

My and my boyfriend are vegetarian\vegan and this food was so fresh and amazing, I have to write this review whilst still at the table. The chef is amazing and I highly recommend the side salad for whom ever comes to this restaurant! We had the vegetarian fajitas and the pea risotto with beer battered onion rings, fries and side salad!

The food is fantastic. I had a haggis burger which was gorgeous. And my hubby had the sizzling chicken fajitas. I would highly recommend this place. Staff were really frinedly and chatty.

We highly recommend that you find the opportunity during your travels to dine at this gem of a restaurant. We booked in advance, recommend as we had tried the day before and unfortunately it was full. On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome and led to our table. The service throughout our meal was of an exceptional high standard and the team checked back with us regularly to ensure we were happy and had all we needed - excellent. Particularly as the restaurant was busy, we felt our, and the other service we observed was personable, attentive and the staff made our evening special. When our food arrived, wow are you in for a truly wonderful culinary experience. The quality of the ingredients is evident and it was cooked to perfection. The portions and accompanying sauces were plentiful. In all sincerity our review will not do this place justice as it truly is a dining experience you will not forget and want to replicate. We will definitely recommend and incorporate another trip to Fort William to return. Thank you to the Stables team.

We were told it would take some time for the food to be cooked, which was perfectly understandable. But it took over an hour and the ribs on one end were over cooked. Ironically, if the chef had taken less time, we would have been happier all round.

While the food was tasty and steak was cooked to perfection, the horrible service and very long delays in getting served results in a rare 2 star review. Having read gushing positive reviews about this place, my girlfriend and I.. Tourists from out of town decided to stop by. We called and booked a table for 2 at 630pm. We arrived at 620pm and we're promptly seated. The evening is looking great. Then things started to go downhill. It took us 15 mins to get our orders taken..with 2 tables who arrived after us being served first by the pony tailed sole waitresses there. I waved her down and politely informed her we were ready to order, but was told in a somewhat mocking demeanor that she would be right with me. It took her another 10mins to get back to us. The 2 items we wanted to order.. Ribs and and the risotto were not available. No one told us in advance. Big letdown. To add salt to the wound, the one low alcohol beer on the menu also wasn't available. Food took even longer to arrive. We waited 40 mins before both our burger and steak arrived. Though the taste was good and portions were generous, the accompanying sauce was way too little for a steak of that size. Although my cutlery was swapped out to include a serrated knife, my partner wasn't even given a steak knife. She relied on a bread knife to cut her burger. We asked for water and I made it clear we wanted hot water. We were served a water jug with cold water. End of the night, we can't help feeling very frustrated at the quality of service and long food wait times. We weren't the only ones. We noticed other tables too incurred at least 30 min wait times for food. Perhaps we are an Asian couple.. Was this the reason our table was skipped not once but twice in getting orders taken? One can't help but to draw conclusions. Given the chance, we won't be back again. There are many other establishments in the area worth exploring. With hopefully better table service. If you decide to come here, come very early and hopefully you're of the right skin color to receive proper table service that deserves your hard earned money. And be prepared for long wait times for your food.

What can I say about this little gem 💎 of a place. We were here on Saturday night and ordered a steak and ribs . Both plates were full of so much meat it was great. Everything cooked fresh and great quality 😋. Are server was absolutely amazing such a lovely woman. Hats of to chef my partner said it's best steak he has ever tasted and the ribs where definitely worth it wow we will definitely be back highly recommend everyone to go

3/10/2023 - Tuesday, we went to this Stables restaurant for dinner. This Stables restaurant has won many food award recognition over the years. Their quality of food were secon to none. Staff are lovely, polite, and attentive. Service was very quickly & attentive, well taken care of. Thanks to all the other servers and Suzie for their excellent, warm & friendly service. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The seared scallops with black pudding are excellent. The grilled rack of ribs is generously-portioned (seemed enough to feed a small family!) and very tasty, although the meat can get dry. The sauce is perfect though, and the accompanying corn on cob, coleslaw and chips are delicious. Do also get the chocolate tart with vanilla ice-cream to finish off your meal - this one is definitely worth an order. Service is attentive, but be prepared to wait for your food. Reservations are essential.

Amazing food. Ribeye was cooked perfectly! Pork Belly appetizer was very good. The salmon was amazing too. Desserts: the tablet sundae and cheesecake I highly recommend both. So tasty!!!

Wow, is all we can say. I'd recommend this restaurant! They let us in at the last minute last night (we just walked in), but they never rushed us one moment. The food was to die for. Only ok. Food average. Restaurant felt a bit bare. No music playing for the first half hour we arrived before the staff remembered to turn it on. Staff were nice, but you could hear every conversation had at every other table/at the bar very clearly.

Google is bothering me to leave a review for this place for some reason, so I'll leave one, but the truth is we didn't go in. As English visitors to Fort William, we were surprised at the extent to which local establishments were pandering almost exclusively to American tourists. We walked up to this restaurant and realised quite quickly that it was a prime example of this. Needless to say we turned right around and went somewhere else. If I want America I'll go to America, thanks.

If you are looking for a great place to eat then look no further than here. The staff are very attentive and always have a smile on their faces. The food is to die for. We went on a Saturday night and were so impressed we booked again for the following Friday. Word if warning. BOOKING is essential as it is so popular

Best restaurant experience I've ever had. Two very intuitive and attentive waiters, Nicola and Ben. Intuitive in their ways of keeping us content. For example I asked for a pint of orange cordial which was a little too weak for my taste, which I understand to be a rather petty request. Came up with a great idea to give me a little jug of cordial myself to adjust it to my taste. Nicola went out of her way to teach me how to eat mussels properly as well, save me getting mucky fingers or making a mess if it. Speaking of, I would 100% recommend the mussels in white wine sauce. Really good portion, a full large bowl of mussels in white wine sauce with a nice good chunk of warm sourdough, all for £7.50. Scottish steak burger was also to die for.

Absolutely brilliant. Food was so flavoursome. We were a party of 5 so we sampled a large proportion of the menu and it was all very tasty. Staff very friendly. Highly recommend.

The food at this restaurant was top notch and I mean it! The best meal we had on our 2 week trip thru beautiful Scotland. My hat is off to the chef or chef's. All four dinner plate meals were amazing. The cheese cake desert was the best we ever had! I recommend you call and book a head for a reservation. Because you have to eat at this place! We traveler from Canada, and had a lot of meals out at different restaurants. If you decide to eat here, trust me you will not be disappointed!

This place is absolutely fantastic! As locals we go regularly as we are completely addicted to the mushroom pate, mussels, ribs, flat iron steak, the blue mac, the onion rings...biscoff cheesecake.. basically all of it! The food really is absolutely delicious. If you haven't been you really should.. and just book it! I also recommend this restaurant highly to my guests who stay with me. I have always had consistently top food and service, the staff are so kind and attentive and you feel like you can relax there and not rushed out the door as soon as you place your order. The chef is outstanding and knows his flavours. A huge 10/10 every single time we go.

I left a review 6 months ago for this restaurant, I am leaving one again because I am concerned that there has been a very negative review which in our opinion is not at all fair so I’m updating 6 months on from our perspective and from the perspective of the guests in our B and B that we send. This was the 4th time we have been to this restaurant and the 4th time my husband had the ribs which are excellent by the way!! Scallops cooked to perfection, an amazing Flat iron steak and 3 lots of wonderfully tasty and well-cooked ribs and all for a very reasonable price. We have sent guests and friends on numerous occasions and they have all enjoyed their meal. The service has always been very attentive when we have been, we have felt welcome and very well attended to. I’m sure every restaurant has a day when things don’t run as smoothly as they would like but please don’t let the review that’s very negative put you off as it most certainly is not deserved. Keep up the good work team and we will be back again very soon for some more fantastic ribs!!

Great steak and seafood! Very friendly staff in a very comfortable setting.

I was looking so forward to this restaurant in our visit to Fort William after reading some reviews. I made the reservation a month in advance. It took us roughly 90 minutes to get our dinner! This was easily the worst restaurant experience I have had in years, if not possibly the worst. We arrived promptly for our reservation and were seated. So far so good! But that's where it ended. The waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and we started off with mineral water order.....it never arrived at our table. We were then approached 15 minutes later by another young gentlemen waiter and he took our drink order, both for for water and cocktails. The water and cocktails arrived to our table 15 minutes later. We ordered dinner entrees along with some bread. After another 30 minutes, nothing! When he passed by once, asked for bread again. At this point, two other tables that arrived after us received their food. I then had to go find our waiter and asked him where our food was and that we still had no bread. He explained that the chef was alone and they were "short staffed" and they had to bake the bread. We wanted to leave, but at such a late hour, we would not be able to get in to any other restaurants nearby. He then came back in 5 minutes and explained that our ticket "got lost" They were making our dinner now. Bread showed up shortly later. 90 minutes after arrival, we finally received out dinner. Worth the wait? No. My filet mignon was not tender, but rather chewy and my wife's ribs were not that tasty and tender either......probably could have got better entrees at Applebees. Worst service I have ever experienced and the food was barely average. I would not recommend this restaurant. Instead, a short walk away is Garrison West. We had a splendid dinner there the night before. Delicious good and friendly, attentive and wonderful staff.

As vegans, really hard pass on this place. Our parents(not vegans) thought food was OK. Prices are high and service is super slow. With so many empty tables, they turned away walk in customers. Very weird business model from this place.

Wow... this place needs a Michelin star, freshly cooked food amazing. We tried for the first time, black pudding,haggis nachos and venison steak and we were amazed, everything was beautifully cooked. Makesure you book ahead this place is a hidden gem 💎 xx

Pensant manger une bonne viande nous y sommes allés. Pour 25 livres, la pièce de viande est bonne mais sans plus, trop cuite et les accompagnements basiques. En plus les accompagnements ont été inversés entre les 2 plats laissant penser a une mauvaise commande. Le serveur nous a laissé nous débrouiller pour échanger la moitié de chaque assiette. Bref, pas très compréhensif devant son erreur. Decevant au final.

Excellent restaurant qui propose des grillades, notamment de bœuf Angus, délicieux ! Les restaurants de grillades ne sont pas si nombreux dans ce coin là qu'il faut le signaler. La cuisine est très bonne, le service agréable et les prix raisonnables. Nous avons eu une mésaventure le soir où nous avions réservé (car, oui, c'est peut-être le seul restaurant de Fort William qui prend des réservations !). au moment de notre arrivée, le chef s'était brûlé. ils étaient alors dans l'incapacité de nous accueillir et tellement désolés qu'ils nous ont promis une réduction de 20°/° sur notre repas si nous renouvelions notre réservation. Nous y sommes retournés 5 jours plus tard et nous ont fait la réduction : ils n'avaient pas oublié ! Bravo !

Not only did the restaurant accept us at the last minute, but the food (seafood risotto and steak fajitas) was delicious. Staff were charming and so helpful.

Holy portions! After a big hike up Big Ben, being rewarded with a big ole rack of ribs put a smile on my face. The homemade BBQ sauce and Carolina hot sauce on the side were absolutely fantastic. The young man and woman running the show are so friendly and do a great job. Recommended to anyone with a big appetite after a big hike.

I visited The Stables on a trip to Fort William and was looking for a nice dinner out, I didn't have a reservation so just walked in. There's ample parking nearby which is free after 6pm, this is just across the road. Food I ordered...

Absolute catastrophe. Tasteless burger. Very undercooked potato and warm beer. Strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant. They should have licence to operate taken away. Would eat it again only if force-feeded.

Upon staying in fort william we were recommended the stables for food, although the staff and the dog were lively the food wasn't. We arrived at 17.10, first people in the door, placed our food order at 17.15 and then the lovely waitress came back...

Visited fort william many many times but our first visit to the stables. Food was delicious, the smells coming from the kitchen every time the door opened was divine. Lovley friendly staff everything cooked fresh to order we will defo be back again

Had a meal here last night (29/12/22) after recommendation from locals. Fabulous service and exceptionally good food. It's not the cheapest but you get what you pay for! I'm very fortunate to be reasonably well travelled and I had the finest steak at The Stables I've eaten in my life. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area.

Despite the chef being the only cook in the place that evening, he managed to prepare 7 delectable meals for our entire party. The staff were very accommodating and the food came at a very reasonable time. The atmosphere of the whole restaurant was also lovely. Overall, this was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it.

Me and my partner went for dinner at the stables. We had the nachos to start, it was pleasent. Our waiter was friendly and welcoming but could of had better hygiene. I had the ribs and they looked amazing but was mostly gristle and extremely tough to chew which is not what u expect. The chips were way to under cooked. My partner had the chipotle chicken burger and again the chips were under cooked and the burger had no seasoning what so ever, the bun was really dry and disintegrated as she ate it. Overall a very disappointing dinner and definitely not worth £50 which is what we spend on dinner. I wouldn’t recommend eating here.

Mauvaise expérience. Un service très long pour le peu de client qu’il y avait dans le restaurant. Les bières étaient bonnes et le service sympathique. Mais nous avons été très déçus du burger: nous n’avons pas pu choisir la cuisson du steak qui était beaucoup trop épais avec un goût très spécial. Une sauce fade non adaptée pour les frites. Tout ceci n’aurait pas posé problème s’il n’y avait pas eu une erreur dans la note! En effet pour 2 bières et 2 burgers nous avons payé 75€!!!! (64£). C’est bien dommage…
