The Stables in North Lincolnshire

The phone number is defunct and the venue is completely shut despite it being in the middle of their published hours. I suspect that it has closed down.

I’ve called about 15 times over the past few days to try and book a table for me and my partner. Not once did anyone pick up, it’s too far for us to drive without booking, terrible customer service

Great food, and a Nice little place

Great Welcome! Nice comfy waiting area then straight to the tables with food. Food was lovely and freshly cooked by the chef Chris who had a chat with us during our time there. 5* Great atmosphere. From Teeside but will be revisiting in 2 weeks for work.

So we booked a table for 7:30 arrived just before our booking time stood.......stood........stood.......stood........ STOOD! well we stood without anyone attending us for over ten minutes not even being able to be seated with other couples waiting and tutting behind us! We waited sooooo very long I decided to write them a little note before leaving! So I grabbed a pen and order sheet from there bar and wrote..... Good evening I have now waited here over ten minutes nobody has come to serve me or seat me so now I have GONE! in the end myself and my wife simply went a few more miles up the road to THE SHIRES! it's a fantastic place to eat the service at the shires is brilliant! Never go anywhere the service is so bad they won't even let ya sit The STABLES! I won't be back!

Had a lovely evening just us two. Food was amazing, recommend the meat meze. Delicious piping hot, and a great chat with Chris the owner/chef. Going back soon. Very highly recommended. Five star.

Me and my partner visited on Valentine’s Day and had a lovely experience. A complimentary prosecco and peroni on arrival and a rose at the table. Both mains were excellent and really good portions. The chef came out and spoke to people in the restaurant which was a lovely and personal touch. Would 100% recommend and will definitely be going back soon!

Well where to start. Our party were of different ages, some pre-ordered, others ordered from the menu. The food was average considering the price. Some had to send their meal back, as it was too dry. They had run out of beer, then wine. The service was a joke, we had to wait for our food which came at various times, repeatedly asking for our food, wine, next course, it felt like we were in a episode of Faulty Towers, to the point that we just started laughing at it all. We arrived at 6.30 and didn't leave until gone 10pm. There were only 6 other people there, it's not as if they were that busy. One thing you could say is, it was memorable!!!

Friendly chef! Good food.. we had veg food- it was tasty. Veg mosaka, spaghetti and on side feta bake with salad and pita with delicious hummus

Food was excellent as always, they struggled to serve as had staffing issues so the meal was delayed by over an hour

Food was satisfactory but service was so, so slow and the ambience/atmosphere really lacking, with doors held open making it chilly on a cool autumn evening and Radio 2 blaring out for the duration of our visit. More like a cafe than eatery/restaurant!

We booked at The Stables on Saturday evening 27th for a party of five plus baby and had a wonderful time, the owner is such a genuine lovely person who is also the chef and cooks from the heart. Food was absolutely amazing and well presented could not fault a thing. This place needs the customers back after such a difficult period during Covid. Will definitely call again to enjoy the food and company of the owner. Thank You Chris we all had a lovely evening.

Visited this Gem of a place again last night. Food and service is excellent with a holiday like atmosphere. If you fancy something a bit different then please go and support this restaurant. Can't believe I've never been before... This restaurant has such a lovely authentic feel to it. The Souvlaki was delicious. All the staff were fabulous and Chris took the time to have a chat with us and made us feel very welcome. Will definitely be back soon! Can't think of a bad thing to say.

We had a table booked for 8 o' clock, didnt sit down until 9. Very poor choice of wine. Food not as described, disappointing meal. Not a great experience for the money we paid. Will not go again!

Went for my mums birthday as a surprise. The front of house staff went above and beyond for us all and made my mum feel really special. They were also amazing with my 8 year old son giving him colouring books, pencils and generally treating him like one of their own. The chef also came out to see us and wish my mum a happy birthday. So many personal touches. The food was exquisite. We will definitely be going again

We booked for a party of 16 and the staff were excellent, really organized and thorough. Food was fantastic and the chef came out to speak with us which was brilliant, real passion for quality which shone through. It's a small restaurant but we'll worth a visit. Highly recommend the Chicken Souvlaki 😍 and a Mythos beer.

Absolutely delicious food, a great, friendly and inviting place

The greek food was lovely we all really enjoyed every part of the food, just slightly let down by the lack of choice of beer and red wine.

Read good reviews so tried here for a friend's birthday. Completely disappointed! Could only attend at half 7 due to restaurant being "busy" but there was only one other table in when we arrived. We were given a menu and left in the conservatory, unsure of what was happening. We waited over an hour to be taken to a table, with no idea why we were waiting. It was almost 9pm before we had any food, which was not as delicious as I'd hoped. Somewhat bland. The starters were not even taken away before they brought the main. We were never offered a drink other than the one we got when we were in the conservatory. Waitress spent most the time in the kitchen. Staff going out the side door for cigarettes and the smell travelled through to the restaurant. Toilet could do with a spruce up, and a dust! Will not go back.

Terrible service and so so food

we had very high expectations for this place being number one reviewed on trip advisor, yet on the phone the waitress told us they could only fit us in at 6 and no later, yet the place had more staff members than customers the whole time we were there. I give two stars because my greek food was nice, and the place was pretty but my friends pasta was very dry and tasteless, and when asked we didn't want to cause a scene but the chef insisted on coming out to our table FOUR times to belittle us and explain exactly why the food was in fact fine, and that all the staff had tasted it and loved it, even though we continue to be in a pandemic? He has obviously never heard that the customer is always right. Appalling behaviour to 3 young girls who were paying customers.

Tasty starters, but every main course was overcooked. First visit and probably last.

Eating like home. The quality and taste of food is extrodirnary. I could believe that I found such a gem here at Scunthorpe. Christos the owner and chef is an old's vanguard cook who comes and greets his customers. Service is above and beyond. Environment is cozy with modern folklore greek music :)

This was our favourite restaurant pre covid, but after our visit on Saturday, we have both decided it will be our last visit. This isn't exactly a cheap place to eat, so you would expect to be looked after. The service was terrible, the only time any of us could get a drink was when food was dropped off at the table and even then, we had to go to the desk and remind the waitress about our drinks order. The food was nothing compared to how it used to be. My wife had trio of lamb and it was all very chewy, my friends wife had fillet steak and again it was chewy and both said they weren't great dishes. My friend and I had fish meze, which I have had before and was beautiful, this time it wasn't great, halibut and bass were overcooked and the lemon sole came out after the meal had been served. My wife told one of the waitresses about her lamb not being good and she said she would tell the chef/owner after service, because it would put him in a bad mood!!! Terrible customer service. I have never seen any of the staff before, so I can only presume they are all new. Such a shame this restaurant has gone downhill so much, I used to absolutely love it.

Just been to The Stables and will never return. Poor service is an understatement. 50 minutes for a starter to arrive and then another 25 minutes later I asked where the main was which I was informed it was just being served. An hour and half later still no food. Other customer.leaving said good luck with the wait. I asked to pay for what we had drinks wise as was leaving as I wasn't prepared to wait anymore. The chef then came out being very rude told me not to pay for what we had and leave and not come back. I tried to explain that it isn't acceptable to wait an hour and half to eat. If they had said there was a delay It wouldn't be an issue. Even whilst waiting we wasn't asked if we wanted anymore drinks or if we wanted any water on our table. You could see by all the other customers in there that they weren't happy and the coupe on the opposite table said to us it wasn't an acceptable wait as they were still waiting also and they had been waiting also. Never again

Sat outside as it was a warm evening - William, a very pleasant young lad, looked after us very well!Was pleasantly surprised to have Chris the Chef swing by our table for a chat (reminiscing with my husband about 'old' Cyprus - the Taverna on Nissi beach - 1980's!!!!)

All had a lovely meal in a tradional Greek style taverna setting. The meat & fish meze's were very good & the steak was excellent.

We had some wonderful food and drink in the lovely Mediterranean garden area in the evening sunshine. We had starters of garlic mushrooms and prawns and salmon and both were superb. Main dishes of moussaka and pork loin, both dishes were so fresh and tasty, served with warm garlic bread, absolutely gorgeous food. The garden area gives you the feeling you are on holiday, also a huge conservatory to enjoy a coffee, with leather sofas and tastefully decorated. This is a hidden gem in Messingham, well worth a visit and we would highly recommend. Fantastic service, reasonable prices and just a lovely restaurant serving fresh food, which you can really appreciate once you have eaten. Highly recommended and we are looking forward to our next meal.

We went for a family meal (belated birthday) on the recommendation of friends and were pleased with the venue, the staff and the food. Two of us had the fish mezes and two, the meat mezes and there was a good selection of seafood and different meats, some presented as authentic Greek dishes, such as beef stifado and others more Anglicised, such as chicken breast in barbeque sauce. Whichever, it was all nicely cooked and presented in a small, friendly place, with attentive, pleasant and polite staff.We'll definitely call again soon.

Great little place. Easy to drive past without spotting but well worth looking out for. Great food and really friendly staff. Gave us that nice holiday taverna feeling that we are all so missing in current times. Will definately be revisiting... Helen, Steve & Jimmy

Delicious, home cooked food. I have been working in the area for a couple of months and have been staying in the Premier Inn. I’m tired of paying through the nose for mediocre food, so a meal at the Stables was a welcome surprise and a very enjoyable experience. I’m away from home and I dine alone, which is why I often end up just getting something quick, or eating in the Brewer’s Fayre or similar. However, the other night I thought I’d put a bit more effort into finding something better and chose the Stables simply because it came up on my google maps. I must say I was really impressed. I was made to feel very welcome, even as a table for one, and the meal was not only absolutely delicious but no more expensive than I might have paid for the usual bog standard offerings I’d been used to. In fact, it was so nice, I couldn’t resist a chocolate brownie with cream to finish, which was heavenly!! I will take my wife and kids here as soon as we get chance and I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Arrived early for drinks as we had preordered food (they requested this on booking) nice setting outside taken to table quite a long wait ( menus left on table WHY) eventually came said oh you have pre ordered. Starters arrived garlic mushrooms cold. Garlic bread minute for £3. Mains were ok but a very long wait. Drinks expensive and unfortunately the waiters seemed very inexperienced.

We had a meal at the stables tonight with family, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The chef came to the table and said hello which was great! The garlic mushrooms to start were amazing as well as the chicken souvlaki for main. Will be returning again without a doubt to try the rest of the menu. Would 100% recommend this restaurant.

We ate at the Stables for the first time last night, the restaurant is very quaint with very friendly staff. I had the fillet steak and I have to say it was one of the nicest tasting steaks I have eaten, well cooked and seasoned beautifully, I had eaten at Miller & Carter Steakhouse just last week, but the Stables fillet blew them out of the water! A pleasurable experience and I would highly recommend this venue. In a word Teleios!

Pre-Covid, this was my favourite restaurant. Not so good post-covid. The mezzes were just slabs of meat and this week, the lobster thermidor was salty, chewy and over cooked. Not only that but arriving at 6.30pm we didn’t get our main course until just after 8.00pm. Zora the Greek played 6 times. Think I will look for another favourite restaurant in future. Sorry as this one had a lovely ambience. Just doesn't produce the goods.

Couldn’t fault the food or the service. I had the lamb moussaka, which was absolutely delicious and the portion was a really good size. The young man serving us was lovely as well - really attentive. Such a relaxed vibe to the restaurant too. Will definitely be back.

Would 100% recommend a visit to the Stables, amazing food and wonderful, friendly staff. A great deal of effort is put into making it a great Greek experience.

The service and hospitality are amazing, and the food is even better. Everyone here loves what they do and it shows in the food.

Second visit for dinner in June 21. Four of us went for dinner. Nice evening so sat outside in garden. Very relaxing. Four starters and four main courses ordered together with decent white wine and beer. Food well presented and decent portion size. Tasty and all of us enjoyed different food with no complaints. Good selection on menu. Staff were fine and owner was on site and chatty. Prices are mid range and decent. Overall a nice experience and left with next booking in place.

I chose to try here based on the #1 trip advisor rating.. Wow what a let down, how did they get #1?!We waited an hour before asking how much longer it would be, to be told 5 minutes. 15 minutes later we walked out as still no food. Bloody ridiculous! There was only 2 of us and we hadn't ordered complex meals, and there were only 2 other tables in! (A table of 2 and a 4)One waitress was sweet but clueless, the other one didn't want to be there. The table of 4 got their starters and mains and had ordered pudding and we still had no sign of food?? Priorities?!?!?! Need to sort our their customer service and waiting times.

First night open and despite some hiccups along the way (some menu items missing due to lack of fresh availability of some items which... is fair). Staff were incredibly friendly and head chef chatty and welcoming. Location was warm and cozy. Food was very good and very well cooked (The Meat Meze being a nice selection for those unsure what to try). with only a few issues stopping me from rating 5/5 (Burger for instance wasnt quite as formed as would like so it was more difficult to eat near the end as it fell apart). Also on a personal preference, im not quite a fan of eating off tile-style plates. Its just a bit messy. Despite the minor issues, was still very nice and makes me want to try again when some of the teething issues have been cleared and sorted.

The inflated TA reviews mistook us. Take out we ordered was horrendous. Greasy food. No seasoning. Not worthy of dog food.

Popped in for a take away of our favourites (the fish meze and the meat meze) last night. As always, very professional, courteous and friendly service. Had a very pleasant long chat with Chris while we were waiting for our food. He always has time for his customers. I always say, people make places, and it is so true for Stables as well. Not only Chris but everyone else at stables are extremely nice and well trained.Food was amazing, even after a half an hour drive home. Thanks guys, hope to see you after the lockdown when we can enjoy the lovely settings indoor or outdoor with your gorgeous food and friendly service.Kirk & Carol

Take away only due to current restrictions, but was in Scunthorpe for business. Tried this place and had the meat meze, food was delicious, had the cheese cake for dessert. Absolutely spot on. If I am back up here for business again I will definitely be ordering again, hopefully be able to eat in next time.

A little bit of Greece on our doorstep. Fantastic, freshly cooked food. Yes there is a wait for food, but when it's freshly made and tastes this good, grab a drink and enjoy the atmosphere. Very friendly and efficient staff, the chef taking time to speak to customers is a lovely touch. The room is intermate, however tables are spaced out and waitresses wear masks, so it's Covid safe. Highly recommended.

The food was excellent and plentiful. Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient. It is the first time I’ve visited the venue and I will definitely return. Even the chef took the trouble to have a chat - how nice is that.

Staff were amazing but slow service and waited an hour for starters which were disgusting. We ended up cancelling our mains and left. We didn't get charged for any drinks but will not be visiting again.

Visited here on Saturday night. Was greeted by waitress wearing mask who showed us to our table. The service and the food was remarkable. The chef took time out to come to our table to ask if we had enjoyed our meal. I thought that was really nice of him . Would we go again . Most definitely. Would we recommend. Absolutely

Took my son to The Stables for a birthday tea. I chose them as they had ah good choice of vegetarian meals advertised online.We were therefore initially disappointed to discover that the menu was much reduced due to the current situation. However, staff couldn't have bern more helpful, coming up with a fabulous vegetarian meze for my son.I enjoyed the chicken souvlaki. Both meals were beautifully cooked and a good size. We didn't have room for dessert.Thank you for a great night.

Our family of 5 popped in last minute and they luckily had a table for us. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and helpful. The chef/owner Chris also made us feel welcome by visiting the table twice to check on us and have a lovely chat. Great hidden gem for us non locals...will definitely visit again when we are back over this way.

What a find! Great meal served by delightful staff! Prawn tian was the best we have every had! Steaks were cooked to perfection and loved the peppercorn sauce! Top restaurant for miles in the opinion of the four of us!

I think this was my fourth visit and the food was delicious and usual.I had the beef stifado and my fiancé had the fish meze.Reasonably priced but one of the best and nicest places to eat in North Lincolnshire.Service was good and attentive.Prosecco is lovely and we enjoyed your meal here.

Ate here for the first time after lockdown, food was beautiful, full of flavour, could not fault it. There was a slight wait which the waitress apologised for, but the wine was lovely & it wasn’t an issue to us. I had the lamb mousakka & salad & my partner had the chicken fillet. Both were delicious. Only negatives I would have (constructive criticism) is the wine menu was limited & the wait was a little long. Bit after lockdown these are minor issues. Will definitely be returning soon. Waitress did a fantastic job too

Went for my daughters birthday, on arriving there was a birthday banner up and a card and small present on the table, a lovey thoughtful touch. Food was delicious staff very friendly will definitely be returning.

Seen as it was wedding anniversary on Saturday and we decided a stables takeaway was on the cards seen as family and friends highly recommended it. Ordered the chicken souvlakia and meat meze with garlic mushrooms. Can only congratulate Chris and Charlotte and the team on what was simply a stunning meal in no way was anything compromised because it was a takeaway we live near Morrison’s and the food was still piping hot once home just like most other takeaways. Service as usual was perfect and the way you order and pick the food up is perfectly handled along with Chris keeping the kitchen door open on the top half so all the smells waft up your nose as u wait for your box to be prepped just makes you salivate more. Top marks stables can’t wait to return for more fabulous flavours and tastes for the senses

Just had a very tasty takeaway, I had my favourite Lamb Moussaka, and my husband had Fish Meze, so pleased they are doing takeaways, but looking forward to the day they can open up.

Usual excellent, friendly service and food - thanks to Chris, Charlotte & staff. As the restaurant has had to be closed, because of Covid 19, we thought we would try the new takeaway option. We had the lasagne and the fish & chips - plus chocolate brownie and vanilla cheesecake. It was all very tasty and stayed hot all the way back to Bottesford.

First let me say book in advance as this is very popular.The staff were on the ball from the start and made us feel welcome all evening.The food was exceptional and very filling and the cost reasonable for the whole experience.It's not a fancy restaurant but was very good at what it did.Food service was a little slow but not a problem.Staff made the place and will come back.

The place is fairly basic but enjoyable. The staff are excellent and very informative. The service was first class. The verity of food was very good, but most of all it tasted great.The cost was very good around £30 a head including tip. Service was a little slow at the start but this could have been because it was full.Hint there book in advance.If we are in the area again we will return.Thanks for a lovely evening.

Coming from London in an area called ‘Little Cyprus’ it was a bonus finding an authentic Greek ‘taverna ‘ in Scunthorpe serving authentic Meze. Fantastic food and atmosphere with Greek music in the background you could almost be on holiday! Added to that Charlotte couldn’t have been more helpful, charming and friendly. She’s a real asset to the restaurant. Can’t wait to get back especially when it’s warmer and we can sit outside in the evening. Superb!

Fabulous place to eat, the 3 course special was incredible value for money and with quality ingredients cooked to perfection and good size portions for a ‘meal deal’. Lovely surroundings, full of character and what a delight to be served by Sharon who couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Decided to take the plunge and go somewhere new, and have to say I definitely wasn't dissapointed. I suffer from coeliac disease and worry about eating new places.. I told the staff when booking the table and they were more than helpful. On the night the lady who served us went through the menu with me and told me what I could and couldn't have and if I wanted something that wasn't gluten free they would do their best to make sure it was if they could. The staff were so very friendly and quick to check up on you and your needs. All round lovely food. The chips are absolutely lush!! Would happily again. Cute little place too.

Our second visit. Garlic mushrooms and warm feta salad followed by Turf n Surf and Moussakka..yum yum. Sshhhh, don't let too many people know about this place cos we want to be able to get a table again! 😁
