Excellent lounge bar which apart from having some unusual beers/Cider also offers an excellent food menu. The food is really good, and both the Steak pie and haddock are highly recommended.

Another excellent, very reasonably priced dinner with a good menu choice. The food was plentiful, tasty and the service very good.

I had lunch here and was very impressed. with the quality of the food, the attentive friendly staff and the promptness of the service. Had the seafood linguine which was excellent along with a glass of pleasant pinot grigio. Staff were very attentive and service was prompt and staff pleasant. I wasn't driving but there is a nice spacious car park outside. Prices very reasonable. Recommended

I had sweet and sour chicken but it was inedible as the chicken was undercooked. OH had steak pie and said the pastry was brick hard. Veg was good, drinks were cold, service was first class

Due to this virus Alan & Joyce have started a takeaway service using the full menu they normally have if you visited The Stables. We ordered tonight & it was out out of this world. Visited the stables on sunday evening and had a lovely meal. I had chicken stroganoff with 1/2 & 1/2 chips & rice and my partner had the special of the day, chicken with black pudding & both were generous helpings and really delicious.The staff are really helpful & friendly too. We'll definitely be back.

great menu steak pie to die for but not only that my good lady had the fish and it was great ,staff are brilliant and always ask if every thing is alright sticky toffee pudding is out of this world , so make your way there and you will love it

Popped in here on our way to Edinburgh on Friday, the staff were very friendly and accommodated us with the last available table. To be honest it doesn't look much from the outside (nor the inside really) but the food was excellent, we both had Burger with chilli which was very filling and very good value. The staff were very friendly and the food arrived quite quickly, would definitely recommend.

Food and service were first class. Young staff were pleasant and helpful and genuinely seemed happy at their work! The food we had was faultless. My friend had the steak pie and it was a REAL home made pie - none of the meat and gravy with a separate puff pastry lid that so many places do nowadays! First complaint? Too much!! I had the chicken stroganoff with half rice/half chips. It was beautiful and I scoffed the lot! Yum. Second complaint? No room for pud!! We will definitely recommend to others and will return!

Went here for a meal the other day. Service was good, food was average. My hubby said the Steak Pie was good, I had the Chicken Curry. The chicken was dry inside, it tasted like frozen ready meal.

Went with family and had the chilli. It was excellent and I throughly enjoyed it. I have been many times over the years.

Met by friendly staff who quickly showed us to our table.They were very knowledgeable about special. Menu board. Usual pub grub with a few specials from starters through to sweets. Although we all ordered different meals these arrived altogether piping hot. Only fault is when advertising steak pie to me steak pie is made with pastry cooked on top, not stewed steak with a pastry slice on top (which many other restaurants do) steak pies not steak pie with a soggy bottom..Meals enjoyed by all.

We quite often visit the stables as either a family or just me and the other half.

We came in wet and hungry from camping, looking for somewhere to eat that was child and dog friendly. We stumbled across the stables which was perfect. Great food at reasonable prices. Really warm welcome for the kids and dog. And they show the football! Thanks

A day out in Brechin for the football from Peterhead. A hot sunny day so The Stables was a welcome watering hole. Was full so sat with our drinks outside, a great place to visit for a drink.

Stopped in Brechin briefly and decided to go out for our dinner. We arrived about 16.50 but they did not start serving until 17.00, we were offered a drink and a seat by a very friendly barmaid. The food was fabulous and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend to others and will visit if I happen to be back in Brechin.

Arranged to meet a friend at The Stables for an evening meal. Good home cooking was just what we like.... and we were not disappointed in any way! 'Real' steak pie (cooked with the pastry on top not like so many places where it's done separately) with lovely tender delicious steak and a rich gravy (could have done with a bit more) accompanied by home made chips done to perfection and a few veg...What more could you ask for? Great portion size too. So much so that we couldn't manage a sweet which is unusual for me. Maybe just as well I was full as I doubt if I'd be able to chose a pudding as every one sounded lovely.

Good honest pub grub. Large portions. Friendly service. The Stables has been consistently good and reliable for years. I'd say if you want British food then it's the best in Brechin.

Nipped up to Brechin for a quick trip so took parental and folks to stables for lunch. It makes a change for me to have genuinely great local staff. I have to say, the food was top notch and for 50 quid for 4 including drinks is great value and you really can't go wrong. Excellent.

Don't expect fine dining, with a jus or foam on your meal here, and it's all the better for it. Good, simple food cooked well and in good quantity at a good price, what's not to like!

Ate here 3 nights as recommended by my B+B, well worth visiting. Tasty and great value for money. The steak pie is especially recommended.

First time I have been disappointed with meal. I took family for birthday meal sons 21 st. We arrived on time young girl very pleasant also split order for us no problem got drink fast. On taking order very efficient . Got starter ok but when main came out probs. The girl had written down order but when chef sent problems appeared steak pie with chips came out ok but with veg when only beans requested and half portion other steak pie full portion came with potatoes ok but veg had sweet corn in it when girl wrote down no sweet corn ask for then chillie burger and it came out with chips instead potatoes and had no veg poor girl sorted it for us no prob. The 2 that ordered lasagne said was not nice tasting at all which 1 left the lot its a shame as go there regular and never had problem maybe chef had off day.

Have stayed in brechin tried every eatery but this one.So for past three weeks we have eaten there and i have to say its the best place in Brechin absolutely brilliant.They should be proud the staff are fab the chef immence.thankyou.

Visited with three friends, two from Dundee, one being a local who recommended a visit here. Friendly welcome from staff, 2 chicken stroganoff, with fries rice and salad, chicken fajitas with fries, and a toastie and fries ordered, all food was delicious, great service from staff, freshly made and tasty, will be back when in the area again, recommend a visit :)

This Pub is an excellent choice for a good Pub meal. My favourite meals here are either Cheese Burger with Chilli or Chicken Fajitas but the menu is very varied so there is a choice for everyone. The Bar also serves draft ales which is a real bonus !

We visited on Hogmany. As it was a busy time we did book a table. The staff were very helpful and courteous. The service was good. The food was good solid comfort food that you would expect to find in a small town pub. Nice atmosphere.One of our dishes was not up to scratch but when we mentioned that to the staff they waived the bill for the dish and were happy to do so and invited us back. Great service with a smile.

Our daughter, husband and grandson were down to see our new flat in Brechin, so we decided to try the Stables for lunch due to good reviews. We has toasties and panini's all of which were very tasty, all could have been a bit hotter, but not enough to complain, served with salad or coleslaw and a side of chips which were lovely. The cost of a kid's meal was prohibitive for a two year old so he shared from us all and ate the lot!! All in all a good experience, the staff were great, and we will return when we move in.

Lunch here with friends frequently. Never disappointed with food or service. The owners are very involved and always on hand to help out.

Our end of term meal, so 26 of us ate here and really enjoyed the food and service. I booked in advance and pre-ordered all the meals to save anyone waiting to order on the evening. We had speeches and gifts to deliver prior to the meal and so a quick nod to the waiting staff to say we were ready to eat was all it took. The dishes of piping hot food arrived at our tables within minutes. Service was efficient, food was piping hot and the portions were of a very generous size. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, so from all at Andover PS, a big thank you and keep up the good work!

I eat here fairly frequently but haven't left a review for a while. Pal's Birthday last night, so 7 of us had a meal. Braw !!!! I had the Chicken and Black pud in a pepper sauce from the Specials board, absolutely lovely. No complaints. I usually go for the Chicken Stroganoff, which i highly recommend. Not busy when we got there at 7 but filled up quickly. oh,,,and of course, you have to try the Sticky Toffee pudding as well!!!!!!

Mike and June at Liscara B & B in Brechin have mentioned and recommended The Stables on more than one occasion but the last two times I couldn't find it. However, I persisted this week and there it was :-)A very comfortable environment with pleasant and efficient waitresses - the food came quickly and was cooked and presented well.The costs are average and it is very good value for money.I am working and stay in Brechin every month, so now I have found it, I will be back for sure :-)

We went to the stables for a wedding reception and it was great. The staff were really friendly and quick to fill drinks and clear plates etc they really went the extra mile for my mums reception and I'mVery grateful.

We had lunch and it was delicious. Steak pie and the Chicken with black pudding in a pepper sauce were really nice dishes. Bottle of Sauvignon Blanc was very nice and reasonably priced. Very friendly staff finished off the lunch perfectly. Great experience. Definitely going back.

My sister took us out on sunday to this restaurant for her 60th birthday meal. There were 10 of us in the party. On arrival at the restaurant we were shown to our reserved table and asked what we would like to drink. We had an absolutely lovely meal and the service was excellent. Everyone commented on their meals and only had positive things to say about them. .The price of the meals were very reasonable and all were very generous portions. Will definitely be back to this restaurant again.

Visited today. Sad time though as it was for refreshments after a family funeral. Very homely place and we were well looked after by the staff. They kept coming round with tea and coffee and made sure everyone was ok. Not really anything to say apart from that as it was a short visit and we had a long drive home. Thanks to the management and staff for attending to our needs.

The restaurant itself is tired and I'd say needs a little updating!The food was quite nice, home made I think and the boy and girl who served us were both pleasant. The only thing I'd say is the staff may look a little better in uniform... perhaps that's just me being picky! I'd probably nip back in if I ever find myself in Brechin again.

We ate here early Saturday evening. The staff were very attentive and quickly brought drinks and food order. Only a few tables were occupied at this time. Our choice of main dishes, beef curry and breaded haddock, both with chips and fresh vegetables, were nicely cooked and piping hot. The banoffi pie desert, consisting of sliced banana in a pastry case with a runny sauce topped with aerated cream, was a disappointment to say the least. As on our first visit, a noisy group occupied a central table which made conversation difficult for most of the time.

Excellent supper this week. Meals exactly as stated on menus and very good. Polite friendly staff. Recommend to anyone looking for a quick meal in Brechin.

Pretty much general pub grub but always good. The steak pie is excellent and service is good also. Price ok, similar to similar places.

Needed an evening meal as we were staying in Brechin for a wedding the next day. Told that this was a good place for food, food was good but had to wipe the seats down first before sitting down due to all the dog hairs, unfortunately even though I love dogs I can't be near them or hairs from them due to having Asthma, I would not have stayed but was eating with others, inhaler had to be used and after eating quickly left. Should not have animals in an establishment that serves food or put a notice up outside saying we have dogs freely roaming.

Sono stato a pranzo l'altro lunedi' in questo ritorante/pub di Brichet e devo dire che la gentilezza del personale e la bellezza dei piatti unici serviti mi ha colpito in modo positivo. Ho mangiato un ribeye con contorno decisamente buono e poi la guinnes spillata col guadrifoglio disegnato nella schiuma e' sempre un piu' sul registro! I prezzi sono in linea con la zona e il cmbio per noi italiani, comunque 25 pound per il controfiletto e 3 birre mi sembrano onesti!

Staying in a local B & B we were recommended to eat at the Stables. Glad we took the advice. We were fortunate, perhaps, that the lounge was quiet, with only another half dozen patrons in, but can't fault the service or ambience, and the food was wonderful compared to some "pub food" : freshly cooked, not just heated up, piping hot and man-sized portions. (Smaller portions are on offer for most dishes). I wish I had done this as I had no room for dessert! The young waitress was appropriately attentive. Prices were reasonable, given the portion sizes. Only down side is they stop serving at 8pm, but Brechin is not exactly awash with evening diners, I guess!

I have to hold my hand up and admit that I live next door to this pub so it is with no little embarrassment that I have only started to eat there recently. You see, I am no big fan of eating in pubs but I'm really glad my wife persuaded me to have dinner there a couple of months back because we've been back at least 4 times since and I think that pretty much says it all. As pub food goes I'd much rather eat at The Stables than say a brewrs fayre because for the same money you pay at a pub chain you get a much better culinary experience. They have an extensive menu with all the pub food classics and more it's not fancy so don't go expecting gastro-pub fayre because there's not much call for it up here- the menu is aimed at local customers and must be working because it's busy throughout the week. Book in advance to guarantee a table although staff will go out of their way to accommodate you. We have kids and they have no problems eating here. Portions are generous but not ridiculously so and the food has been of a high standard whenever we have eaten. I confess to being a burger nut and the burgers here are great so it gets my vote. Prices very reasonable for what you get. Drinks normal pub prices and a good selection. We usually go early evening Friday or Saturday with the kids prior to 7.00 pm when it's a little more quiet.

Its a few years since we were last here and the place has changed hands since then. The meal was of a very high standard but it must be said the table service was a bit "sloppy" but did not spoil an excellent meal.Phil Joy snr

Often come with friends and always good food and good crack. Used to visit another place regularly to catch up with school chum but this is our new venue as we don't feel rushed or made to feel unwelcome after eating.Well recommend this place to anyone.

an excellent evening venue with top quality meals, pretty basic menu, however the portion sizes and quality means good food at a reasonable price too.

When thinking about where to go for lunch, the stables is a clear winner. My favourite dishes are Cajun beef with rice and chips or chicken tikka flatbread with chips. Delicious, sometimes the chips are hit or miss but wouldn't mark them down for this, reasonably priced too. Kids love going too, their favourite is macaroni from the kids menu. We visited yesterday, after booking a table. Good job we did as the Harleys were in town so the pub was jumping. However, there was no separation of diners and customers who just wanted drinks, so was very noisy. Not an enjoyable ambience. We ordered Natchos to share. My god the portion size was phenomenal. We tackled it but had to leave room for the mains. Here's where the disappointment starts. I ordered haddock and chips with veg. What looked like hand cut chips were bland and although I salted them, well...still bland. The fish was fine, but the carrots and sweet corn were over cooked and swimming in a pool of butter. What chef/cook does that? Very off putting. I think I had about 4 of the chips , ate most of the fish and a few veg. My husband ordered mixed fajitas, with more bland chips. The fajitas mix of chicken, beef and peppers was fine. Salsa, guacamole and sour cream came in the same dish and the tortillas had not been adequately warmed. In fact they looked as if they had been left out and were almost crisp like. The waitress was understanding of our complaint and advised us there was only one chef working as the other one was on holiday. Despite the pub being busy, there was not a lot of food being served at 5pm. There was a deduction from the bill , which we appreciated, but felt necessary. Maybe we just hit it on the wrong day, but strategies should be in place . A more defined dining area should have been thought about. If ever back in Brechin I would possibly come back on a less busy day

Last day of term and looking for some great food to hit the spot. We found it! Really good choices on the extensive menu, mix and match anything you want, no bother.Service was attentive with staff being helpful and friendly. Also very reasonably priced, Food was piping hot on arrival, always a good sign in my book. We will return, thank you.

I have eaten in the Stables many times before whist on holiday in the area, but this is my first review. The food is always filling and tasty with the extra bonus of a decent pint of real ale to wash it down. The staff are friendly and smile whist serving, so in all, a nice atmosphere.

Went for a meal there for first time this week. Highly recommended. Food excellent also great choice of food. Excellent value for money. Booked for next month.
