The Stables in East Dunbartonshire

Established and popular but the lunchtime I used it with my grandson the service was poor.I realise that trying to have enough staff serving and in the kitchen is difficult to judge but on school holidays especially the last day should be taken into consideration for staffing levels.

Fantastic lunch with the family. Excellent service provided by the lovely Sarah too!

The food by Jack was fantastic, all plates were cleared. Really enjoyed the Signature burger. Good size kids meals too.

Sarah was a great server, she fought a bear from eating our food. A real one fr Food from jack was also top notch, cheers big man

We were served by Sarah who was so lovely and made sure I had plenty of gravy! She was very friendly and chatty. The food, made by Jack was delicious. I've never had a bad meal at the stables and this more than maintained my expectations.

A warm welcome on a dreich day.👍 Main course was enjoyable. Really puzzled why waiter wouldn't let us order either full size dessert from the set lunch menu, insisted we were only allowed hot beverage and mini dessert!?? Wish I'd challenged it at time. Apart from that it was fine.

Went today easter Monday, we were told before we sat down the items they had run out of????? 4 on menu, waited for 10-15 minutes before drink order got took,waited even longer for food order to be took.after ordering 4 different meals again long wait for then waitress to come up to table to say 1 meal wasn't available so my son in law ordered same as me ,ten minutes later waitress came back to tell us both mine and son in laws wasn't available. So we then decided to leave and go elsewhere, holiday weekend I'm sorry they should have plenty of food available and more staff I only seen 2 staff working 1st time visiting but alas won't be back terrible standards. The wait to be told certain items was a disgrace let's say we changed to something else would my wife and daughters meals have been over cooked

Friendly and cosy pub with a large varied menu. Staff always friendly and accommodating. We find it's better on a weekday as Sundays and public holidays are always very busy and the service time and meal quality suffers.

Took my family here for a lunch today and what a disaster. We waited an hour and 40 mins for food that never came we gave up in the end and left. Such a shame as we have been before and was a good experience but today was terrible.

We booked a table in advance for a special occasion of our parents meeting. When we arrived we were sat at the bar at a broken table. We asked to move then waited a further 10 minutes for menus. When the waitress took the order she told us the kitchen was sold out of nearly all starters, all roast dinners except 1 and a list of mains too. The service was really not good enough. The booking was at 1730 and there is no reason that the kitchen should be sold out of almost half the menu, and certainly no reason for the complete lack of service we received.

The staff were lovely, and so was the food. A couple of things we wanted were not available, but that wouldn't put me off coming back.

Great discovery! Very tasteful food, generous portions. Very kind and friendly staff. The space is big but quiet and great for families. Choice of Music was a plus too! Nice walk along the river for pre/post lunch

The best place to come after a cycle in Glasgow. The service is amazing. They have the best Sunday roast we’ve ever had and Daniel made our night! Will deffo be recommending this place to tones of people! Will come back with more people. Hope you’re ready to look after us all Daniel 😂 10/10

Food was ok, took a good while toncome to the table and had to send 2 meals back as they were cold. The lady serving was lovely and friendly!

We come here often after our Saturday walks along the canal. The staff are always great and so accommodating with the dogs & the baby and the food is always delicious. Complements to chef Leah and our wonderful server, Sarah, she’s been amazing!!

Had the worst Shepherd's pie ever, crispy topped potato which had went chewy, dried out lamb mince also chewy( there was hardly any of it) the dish was roasting hot. Dried up mashed potato on the side. Waited over 45 mins for it as well.... £17 for a dinner that my dog probably wouldn't eat as it was mostly dried mash potato. Took it back, didn't bother with anything else as my pal's rice in her curry was like mush, nothing else appealled. The place was freezing as well. Staff pleasant though.

Sarah was lovely and very helpful. Food was very tasty and reasonably priced.

Finally tried this place today whilst in the area. Area specifically designated for dogs, with blankets provided (suggest booking if you're bringing a four-legged friend as tables for dog owners were all busy). Food good, fairly priced. Nice atmosphere with the fire etc. The best quality it has is the service which was excellent. Efficient, friendly and a reason to return.

A disappointing mother's day experience. When we arrived, we were very specifically told you had a max of 1hr 45mins, which we thought no problem. Sadly, if you've got staff who promise to bring menus over for dessert, then don't reappear in the area that you are sitting for 25 minutes and say sorry, I forgot to bring the menus. It's not really good enough when you then only have 20 minutes left of the table and still no menu. We had to pay for a 3 course meal but only able to have 2 courses. I would also like to point out that we came in with our child. We put in the comments when booking about having a high chair, but the staff never even asked if we needed one, so we had to go get one ourselves. Poor customer service ruined what should have been a lovely meal.

In for mother's day lunch today and despite being gutted about no brunch options just the set menu the food was lovely and all made even better by the lovely Sarah who served us. Always good service when Sarah is on, I wish I seemed this happy at my job. Thanks again x

Just want to say thank you to all staff here and including Matt the sheff after my car broke down on the main road Matt came out and helped me push it into the car park thank you to the owners for allowing me to leave it there until it was collected after paying £1100 the day before for the car for it to break down and die thank you very much I really appreciate your help

We had a delightful experience at The Stables today. Rachel was exceptional as our server and, despite problems with staffing in the kitchen, the food was delicious (allbeit a little slow coming out from the kitchen - not a complaint I might add, as this space allowed us time to digest our food between courses). I can highly recommend The Stables as you always find the staff very welcoming & the food exceptional.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. Beth served me today and was exceptional.

Had dinner there last night very disappointing food was cold will not be back

The restaurant was lovely with nice little cosy corners to sit at. It is also family and pet friendly, staff very friendly, but I'm afraid the food was not good a big let down. I had fish cakes that tasted quite rubbish over cooked veg potatoes not the best. My friend had a different dish but couldn't eat most of it. Perhaps we were just unlucky. Poor quality of food. Wouldn't go back for this reason as we only ate part of our meal. Staff were so nice I didn't want to complain but I didn't leave a tip.

Really disappointed, we waited 30mins for drinks and an hour for our food order to be taken and then over 30mins for the food to come, we were pretty much ignored by staff, until one came and said "oh I didn't know youse were here, have you waited long". Not even asked for more drinks until after our food was served. The food was average, and one was cold. Kids wanted deserts but there was no way we were staying after the horrible service we'd already had, so stopped in at Lidl for deserts for them. Not like we were a small table we were 3 adults and 3 kids and spent over £100, will not be going back, such a shame as it's in a great location.

Exceptional service from both servers. Very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help throughout. Served by Mandy & Sarah. They should be the people who train others on how it should be done.

Our favourite place to come for a meal in Glasgow! We’ve always had lovely meals and service, the staff are always so friendly and such a warm and cosy atmosphere inside. Sarah, Mandy and Chef Mat have all been incredible. Thanks so much!!

Lovely place! Perfect for a stop when you’re walking along the Kirkintilloch canal. All staff are very accommodating and friendly to customers and dogs too, especially Mandy and Rachel who served us :) x

Had a terrific lunch with a friend today, first time visiting The Stables. Sarah served us and was very friendly and welcoming, great first impression from her for the staff, and the food was fantastic - thanks to chef Stu. Would definitely recommend this place.

Amazing service as always from Suzie. Always so welcoming and made some great suggestions. To Jack the chef food was lovely a minor point, some dressing on the salad that came with the Brie bites would have been great, but didn’t impact on the experience 👍

We love coming to this cosy country pub- especially as you can cycle/walk along the canal path to get there. It’s always a friendly welcome, good hearty food and roaring fires in the Winter. In summer you can sit outside and watch the boats pass down the canal- bliss! Good selection of pub grub with menus changing often. Always great service from Susie and the rest of the team- we had Jack in the kitchen today- top pies!

The staff are exceptional, they go about and beyond to make ever visit the best. We have been for lunch, dinner and taken the dog and every visit has be great.

Had a fabulous fish n chips although quite pricey by comparison to local competitors, we thought it was worth it for the good service.

A lovely restaurant with a great selection of food. We are awkward customers as I’m gluten free and my husband has a nut allergy. The staff were so knowledgeable about allergies and made sure that our food was safe. Sarah was a lovely server and took a genuine interest in talking to us and making us feel welcome. We had a starter and a main and all of the food was amazing. Our chef, Callum was a fab chef and the meals were cooked and presented to a very high standard. Coffees were top notch too! The staff were attentive and kind. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. We had a great Saturday night out here. Would definitely go back, thank you to the stables!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

What an amazing place. Allergy friendly the staff are amazing so friendly sarah and the team are brilliant. After our visit today we will definitely be back the food is amazing the atmosphere is brilliant. A homely restaurant with the smell of a wood fire with your dinner amazing. Can’t wait to come back.

A little bit disappointing on this occasion. The place was over booked for mother's Day. It was all very tense being told we had a fast turn around to get done by, but then the food taking over an hour to arrive because the poor staff were over run. Getting sat next to a dog cuddled up to my chair and letting off noxious gas for the duration didn't really add to the experience! 🤣😒
