The Spoke in Islington

Don’t usually leave reviews but a 3.5 is disgraceful for this place. We been here 3 times and all 3 times the food, coffee and juice was sublime.

Met family here for breakfast and what a wonderful place. Lovely welcoming atmosphere and great staff. Good selection on the menu and the vegan breakfast was excellent.

Came in this little gem last week! What a place, lovely staff, great burgers good atmosphere and banging coffee!! will be back

We were so lucky finding the Spoke for a whopping Sunday morning breakfast with bells on! Very pleasant atmosphere, lovely staff and all the art on the walls is for sale 😍

Very friendly staff with good options on the menu. Good for lunch or breakfast. Delicious toast with smoked salmon!! Higly recommended!!

My wife and I have visited The Spoke with our dog several times over the last few months, ordering burgers, cocktails and some of the breakfast items in our visits. The food has always been of decent quality and the coffee excellent. One thing that sets this place apart for me is how accommodating they are to our dog. They always make a fuss of him, give him water and give us a corner table to he can curl up quietly as we eat. We hadn't eaten at this place for a few years as we had previously received bad service from some of the staff, but recently all our experiences have been extremely positive - we are happy to have it back on our list of places to eat in Archway.

The fried chicken burger was uncooked wasn't nice staff offered to change it but was pink in middle not properly cooked. If wanted pink chicken would have under cooked it at home myself.

I mean 'amateurs' affectionately., and it's also much more interesting and dramatic to watch someone get things right when it fails to go disastrously wrong. No Insult intended to the staff of the Spoke, who are I'm sure";consumate Professionals but they don'look corporate standing together. The Salmon Cheesecake Special had all gone but the courgette fritters were interesting. The waitress advised me that it was her third ever latte - not bad by the way. In other words the normal cut and thrust of the restaurant dinning. Like I say, a patina of training and polish was missing, and was made up for with a talented enthusiasm which is always much more fun to watch.

I had my hopes up with all the positive reviews, I got a chicken and beef burger for myself and my partner and chips. The beef burger was rather greasy but ok, the chicken one had to throw away as it tasted off, the chips soggy as hell. We got a lemon drizzle poopy seed cake too and that was nice, quite buttery and sugary but since i had thrown away my burger I was glad it tasted ok. I Will not go back.

I’ve always loved Spoke. The food on the extensive menu is highly creative and always excellent. But - and given the rapidly rising infection rates this is important - there’s absolutely no visible effort to take any sensible Covid precautions. OK so you wait to be seated. Big deal. There’s little real spacing between tables and the place was pretty much full at lunchtime. But most significantly none of the staff wear masks. That might be ok if they kept their distance but all stand right up against the table when taking orders and lean across to pick up plates or glasses. The paper menus are clearly being used over and over again. I didn’t spot any hand sanitiser anywhere and the music is on loud so you have to raise your voice - something restaurants have been told to avoid as shouting spreads droplets etc. I’m not super paranoid but I’ve been into enough cafes and restaurants that are taking sensible precautions to be shocked when one isn’t bothering at all. Literally it’s like a little bubble from the pre-Covid world. For the sake of staff as well as customers Spoke needs to get its act together. I’ve been a regular since it opened. I’d love to support it through these difficult times but I expect a little bit of common sense in exchange.

Prompt, friendly service. Food was clearly home made, and tasty. Prawn burger is an unusual choice and tasty. Very informal. Enjoyed it.

Been there with a friend to drink something after work. We got a bottle of Merlot. The wine was a bit too warm instead of room temperature. Then we got a burger with hand cut chips. The meat was very very good, cooked perfectly, juicy, tasty. Chips were simply fantastic, the best ones ever had. The reason I cannot rate with 5 stars is the service. Everyone is gentle and polite but they insisted too much to order food. Strongly recommended

I live locally and have been several times, always with mediocre service but reasonable food. However last time I went, I had to give my order several times because I wanted to swap the weird lamb sausage for egg. Instead they served me extra sausage and no egg. They don’t listen then got very shirty when I complained. I had to wave to get a drink, even then they studiously ignored me. Lazy, disinterested staff will make you feel like they are doing you a massive favour for what is overpriced food. You might be lucky and not get treated like this. They have missed out on a lot of business from me as I love a fry up.

Nicely relaxed feel. Chilled music. Nice decor. Ordered the Mac and cheese bites.... lovely! The sweet potato and courgette fritters on quinoa salad was a little ruined by the huge amounts of herb/ spice. Ate the quinoa and avocado left the fritters as was not nice at all. Shame there wasn’t a check back so I could’ve asked for a change?

You can always depend on The Spoke to deliver good food. I often have the lamb burger, but today it was eggs.

Vivo localmente y siempre quiero que este lugar sea mejor. Es un espacio encantador para sentarse (aunque las computadoras portátiles están prohibidas durante el almuerzo y la noche). El personal era amable pero lento y no atento: tuvimos que llamar su atención para todo, más bebidas, postres, café, en lugar de que nos preguntaran si nos gustaría algo.Las hamburguesas eran decentes, pero no increíbles. Las patatas fritas estaban bien, el café encantador.

Lamentablemente, como visitante solo intentaron engañarme con cualquier lugar cómodo en el bar, a pesar de que había una mesa vacía (pero solo para cuatro personas), una gran vergüenza que suele ir con amigos, pero ya no. Actitud codiciosa. Ya tienes una lista de muchos más clientes.

Incluso como turista, me aseguro de ir al Spoke cada vez que visito a mi hija. Ella vive cerca, y es un gran lugar para tomar un café con leche o una comida. La comida es muy sabrosa y el precio es justo. ¡Y estar allí te da una sensación real de lo que es estar en el verdadero Londres, el de los lugareños!

At breakfast, they have some delicious freshly baked sausage rolls! Sometimes on rare occasions, they do also have scotch eggs at their pastry selection. Breakfast is delicious, super Yums! I highly respect their staff good management of seats allocation. Fair and systematic! Highly recommended

Qué pequeña joya de lugar es este. Lo encontré en nuestro camino a casa después de un festival y quería un lugar pequeño y acogedor para un desayuno decente. Ambiente relajado, melodías decentes en el fondo y excelente comida. Todo el personal era encantador también! Definitivamente regresaremos el año que viene.

No hay duda de que este es un lugar agradable con comida muy decente. Pero no vayas cuando están arreglando la máquina de café. Una especie de pánico ciego de 'salud y seguridad' toma el relevo y el personal parece creer que no puede acercarse al área de la máquina de café y se suspenden todos los derechos de los clientes a bebidas calientes de cualquier tipo. Ni siquiera hervirán un hervidor. Aparentemente está demasiado cerca del hombre que está arreglando la máquina de café. Además, si bien la cocina puede parecer abierta, no se permite traer bebidas calientes como sustitutos, incluso de manera temporal, para acompañar la comida de su chef. Este tipo de inflexibilidad crea la impresión de inhospitalidad y hostilidad. ¿Podemos superarlo? Claro, pero una política más imaginativa cuando la máquina de café está siendo reparada ayudaría.

Really nice gym of a restaurant. Super friendly and obliging staff. Excellent menu selection that caters for vegan. coeliac and meat eater alike. I had the lamb burger and my special order came out exactly as I asked. Would definitely go back.

Nipped in here on a late Sunday afternoon for a coffee and a slice of cake.

Cuando dije que estaba comiendo, él se echó atrás sin disculparse. El lugar estaba alrededor de 3/4 lleno en el momento. De hecho, esta actitud me hace desistir de regresar: está bien tener una regla de que a la hora del almuerzo las personas que toman una copa se sientan en el bar, pero hacen que esa sea la regla y las personas que se dirigen cuando entran, no que intenten ordenarles una vez que hayan terminado. Me he establecido. Y no lo hagas con las computadoras portátiles, eso es realmente una tontería en un café en 2019, ¿y un iPad o un teléfono grande es una computadora portátil? Como han dicho otros, es necesario resolver su actitud de servicio en general, si lo hace, sería genial.

Sospecho que The Spoke fue una vez un pub, pero ahora es en gran medida un lugar de reunión inconformista con cosas como avodcado aplastado, pan de masa agria y hamburguesas de gambas en el menú.

I had a Full English Breakfast and the portion wasn’t too much but its quality was excellent. Loved the natural juices.

The establishment is slightly misleading from the outside as it looks like a traditional pub, but isn’t – so this creates problems from the start.

I went to this place on the 20th of August with my friend and girlfriend, I visited this place before and everything was really good, the food was amazing the service was amazing and I never thought I would encounter that kind of problem, especially in the UK. The problem started when the waitress forgot to add vanilla syrup to my girlfriends coffee, she was telling us she added but she clearly did not or did not add enough, so she was speaking to my girlfriend in a very rude way so I had to interrupt her and just ask to add it (which she did in the end but double charged us for this). The main problem started when we asked for a bill, 12.5% discretionary service charge was included in the bill, my Girlfriend kindly asked to exclude the service charge, but the waitress said that this is not possible because it is compulsory and you have to pay it, so my girlfriend paid it, before we left I decided to check the menu as usually to make your service charge compulsory you have to state on the menu before the customer would order, which they did but it said discretionary, not compulsory, this problem pissed me off as I hate when people are lying to me, I came to the counter told her that the service charge was discretionary and that there is no point to lie to me, she started lying again saying that its compulsory that I can write a complain, then I pointed her a line in the menu where it says discretionary, she went to chef for some reason and he told her to refund it, she told me okay ill refund it to you because we don't need your coins, initially we paid by card, but she decided to refund 4.9 service charge in 10,20p coins however I clearly saw she had lots of 2pounds and 1 pound coins in the till, so I was standing with my hand full of 10,20 p coins, (still kindly) asking for refund via card as we paid by card she told me its not possible, however, I demanded to get a refund by card, so the chef came to her again and asked to do it and she did it. In the end, she told us to never come back here. Hopefully the management at least sometimes reading those reviews here and will do something about it! (for their reference in the receipt the name was Ira, the girl was covered in tattoos and face piercings and she had blue/turquoise hair color. Please do something about that, because this is unacceptable!

After much thought and consideration, I have come to the conclusion that The Spoke has the best baked beans I have ever tasted.

Lugar, claramente muy aburrido con aspiraciones en su deseo de ofrecer algo diferente, pero las cataratas muy plana. Algunos de los servicios más inflexible que me he encontrado. Los gustos de la comida de nada - la variedad habitual de aguacate, cansado de vinagre balsámico y masa fermentada en varias combinaciones. Been twice in the last two days. Really impressed with the quality of the food, the menu, fresh juices and lovely staff!!!

La comida era normal, pero el ambiente era relajado y cómodo. Así, si quieres llevar niños pequeños a un restaurante, y están cerca de North London, hablaba es una buena opción.

After 2 days staying in Islington we came across the Spoke. The coffee was the best I had over my entire stay in London and the scrambled eggs - awesome.

We had breakfast at The Spoke while we were on holiday in London. They make a great capuccino and offer some delicious cakes. The personnel was extremely polite and joyful. Definetly a place I will go back to when I will be in London!

Grabbed a takeaway black Americano in this trendy looking cafe which looks like it used to be a pub in a grandish corner spot. The coffee was fine.

My daughter takes me to this venue when I visit London. We take my little grandson.

Spoke is one of the better offerings in Archway it’s got modern food that is consistently good and it’s a bit of a standout against local fare. However, comes they get a bit overrun and service takes a while. It’s also a bit overpriced for what it is.

Cogimos un vistazo en el brunch demasiado mientras yo estaba esperando a tan sólo un minuto para mi comida para llevar - parecía increíble. This is one of the best cafes in Upper Holloway - the breakfast in particular is really good and great value. You won't find a better coffee around Archway.

Hablaba es realmente local que es donde yo vivo, y he sido para el desayuno, el almuerzo y la cena, y siempre he tenido una fantástica comida y buen servicio. Normalmente me la hamburguesa, patatas fritas y hamburguesa y su salsa son deliciosos, y claramente casera. Esta mañana me fui para el desayuno por primera vez con mi familia y todos inglés completo. Estaban totalmente bien con nuestro pequeños cambios y todo llegó muy rápido, caliente y delicioso. Sigan viniendo.

I am often visitor as the Spoke is one of my favorite coffee shop in North London. Delicious breakfast options (English breakfast, BLT sandwich) or evening meals (burgers and chips), pastries (almond croissants) and dessert (Marina Ices ice cream) plus great, friendly service. Good coffee and food. Definitely above average standard of brunch type dishes. Friendly staff. The room is a little strangely set up, it feels like everyone is watching you.

Stopped by for dinner the first evening, Saturday at around 7pm, and were informed that the kitchen was closed. Suspect that it was due to a shortage of staff, but disappointing none the less as they were scheduled ot be open until midnight. Went back today for a late lunch, much better experience. Very relaxing, eclectic environment. Food was very good, although a little over-priced. Worth a stop, if convenient in your travels.

We went in while passing by so I was a bit surprised seeing the varying reviews here. Aside from being a bit slow at times service was great. We went for late breakfast and the food served was perfect in both presentation and taste. They also had Vedett on tap which made it the perfect place to have a nice beer alongside the food.

Dropped in by change for breakfast.It was extremely good - possibly one of the best I have had in London.Service and food first class. Lunch and dinner menu look good as well so we will be back for dinner one night before going to the Arsenal. Great atmosphere and very pleasant experience all round.

Enjoyed a stunning coffee last weekend in this charming little cosy caffe, and was delighted with the excellent service from Stephen, who really went above and beyond to make my morning as lovely as possible. All staff should aspire to be as charming as him. He also had a great haircut.

We were served by Hayley who was very friendly and competent. She cleared a table for the four of us immediately and was always on hand with water, napkins etc. She had just started to checked any questions we had with the chef. My mum and I had the cheeseburger which was delicious and my sisters had the goats cheese with ratatouille and salad, which were also very tasty. The total cost of four meals (all with chips) was less than £50. I would definitely recommend Spoke for an enjoyable lunch. It's located five minutes' walk away from Archway tube station.

I have been here a few times for brunch and was surprised to see the menu has changed and is really good. There is a good range for brunch/lunch, I'm fussy and was spoilt for choice.The staff are always attentive and although food is cooked to order it's never a very long wait. The prices are average for London, but worth what you're getting.

I heard from this place from neighbours and wanted to try it out. It is a quirky little cozy cafe I would say. I went there to have food with family and friends. The food was nice, the service was friendly and even apologised for not having the dish that I initially ordered. I would recommend this place if you are looking to have a chilling coffee break

Nice place but why treat your customers like thieves?Ive never had to pay for a meal up front before.starting with the assumption that your customers will run off without paying is pretty bad.When the beer came it was slammed down aggressively.The salt beef was fatty and chewy.All in all a dreadful lunch.

Quirky and friendly, very good burgers and excellent cheap cocktails. I wouldn't travel for to go here but as a local its really good and always nice to see an independent burger place.

Popped in to try it out after the cinema on Saturday evening. It was winding down and pretty empty. Staff were really friendly even though it was clearly the end of a busy day. Pulled pork in a bun was great, generous sides - really good value. My wife wanted some cake and because it was the last piece and a 'bit dry' we were not charged. Will certainly be back to try a different offering - might bring the kids. Recommended.

I go every few weeks, but this place has gone down hill. Left me outside in the cold (with my bike), didn't offer me to go inside (freezing, and it is called the Spoke...). I had to go in after 10 minutes to ask for a menu, then 15 minutes for them to take my order. A further 15 minutes to get my coffee - I got up and left. Can't handle their business.

This café has the now-mandatory semi-industrial, tiled interior but it's none the less pleasant for that...grey tiles, school furniture, and bits and bobs arrayed around the walls make it a nice place to sit and while away some time. It's busy, full of parents with little kids and stylish people having Skype meetings in equal measure. The coffee's good, they serve water as soon as you arrive, and the breakfast we had was very good - my partner had brioche with berries and creme fraiche, while I had their signature avocado and onion mush on toast with scrambled egg, which was delicious (I asked them not to serve the salmon). We enjoyed it here and will come back.

This place is obviously very popular and was busy this Sunday morning. The sign said wait to be seated. So we did. For more than 5 minutes. None of the staff were serving or cooking. 3 were stood behind the counter talking.We gave up and went to Costa next door

4 of us visited The Spoke on Holloway Road for brunch on a Sunday- just what we needed after a morning's DIY. We all had a variation on a burger and all four were delicious; side dishes of sweet potato chips were particularly good as was the pulled pork burger. The coffee was excellent too- really mild. Excellent customer service and food made for a great venue for brunch :) To be recommended.

Have eaten here many times and always enjoyed it. The food is fresh and tasty, the drinks too. It would be nice to see a few more vegetarian dishes as I've had the same thing several times! The staff are nice and helpful. It's great to have a unique place with its own style in this neighbourhood, which mainly offers high street coffee bars and greasy spoons. Keep it up Spoke! You do what you do very well.

Local coffee shop in Holloway Road. Great urban/modern indoors, quite friendly staff, nice coffees, nice selection of food. Mostly busy during morning time for coffee/breakfast but remains open till late for lunch/dinner. Quite noisy though if you want to read/do work on laptop, and a bit overpriced considering that you are not in the most "trendy/hipster" area of London.

I've lived on the same road as the Spoke for 2 years now and have never been until today. I went with my parter and three year old daughter. It's a quirky little place and our waitress was sweet. I ordered a cheese burger which I was surprised didn't come with any sides for £7.50 as many other joints do. My daughter had the kids mini burgers and my partner had mac and cheese and the sour dough with houmous.My burger was the best cheese burger that I've tasted in North London, it was absolutely brilliant! However, the value for money is AWFUL as it didn't come with any side at all, not even a bit of salad. My daughter's burgers looked sweet and she polished off the plate (unusual for her). She had 2 perfectly toddler sized burgers with a lot of chips. I felt a little irritated that her £6 meal came with chips and my meal didn't (the chips were so nicely cooked).My partners houmous and bread went down well, he loved it! However, I wasn't a fan of his mac and cheese. It tasted really rich, the cheddar used was much too sweet! It could have done with either a stronger, less sweet tasting cheese or some dijon mustard... I really disliked the that dish, however my partner seemed to like it, his only gripe being that it was too rich.For the brilliant taste of my burger and the perfect-ness of my daughters burger I tipped them. However, for a night out or special occasion I would not come here. There are hundreds of better quality restaurants in London with better value for money (like vapiano's). However, as I said, they have the best cheese burgers I've ever tasted in North London.

the spoke feels like a very nice place to hang around. there is a mix bunch of folk at this quirky yet dull kind of place.On my visit there was a lot of yummy mummies with all the latest prams(the size of a range rover) all comparing babies, nappies and all baby related stuff. a few people making the most out of the free WiFi and 3 cute but clueless girls running the show.it was right after work and decided to have a beautiful craft pale ale. it was very good indeed. i was a bit peckish and i was recommended the nachos by one of the clueless girls. i asked if all the toppings were homemade and she said yes. the nachos were more like a cheap version of tangy cheesy Doritos, The salsa was out of a bottle and more like a relish than a fresh salsa. It is worth mentioning that for some bizarre reason there was 2 pools of this horrible relish on each side of the plate. a little soured cream on the side sprinkled with paprika. As for the guacamole, the only home made topping, it was black rather than green, obviously old, insipid, absolutely shocking. can't omit the 5 slices of jalapeno peppers scattered around. £6.75 is not too expensive but when you pay for that quality it is a bit insulting. Oh !! the CHEESE wasn't melted properly.. i will stop there. not good. would I go again? maybe not....

Love the vibe at the Spoke and was looking forward to dinner. We both ordered the Po Boy which turned out to be a bun with some rocket and six very small king prawns (not in breadcrumbs), no garnish, salad and chips extra. They cost £7.80 each. Plus they were really bland (I complained and swapped mine but my partner persevered, adding in the extra six prawns from mine). Really bad value and super disappointing. Wouldn't go back for food.

Went for breakfast , very good and strong coffee , wife had a cappuccino and said it was great . The 2 meals we had were very good , the egg platter was amazing and the wife's egg sandwich was good ( likes her scrambled eggs cooked a bit more ) . Very nice staff and friendly organized place . Easy Wi-Fi and great corner location .

The walls are festooned with bike wheels, bells and the odd handle bar. I have yet to meet a cyclist in this eccentric place. But the coffee and muesli make a pleasant breakfast - and burgers are served throughout the rest of the day. A v good place to sit all day and answer emails on their free wi-fi while watching the world come in and go out. Very light and friendly atmosphere.

Visited for the first time yesterday. Didn't see a prices board for food so ordered a bacon and egg sandwich to take away. That'll be £7.10 please! I will say it was a nice bacon and egg sandwich though. Even still I think that's a bit much for a humble ol bacon and egg sarnie. Perhaps other items are better value so will check before ordering next time.

This place is good for hanging out and having a meeting, but wouldn't recommend for its food or drinks per se. It was quiet on a Thursday night, which was pleasant. The food is disappointing, burgers had no sides save for a pickle, the chips were very very dark brown in colour. MehhhhhDrinks weren't great, prices are not normal...wouldn't recommend eating here at all.

We have been to the spoke many times and the food and coffee are always goodHowever the tables are sticky even after they have been wiped so you don't want to lean on them

A nice little cafe/bistro just out of the hustle and bustle of London with a simple yet effective menu. The food is top notch and the coffee is one of the best I've ever had. Serves cocktails as well which are quite fancy and well made. The place also has a nice chilled out vibe where you can read or work comfortably whilst you enjoy your food and drinks. Definitely becoming a regular place for me to visit.

This small local venue has very good food made with fresh ingredients. We were there for a weekend lunch/brunch and both the breakfasts and the lunch items were very good, with the exception of under-ripe avocados in one of the salads. The full english and full english veggie breakfasts were excellent. The service was good, if a bit harried with so many people to serve.

We ordered breakfast and 3 coffees. 55 minutes after were ask to either order anything else or leave as 'they were crowded because it is saturday morning' Shameful!!!! Absolute awful experience to be rushed in your only day off of the week!!!

Excellent coffee, amazing food (brunch and evening burgers), nice little wine and beer selection. And best of all the laid back, independent atmosphere of the place. It's a place that serves coffee but also alcohol and is thus ideal for many different situations. It's also great for getting some work done during the day.

Go here regularly to meet family and friends . Child Friendly with high chairs and changing faculties. Love the sausage sandwich and the veggie breakfast. Friend was underwhelmed with the salt beef sandwich not cut off a brisket but still one of my fav place for lunch or afternoon coffee with cake .

i visited the place on sunday morning for breakfast and bloody merry and the place was not crowded but the service took looooonger that i was expecting, we ask why and the waitress said it was only one guy behind the bar....even thoug the food is nice and the service is friendly.

While enjoying a few days vacation in London with my partner and kids, we came across The Spoke for a traditional English breakfast. Seduced by the food, ambiance and friendliness of the area, especially so close to our hotel, we decided to come back that same evening for our last meal before catching the train back to Brussels. Cheese burgers with mixed chips (mix of normal and sweet potato chips) for the grown-ups, macaroni and cheese for the kids. I was a bit surprised by the weird seasoning of the chips and the tastelessness of the macaroni but, overall, enjoyed the experience. My partner and kids were delighted. We came back to the hotel and prepared for the night. Then it all went haywire...woke up at 1 PM feeling dizzy, had to rush to the loo...and ended up being sick, badly sick, I could literally recount everything I ate that day (only breakfast and evening meal...both from the same restaurant, hum...), to the point I thought that I would have to go to the hospital and miss my train. 2 days later, I am still sick, recovering slowly. As my partner and the kids had nothing, it seems that it was "just" bad luck, but I'm known to have a tough stomach that is not that easily disturbed so that in all that ordeal, I just thank my "dumb" luck that it was me and not my kids or a less healthy person being served filthy food. I will never go back to that place. Ever.

Food - juicy burgers with red cheddar! have been a numerous amount of times and i always choose the same (double pate, bacon, cheese, jalepenos) and Pilsner beer (not as good as from a Czech bar but pretty close). I went there few times as my office used to be only few metres away. I immediately liked the setting, a mix between a pub and a cafe, very much wanted in Archway. I had the most delicious mint tea made with lots of fresh leaves and another time a freshly squeezed orange juice. It was a bit busy but still very pleasant!

We popped in for dinner to grab a burger and a beer. The place is groovy enough, with a trendy feel. They have some nice unusual juices on offer and tailor your requests the best they can, for example, our Dad asked for lemon and ginger tea, which they didn't have - but the next we knew they brought us a delicious home made brew with a lemon wedge and root ginger! They have a good range, from all out carnivore to catering for vegetarians too.The value for money is what lets The Spoke down unfortunately. But it's location that you're paying for. The food itself is good, albeit pricey!

I have been walking around the borough to see if I could find any hidden gems and was rewarded when I found The Spoke on Holloway Rd. Being Australian in very fussy about my coffee and the barista at the Spoke knew how to get the best from that gorgeous coffee machine behind the counter. The place looks great, communal tables for those who like to mingle and plenty of other seating including a beautiful chesterfield sofa. I'll be heading back soon.

Went for a Sunday brunch with a group of friends and although we forgot to reserve, they found us a nice table right away. Love everything about this place, atmosphere, service, ambiance and of course the food and drinks, all of which was perfect. I had their porridge and berries and advocado on toast, both delicious. Just wish I had this place at the end of our road!

Whole family happy with menu variety - some opted for having 'healthy' brunch and others went straight for cheese burgers. All plates clean at the end.Staff are great and it's generally a treat to come here

Only posh takeaway burger in archway / Holloway worth having. Have also eaten in and enjoyed it. The mixed chips weren't quite as crisp as they could be but still delicious

I've been to The Spoke several times. It's a great place in North London to stop by and have lunch or just a coffee with your laptop. Burgers are tasty and unique. Best veggie burger I've tried in London so far. Ask for sweet potatoes! The place is really comfy and cool, and you'll always get nicest service. I highly recommend it!

Veggie burger was bland and dull. No humus in the burger as said on menu. All very "let's serve things on fancy plates and pretend were.cool" four pounds for a.side of fries and £7.50 for a not strong cocktail. I won't go back.

The food, coffee, service and atmosphere were all very good. Full English was refreshingly different. Well worth a visit for brunch. Reasonable value for location. Missed 5 star narrowly only from value for money aspect.

My last visit was very disappointing, however as the carrot cake is to die for I thought I would give the Spoke another try. Today the breakfast brioche was very tasty and full of great ingredients, the orange juice fresh and the cappuccino acceptable. The carrot cake, supposed to be a mid afternoon treat, as usual was exceptional. The only disappointing part of my visit was the service. The young man took my money, and I waited patiently for my change. As he walked away from the till I mentioned the change as I presumed he merely forgot. I did not expect such rudeness, being accused of lying about the amount that I had paid, and to have to argue for several minutes. To be honest, if not for the rudeness I would have just walked away. The main reason it seemed for not giving me my change was that he had "already rung it up"! Such a shame that good food, not to mention my morning, were ruined by a very rude young man. I was the only, and possibly the first, customer. There was no need for the level of rudeness or such negative attitude in service from this server. It would be good if one day I could visit and find both food and service compliment each other, and I could have a pleasurable experience. But I shall not be trying for a while!

Lovely surprise to find this place in holloway. I was here for the first time on monday evening, meeting a friend on a monday eve i wanted something local as i live 2 min awaythe food was great, the service even better!the atmosphere is cool, nice vibe, theres couples and guys that has finished playing football and go there for a burger, they seemed very happy with their food, thats when you know its great food when people enjoy it, not only eat it because they are hungry! i had a salad that the waiter recommended an strawberry frozen yogurt that was really nice, my friend a sandwich which was delicious and mojitos which at the end were perfect as the waiter very kindly listen to all my suggestions ;)) I'm an expert in mojitos ha!my friend reckons maybe for the area its a bit pricy? a salad a sandwich a frozen yogurt and 5 mojitos, £60? i don't think so though' all and all a lovely place ill be coming back! i didn't know i had such a lovely place around the corner, lovely surprise!!ps. but i must say though, that right now they have the hottest waiter in town, no kidding, i let you know if you wanna come check him out ;) goddam ha

Great to find something a little different in this neighbourhood. I have visited before for coffee which was good and again today for food. The burgers are good and tasty and filling. The service was very friendly but a little on the slow side. Will come again.

This place used to combine really top notch cafe food with friendly and efficient service, not cheap but worth it. But as it became immensely popular and has lost its original chef food is not as good. Service has gone down too. Last time I took a friend there only to find it was closed for a film shoot.. Today I had to wait to be 'seated' even though there were plenty of tables and once seated was studiously ignored to the point I walked out.

Great good, great atmosphere, great service. Really friendly cafe with great food, good for going with children or 'adults only' both day and in the evenings. Always had good service, accomodated dietary requirements with ease and provided really good food. Highly recommend this.
