Great to have Rhi and all her lovely staff back in action again. Warm and friendly service. As normal armosphere as possible here but obviously restrictions with. Covid at mo. Feels friendly and above all safe here.

Came for the Tonbridge beer weekend as well as dinner. Decent beef pie and chicken swarma wrap though pie had a only a small amount of veg with it. Chips good. Beer good from cellar head too all reasonably priced. Good yo have enough room on a saturday night and whilst the rugby and football was on.

Popped in here for a bit of lunch and was impressed with everything. Service quick and friendly with lots of choice. Food was good and served fairly quickly and place was well presented.Overall really good value with lunch menu that costs £6.95 or £7.95 that includes a drink, the higher price for a pint or a wine. On a par cost wise to the Weatherspoons down the road but better staff, better service and better place.

I really enjoyed my meal here. The pie was very tasty. I would definitely recommend it. The atmosphere is nice, as well.

Having spent the morning in the rugby club after the World Cup Final we went to the Gatehouse for lunch. Despite a busy morning the pub was clean and easy to get served and the food was delivered in good time and was really good as ever

Okay sport viewing (with no commentary), average food and literally no need for a DJ at the weekend at all as it ruins the atmosphere completely and you have to shout to have any sort of conversation

My husband and I have had evening meals here which have been very good so we thought we'd try a breakfast as Wetherspoons has become samey and at times disappointing. We were not let down. Ian had a full English for £5.75.For this he got 2 sausages, 2 rashers, 2 fried eggs, baked beans, hash browns, mushroims (lovely) grilled tomatos and buttered toast. Piping hot freshly cooked and delicious. I'd also recommend the filtered coffee. Well worth a visit. The staff are lovely and friendly too.

Love this pub on the High Street. It’s a good size, has lots of beers on tap (some of them pretty unusual), friendly staff and a decent menu for food. It’s got loads of screens showing sport too, but not blaring loud so you can ignore them if you aren’t interested.I popped in once for a quick beer and liked it so much that it’s now my go-to pub in Tonbridge.

This is a complicated one because the the food was very very good I can’t complain and the staff were fast and helpful the only issue I have is when u serve a fish finger roll I believe that the the batted fish should cover the whole roll . The roll should not have two small pieces on it that when joined only covers half the roll ..... but even after that the food was great and please less dust(flower) on the roll

Ate lunch here on a Friday. We all had burgers, they offer a good range in the menu. We had cocktails and beer too. Cocktails were a good price, and they had a good range of options. Lots of seating area and TVs for sport.

Visited lunch time for a quick drink and snack, TV screens everywhere but thankfully not blaring out the results of the 1:30 at Kempton. Usual array of popular drinks and pub food, but with some craft beers and ciders.Clearly popular with mums (& even a dad!) with little ones, not a problem as they were generally under control.Food was OK, but it's not the place to go for fine dining. There is a small seated area at the front where you could enjoy your burger and pint whilst inhaling diesel fumes from the adjacent bus stop & swap pleasantries with a steady stream of nicotine adddicts.

We hadn’t visited pubs in Tonbridge for quite a while and this one came well recommended. There were five of us looking for some quick refreshment early on a Wednesday evening ahead of a meal nearby. It’s a large place just north of the river with plenty of available space for a relaxing drink. The Bombay Sapphire gin tasted a bit odd, but they happily replaced it with a different gin that was good. Decent Doom Bar plus a wide selection of other beers. Not as cheap as Wetherspoons but definitely a good choice.

Love the choice of food and drink here. Has a quirky theme with board games you can play whilst dining!

Six of us were meeting up for a birthday celebration. One of the party had to bring their dog with them at the last moment so had to cancel our booking elsewhere.

After walking my hound through the park in the rain, where else better to go for the Full English? Being so "Dog Friendly" my choice was made for me. Great food, Great Chef, oh and they serve some great beer too.

Some staff are racist especially one girl at the bar.

We have the best dog friendly pub in town. Great menu, upgrading soon. Beer and cocktails to die for, as well as being reasonably priced. Love the staff and management here, always so friendly and helpful.

The lower section of this bar is dog friendly, perfect for us. Popped in for lunch with my teenage daughter, good choice and reasonably priced. We had to wait a while for our order but this wasn’t a problem and when it came up mine was wrong. The waitress was pleasant and apologetic and said she would sort it straight away which she did. It was rectified quickly and a refund of difference was given swiftly. We then decided to share the sundae pint, glad we decided to share as between us we didn’t finish it. We both enjoyed everything we had and said we would definitely visit again.

This is a wonderful working bakery on an atmospheric building. Fabulous breakfast and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We sat out on the peaceful and secluded terrace at the back. Throughly lovely.

Ive been here a few times now with work colleagues, we generally enjoy it, 2 for 1 cocktails are lovely, bogof pizzas are great, ive even come with a friend for wing wednesday, wings for £3 & they were lovely, service is good, food is lovely & i would definitely recommemd

On Friday 20 July a family group of 11 ranging from 13 years to 79 years requested a table to have a meal. We were told we could have one at 8:45pm. We arrived and were able to sit down straight away. As it is an 'order your food at the bar' system, myself and my son went down to order all the meals. During the ordering we were told that a few items we had chosen from the Tapas menu were unavailable. This was fine and we got it sorted with alternatives. We ended up waiting for nearly an hour and a half before the food started to arrive. There was only one young girl bringing the food out, so I helped with dishing the meals out where they were meant to be. There was an error in that there was an extra pizza brought out that wasn't ordered and then the tapas order was wrong. We ordered two of the 5 tapas and two of the 3 tapas, but she had put it through as three 5 tapas which meant one of the tapas dishes wasn't brought out. That eventually got sorted and they did bring out the missing dish. When we eventually got our food (of which mine was the last and most people had finished before I got mine) it was actually quite nice. The one meal of Mac n Cheese was too burnt around the edge and so couldn't eat it all though. My husband complained to the manager, who in fairness gave us a very reasonable discount. As we all had a very long day ahead of us the following day, we sorted out the money which was correct and myself and my eldest son took it to the bar, gave it to a lady and got in our taxi which was waiting outside. The next thing my husband came out to say that the rest of the party were being stopped from leaving the premises by the manager because we hadn't paid! I went in to sort it out and the manager was adamant that the bill had not been settled. I told him I had paid and even took him to the member of staff who had received the money (he was serving someone at the time of me paying so I gave it to a colleague). She acknowledged that the bill had in fact been paid in full and settled. We have never been so embarrassed in public. He did not offer an apology. He give us some money back, but this is not the point. If they were understaffed they should not have accepted a table of 11 at that time of night. Is this a sign of a greedy company, just wanting to take peoples money at the expense of a good experience and service???? It was a shame that what had begun as a lovely family gathering was spoilt by bad service and a terrible attitude.

Got severed within seconds, the cocktails are amazing! They do 2 for 1 from 5-8 Monday-Friday, luckily we got there at 6oclock so we got to try out the majority of them. and yes they do the cocktails properly, unlike wetherpsoons... the food came within 10 minutes, we were very impressed!! The food was amazing, I had the pizza and my friend had the steak! This is the best place to eat in Tonbridge I would say with confidence

My husband and I arrived late to stay in Tonbridge and needed to eat, reviews for here were good and a stones throw from our hotel. The food was good and it was very loud and lively, I thought it was great however my husband was very out of his comfort zone as it was really for a much younger clientele than us. One thing though is that the ‘juice’ to substitute for the J2O or Frobisher that I usually drink was a very expensive and unpleasant squash not juice

My Daughter and I decided to pop in whilst in town for a quick lunch. We both had the Bacon Cheese Burger which was a delight and full of flavour.

We went to Gatehouse for a cocktail masterclass which was hosted by Cee-Jay. We had an excellent night, nothing too much trouble, he set up the party decorations and drinks table and was a fun, attentive host.

We are regulars here now as we love the food, it always comes out within 10-15 mins. Excellent service, always with a smile and you get served within minutes! They even do table service so you don't even have to walk to the bar :)

We stopped by for dinner at this place right near Tonbridge Castle. My companion had Hunter's Chicken and I enjoyed macaroni and cheese, both of which were delicious. I would eat here again

Good selection of beers and lots of screens to watch sport on - food is also great although it can be a bit slow. Although if you're there for the football that doesn't matter!

Met up with friends because the local rugby had been postponed and the clubhouse was closed because of the snow. Great early evening drinks together with some sharing platters and pizza. Only one slight complaint they had run out of pizza base so we couldn't have the number we had ordered.

Went here with friends and family and had a really nice lunch.

We did cocktail making here for my daughter’s hen do. She thoroughly enjoyed it as did the other 15 ladies. The staff were great fun and made us feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble.

Came in to watch the rugby and was really impressed. Beer is excellent and the food is great. Very popular place right on the high street. Only criticism being they need more staff behind the bar for big events as the wait was a bit...

My first visit to this chain owned pub was some time ago before they launched their rebranded new-look contemporary feel venue now known as the Gatehouse.

What an absolute gem of a pub, great food great staff, atmosphere was top and above all an epic host, I will be making this place a priority on my nights out, highly recommended!!!!!

Visited after having an issue at another establishment nearby. Called to check on table and food waits lovely lady on the phone. Arrived to a warm and cozy pub with a great selection of food. Food arrived in a timely manner with fantastic friendly service. Great value for money with the kids menu and 2 for £11 menus being valid on Sundays. Will definitely be visiting again.

I have visited here a few times now since it opened and have never been disappointed. The food is really tasty with a great menu and is always delivered with a smile.

I went here with my partner and two friends who were visiting from London. This place is fantastic. The staff are really friendly and happy. The menu is big and they have loads of special offers on all the time. The value is excellent. We ordered a load of items to share including wings, and we couldn't finish the food.

I frequently visit this establishment with my wife and daughter for a lovely lunch , cracking roast dinner, a great menu to suit most , varied range of ales ciders wines etc, also a great pub for a night out , tv's for sport , bingo nights, comedy nights, always lots going on , well done ceejay Williams( general manager) for turning it into a cracking all round great place

Wonderful team. Friendly and happy to help you. Food is great value and decent sized potions. The sharing platter is amazing and so are the burgers.

My fiancé and I popped in for breakfast & it was actually very nice. We had 2 full English’s which were a good size & nicely cooked.

Came for dinner and England game. New tapas menu was good with burnt ends particularly nice. Good steak and pie. Not so sure about the bacon twists. Good kgb beers. 7 pints for 6 card stamp offer till end of October too.

Deliciously dirty night. Standup comedy with macaroni cheese burger. Food not for the weight conscious. Comics not for shrinking violets. We are neither so great night.

What can I say!!!!Whilst driving along the Main Street trying to find our hotel, we spotted a bar which we fancied popping into for a drink. On the whole we enjoyed our evening, the only down side was, the drinks were rather expensive

Nothing to fault about this pub, staff are great, food is great, drink choice and serve are great and they always have something going on including Sky and BT now! Love it

Went to try as they sell a good range of beer/Ales. Seating is poor with loud music and Sports on the TV. Went in and came out with Ear ache. Full of Kids with mobiles.

Being a chef myself it's always difficult to go out. But I came here for lunch and was greeted by a very nice by the young lady behind the bar. She was really nice and helpful! I feel sorry for the chefs on a busy night because the menu has a big range of items and tapas bits, all at a very good price. Different deals on different days. Only one complaint.. the mozzarella had came out of the "balls" during the frying process. But our lunch was perfect and perfect service. We will be back

My family and I had lunch at the gatehouse and were impressed with the food. I had the sharing nachos as main without sour cream as I don't eat dairy. I was impressed with the quality and quantity of the food. The service was great too, very happy waitor - nothing was too much trouble. The gatehouse is very affordable and we enjoyed our experience - we will be eating there again!

This is a brilliant addition to Tonbridge. Staff are great and got me trying different things. The draught mango cider was incredible!!!! Atmosphere is friendly and chilled. I had a great time!

Came for a family lunch. Beer selection more varied than normal with dorking brewery theme as well as elgoods lazy dog and robinsons trooper. Everyone enjoyed their food inc burgers, mac n cheese, bangers and mash and scampi and chips. Still a fav for us in town since it opened.

Staff are amazing, food is amazing, always a wide and different selection of wines, ales, lagers, craft beers and ciders. Polite and friendly service. Food is very reasonably priced and the menu is fantastic!

Came for beer but decided to eat too. Beer doesnt change as much as before as always doom bar and a tonbridge ale on plus other mainstream beers such as wainwrights. Always decent craft but also doesnt change much compared to fuggles. However tapas was lovely especially on a friday night where it became very busy as expected.

Friendly staff, very welcoming! Food got to us within 10 minutes, a check back was done which was very nice! Food was so delicious, I would definitely command this and we will definitely be going again! After a VERY disappointing short visit to the humphrey bean, we are so glad we chose to eat here!!

A lovely welcome as soon as we arrived. The bar staff here have to be the best in town.We arrived after a terrible breakfast attempt at another local hostelry, only to be met by the chef and duty manager.They set about asking what we wanted to eat and set us up a tab so we could go sit down with our drinks whilst mulling over the menu. And when our choice of Full English arrived exactly as ordered we were not disappointed.So a massive Thank You!We do spend a lot of time here we confess but..,It's the best we have found in our home town..That's why we keep coming back.

The Gatehouse has it all....... great menu, massive drink selection including craft lager, cider and ales. And also friendly and helpful staff that welcome you to stay and have a good evening. Nights such as quiz night and rock and roll bingo are brilliant nights out.

Came for a late lunch as been here before for drinks. Very nice foccia southern fried chicken and sweet potatoe fries. Ale selection still decent inc black sheep bitter. Noble lager was nice change too.

Came here for rock n roll bingo on Sunday, what great fun! Amazing range of cocktails, great selection of craft beers and the food is good and not bad prices either! Will deffo come next Sunday for rock n roll bingo! May even try out the quiz on Wednesday too!

I always enjoy my time in the gatehouse as it has good music and atmosphere on a saturday night. You can usually find somewhere to sit aswell. The cocktail list is great and is something for everyone. Even the virgin daiquiri is lovely for when you are driving. It has definitely improved since changing from The Slug and Lettuce and is what Tonbridge needed!

Really enjoyed the Tonbridge Beer tasting. Informative, interesting, great beers and good company. We eat here fairly regularly too and the food is good. I love the tapas.

Friendly staff, clean! We only went in for a drink but did pursue the menu. This looked lovely, variety and reasonable prices!

Our first time here was early on a Thursday evening - it's a great place for drinks and/or dinner. We can imagine it's more lively on a Friday or Saturday night, but it was perfect for us. The burger tasted great and we could choose from at least eight guest ales or from the standard beer pumps and optics. Four alcoholic drinks, burger, desert: £45.

Amazing quiz night once again, go every week! CJ is brilliant at what he does! Would recommend everyone to come down every Wednesday!!

Came for late lunch. They always have 4 ales on tap, 1 at least seems to constantly rotate. Up to 10 craft beers/ciders. Lovely brains bitter and camden pale ale. Had the tapas plates and swet potatoe fries. All were very good especially the croquettes. Have had dinners before which were decent.

We had our staff do here last night and working in the same industry we know how annoying it can be with a big group that are drunk and rowdy. But Natalie and Ocean were absolutely fabulous, made us umpteen cocktails and they were all delicious! Thank u so much girls you were great and very patient with us

Fantastic selection of drinks with friendly knowledgeable staff who seem genuinely interested in working there. Great food, the pizzas and tapas are great.

The first interaction I had with this place was poor. I booked a week in advance using their online service. Pretty basic function for a restaurants website right? Apparently not, I rang them the day before because I'd heard nothing back and they said they had never received my booking as their online service wasn't reliable. This, even though I had received an automated email the day I booked with a reference code and everything! We gave the place a second chance the other night and it was actually not so bad, good prices with a cool menu for Tonbridge and a decent selection of beer, even though they didn't have the one I ordered. The food was enjoyable and I'd recommend it for larger groups, the menu seemed tailored to that sort of thing.Overall, not bad, but they really need to fix their website.

Been a couple of time since the refurb, had a roast, which was nice, except I think they had run out of spuds for me as mine were a bit Aunt Bessie but hubbies were fine, Tapas are really lovely and tasty, had a steak which is always good and tried the pizza which I found a bit bland but that's my fault because I like it plain with mushroom but usually the tomato base makes up for it. Staff are friendly and it's nice having a range of ales, plenty for the husband to try and saves him moaning that the only ale they have is bottled and comes from the fridge!

since the change over from the slug and lettuce we liked the new design and popped in for a bite - like what they have done to the place - the menu has changed and the food was very nice and served quickly. Plenty to choose from the menu whether you want a quick bite, a sharing platter or full on meal - I went for the burger - why not! - very tasty and done just right - good value for money so will be back.

Well the revamp went well, loving the new atmosphere and the added bonus of an additional 8 Craft Beers on tap!The food has also improved with many new deals to try.As before the management and staff are friendly and cheerful.A massive thank you to you all for making my wife and myself so welcome when we visit!

We wanted to come in for a coffee this evening. The lady behind the bar was very nice and polite, the decor is brilliant and the menu sounds great! Unfortunately a group of guys came in and started shouting, swearing and it just spoiled it! Would love to revisit if the pub is reviewing their clientele.

Oh dear why did I bother!!On a works night out for Xmas and thought we'd give this place a try as heard it had been revamped from the awful slug and lettuce. Nothing has changed though, other then the decor which did look good.This is its only positive as it still attracts the same scummy clientele and to match the bar staff were awful and rude. You would think after a costly refit you would be trying to maximise the customer experience, but from what we witnessed the staff seemed clueless in what they were doing and to match obviously had had no training in customer service. Summing up, steer well clear!!

This bar really did need an update and the new name and refit were done quickly and well. Definitely a huge improvement. The staff are polite and efficient. A typical pub menu. There were some interesting beer choices. Overall a clean fresh place to have a drink. The fruit machines rather ruin the new look but that is a personal view.

Went here for birthday drinks on a Saturday, bar was busy but still got great service from blonde cocktail waitress would defiantly go here again! Defiantly try the pornstar martinis! :)

Went to this bar/restaurant for lunch, celebrating a friend's birthday. Very nice atmosphere and quite busy, we discovered meals are half price on a Monday! even better. Waitress was pleasant and helpful, drinks order taken and drinks served quickly, we were given time to choose our food, we selected a chicken and avocado wrap with sweet potato fries and a ciabatta with tomato mozzarella and avocado, also with sweet potato fries.Took us a while to make our minds up as the menu offered plenty of choice. Both plates were attractively presented and food was delicious. We have decided to return very soon.

Have ate here before and its been great. Not been for a little while tho. Service was terrible, nobody around to take orders. Table next to us was not cleared for ages. When we did order the food was thrown in front of us and they dissapeared before we had a chance to say anything. Had to go knock on the kitchen door to get anyones attention. The food was dry and tasteless, not the usual standard. We only ate some, complete waste of food and money. We actually noticed the place was not its usual busy self. Shame

Awful! Usual meeting place for Sunday lunch with friends but this time had to wait ages to be acknowledged by the one of two bar/waitressing staff,no available table in dining area even though we'd booked,no toilet seats in ladies toilets,poor service,won't be going back!

Visited the slug last night for drinks.Friends visiting from Australia so a group of us.Took 15 minutes to get served!And the the barman was rude and said I didn't need to order my drinks one at a time! I was only ordering 3 drinks. I was still deciding what cocktail to have.My cocktail was very good (country garden)My friends however had too much ice and not enough drink! (Pina colada ) On the second attempt to get another drink it was another 15 minutes before giving up and a large group of us all leaving due to the very long waiting time!Shame as Tonbridge doesn't have much to offer and the slug a good place for drinks.So to sum up my Saturday night at the slug.Pants!!!Lack of bar staff, how can you expect to cope with two people serving and making the cocktails,which take time.

Amazingly friendly staff... Great food... Great clientele has rib eye... Cooked to perfection. Recommended by my brother and couldn't have been more right.

Met up with my Wife and Mother for yet another lovely lunch at The Slug.The Salmon Supreme was lovely, well cooked and very tastey, my Wife and myself both enjoyed, Mum had the fish and chips which she also loved.Great to see Nats back behind the bar doing what she does best..Well done (New Manager) Simon for bringing "Our Girl" back to the fold.

Popped in here for a bite to eat and couple of drinks to find they have a great deal on cocktails 2-1 all night ! £8.15 for two drinks is not too shabby, if you want a beer you might have to wait a bit as the staff are busy mixing and shaking, but hey ho.

I really enjoyed this place which was very lively for a Thursday night. The cocktails were great and it was just by my hotel. The food was also good and well worth having a few to let down your hair. Not for people who like silence!

If you think you can't afford to go out on a week day then you haven't heard of the Slugs 50% off on a Monday plus 2 for one cocktails not to mention 2 deserts for the price of one. The food is always pretty good and the atmosphere is friendly. Just check when ordering main courses though as not all of them are included in the deal.

We visited for breakfast and we're pleasantly surprised. The guys serving were very pleasant food was lovely. Definately an overlooked place as I'd never have visited for breakfast before. A hidden treasure

This is a great place for lunch, with a full bar. The bar runs a partial table services for customers that are eating. The food is similar to all Slug and Lettuce establishments. Importantly this is better than other cheaper pub lunches but not as expensive as a restaurant.

Had such a cheap dinner and 2 for 1 cocktails! Great vibe, great pub. Waitress was friendly and helpful, and attended to us really well, we tipped her. Meals were great value and really tasty.
