The Six Bells Village Pub & Restaurant in The Vale of Glamorgan

Absolutely beautiful meal and dessert. Went for a friend's birthday's. Highly recommend, wonderful venue, brilliant service. Landlady Pat is amazing so friendly can't do enough for you. Definitely worth a visit

We were invited to take a seat in the bar with our trainee guide dog. We decided against the menu choice in favour of the specials board. Service was nicely paced and the food was delicious. Picture is of my garlic mushrooms on ciabatta. This was followed by liver and onions on mash: 10/10

My friend and I visited the Six Bells for a Tuesday lunch. We both chose the same lunch - cheese and tomato ciabatta. The ciabattas were delicious with generous fillings of tasty cheddar and sliced tomato. They were beautifully presented, served with crispy chips and a lovely coleslaw. We couldn't fault a thing, tasty food, excellent service and extremely reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Called in today lunchtime and ordered a cheese and onion baguette. Specifically asked for sliced cheese and not grated, grated cheese arrived and was returned for sliced cheese. The server was apologetic. The baguette filling was pathetic with minimal packed sliced cheese and a spattering on onion. When paying I informed the server that it was probably the worse baguette I have had in Wales. When walking to our car I could hear the server telling the”chef” of my comments only to hear the”chef” calling me a “knob”! I responded but only silence came from the kitchen! Perhaps the “chef” should look on a mirror to see the biggest “knob” in Penmark!

Couldn’t fault the food & drink here. We had 2 pub favourites - steak & ale pie with mash & peas & lasagne, salad & chips. Good value for money. Not overpriced. Welcoming staff.

This is a hidden gem in the Vale of Glamorgan. We have used this pub for many years, since Pat Reynolds took it over it has improved dramatically. When we arrived we had a warm welcome, with our order s being taken quickly. Food arrived without undue delay - very generous portions, nicely presented, and so delicious. The menu is varied but still good pub food and in no way pretentious. What more could you want? I cannot recommend The Six Bells highly enough. Because we enjoy it here, and trust them absolutely, we have booked here for a special event in a few months time and we have no doubt the we and our guests will be impressed

Stayed nearby before going to Senior Open Golf at Porthcawl next day, read the reviews and decided that the Six Bells deserved a visit. Not disappointed at all - chips are everything that other reviews rave about (crispy and fluffy), great gammon with all the extras including amazing onion rings, and a gorgeous beef stroganoff. Too full for dessert as we'd had ice creams earlier in the afternoon! Would definitely visit again if in the area

We popped to the Six Bells late in the afternoon looking for an early tea and to enjoy the nice weather. We sat in the bar which is lovely and comfortable and were welcomed by the fantastic landlady and lovely bar staff The beer is terrific and the Hancocks is highly recommended!! We perused the extensive menu and chose the gammon and the lasagne. Both dishes were superb!! They were delicious and perfectly presented! Unfortunately we had no room for puddings on this visit but will try harder next time!! If you’ve not been you really must visit

Amazing food. Had the Lasagne and chips and it was amazing. The pie of the dies was beautiful, big, tasty and fresh. The chips are done so nice and really tasty. Slight longer wait than usual but not too long. However, worth the little extra wait as all the food is fresh. We will definitely be back soon. Amazing food. Great customer service as well.

Rude staff , incompetent manager disgusting food, bar staff found a dead bug in the ice cream in which the manager told this young girl to scoop it out an then continued to give it to the customer without knowing what I just seen . Absolutely disturbing behavior from management level . Used to love this place but this people have turned this place into the worst experience you wouldn't want to wish for . Been here quite a few times, very friendly pub, can't do enough for you. 12 of us went our friend's birthday's. We pre ordered our food, pat and staff were very helpful accommodated us with some changes we made to the meals, nothing was a problem. Food was excellent, piping hot, very tasty. Delicious locally sourced, home cooked, pub food! Had something from the ‘specials’ board both evenings and we were not disappointed! Dog friendly in the bar area but also a restaurant (not dog friendly!) Warm welcome both evenings. Worth a visit!

Been here twice recently and have to say the food is superb. My wife is gluten and lactos intolerant and the Six Bells were very helpful to ensure she was catered for. The service was marvellous and with a choice of well kept real ales I will be making this our go to for future events. A recent 32 person St Davids day dinner was catered for with ease and everyone enjoyed themselves. Strongly recommended!

What a fantastic job James and the team have done adapting to the new regulations and the new normal! As usual, the staff were friendly, helpful and excellent, food was exceptional, we had the Sunday dinner this week but also had a steak last weekend, delicious! The outdoor space they have created is really pretty, they have done a great job of interpreting the regs the govt have set, they have managed to maintain the great atmosphere whilst upholding all the social distancing rules - well done Six Bells!!

We usually come here for Sunday lunch when visiting our son in Barry from our West Midlands home. I have written before about how good the Six Bells is and this time it was, in most respects much the same. The same, wonderful, attentive waiting staff and good choice of roasts on offer. I have dropped to four (should be four and a half) because the vegetable weren't quite as good as usual. However, if I hadn't been here before and had better, I'm sure I would have given the full five stars again.

Had Sunday lunch here today, have to say it was awful....!Clean place but the food was not very good at all...!!! In fact the only thing i liked was the swede... beef full of fat and gristle....!! Sorry 6 bells but if it was my restaurant i would want to know...!!!

Decided to visit the Bells to watch the rugby. Feeling peckish I ordered the Surf and Turf off their specials menu. Have to say I was not disappointed, great steak, lovely king prawns and chips to die for. Well done James and his team.

First time visit and very impressed. Went for Sunday lunch for the first time and we will definitely return. We had the hot wings and crab/ salmon starter. Both very high quality and freshly prepared. For main we had the turkey and beef. Again both beautifully cooked. Plentiful portions and lovely fresh veg variety. The gravy was awake some and thick. Huge portions but we still managed dessert of fudge cake and lemon torte. A wonderful meal at a very reasonable price for the 3 courses. The service was also excellent with the staff clearly well trained. Great setting and location in a small village. Highly recommend this great village pub.

After seeing the Specials menu on Facebook We could wait to book in and taste and were weren’t disappointed. The food was really good, super tasty and very well presented. The restaurant looks fantastic after it’s make over and the staff as usual were very attentive as well as making us feel safe with clear guidelines for us to follow. Can’t wait to see what the next weekend specials bring. Wholly recommend a visit.
