Proper dog friendly country style tea room, situated in a lovely, quirky market town. Drinks & cake after a lovely walk in local Hembury Woods. Served by friendly attentive staff. All ingredients were homemade, fresh & tasty. Certainly worth a visit .........

Walking the dogs with my daughter and her dog and we didn't want to fill the inside with 3 dogs ,the staff quickly wiped down a table in the lovely garden,(round the back) and got chair cushions out . Two lovely breakfasts and drinks quickly followed with treats for the woofs . You can't go wrong . Oh , the veggie breakfast was really nice .

Interia was clean and tidy, we were welcomed in politely. The Tea was presented in a nice matching china set. Ham Egg and Chips, were OK, however the chips were a bit overcooked. The Ploughman's was lacking pickles (such as picked onion, gerkin), and the two packet ham slices were a bit underwhelming for a Ploughman's.

This is a wonderful, friendly little restaurant/cafe. Although my wife and I were only there for coffee, the breakfasts that were being served while we were there looked fantastic, as well as good value. The lunch selection also looked very good and we will definitely go back when we are in the area again. The coffee, by the way, was one of the best that I have had in a very long time.

What an absolutely wonderful experience at the Singing Kettle. We came here a few years ago for coffee and teas and loved the experience. The back garden is a lovely place to sit. Glad we came back for food this time as we weren’t disappointed. The burger was one of the most tasty and juicy I’ve ever had. My partner loved her tuna mayo jacket potato and the scones were delicious. The service is top notch, very friendly and efficient. Will definitely return next time we’re in Devon.

This was a sweet little place with only a few tables but as it was quiet we were lucky to get one. We only wanted a snack so ordered a cheese scone which was delicious, when it eventually arrived. Staff were really lovely but service was a little slow. In future, I will always ask for my drink to be brought with my food. Lesson learned. Big plus, the dog was allowed in.

We stopped by the Singing Kettle last weekend July 7&8thto find a lovely outside garden at the rear of the cafe, where we were greeted by host Jackie,a smile and warm welcome. We ordered coffee and the homemade cake which Jackie bakes on the premises along with homemade icecream and other cooked dishes. It was yummy,we went back the next day for more, taking my family with me who too loved it. Thank you Jackie for your hospitality, when we are next in Buckfastleigh we will be back for more cake.🍰😊 Best wishes Paul & Gary.

`the cream tea was absolutely divine.. freshly baked with quite a wide choice of food. It was a bit noisy on our visit but who can help having a crying baby? Only 2 people were on staff and so service was slow but I'm sure its not like that always.. Our new 'go to' when we want a proper cream tea. Cream was locally sourced... absolutely delicious! Food was chronic, even the coffee and lemonade was not nice. Filled croissants are supposed to be cooked not these they was filled with cheese and dry. Chips overcooked frozen disgusting things that tasted like they was cooked in old oil and cooked that much there was no filling left in the potatoes. Messed up money and no one was about when we wanted bill. Another couple were in at the same time and they was also complaining about how bad the food was.

We placed the car on charge and wanted a quick bite and a cup of tea. The quick was not met as we waited an age for the meal which was still frozen in the centre and only two of us you would think it hard to get it wrong but they did bring out the wrong food. Having waited so long we just kept what they delivered. Even the bill was wrong they could try to stop chatting in the kitchen and take more time to work.

We pre booked a table for breakfast and sadly despite having done so, our order was taken some time after we arrived, it came out over an hour after we ordered and when it did arrive, it was missing items. Never felt more ripped off. Other customers ordered milkshakes and we thought that’d make a change on a hot day. Whilst they weren’t on the menu, I assumed they’d be £2.50-£3.00.They weren’t the best. Half a pint of cool, not cold, milk, mixed with too much cheap syrup. They were very artificial tasting, Although they did add a split strawberry to the rim of the glass “for that continental touch”. We went to pay and were shocked to be told it was £11 for the 2. Pointing out a sign near the entrance with the price on. What an absolute disgrace. Half a pint of tepid milk, drop of flavoured syrup and a strawberry for £5.50. Who decided on this price? Outrageous, you should be ashamed 😩😩😩

Disappointing! They were busy, admittedly, but the service was offhand to the point of approaching Fawlty Towers - the waitress wouldn’t give me a receipt so just walked off mid conversation, among other things. The young serving staff didn’t seem to have any training in customer service and acted borderline rude to me and other customers. My ham egg and chips came as two thin slices of ham which seemed to have come straight out of a packet - no locally-produced fresh produce here. I probably caught them on an off day but I won’t be going back.
