The Silk Route in Preston

Walked in felt uncomfortable as all the staff stare at you. We went for the all you can eat buffet- The food was bland and no had no flavour. All the curry dishes were very watery with no flavour very disappointed with selection of food as-well not a great deal to choose from. Felt as though the staff were constantly hovering around watching and all they wanted was for us to order another drink. As we spent £125 we were all very disappointed with the food. Mother’s Day was ruined and we were all so hungry afterwards that we had to order a Chinese not long after we left. We will not be going back again ,much better food in local curry houses. We did not complain when there as felt quite intimidated with the staff.

Went for the Sunday buffet. Room is elegant, lovely sofas, seated quickly, as only 4 other tables in. Lots of empty serving dishes, weird combination of Indian and Chinese dishes - red curry (thai), sesame chicken (chinese) samosas (indian) spring rolls (chinese). Multiple varients on "chips". Veg pakora like chewy rubber after sitting so long on the plate. HORRIFIED to find prawn crackers in place of poppadoms! This is a basic. We were told we could order food that had run out on the buffet, but then the bloke vanished and the only other person on the restaurant floor didn't understand English well. When the freshly prepared chicken tikka arrived it was excellent, so perhaps it's only the buffet that's appalling. Overall, mad expensive for not-very-good experience. Do fewer dishes and do them better.

Ordered a take out. I never order takeaway because it’s always disappointing but this place was recommended by a friend so we were looking forward to it. Ordering online was easy enough, however it arrived 30 mins late and cold. It was almost inedible. Had we not been so hungry it would’ve gone in the bin. This will not be a repeat for us. We ordered chicken tikka masala and veggie rogan Josh, with chips and plain naan, and a tub of icecream. Came to about £23. The rogan Josh was not as spicy as I was expecting it to be, and the masala was a bit too sweet. Everything was cold when it arrived. I suppose if the food was hot or at the very least warm when it arrived it would’ve been better, but it didn’t. It was awful and I feel like I’ve been ripped off. I never review anything on here, but this was beyond disgusting so it needs to be said.

The reservation was for 6 of us. The food was fantastic and the staff wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. We had starters and mains and the food was plentiful. The prices were extremely reasonable Definitely recommend.

Very average Indian food. A little bland and tasteless. I’d say more westernised, rather than authentic. The chicken dish was described as marinated and charcoal grilled, but seemed boiled. The bhajis and samosas were tiny. The Spinach & feta naan, was just a roti with feta sprinkled on top. Very few vegetarian options. There are far better Indian restaurants nearby.

Very nice and friendly staff,food was lovely. I've been here 3 times now and I'll be going again,the only thing I can say is there weren't any hand wash in the toilet dispenser so I thought ide use the hand gels but unfortunately nothing in them either,but it didn't spoil the food lol.good place to eat 😊

Went for the Sunday Buffet and was looking forward to it. Everything was luke warm apart from the chicken tikka starter which was cold. The manager came over and felt how cold it was without any comment. He then told the kitchen staff to make some fresh. The fresh lot was nice and warm, but I have been criticised for using too many plates!!!! I don't see the point of offering a buffet with lots of different dishes if you are expected to use the same plate with cold remains on. The plates were not warm in the first place which is nice if you enjoy salad as my partner does. I complained on Facebook only to be told in a childish way how many plates I had used. I don't think it was from the well dressed manager, but his obnoxious waitress who said that nobody else had complained that day which I find very hard to believe!! Perhaps none of the other diners use Facebook or could be bothered to put a review on here. Perhaps they just won't go back. I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt and put it down to a one off until I spoke to some friends who advised me that the same thing happened to them and they were a party of 8. Fortunately they escaped without having to pay for anything once they had sampled the not so luke warm buffet. We visited this place a few years ago and it was spot on, we will not be returning under is present ownership / management. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! As someone else pointed out, Lime & Soda is £3.50 a chuck, lol.

Fantastic atmosphere and the decor was amazing. The food was amazing and the staff were very helpful and courteous. Will be going back soon.

We have been going here since its inception. The food is always amazing and the portions are plentiful. The tamarind dip is to die for. Crafted by the one and only L. It should be bottle and sold!

Terrible customer service. Ordered food to be delivered at 19.15, this arrives at 19.45. One of the meals was wrong and could not be eaten due to allergies. Called the restaurant who advised they would replace this immediately and send it straight out. Over 45 minutes later and various phone calls they told me the meal was on its way. After a further 20 mins I called again and had the phone put down on me by a very rude female member of staff and the staff then refused to answer the phone to me! Replacement meal finally arrived at 21.05 after all other members of the family had eaten together! Absolutely shocking service! Will not be using again.

Visited The Silk Route for the first time and was NOT disappointed. The restaurant was light and comfortable, spotlessly clean, and the staff were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble for them. As for the food, well it was DELICIOUS. Fabulous flavours and generous portions. I really could not recommend this restaurant highly enough. Thank you everyone for a lovely evening.

I booked online for the Elvis tribute night at the Silk Route last night 7th September however when my friend and I arrived, they didn’t have any record of our booking and I hadn’t any confirmation to show that I had booked it therefore it looked like we were going home very disappointed. The manager informed us that all the tables were booked as it was a very busy night, I think he could see how upset we were as it was no one’s fault the online booking hadn’t been confirmed. The manager was busy seating other people and then came back to us to say he was getting a table out to set up for my friend and I. We were seated and had a brilliant night, Elvis was fantastic and the manager made sure we were looked after throughout the night. We want to say a big thank you to the manager for all his help and the staff who worked really hard, we had an excellent evening and can highly recommend the Silk Route 😊

My family and I thought we’d try Silk Route for a family meal. Restaurant is clean and well decorated, LED lighting changes colour quite frequently which was changed the ambience. Food was well cooked, presented well and my wife and children enjoyed there meal. I ordered lamb ribs as a main which had very little meat on it, mostly fat with the seasoning to compliment. It was tasty but not a fan of eating just fat. I raised the issue to the staff who said that’s just how they are and I was offered a replacement dish which I don’t accept. It’s not what I was expecting and I’ve never had ribs minus meat before, but recognised it may have been luck of the draw with the ribs I received. Other than that very nice, very clean, nice atmosphere. NB - Ribs price wasn’t deducted from the bill which I though could’ve been a compromise.

Stunning meal again tonight at The Silk Route in Preston . Fantastic food and service and a lovely warm welcome from Ali, Zara and the lovely team. Atmosphere was wonderful as was my company . So lovely to catch up with such lovely friends.

Another fabulous meal at the Silk Route. Gluten free - no problem, veggie - no problem - lots and lots of options for both which is so refreshing. I have been here many times and never had a bad meal, always tasty, always timely, always lots to eat. The restaurant supported us a group of ambulance service Community First Responders, holding a second charity night for us. This place is so genuine it’s always a pleasure to eat here.

An excellent night out. The food was superb, I had lamb jalfrezi which was cooked to perfection. The staff could not have been more helpful and personable. There was also a great crowd in who were really up for it. Highly recommended.

Rude staff and attitudes all around. There are far more better Indian establishments in Preston. If you’d like to be treated like a piece of garbage then you should go here. If you want good customer service and nice food? AVOID.
