The Shore at Carronshore in Falkirk

The Shore has been closed since the 3rd October 2023. It's now open with new owners under a new name Blackmill Bar & Kitchen.

Atmosphere lovely. Didn't have a few things on the menu.but still had a good chose. Steak were good, cooked as I ordered it.

Well turned up after visiting the Kelpies at the shore public house hoping for food, saw the deals and thought yep we call there. Asked (as we were in our camper van) if we ate and drunk in the pub could we stop over (wild camp) on their car park. The response was a big yes! The car park was massive, the pub great atmosphere and food excellent and a deal too. Two mains for price of one😁 well done the Shore you win my vote.

My friend and I visited on a Friday afternoon forMalaysian Afternoon Tea…. We knew it would be different to the ones we are used to. Dishes were all fresh made and delicious Kirsty explained what each dish was. I enjoyed it but think it’s early days for them and they are just finding their feet with new staff etc. I would definitely return to try the main menu dishes .

It was the opening day,they were not organised at all,we had booked well in advance and our table was not even set. Booked for 2:15 did not get served till 3:10,when it did arrive they brought the cakes first which were aweful (only way to describe it)a good 20/30mins later our chicken skewers arrived they were as dry as sticks and the dips was not enough for 1 person not alone 6of us,by this time we had had enough and walked out. DISGUSTING. Plus it had been paid up front.

I didn’t know what to expect from Malaysian cuisine but thoroughly enjoyed our food. The spices in my meal were so well balanced, tried some new things too and it didn’t disappoint. Hospitality was friendly and warm, its early days for this venture and not having a license to sell alcohol yet is definitely a disadvantage however byob was fine and no corkage charged I would recommend!

Well not yet been to the shore, but we have had food from these amazing people elsewhere. The fish and chips are just the best, the fish is always perfection. My husband usually gets devil's curry. As a chef he is difficult to please but loves this and says even he cannot get his rice like the accompanied that comes with the dish. We will look forward to visiting, your dog friendly inside/outside adventure. Thank you for all you have done for us. Xx

Unfortunate experience. Whilst placing my order the waitress asked if my chicken goujons would be a small or large, I ordered large along with a kids of the same . It transpired both the kids and the adult ( large) are both the same in qty but appropriately £10 different in price. I asked staff and management to explain but very unwilling to help, insisting that there is no small or large ( why was I offered this? ) no customer respect. The meal was actually quite good but my advice just buy childrens meals as they seem to be the same. If I only had some sort of apology or decent customer service I wouldn’t be forced to write a negative review.

We’ve visited the shore many times as a couple, as well as with family and friends, & never once have we been disappointed. The food is lovely, homemade grub & there is an excellent variety on the menu. There’s plenty drink options too & a lovely large beer garden to enjoy in the warmer weather. Service is always decent, the staff are welcoming & friendly enough, and the fact it’s just a short walk away from home is excellent. Run by a local family too which is rare these days, and to top it off, it’s dog friendly too!! Even when we move out of the area, we’ll make a point of returning regularly.

Decided to try this place out with our local area based on a local food reviewers top review. For us it fell short. It was a busy Sunday but a few of the staff we encountered would make me not return. One of the young girls serving us didn’t know which starters were included with the Sunday lunch deal as the menu just stated Sunday lunch and then gave prices for 2 or 3 courses. Later I asked for an espresso with dessert and she didn’t think they did those but I could have a cappuccino. We were a table of 9 and 8 of us had finished starters almost and we had to ask for the last starter. Same with the desserts, table had finished desserts and 2 of us hadn’t received ours! The thing that really put me off however was when the young girl working with the clear glasses on who barely said 2 words to us the whole time actually rolled her eyes at my sister when she came out with 2 steak pies and my sister didn’t hear her saying it was with potato so said it was hers then before it was put down said oh that’s not mine it was for the person across and the waitress rolled her eyes! Not nice customer service! Would not recommend spending your hard earned money here unfortunately.

I had a Sunday lunch with family, the food was OK nothing special in my opinion, I want to say more about the food but I rather not. P.s. I just hope it was one off due all the reviews read before booking the place

Had a brilliant time here for a family catch up. Meals were superb, everyone complimented their chosen meal. Staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Good meal at the Shore. Very Clean and well decorated. Good choice on the menu, something for everyone. Food was of good quality and arrived promptly. Drinks were reasonably priced. Staff were very welcoming and service was efficient. Will be back.

Visited the shore with a family member. We both ordered macaroni which was delicious. However the service was rotten. The woman serving us approached and said ‘finished?’. She didn’t even ask how our meal was or offer us any other drinks. Don’t think I saw her smile once. We then asked for the dessert menu and after looking at it for 20 seconds we got asked if we wanted anything. I said no thanks but before my granny had even answered the waitress had taken ahold of the menu. We also asked for coffee and it seemed like an awful inconvenience to her. Such ashame as the food is really good and reasonably priced but the service always lets the place down.

Unlike a lot of restaurants The Shore excels at customer service, staff were very attentive, the food was amazing & the menu choice was very good, all our party were very impressed we will be definitely visiting here on a regular basis

Visit the Shore regularly and today had the pleasure of having Christmas Lunch. The food was excellent and staff made us very welcome. It’s a hidden gem that’s well worth a visit.

Dropped in on the way home from FVRH and although the place was empty there were several people all booked in later. We tried both the evening menu for me and the pensioners menu for my wife. 2 courses each with soft drinks for £20....

After an appointment at the hospital we couldn't be bothered cooking so we decided to eat out. We had never been to the Shore but had heard good things so we quickly checked the menu online and decided to try for ourselves. We weren't disappointed. Lovely food, lovely staff and very well priced for what you received. A cozy, dainty interior that was welcoming. The only thing I would say and it's not even so much of a negative was that the kids meals were huge! They still had room for ice cream though!

1st visit after driving past for years. The lunch time 2 or 3 course menu is excellent value for money. The seniors menu is also excellent value. The portion sizes are fantastic value for money and overall the food quality was really nice. Well worth a visit if you are passing buy or if you are in the area.

For brothers 77th birthday lunch it was my first visit to the Shore with family and friends. Extremely impressed by the price, quality of food, service, ambience and portion sizes. We all chose from the Young at Heart (elderly) menu and were treated to an excellent meal. Where else can you get a three course meal and tea or freshly ground coffee for less than £10 a person? Definitely one to recommend and I’ll be back!!!

Fabulous service from phoning to book our table and throughout the evening. We opted for the sirloin steak dinner with wine deal, the steaks were cooked exactly as we requested and the accompanying mushrooms and grilled tomato were bursting with flavour.we added the smoked haddock fish cake which was packed with flovour, could have eaten more!!

See my review in 2018 I couldn’t rate this place highly enough back then. Fast forward to last night and it was awful. They have changed the way they do nachos for starters and the shore was know for its awesome nachos (not anymore). The guacamole tasted off so I warned the waitress about it and she spoke to the chef who said it wasn’t off but he was out of avocado so had mixed the bit he had left with with mayo??? For my main I had chicken curry and if I wanted over cooked chicken I could have eaten at home. My son couldn’t eat his burger (from the adult menu) as it was full of grissel and the burgers there used to be the best around. I’m so disappointed, this place has gone severely down hill. The waitress was really helpful and took 2 items off the bill but we won’t be back.

We went as family 4 adults today and We were far from impressed.

We visited The Shore after a day out. What a disappointment. The waitress was nothing but rude and abrupt. We waited ages for someone to come and take our order, and when after another very lengthy wait we finally got our food it was nothing but mediocre and poor quality. We were going to have a dessert and despite asking the waitress to take our order we were ignored and after 20 mins of waiting gave up and left. For the price we were charged and the poor quality of service and food will definitely not be returning or recommend.

What a great place to have lunch two courses £10.85!!!!!! And what great food it is too - difficult to find homemade chips on your plate - i had scampi, salad & chips hubby had fish, salad & chips- never bothered with a starter and decided to have a sweet instead and what an amount you get - staff are run off their feet and are very pleasant and courteous even with the amount of people that were there for lunch - 10 out of 10 - will return very soon

We heard they had a new chef so thought it was time for a visit but the food was pretty average. The service,surroundings and price are ok but we won’t rush back

Visited The Shore tonight after looking at trip advisor for somewhere nice to eat near our sons football training. Food was superb and such good value for money. The homemade sticky toffee pudding is amazing. Service was excellent too. Will definitely be back

We live really nearby but rarely visit however we went in on a really busy day without a booking and were seated any ways which was amazing, the food was delicious and the service was efficient also it was really well priced for what u get so overall really good we will defo be back!

Hubby and I had a takeaway meal of freshly cooked fish and chips tonight my fish was in batter and hubby's was in breadcrumbs.....I have to say the BEST fish and chips EVER! What a find in our wee village! I might also add hubby tells me the staff are exceptionally nice... it won't be our last takeaway!

Visited on Saturday evening .we ordered drinks after being shown our table .What happened next was unacceptable behaviour from who I assume was in charge.This person arrived at our table and her manner suggested she would rather be elsewhere on a Saturday evening. We were shown menus but I had to ask what the pasta of the day was as there was no information forthcoming from this waitress. The food was disappointingly average with an overcooked steak on my "shore grill".I gave this place a 2nd chance after a previous visit and encounter with the same waitress .But I certainly won't be back unless I discover she has found a proffession that she is suited to as a waitress seems to be beyond her.

We had a disappointing meal unfortunately as we have loved the food in the past. First visit under the new owner since the changes have been made to the food and based on what we had we won't be returning anytime soon.

This was our first visit under the new ownership. Some positive changes to the layout of furniture, created a more comfortable environment to appreciate the gourmet delights presented. We had decided earlier to choose a mains and a sweet, missing out on a starter. Our main dish was a fillet steak and chicken fajitas.

Lovely afternoon on Saturday in The Shore for a family gathering and meal as daughter going to the USA for a couple of months. Table for 12 pre-booked and no issues with this(unlike other places locally-The Boardwalk-who refuse to take your booking when asking about similar things like this previously unless you have paid a deposit of £10pp!!), so big tick in the box straight away for the Shore. Staff very welcoming and service was quick and excellent for the time we were in. Food was superb, portions for the main courses were big and desserts were superb! Really nice touch from the guys as they brought out corn dogs for everyone while we were waiting to order due to the USA link, so that was a nice surprise and much appreciated. Overall, brilliant afternoon, fantastic food and service, good value for money and would definitely recommend The Shore to all! Thanks again

Had been to The Shore once before, in the evening, but decided to try lunch. Oh my, what a delight. Great menu, good choice, absolutely delicious. Had all three courses! All fantastic. Highly recommend, particularly the Steak Pie and the Breaded Haddock. We’ve been back twice since and taken friends. We will be back again without a doubt.

Great food and wonderful service, what more could you want. Lots of choice an the menu so everybody should be happy. Probably best to book a table as it looks like it gets busy.

Visited here with my mum for a midweek meal and we were both very impressed. The menu has a good choice and is absolutely great value. They are accommodating about changing things. For example I got salad instead of chips with my lasagne.

Visited the Shore at Carronshore to experience the changes made by the new owner and was blown away. Great atmosphere,fun staff and a full house each of our three visits. The meals were beautifully prepared and my wife loved her first “Haggis” experience.Looking forward to the planned outside beer garden and BBQ. With the new owner’s enthusiasm and years of quality catering experience this is a winning destination.

Food is decent enough but slightly burnt. One of the waitresses comes across as rude and quite ignorant.

Terrific restaurant- my husband and I ate here three times while visiting the Falkirk area. Food was beautifully presented and delicious! Staff excellent; friendly and efficient. Ate haggis for the first time ever! Loved it.....served with wonderful sauce. Prices are SO reasonable. Do go - you won’t be disappointed.

Great food, big portions 2 course for £10.95 at lunch.Price of soft drinks was a real bonus.Only downside was the place was freezing.Maybe heating was broken but no signs up so would come back again to see.

Spent Hogmanay here and what an excellent night we all had the meal was superb, the staff were friendly and helpful... the extra touches like the piper after the bells,serving of hot pies, free raffle etc were a touch of class... will definitely be booking for next year... Visited today Sunday 16th December for afternoon lunch food was brilliant plenty of choices on menu. Christmas Turkey dinner was great as was fish & chips & roast beef dinner plenty of it. Love it here favourite place to eat. See you soon.

Fantastic meal, excellent service, overall brilliant night. Huge thanks to the staff for their care and attention and to the chef for an amazing meal on a busy night. We hadn’t been in since the change of owners but will hurry back. A special acknowledgement for being allergen friendly, particularly special as Johnson’s in Falkirk would not feed me- humiliating at the best !

Have used the shore for lunch and dinner and found it very pleasant on both occasions. Typical pup food but well prepared and presented at reasonable prices.

My first visit with a friend, the restaurant was pretty chilly despite a fan heater and log fire. Maybe heating needs to be switched on earlier on cold days!

Popped into the shore for lunch while passing through the area. Fantastic place, friendly staff, great food and good portion size, great looking bar with a lot of drinks selection and it was immaculately clean. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend

My friend was looking for a baby friendly place to meet for lunch between Glasgow and Edinburgh and came across the Shore. I arrived early and was shown to my table. The high chair was ready for us. I gave it a wipe down to get rid of some food remnants.

The Shore is a regular haunt for us (or was) and we have enjoyed many nights in here. As the place has changed hands we decided to visit and meet the new proprietor. As it was midweek we didn't book and arrived around 6.00pm. Alas, it wasn't the welcome we expected as we stood for about 5 minutes before we were approached with not the friendliest greeting. I would have thought that the new management would be keen to meet their patrons! The food was ok but based on the service I'm afraid we wont be hurrying back.

Food was nice. Service was dreadful. The waitress looked like she'd rather be anywhere else. Snatched the menus from us. Muttered under her breath as she walked away from our table. Was just generally rude. Seriously needs to either find a job outwith public service or be sent on a customer relations course. Sadly would put me off going back. Pity, as it has potential to be lovely.

Ordered meal.kids meal came out on side plates ????? One starter came out wrong plus starters came out very quick as they must be lined up ready.one off our group had chilli no sour cream ??? Plus so salty couldn’t eat it others had steak n ale pie had to look for steak plus restaurant was freezing bring back Marlyn n Ian .

Visited here with 4 friends on Saturday who hadn't been there before . Excellent meal and first class service. New menu introduced by new owners is a delight. Highly recommend .

Looking for a dog friendly pub in between The falkirk wheel & the kelpies & chose here glad we did food was good with pleasant staff brought our bedlungton terrier some biscuits if your looking for somewhere try here you should't be dissapointed

We were there Friday evening, and we spoke to the new owner who had just taken over 4 days before! The place was, as usual, very busy - a good indication. They had an offer for 2 sirloin steaks and a bottle of wine for £29.50 - and since there were four of us we thought we would try it. The starters were good, the main courses good: steak pie, scampi and, of course, our two steaks which were cooked to perfection. We all had deserts (creme brûlée or ice cream) and these were great too. Although a little noisy - with parties going on - there was a really great atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and efficient. We had a really good time, and with drinks such as gin and tonics to start with, and most of us had three courses, we were pleasantly surprised with the bill at just under £100. Recommended. Hope the new owners and new chef make a success of it.

Contacted the restaurant this morning to book a table for 7 people for tonight which was accommodated with no problems. Warm and welcoming atmosphere and staff very polite and helpful. Food was excellent, everyone enjoyed what they had and kids were given lollies which was a nice touch. Also many thanks to the lady who saved our son from a sore fall off his chair, it was much appreciated! We will be back

Visited here with my family on Sunday - this is a really nice little pub and restaurant . It’s got great parking right outside and across the road.

We are fairly local to the shore inn and haven’t had a bad meal here. It’s a little more expensive than other places offering a similar menu however you get what you pay for. I would recommend

Four of us went for lunch here after a visit to the Kelpies and after reading the reviews and we were not disappointed. The haggis & black pudding starter was great and my friend raved about the chowder.We had steak pie for our mains and it was full of lovely tender pieces of meat all on a plate not a silly ramikin .The sweets were nice as well and the whole meal was reasonably priced.We will be back again if we are in the area.

My wife and I were on holiday in Falkirk, and fancied a nice meal. After looking round Trip advisor, we plumped for The Shore, mainly on the reviews. We weren't disappointed. My king prawn starter was absolutely fantastic, and the wife's steak was perfect. It was actually a nicer cut of meat than the one I had eaten in Edinburgh the night before, at a high class eatery.

Been here umpteen times sometimes in a large group and sometimes just the wife and I and it’s always good. There’s a nice varied menu and although it’s not the cheapest the food is a cut above everything nearby. Well worth a visit. The best thing about it is you can take your dog and sit in the bar.

We were there for dinner and have to say that I was very disappointed with the fish, the batter was very thick, soggy and quite inedible, I left it all on my plate I told the waitress this when she took our plates away but nothing was said, no apology. I think that it is overrated and quite expensive for what is served, will not be back.

Went today to have some drinks in the beer garden and try the £29.95 Steak deal.....and we weren't disappointed!! Great service from the staff. We had planned to eat outside but the weather had other plans! The staff kindly found us a table inside. Lentil and ham soup was fantastic. Steak was cooked very well and melted in your mouth. Not as good as my previous visits. Soup advertiised as vegetarian was very tasty, but I am not certain it was fully vegetarian. Lemon and Chilli prawns was basically cooked in the same soup but with added sausage (which I would not have ordered had I known as a pescetarian). Service was very slow (although the staff were lovely, just run off their feet). Took about 30 mins to get our starters out. Please go back to how you were before!!!

We attended the shore today for lunch as it was my friends 40th birthday. Her and her partner hadn't been before so I was so excited to be introducing them to the place it's my absolute favourite! We all had a starter. I picked the black pudding and haggis fritters. Was quite disappointed when I got half a piece of black pudding and half a piece of haggis but thought it was really nice tasting so didn't mind too much. I would like to add though they were both sat on garlic mayo maybe a wee side dish for people that don't like it would maybe be better as my partners man doesn't like it and it didn't state this is how it was served. Mains..... 3 of us got macaroni and I'm not going to lie there was far too much mustard in it. It has totally put me off coming back which is so so sad because I love the place! What was worse is when asked if we enjoyed our meal we went quite quiet because none of us wanted to ruin my friends birthday but thought we should maybe mention there's a bit too much mustard in the macaroni, nothing was done about it. I didn't feel it was worth the £60 We paid we all left feeling hungry and quite disappointed. I would like to acknowledge though the waitress made sure she said happy birthday to my friend and on leaving told her to enjoy the rest of her day. I'm actually really gutted about today's visit and had maybe we had an apology I wouldn't have left such a poor review as reviews are key to people visiting your place. Lovely lovely place aswell
