From the outside , does not match the excellent food , very good staff , served by a very good chef . The interior so beautiful, very relaxing , Thoroughly enjoyed my meal , as did my family , and would certainly recommend The Ship to any persons looking for a very good meal

Excellent food and service. Delivered with a smile. A must visit if you are this side of Scotland. We had gone for a family dinner and came back really happy.

Excellent service and food as usual always a good selection without a menu that goes on and on everyone is attentive without being overbearing we go fairly often and shall be back this Saturday the 29th April with friends for dinner.

A delayed Family Christmas treat. It was worth waiting to warm our hearts in mid March with excellent food in content and presentation. Service was first class and friendly and all executed with a smile. The Daube of Beef was sumptuous and the Crumble was to keep living for on another future occasion. Did bot feel that March Winter blast with all that inner warmth.

Fabulous 3-course meal at The Ship this evening 😋 Haggis & black pudding bon bons were so good as were the king prawns in garlic butter. For mains, we had the fish & chips and daube of beef. The fish was beautifully fresh & crispy batter (breaded is also available), and the beef was so melt-in-the-mouth tender. Good-sized portions. Pudding we had apple crumble & custard, and the trio of mini puddings. Both fabulous, and so tasty. Service was friendly and not overbearing. Meals were served hot, on hot plates, with a reasonable gap between courses. Best of all under £70 including soft drinks. We will definitely be back.

Ate here this evening on my own - food was absolutely spot on - and hit the spot perfectly. Service was great, and was made to feel very welcome. Reasonably priced too - really can't ask for anything more - if ever I'm in the area again would definitely go back.

First visit to The Ship for my husband and I having moved to Kinghorn recently. We really enjoyed our experience here and will certainly be back. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable without being intrusive. There were clearly many regulars dining and I can see why. The restaurant has a lovely vibe throughout, we felt comfortable and relaxed. The food was delicious, good quality produce which was well cooked. Lots of enticing choice on the menu which means we have to go back to try them all out. A nice selection of wines which were all reasonably priced. Lucky for us just a short walk home. It's good to see a small business like this still thriving after such a troublesome time. Hopefully people will keep returning to ensure it stays like this.

My wife and I visited the ship for an evening meal in late October. We both found the experience faultless. The Ship is layed out and decorated in an interesting and glitzy style which works remarkably well. The place was busy and ambiance warm and friendly. Staff were friendly and efficient, no delayed service and yet no sense of being rushed. The food was by far the best we have eaten in some considerable time. We had starters of mussels and onion stew, and smoked salmon coronet and mains of prawn thermidor and sea bass with capers. All absolutely stunning and extremely good value for money. If it wasn’t so far from the West Midlands, this would be our go to restaurant. A thoroughly deserved 5 star place

We first visited The Ship in November 2019 for my 50th birthday meal and was very impressed with the food and service. Again, we were not disappointed as everything was still as good as the first time we went. The food was cooked to perfection and presented nicely, none of our party could find fault and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. On our next visit to Kinghorn, we will certainly be booking a table. Very impressed!

Visited the ship on Sunday booked at last minute no problems. So glad we read the reviews or we may have by-passed this pub. As other reviews said doesn’t look much from the outside. But when entering this place is lovely. So clean and Covid-19 secure. The food was delicious and staff very friendly. So good we have booked again for Friday night. Sadly only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This place is a hidden gem from the outside looks just like a local pub then you enter the place is so stylish. And the staff are so friendly food is outstanding, we will definitely be back with friends and family

3 friends visited The Ship earlier this week. From arrival to departure the food and service were a joy. I have many food intolerances and the chef adapted his menu to provide me with a lovely personalised main course which was absolutely delicious.

From the outside it just looks like a normal pub. Once inside it has been decorated to a high standard. The Cuillin Skink was excellent but be wary the portions are generous. Go for the half portion so you can appreciate the main course.

"The Ship Tavern" suggests you may be off to a gastropub bar but in reality it's a very nice restaurant in the coastal town of Kinghorn. Service was friendly & efficient and the food was really good. Obviously a good chef in residence. Highly recommend.

We had visited here earlier this year and enjoyed it so much that when we had family visiting we decided to take them there. Unfortunately, we had actually made a mistake with our booking and when we called prior to arriving they didn't have our booking totally our fault. We were so grateful that they managed to accommodate us at very short notice in their function suite even although it was set up for a function the next day. The staff were wonderful and the food again was delicious. Can't praise them highly enough. Thank you to all.

Hi,we came here on reccomendation,I had cullen skink and then fillet steak/peppercorn sauce.Well-the peppercorn sauce spoiled the meal,wish I never had any sauce.The soup was ok but nothing special.

Just visited her for our mums 70th birthday, if been before and loved it so decided to bring my mum and sisters for the first time, they were not disappointed, loved the food and ambience of the restaurant, great service as I remember and they all said they would most definitely return, my sister is thinking of having her 40th celebration dinner here later on in the year.

I had my retirement night out here at the weekend and couldn’t have asked for more. The venue was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Starting the night outside on a beautiful summers night set the scene for the wonderful night ahead. The amount of guests who said how exceptionally good the food was, great value for money and they couldn’t fault a thing has been unbelievable. The service was excellent, organisation ensured everything ran smoothly and the staff couldn’t do enough to make it a really special night. A big thank you to Karen, Adam, chef and the girls for making this a night to remember for me.

What a gem of a place just wish I lived closer so I could go more often.Outside it looks just like a pub but once inside its totally different.Nice size menu with plenty of mouthwatering dishes,I had the venison in red wine--fantastic.I'll definitely go back next time I'm in the area.

Visited The Ship Tavern while on holiday in Kinghorn based on TA reviews and recommendation from lady who managed our accommodation. Looks nothing from the outside more like a traditional pub but inside modern decor. Ordered two starters, two main courses, a dessert and 4 drinks. Food was cooked from fresh, sensible portions, very tasty and just good solid food not messed about with! Perhaps a little more expensive than other places but well worth it for the quality. Service was also very good and would definitely recommend.

This was our 5th visit and the fifth family birthday celebration meal and like the previous delicious meals this was equally delicious, the 12 of us agreed.

We had been recommended this restaurant by the hosts of The Cardinals Folly where we were spending the weekend. As we entered the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised at the lovely decor. A really nice atmosphere, very pleasant young staff to welcome us, show us to our table and offer drinks and menu. A good selection of both traditional fare and something a little different. Excellent quality of food served on hot plates and perfectly chilled wine...whats not to like? Very good value for money. Our table was ours for the evening so we were able to relax and not feel rushed.

We both very much enjoyed the food and service provided to us when we visited The Ship Tavern. When entering the premises we were greeted by most members of staff. The food we were served was perfect. Very tasty and served in good time.

We pre-booked this place because of the size of our group, (12), and The Ship, talking to others that have dined here before have said it's always busy. There are tables in the bar area when you enter but we were at a table through in the back room. On the night we were there, 3 large tables were set up each with 12 seats, although 10 people per table would give you more room. We ordered our food and drinks which came out shortly after. All the food that was served was excellent and tasty with a good portion size on each plate, couple of small niggles though were the chips, which were frozen chips and the steak pie which wasn't a pie, it was stew with a pastry topping. The servers were polite, prompt and well presented. The toilets were clean and tidy. Don't let the 2 small niggles put you off though as this is a great place for a meal.

Really enjoyed this wee place in Kinghorn. A large family group so had a wait for the first course but we didn't mind too much as we were catching up with visiting family. Everyone cleared their plates and thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We will definitely be back. Great service and friendly staff too. :-)

Have tried to go here a few times in the last year but was always booked up. Finally made and can say it was very good excellent food choice and good wine selection. Everything really fresh. The brownie and sticky toffee pudding was a great end. Definitely be back!

Went here on Saturday with a group of friends for my husbands 50th birthday, a very warm welcome, what a lovely room the table was set beautifully, the lady that looked after us Rhona was excellent nothing was too much bother for her, everyone enjoyed thier meal, the sweet table was superb, will definitely go back here, have to book though as its so good.

What An amazing venue, with amazing attentive staff..Nothing was too much trouble for any staff member. The lady who took care of us in the evening was very attentive And regularly checked in on us in the private dining area. Karen should be proud of herself and her team for outstanding service and food.

The Ship had been recommended to us by the VRBO we stayed at. Was an excellent recommendation. Food was very good and the staff, while only a couple people, were very attentive and took great care of us, vert friendly. We had the Steak Pie and Chicken Curry, both very flavorful. Dessert was the sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate/caramel "pot". Plates were sent back "clean"!

Ruby anniversary celebration dinner with family and friends at the Ship on Saturday - five stars all round. Adam, Karen and the team did a fantastic job, keeping everyone happy, food absolutely delicious and dessert table was a fabulous touch. Service was slick and nothing too much trouble- easily apparent that the staff kept a close but unobtrusive eye on everything. Table decoration was superb - thanks again everyone at the Ship.

The inside of this restaurant is a surprise after the plain exterior.

Very good service and choice of menu, Our party of six all selected different starters and all enjoyed them. My selection of the Black pudding with apple and served with a red wine sauce was the best serving of black pudding I have ever tasted, it is fully recommended.

We have eaten in this venue on many occasions and our visit for our anniversary was no different the standard of service, the quality and quantity of the food is excellent we just keep returning for more

Visited as a party of 5. My sister and her partner stay in Kinghorn and had recommended. We all agreed that the quality of food, service and atmosphere could not be faulted. We ordered a selection of southern fried chicken strips and soup for starter, followed by steak pie, chicken with prawns and chorizo and fillet steaks. The portions were large but somehow we managed to fit in deserts, panna cotta with rhubarb, strawberry pavlova, baileys cheesecake and apple crumble with ice cream.

Was In here many years ago when it was a pub, words cant describe the transformation into a fantastic restaurant, party venue. Walking through the door is like walking into another world, décor is magnificent, and you need to check out the party room and special outdoor area. Food???, what can I say magnificent freshly cooked at ridiculous reasonable prices. Well done to Adam and his team for making this a great night for us

First ever visit for our party of 11 to this family run business. Staff so lovely, helpful And accommodating. Food was outstanding, could not fault one single starter or main course, too delicious so you just have to go try for yourself, don't think you will be disappointed. Definitely be back and would highly recommended.

Von Innen schicker als man von außen vermuten würde. Super leckeres Essen in guter Qualität und zu top Preisen. Wir hatten Fish and Chips und die Sea Brass. Service sehr zuvorkommend, mein Mann konnte sich nicht für eines der lokalen Biere entscheiden und bekam von zwei Sorten ein Schlückchen zum Probieren. Ordentliche Portionen, weshalb wir leider keinen Platz mehr für Nachtisch hatten. Zu empfehlen!

Essen, Athmosphäre und die Bedienung, alles hat gepasst. Ich hatte die See Barbe. Sie hat einfach super geschmeckt. Dazu ein frisch gezapftes Bier (weiß leider nicht genau wie es hieß. Irgend ein schottisches mit Stickstoff, ähnlich Guinness aber nicht so dunkel. Vielleicht weiß einer wie das heißt und kann mal drauf antworten.) Irgendwas mit "at chellon" oder so ähnlich. Alles in allem waren wir sehr zufrieden. Zumal es für diese Qualität auch noch recht preiswert war.

Kevin just served us an amazing meal of pan fried chicken,chorizo and king prawn,sea bass capers and prawn, venison red wine sauce and mash and finally black pudding mash and braised steak.

A family get together meal. Mixed age group - youngest 18 months. Excellent service and delicious menu choice. Especially busy Friday and weekends - so book. The 18 month old had reduced sized adult menu which went down well but general kids menu not promoted. The only downside is that in busy periods you may be restricted to your time at the table - and you are reminded again about 20 mins before end of slot when your table will be required - this was a bit annoying as we were clockwatching ourselves throughout the meal and didn’t run over at all. The food is excellent value and well cooked - would definitely return, perhaps on a less busy evening - our booked table time was 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm on a Friday.

We had a fantastic evening at The Ship Tavern! We were part of a group of 18 people, celebrating an anniversary dinner. The room we were in was beautiful and well decorated. The food was delicious - a special mention to the Cullen skink, yum!...

We found the Ship Tavern from our B&B; just up the road. The meal was excellent in every respect with very helpful staff. Atmosphere was so nice and relaxing. Perfect Ln every way for an evening out.

This is an excellent little restaurant, tucked away in an old historic pub in Kinghorn. Had lunch with family on a Sunday afternoon – 2 courses for £15, which is excellent value. All the food was very well cooked and tasted fresh. Highly recommend the breaded fish and chips and the Cullen skink soup – simple dish, but done very well! Will be returning!

While on a summer trip to kinghorn we were recommended to try The Ship Tavern for an evening meal, when we tried to book we were advised thatthey were booked up for months on a Saturday, however, if we wanted to come in for lunch tables were available, so we did after lunch we all agreed great day out and worth getting a booking in for dinner 2 months later we ended up having dinner for 6.

A trendy interior belies it's plain, hulking exterior. Wait staff a bit inexperienced but cheerful enough. Food was quite good. This place books up quickly, so reservations are suggested.

We had a family lunch here - 10 adults & 2 children. The staff were pleasant and couldn't do enough for us, during our meal. The lunch menu had plenty to choose from & when the food arrived......it certainly didn't disappoint! Worth a visit for sure
