The Ship Pub in Southwark

Excellent beer as ever but I also had my first Sunday roast and fully enjoyed my roast pork dinner. Excellent meat portion which many pubs don’t give you. Plenty of gravy too. Very satisfied.

Spent a late Sunday afternoon with mates at the Ship, it's a traditional locals pub, we were served two fine looking and sumptuous burgers, and a 'proper' Sunday roast, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. This pub is frequented by a nice crowd, offers choice of board games plus outside seating area, also great banter from the lady serving. I would highly recommend this venue if you fancy great traditional pub fare at an affordable price.

Sadly due to the train strikes I’ve made many fewer visits than normal. Short break meant I could visit twice and the beer as good as ever. Proper locals pub with a great atmosphere and a warm welcome. Highly recommended.

Just passing through the area at lunchtime today with the family (three adults, 1 teenager) for a quick drink. At the bar we were asked what we wanted to drink, so far so good! However, after we put our drinks order in, we were asked if we had booked a table... (it was 12.30pm on a Sunday afternoon and the place was half empty), anyway needless to say we hadn't booked a table... and that was it. The 'reserved' table to our left was for 2pm and a few other tables had 'reserved' on them but were empty. We were not offered any of these tables on a 'temporary' basis and as we had no table to sit at, we had no alternative but to leave. If I were the manager of this pub I would be disappointed with the young man behind the bar who did not have the presence of mind to keep paying customers drinking in the pub. Such a shame that you cannot go into a pub, order a drink, sit down anymore without booking beforehand. Is The Ship a restaurant or a pub? Who knows, I didn't get the opportunity to find out which was a shame.

Back after a pandemic break but the beer and everything else still as good as ever. Well worth visiting a haven of a proper pub in an area where tourism creeps in more and more.

Had a takeaway roast beef this afternoon which was absolutely handsome. The beef was lovely and tender accompanied with crispy roast spuds. Smashing Thoroughly recommend it. Thank you Tim and Caroline Rich

Never had a bad pint here and good to meet up with friends on both sides of the bar again. COVID measures spot on. Always happy to drink here. Recommended

First visit since a March but great to be back. Sound COVID precautions in place. Beer on top form as ever and good to see everyone again.

Great to see The Ship open again for take away food after the lock down, had a delicious Sunday roast really enjoyed it. Looking forward to it reopening fully!

One of the great mysteries in beer life is why this pub has never got in Camra good beer guide. Consistently good real ale.

A traditional pub mainly catering for locals, near to touristy "Mayflower", (a Thames side pub and Brunel museum). The Ship pub is a no frills but has lots of model boats and pictures of surrounding life inc. docklands. I had a party of ten which felt basic food was good and ambiance reasonable. Wm Younger beer was excellent. Service was a bit slow for some.

Back for another football season and all is as was. Decent beer and the pub still as friendly as ever. Recommended.

We have just had one of our regular meetings at the Ship which we have been doing for a couple of years now. We are always made to feel welcome by the very friendly staff, we always get a comfortable place to sit and chat. There is very good background music but it is never too loud. We all used to go to the Apples and pears pub circa 1971/2 where we became friends and we have met up on and off over the years ever since. The Ship is a great central place for us to meet as we all live in different parts of London and Kent. We just wish we had found it sooner.

Lovely staff members who were incredibly helpful and both beer and food were exceptional! Lovely young barman was very welcoming and offered us a taste of beer since we couldn't decide. Would definitely recommend this hidden away gem along the Thames walk. Full of locals and interesting pictures from the past.

What a wonderful pub the Ship is, such a gem, and would highly recommend it as all of the staff are so very welcoming, professional and friendly, and fun! Great atmosphere, beer and food, we especially loved the ploughman’s lunch, yum yum!, but other very tasty options too. Really couldn’t fault it. Cosy in the winter as they have a real fire and in the warmer weather you can sit outside, either in the front or lovely back garden. A must to visit as best pub in the area for sure. Love it!

Tu personal te hace una injusticia. Cuando un cliente pregunta cortésmente si es Steak Pie o Steak Pudding que está vendiendo porque su caja y el menú no coinciden, la respuesta correcta es no decirles que es lo mismo, entonces no sabe y luego hace ningún intento de averiguarlo Todo esto murmuró y fue monosilábico cuando no se ladró de una manera sorprendentemente agresiva. Actitud horrible sobre este joven. Vuelva a entrenar o deshacerse.

Young’s bitter spot on as ever. Great friendly pub. Good scotch eggs and sausages rolls on most times. Proper pub. Highly recommended.

Surprised someone else had a bad beer experience but I guess everywhere can have an off day. Bitter bang on again for the umpteenth time for us. Scotch eggs a treat too!

Hele gezellige en drukke local pub in een geweldig pand met uitstekend bier van Young’s op de tap. Personeel is vriendelijk en ook een beetje streng als je om IPA vraagt, want we krijgen een beetje het gevoel dat onze vraag een beetje fout is. Wat we van de tap krijgen is echter helemaal in orde. Na een paar uur langs de Thames wandelen hebben we genoten van het bier en de (Kerst)sfeer in de pub, zo hoort vakantie te zijn!

The quality of the beer here has been on a steady increase for some time and now deservedly gets my top score. Spotlessly clean pub, friendly staff. Recommended.

Young’s Bitter spot on. Friendly pub and a nice place to have a few beers. Always conversations going off the sign of a decent boozer. Recommended.

Hay también una falta de cervezas pero probablemente para hacer con ellos siendo un joven de pub, que significa regular cervezas son lo suficientemente buenas.

Had few drinks with friends on a Sunday evening. Drinks were reasonably priced. Impressed with the clean and fresh décor.

Visitamos el barco en un tiempo para el almuerzo de lunes a viernes, servicio excelente y deliciosa comida fantástica relación calidad-precio. Nos sentamos en el jardín un entorno muy limpio. El propietario es muy amable. Me trajeron en Rotherhithe y nació en la calle Santa María de la calle y nos casamos en la Iglesia de calle. Mary Ahora vivo en Kent y a menudo volver a Rotherhithe que incluía comer y beber en el barco! ! ! Este pub ofrecía comida mucho mejor que los pubs del río más famoso en la zona.

He estado viniendo a la nave por un par de años y ahora es realmente el pub más agradable, más limpio y familiar. La casa aperitivos son deliciosos, especialmente cuando su suerte para ellos caliente. Me encanta llevar a mi sobrina joven y sobrino aquí como hay un montón de juegos de mesa y libros para mantenerlos entretenidos. El personal y la administración son atento, educado y profesional.

I went there with 2 of my friends ordered 3 pints and as we were standing next to one of the tables I have plugged in my vape to charge it up .we went and sat down outside ,after a while I can assume it was manageress came over and said" thanks for asking if you can use our electricity " I replied "sorry I did not asked" to which I got" I know I was being sarcastic " I find sarcasm to br the lowest form of wit and absolutely no place in costumer service .I have asked how much does she want me to pay for it .lady got upset and went inside and unplugged my device .as she did not disconnected vape first before she pulled the plug my device is not working anymore. 15£ for beers that we did not finish and 85£ for a device that I paid and it's in the bin now plus basically slap in the face ,all this for probably about 2p of the electricity. I just don't understand. It's not even horrible costumer service but as a human being you should not be like this . I don't know what is the status of that place (franchise or whatever ) but youngs company has a name on it. I would be very careful and concern to be associated with this kind of establishment. Reputation is probably one of the biggest assets of any company and incident like this is not doing it any favors to say the least. I can only hope lady had a bad day ,otherwise I feel sorry for people around her . Horrible. It is my local pub but I won't be coming back .still not too sure what am I supposed to do about the fact that I am 85£ out of pocket. La mujer del bar del alboroto pregunté si todo el mundo tenía una bebida, nuestro amigo abstenciones dijo que estaba bien. Ella procedió a la demanda compró una bebida; a pedir un vaso de agua del grifo" que estará 2 libras, no soy un caridad! "

Comimos allí el domingo pasado y teníamos la opción de varios asados, tales como carne de cerdo y cordero/Pollo/o opciones para vegetarianos, fui por la carne y mi esposa tenía el cerdo. La comida estaba caliente y era para no fumadores sirve con todos los...

Paramos aquí para bebidas en un bonito día soleado, así que nos sentamos. Es un pub de Londres lleno de gente local que charlar, aumento de la rareza en Londres estos días. Un mejor local boozer, yo diría de nuevo si estaba pasando.

Pub encantador con asientos al aire libre en la parte delantera y la parte trasera. Vinimos aquí durante la eurocup en un domingo, así que el juego estaba en tratar de pedir pescado y patatas fritas, pero me dijeron que no servían en los domingos, así que pedimos una hamburguesa de verduras en su lugar. Juro que vi pescado y patatas fritas ir por más tarde pero bueno. Agradable ambiente en general.

Gran pub en Londres, lugar frecuentado por locales aunque siempre hay algun turista . Gran opcion para tomar unas pintas en un tipico pun londinense.

As a Londoner now living in the Home Counties, it is sometimes hard to find decent traditional London Pub to take friends when they come to visit us and want a taste of the real London rather than your Convent Garden bars etc.I had not been down this part of London for over 30 years and much has changed. Some for good, some for worse. However, this gem of a boozer is well worth a visit. The bar is spotless, food is good, staff very friendly and has not been commercialized. You can sit and relax whilst enjoying a decent pint and only a stone throw from the Thames. 10/10 for this pub.

One of the best pubs in London. Great staff - so friendly. Pints are always in the right glass with a perfect head. Lovely & warm inside. Food great and decent price.

I was made to feel like a local. This place is so warm and inviting...although I only visited 2 nights, I truly miss the place!

Hospitality was terrific ....just what you expect from a local pub. Get there before 8pm if your going to eat. I got there at 7:45 on a Sat night.The gravity pulled beer was cool (temp) and lagers were cold.I had the Fish & Chips and onion rings. All of it homemade. The rings were okay. The Fish & Chips came old school with peas....and were rockin!

Great pub, really friendly staff, karaoke night simply hilarious... Didn't try the food cause we came late but one of the nicest pubs in island gardens

Have been coming to The Ship on and off for a few years. Don't understand why it's not more popular. The food at The Ship is generous and cheaper than nearby alternatives. Close to Rotherhithe station and the Brunel Museum. Walk off lunch with a stroll along the river or round Southwark Park.

Went here today, we had a burger and bangers and mash. Both meals came out within a reasonable time and tasted delicious, highly recommend on a cold and windy day.

Eaten in here many, many times. Had burgers and sausages and fish all top quality. Chips are perfect!Lovely landlord and lady. Nice beer and nice quiet location. Always go here when I want something that I know I will enjoy. Always recommend to anyone and everyone.

Good little pub with a friendly welcome and warm atmosphere. Nice selection of beers and the decor is traditional and yet fresh. Recommended.

This is a great pub, lots of space inside, great range of drinks and a lot of the food is freshly cooked and really tasty. Staff are quite helpful too.

Believe you've got pub mixed up as only food served that day was served promptly and plus when a "famous person" comes into our establishment we tend not to make a big deal of it, everybody is treated with the same way here. Great setting and decor but service was so slow that we ate lunch at 4pm and were given desserts on the house to compensate.Strange that the staff and manager did not notice that we had a film star at our table.
