Booked for a one night . Lovely view over looking the sea . The room was lovely but you could tell dogs had stayed in the room. A little smelly and hair not hoovered properly. Bed was very comfy and lovely powerful shower. Lovely evening meal down at the bar. Lots of things missing off the menu but what we had was lovely. Great selection of gins. Staff so lovely and very helpful.

Having previously stayed for one night, my sister and I and our two dogs returned for another relaxing two night stay at The Ship Inn in Tresaith. The beach, coastal path and waterfall are literally a stone’s throw away! Our room was adequate for our requirements and the sea view was pretty spectacular! Our breakfast and dinner was freshly cooked by Miles and Julie and was delicious. The service at breakfast from Sarah and then in the evening from Alex was friendly and attentive. Don’t forget to check out Sarah’s Pebble Art! Tresaith is a perfect location to explore the Ceredigion coastline! We can’t wait to stay again! Thank you Hayley and your team!

I don't ever write Tripadvisor reviews but this was so bad, it's worthy of mention. We arrived at 6.45 as per the booking and they were expecting us at 7.30pm. Sat us at nice table for six in the conservatory, even though we were a couple. Tried to order two lots of home made kebabs from the mains but told they had run out of kebabs. Readjusted our order to one signature sharer and one surf and turf main ( to share). Just as we were expecting our starter, told signature sharer was sold out (19.30) ffs. Said we'd had enough and would pay for our drinks. Total shambles but at least they wouldn't take money for drinks.

we stayed here sat 13/01/2024. Right from the time we arrived everything was perfect. the manager made sure that we had everything, (even her parking space if we couldn't get one). We had a sea view room with Balcony and this would be stunning in the summer. The room was spacious and the bed cosy. The Shower was very powerful and hot.. just what we needed after a cold brisk walk on the Beach. we went to bed with the sound of the waves lapping and so relaxing. we had our evening meal and full breakfast at the restaurant downstairs and could not find fault with anything. we will definitely be looking to come back in the summer.

We booked room 4 which has its own balcony. We stopped overnight on boxing day. The room was larger than a double room with a great shower . Floor to ceiling windows and French doors to our balcony with uninterrupted views of the beach and sea. We had a lovely evening meal which consisted of lamb kofta's and burger and chips. Yum ! . Nice atmosphere in the pub . We had a Good night's sleep. Pub closed at 10pm. Breakfast between 8.30 and 10.00 which was cooked as I asked for and was also lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Having decided it was such a lovely place to stay and we may have a dog next year, we asked if we could see another room . They have 2 rooms for dog owners. We saw room 1 which doesn't have a balcony and is a double room but has sitting for 2 by the window overlooking the beach. What's not to like ...... Booked for next year.!! Thank you.

Expectations were exceeded. Service team were awesome, food (Sunday) pork roast was tender, full of flavour and plentiful. The signature burger lovingly crafted and prepared by Vince was probably the best I’d eaten. Bar, dining, toilets and outside were clean and well maintained. Pooches were well taken care of with water, treats and blankets for inside and out. Price wise it’s all comparative, go inland and pay a little bit cheaper, but for location, hospitality, dining and pooch friendly - worth every penny and recommended. Will be back.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We visited The Ship for a birthday meal on a Sunday, the setting and views are outstanding, and the staff were very friendly. There was a Sunday Lunch menu alongside the standard menu, which is an added bonus on a Sunday. 3 of my party wanted Sunday roast but I wanted something from the standard menu, the sausage and mash, but as I am not too keen on mash, asked if I could have chips instead. This is where the alarm bells should have rung, I was advised that as they came pre-packed I couldn’t have chips. As everyone else was ready I didn’t want to waste time studying the menu again so opted for a roast as well. There was very little waiting time for the food, and it arrived on funky triangular plates with all the veg and meat plated up. Mine was missing the stuffing ball, but I can live with that, there were a roasted carrot and parsnips, several roast potatoes that were quite tough, peas and French beans along with a huge Yorkshire pudding and some gravy, my father said his beef was tender, but the pork and turkey were quite dry. We asked for Cranberry, mustard and horseradish which were quickly brought out, my mother asked for some gravy and I thought that I would have some of hers, as a fair amount of mine had poured off the strangely shaped plate, the gravy arrived and I could see that I wasn’t going to have any. It came in the smallest jug I have ever seen in a restaurant, smaller than when you get cream to pour on a dessert, and roughly the size of a expresso cup. My father then asked for some more gravy but waited a good 5 minutes to receive his, and this was the same size also.2 of us had desserts, my father with an ice cream sundae which he polished off, I had the panna-cota which was very nice, but the accompanying cookie was burnt, they had dusted it with icing sugar, but it was burnt. Now you may well be wondering why I’m harping on about gravy portion sizes, well, and I have to admit that I missed that you had to pay for extra gravy(something I have never heard of anywhere else), but to have the audacity to charge £2.50 for a couple of tablespoons of gravy was gobsmacking, added to that we had to pay £5 because we wanted two servings. I’m afraid that the food was mediocre, (although the table behind us seemed to be happy with their food, so perhaps we were unlucky) and the cost extortionate. But it looks a nice place for a drink to look out over the beautiful beach at Tresaith

My daughter has coeliac disease and we were very wary of coming as we've never been here for food before and wasnt sure what she could eat, i asked a girl behind the bar and she helped us and had good knowledge on what foods on the menu were gluten free. Despite being busy, she still came over to us and showed us how to use the allergy menu app u have online. I didn't get her name but she did mention she used to be a chef here before. Thank you.

The service was superb and the staff were very friendly, accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The evening meals chosen ranged from burgers, the scampi and steaks. All were to a great standard and no one had any complaints. The meat on the Sunday lunch was beautiful and came with a range of vegetables. We had dessert on just one occasion and everyone enjoyed their selection. Fantastic views from the outdoor area too. Would happily return when local in the future.

After a recommendation, we came to this spot as a group of 5 girls. We ordered drinks which took at least half an hour. 1 of the drinks didn’t arrive and another was wrong. We wanted to order Sunday roasts at 1:30pm and they had not cauliflower cheese left, I was unaware it was a breakfast dish to have run out already. When our food finally arrived, the roasts arrived with no red cabbage, the potatoes were definitely not roasted, the carrots and parsnips were in no way maple glazed and to market frozen peas as ‘seasonal greens’ is simply embarrassing. We were told AFTER we received our food that the red cabbage was not available. The roast was very average and definitely not as described on the menu. There was a serious lack of communication between the kitchen staff and the wait staff and everything took far too long. We will not be returning after a very disappointing trip to The Ship Inn.

I don’t think that we have ever been so disappointed with a restaurant. Visually it has every possible advantage situated where it is overlooking Tresaith Beach, a warm and comfortable ambience inside and a pleasantly situated dining area… However, the staff are totally useless, well at least the young girl who served us was., and the chef was not much better. My wife chose the roast beef and I chose sausage and mash from the reasonably extensive menu. After the girl had taken our order she went away but was back a few minutes later so say that there was no roast beef or Yorkshire puds left, also the pork was off so my wife ordered roast turkey which eventually came nonchalantly chucked on top of the veg with gravy poured over it. 5 minutes later the girl was back again to say that the chef had run out of sausages, so I changed my order again, this time I ordered French fries with my meal, at the girl’s suggestion. The fries hadn’t appeared by the time I had finished the rest of the meal. When I mentioned about not getting the fries to the waitress on paying the bill she showed not the slightest bit of concern and said “I must have forgotten to put them on” We have eaten at several other Marsden restaurants in the past and they have all been excellent but management need to spend some time in The Ship to sort it out.

We enjoyed our stay and meals. The rooms had wonderful sea views. There were issues with the menu due to them waiting for deliveries but they were courteously dealt with. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Such a disappointment. A large group of us stayed here for a charity walk. On both evenings we were hurried out of the bar/restaurant well before closing time as staff wanted to go home. Some of the food hadn’t been cooked, indeed it was still...

Absolutely delightful location and accommodation. The Hunters chicken was delicious, drinks reasonably priced, and we were greeted with warmth and kindness. Definitely will be returning.

Had dinner on Saturday night. Service was very slow and couldn't understand why it took so long as it was a dried up burger with no salad or garnish and fries just dumped on the plate. Won't be going back.

The ship is a good pub selling excellent beer and serving tasty food. The views of the beach/sea are great. In my experience, it pays to book if you want to ensure you get a table.

Disappointing service slow to take order and slow to return for follow up and puddings. We gave up in the end. food ok but nothing special. On one day they would not even serve a plate of chips on the terrace without a booking.

I was very much looking forward to my meal at the Ship Inn, Tresaith. I feel it was overpriced and unfortunately not really that nice. The Katsu chicken starter is ridiculously small. I appreciate it’s a starter but 3 tiny pieces of chicken, a piece of lettuce and some spots of sauce on the plate felt somewhat underwhelming when it arrived. I’m surprised they had the courage to allow it to leave the kitchen. Is there no quality check before items leave the kitchen? For £5 I just felt a bit short changed. Subsequently ordered a steak for my main meal, which at £18.50 is not particularly cheap. Again when it arrived I couldn’t help but feel very disappointed with only a few chips on the plate. On a positive note, the chips were very nice indeed, but sadly there weren’t many of them to enjoy. The meal was therefore immediately disappointing and let down by something which could have been easily remedied. Unfortunately the dish just had no real wow factor. Additionally there were not many peas on the plate. It feels like the chef is trying to be posh and go ‘al a carte’ by giving tiny portions, it just seems like the the identify of the menu/restaurant is quite confused. There was also a thick rind of fat running though the steak. I ordered pepper sauce with my meal and a small amount was drizzled over the steak. I paid for this item and felt like I didn’t really receive it. Would it be that difficult to just serve the sauce separately to allow the customer to dip/pour over their meal as required? Sadly it felt like ration week at the restaurant. I was still very hungry when I finished my meal which is disappointing after spending the best part of £27. Again I just felt quite short changed. I don’t want huge portions and I’m not a big eater or a greedy person, but there simply was not enough food on the plate in my opinion. I felt robbed. The staff are very nice people and clearly work very hard- I overheard a kind gentleman (with a beard and glasses) serving another family on a table next to me, I felt a bit sorry for him having to explain several times that many of the items on the menu they had requested were unavailable. The family seemed to be running out of options of what they wanted to order from the menu. It was just all a bit uncomfortable and I wasn’t even sat at that table! Must be quite soul destroying for him having to take the brunt of customer dissatisfaction when many of the problems seem to lie behind the scenes and with management. I’m sure the staff do their very best and it was very busy on a hot day but this shouldn’t affect the quality of food. Something is going very wrong here. I feel a bit more attention to detail is needed which could make it a much better dining experience. If much of the menu is unavailable they shouldn’t really be open. It was sadly quite a disappointing dining experience. I really was hoping it was going to be better than it was. One small disabled toilet with people queuing through the restaurant is not ideal although I appreciate not much can be done about this and it must be quite hard to mange. Seems quite unusual to have only one small disabled toilet at the hotel given how busy it gets. If I had arrived in a wheelchair and seen the size of the queue I wouldn’t have been very happy. Why are able bodied people using the disabled toilet anyway? The set up seems a bit strange. If they’re trying be an up market place and charge the prices they do then the food quality needs to reflect this, which generally speaking it did not (apart from the few nice chips!). Kind and hard working sadly staff let down by portion sizes and a menu which sounds much better on paper than in reality. Overall just quite disappointing, underwhelming and overpriced which is not justified in the slightest.
