Friendly staff and good food, certainly will return.

wow was not expecting this, passing through stopped for lunch and wow Sunday roast was amazing, big portions, good quality and reasonable pricing and the hosts were so welcoming, wish this place was on our doorstep.

We had a Sunday lunch at the Ship inn, all four of us thoroughly enjoyed the meal, a well presented plate and everything was cooked very wellwe will be back

Obviously new landlords you could see by the decor. Very friendly welcome we had dogs with us. Unfortunately the food didn't live up to expectations. We were told the plates were very hot and to be careful. In actual fact they were stone cold. The jacket potatoes were hardly warm. Had barbecue chicken and cheese filling. Much to my amazement it was not barbecue chicken it was cold chicken chunks smothered in some sauce which wasn't even a barbecue sauce. It was nicely presented and would have been good value if it had been what the menu said. We also had a prawn mayonnaise jacket potato but unfortunately that potato was also cold but plenty of filling.

Hubby and I went today for lunch , we both had a mixed grill and it was so yummy , perfectly cooked meat . All at very reasonable price, friendly service 😍 highly recommend.

This is the first time my wife and I along with the brother in law and his wife have been to the ship and it will not be the last, the food was plentiful and piping hot with a good selection for your Sunday dinner and all the staff were very tentative and pleasant for all your needs . keep up the good work everyone, see you soon. New Management and seem to be struggling when it gets busy. The menus are a bit limited and 2 Courses for £15 looks good but it's the light bite with small portions. Food quality was ok but soup which was Leek and potatoes had a skin on top after being left standing. There were 8 of us with an advanced booking and we arrived 5 mins early. The bar service was non existent and the joint manager/ waiter stated order drinks now or I might be stuck in the next room causing a wait. He was true to his word and he served soup then 20 minutes later our food came. 45 minutes later he cleared the table and 10 minutes later he served the desserts. The bar was poorly stocked with one cask ale and limited choice of other drinks. There were only a couple of Gin glasses meaning alternatives had to be used. The menus were confusing and the blackboards have now been superceded with wallpaper of a flamboyant style. This complimented by an ornate folding screen and gold painted retriever of life size proportions. The decor is as confusing as the menu as it seems a mismatch to what was a local ale House but now seems to be leaning towards a wine bar which Bawtry already has a plenty. I hope the new management realise and redirect as its never going to be a restaurant and the place isn't class enough for the wine faithful . Serve quality vfm hot food and provide 3 cask ales /ciders and watch the drinkers return.

Friendly attentive staff. Nice turkey but roast vegetables were undercooked. Ladies bathroom door ,tap and pub ceilings could do with renovations. I would return and give 5 stars if improvements are made . Good prices in comparison with other local businesses.

Came here with family and they only had limited menu due to gas pipe in kitchen wel what can I say food was amazing

Definitely not service with a smile! Sue is downright rude! Food was either burnt or rock solid. 4 meals ordered and all disgusting. Were given 20% off but wont be returning.

I’ve been lots of times and food lovely and staff friendly, however the last two visits have been uncomfortable having been all but asked to leave! This evening despite it only being just past 8 pm I was given the impression the waitress didn’t want me to have the hot chocolate I ordered. Then at around 8.20 pm, despite my glass of water being half full and my friend’s glass having some drink left in it, plus some in the bottle it came in, the waitress came over and asked if we’d finished! As she was taking them she said they’d be closed by 9. We took the hint and left, sitting in the car park until my friend’s husband came to collect her. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in a pub/restaurant before and for that reason it will definitely be the last time I visit!

We met our holiday friends here today and what a lovely experience - the staff were really nice and didn’t rush us at all as we sat chatting and catching up - the food was very tasty and well presented - we chose off the ‘ senior’ menu and it was perfect and then we all had a yummy desert - we will definately meet up there again after Christmas - thank you so much 🍽️🍷🥂xxx

Decided to come here for Sunday lunch, was impressed with the quality of food. Meat was delicious. Would come again sometime.

I ordered cheeseburger and chips. The burger was nice enough but I only got 8 chips. Seriously, 8 chips! When I asked for more they said no, when I said how disappointed I was they promised to “let the chef. Know”. Fat lot of good that is to me! 8 chips, I’ll never forget it.

We popped in on spec having been recommended, we were not disappointed, the welcome was warm, the blguibess perfect and a fabulous selection of food available on both the light bite menu and the main menu board was well balanced with a choice to suit all dietary needs. We chose steak and blackpudding pie with mash and peas together with a fish pie. Both meals were home made, very tasty and well presented. We will be back.

Food was very good. Had a coeliac customer in group who was made very poorly by gluten ingestion even all items were supposedly confirmed as Gluten Free. Be careful if Coeliac.

Favourite place for a great pub meal. Down to earth atmosphere with easy going staff who will chat with you. Great menu and desserts 🍨 Easy parking spaces too.

We visit only occasionally when travelling. The Ship’s menu is huge, the food is served quickly but always tastes freshly prepared. How do they do it. They’re always so friendly.

Called in for mid week lunch and was not disappointed. Lite bites menu available but we opted for the specials board. Sea bass with crushed new potatoes, asparagus and tomato buerre followed by a home made pud! Lemon meringue and cheesecake. Recommend booking.

First time going to The Ship and the first impression very good, the staff are so friendly . We booked Sunday lunch it was really tasty, good value and the treacle sponge pudding OMG delicious. We booked again a few days later, the landlord, i think he was, had no problem changing a few things around on the menu. I ordered lasanga but wanted new potatoes and salad and was fabulous. We all had a great meal and great service. Thank you definetly will be coming back again and again.

We dropped into the Ship just off the main drag in Bawtry after a long arduous day at the nearby Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The service was friendly and attentive with the food produced in record time which did concern me initially but I needed have worried as it was spot on. The parsnip soup was well thick and filing with two good pieces of warm fresh bread. The fish and chips were decent with nice thick cut fluffy chips. Reasonable value for x2 adult meals a starter and a couple of drinks each. Couldn't manage a dessert but there's always next time.

There were six of us for lunch , three had fish and chips and said it was ok. The rest of us thought our meals were mediocre at best .

Found this gem on the internet as was looking for somewhere half way between our friends and ours . What a find!! Cannot fault anything and totally enjoyed everything. Would highly recommend this place to anyone. Will definitely return.

We had a family party here for 20 people with everyone ordering a meal from the extensive menu. The dessert menu is fabulous with a selection of waffles, crepes and ice cream sundaes as well as a great choice of other homemade desserts. The food was excellent and the service quick, efficient and friendly. I would highly recommend The Ship and will definitely be returning, thanks for looking after us so well.

We have used this place before, which a good indentation of what we were to expect and our expectations were not let down , good service and food , a good midday meal. For a good meal and for excellent and happy service you'll not go wrong.

A quick Google search looking for somewhere to have lunch before an overnight stay nearby led us to The Ship. We are really glad it did! Friendly, attentive service. Excellent food and good value. We will definitely look to visit if in the area again :)

Disappointed not many people in it was our 50th Wedding Anniversary meal with my sister, her husband & my Nephew , for the last hour or so there was only us in the room.

Really nice, traditional pub with excellent car park and easy access from the main road. Very extensive menus for both lunch and evening times. I had a 'light bite', which filled the plate and was very good value for money. Staff were polite, helpful and not intrusive. Overall, an excellent lunchtime dining experience.

Great food and a fantastic service, however be sure to remind the server for your choice of sauce. We seem to have been forgotten but it probably would have spoiled the delicious food. Be sure to book in advance to guarantee a table. We turned up unannounced but we were seated at the only available table near the door and it was a high table. It didn't spoil the food though.

Great friendly welcome. The service was excellent. Nice cask beer. Food selection has got to have something for everyone. The quality of food was good. Save room for dessert. I have never ever seen such a selection. We will return in the future.

Haven't been to the Ship for some time but I went this time with 2 friends who are vegetarian and the waitress did everything she could to accommodate their needs 10 out of 10

Went for a family meal yesterday, and the food was excellent. Three of us had the salmon in lemon and pepper butter and it was cooked to perfection. Desserts were beautiful, with large portions. Plenty of choice for starters, mains and desserts, and efficient service!

Visited with family (and our dog) and were beyond impressed. The prices were reasonable, the staff were all so lovely and the food was amazing. Will definitely be returning! The beer garden area was a lovely sun trap with plenty of options for shade too.

I'll start with the negatives, which were few. Not enough staff on (especially on a bank holiday) and one of the desserts wasn't available, despite it being fairly early. The positives- everything else. The service was friendly and the food and drinks we did have were superb. Haddock Mornay was particularly tasty, and the apple and rhubarb crumble was both huge and delicious. So we would definitely return.

Perfect Sunday lunch! We have visited The Ship three times now in the past 4 months and every time has been a pleasure. The staff are lovely, the food is wonderful and the prices are excellent. We will be back soon.

Visited this place on recommendation for Sunday dinner. Food very good; pudding was delicious 😋. Reasonable prices. Sat in the bar area which is a bit tight for room. Apparently there's another dining room 🤷‍♀️ and even though I booked, we weren't put in there so not sure if you need to ask specifically. I would recommend and would return.
